    The moral support was too precious! Loved seeing Tigrette she looks so well! The autumn colours in the countryside are beautiful.

    There is nothing boring with that beautiful scenery. There is never a dull moment when you live in the country. Mud is part of the scenery after a good rain. I have done the same thing. OMG i have gone one further and slipped in it and got absolutely covered with mud. I had to be hosed down before I even could take my clothes off. It was time to build an outside shower for sure. Not fun, but when you look back it is funny how nature always has one up on us. Cleaning up outside at that time of the year is a big job. Lots to do! I love how you keep it real on your videos. Have fun and enjoy that beautiful place you have. My husband has just finished stacking our furnace wood in the storage room, in the basement. Big job, but we will be nice and cozy all winter. We have a huge stone fireplace and a wood burning furnace. I usually put candles in the fireplace as it is just too hot with them both on. I make my own muti-wick candles in round cookie tins to put in the fireplace, if I want the ambiance.

    Those potted plants by the south-facing wall and wrapped in frost cloth have a good chance to make it. We got so tired of bringing in plants for winter or wrapping them, so we began using mostly local native plants. Obviously, they are adapted to the local climate, better for the local ecosystem, and a lot less maintenance required. Great looking tomatoes! I'm not surprised you still have some.

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife  2 года назад +2

      Yes fully agree! The funny thing is, I see them in gardens here a lot, sometimes unprotected during winter. We have many microclimates so it might be that? I have always wondered how the plants survived there but guess we’ll see this winter!

      @@FrenchCountryLife My daily life is upended right now. I live on the southwest coast of Florida, and two months ago I lost my home and my entire neighborhood for miles around to Hurricane Ian. For the past months I’ve been living far away with kind relatives, but I’ve just been able to move into a beautiful little apartment a few miles inland from my destroyed home. Every day for months I’ve been dealing with insurance settlements and disaster aid, phone calls and paperwork, arranging demolition and debris removal, salvaging what I can, replacing lost furniture and belongings, trying to discuss/decide the future plan for the old homesite, learning apartment living again after 38 years in my own home, changing my address at all the companies and websites that need to know where I am. When all this settles down I’ll be exploring my new part of town and making all new friends as all my old friends are displaced and scattered everywhere.
      This is unusual because my normal life before this has been quiet and boring! I’m a retired senior. No kids, no spouse, no pets, and now no garden. I know I’m blessed to be healthy and active enough to deal with these details, and to be happy to start over. Everything will be different but better than before.

      @@jeanmariemclain2836 Thank you for sharing! I am so sorry this happened to you and commend your positivity! Paperwork and insurance can be quite the ordeal, so happy to read you're calmly working through all that needs to be done and organized. So happy you've found an apartment and can go back home, or at least close to it. Like you say, moving somewhere new is always also a new beginning and an opportunity to discover new things and people. Wishing you all the best!

    Marlies, you need to transfer the Laurier Rose to the veranda before the first frost

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife  2 года назад

      Will it be better? The véranda is the same temperature as outside, so the only benefit would be that it's out of the wind. Although the véranda is north/east facing, the coldest part of the house. And the terrace is south. So I though they may even be better there?

    Leaves make great compost.
    How much land do you have and how large is your house. Like square footage. I have just recently started to follow and you may have addressed this in previous videos. I can only go through a couple at a time. Thank You

    • @FrenchCountryLife
      @FrenchCountryLife  2 года назад

      Thank you for your comment! I don’t really know how much land we have, it’s our garden and the farmfield behind it. The farmhouse I believe is around 180 square meters on the ground floor, but only 80m2 were used / living spaces when we bought it and we’re turning the stables and barn parts into holiday cottages and our family’s home.
