Also, I planted some Summer bulbs in containers. Let me show you what is growing in my garden so far in March.

I’m in Ontario Canada zone 6 and right now we still have snow. I definitely do bulbs (tulips, daffodils, hyacinth all the usual) and we can just leave them in the ground they come back year after year, they get the cold spell they need through our winter. Our snow melts usually by March and then bulbs start Usually by April. It has been a very snowy February this year we got at least three feet of snow and very cold. I’m patiently waiting to get in the garden it won’t be long now!🌷

I am addicted to Monty…Big Dreams Small Places, Gardener’s World, his tours of Great American, English and Italian gardens…if it has Monty in it, I am watching it via Britbox, Netflix or RUclips 🥰

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada growing zone 2b/3. Spring is very short, the snow has usually melted by mid April, but the daytime temperatures are still quite cool not higher than 14C with cold winds and night temps are usually in the low single digits. Spring bulbs are crocuses, tulips and muscari, buttercups. Last frost date is typically 3rd week of May! But after that it gets warm quickly and we have lovely summers. First frost can be end of August, but usually not until mid Sept. Winter temps can be very cold, as low as -40C but there is a good snow cover so most perennials, trees, shrubs, bulbs etc survive.
Every gardener faces different challenges, and I embrace every challenge Mother Nature throws at me. Gardens are constantly evolving and changing and that’s what makes it so interesting.
Love your vlogs! It’s so interesting to see gardens from other parts of the world. Thank you for sharing yours ❣️

Monty is my highlight on Friday nights too, even though I have to watch him at 2am because of the time difference. I am able to purchase a VPN which allows me to enjoy every episode. What a sweet young lady you are. It is very pleasing to watch you. Thank you !

Love that you are “genuine” and just let your true personality shine! I live in Southern California, zone 10b. In the few winter months (December-March, never any snow) that we have, we don’t get much lower than the mid 40’s (Fahrenheit) at night - usually in the 50’s and during the days we are usually in the 70’s but can have days in the 80’s. Yes we can grow bulbs here and are very lucky to leave certain ones in the ground year round because of our mild weather - some that I have are gladiolus, amaryllis, bluebells, and Easter lilies. Our weather is so mild that some of these will start popping up in January! However, I know there are certain types of bulbs that need to go through a very cold period of 6-12 weeks to be able to bloom properly and can’t do that in the ground in our warm climate. Fortunately we can put them in the refrigerator for a few weeks to simulate the process. That’s why it’s always good to check the growing zone of bulbs to see how they perform in your area. I’m in my 60’s and still enjoy learning about gardening and am thrilled that my daughter has grown to love the same! 👏🏼🌺🌼🌸🥰

Hello from northeast USA! We have four seasons. Spring is usually rainy season, high winds, still chilly...very odd temps. It is usually starts getting warmer, like 40 F degrees in late March, but can tease and torment you with certain days going up to low-mid 60 F.....followed by a week of low teens and another 2-3 ft. of snow! You plant your early spring bulbs in October...and pray they make it! Spring rains usually arrive in late March or early April...but you can STILL get odd snow flurries all the way thru into early May! (Our tornado season usually starts late March and can pop-up all thru spring, summer and fall!) Most gardening seasons begin in April with Spring flowers, gusty winds and gentle rains or windy thunderstorms. May is usually blooming flowers everywhere, high pollen counts and blossoming trees with temps 60-70s. Most folks plant veggies and flowers at end of May. June and July are farmers markets, fresh veggies, lovely corn, watermelon...great time to harvest tomatoes, beans, peppers cucumbers, zucchini etc. Most country people start freezing and canning. June, July, August are hottest summer months with temps in 80-102F degrees! Time for sunscreen, cold drinks, shade, wind and central air conditioning! Picnics, family parties, pools, vacation travel, local carnivals and fairs, boating, fishing, swimming...all happen June thru August. It is also time to pick blueberries, wild raspberries, elderberries and enjoy fresh strawberries with cake and whipped cream! Fall tree colors arrive late August, early September, with "sweater weather" in high 50s F to low 30s! This is when most gardens are done, so you "put them to bed" cleaning up, adding fertilizer, a top covering of chopped up leaves as a blanket around bulbs, bushes. Some gardeners use newspapers as a layer of frost protection, then mow over their leaves in yard, gather that up and put it on top of newspaper lining, water it down, might add dirt and rocks to hold it all down from high winds. October has cornstalks, apples, sunflowers, mums and pumpkins to buy for decor and to make pies! Fairs with gorgous mums, zinnas and dahlias bouquets and lovely fall floral bouquets to use for fall decor. The trees shed their hickory and black walnuts and squirrels abound, collecting acorns to bury for winter. Hunting season begins in November for rural areas, with deer venison and wild turkey in many freezers.Snow flurries and cold nights can come as early as late October, with definitely daily snowstorms by most of November. The snowy, cold gray winter months run from November thru to early April, usually. SOMETIMES March surprises, turning warmer temps by mid-month. There are family garden centers and large store chains like Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart...that all sell bulbs, plants, seeds...all garden needs. You can also order from catalogs...or buy seedlings, bulbs, young plants, at weekly farmers markets in Spring, Summer and Fall. This week of early March was as follows: Mon-Tues was heavy drenching rainstorms followed by dropping temps into nightly low 20s, which made all streets ice covered. Weds. was rainy, but in mid-40s F. Thurs-Fri. was in low to mid 60sF with beautiful sun-kissed days! Sat-Sun was rain turning into...SNOW FLURRIES, high winds, nightly in low teens! What I dubbed..."A five-blankets night!" Yep...waiting for Spring! Thanks to your vlog...I am feeling "hopeful" Spring will arrive in 1-2 weeks...I hear birds chirping...I am going to try dahlias this year, bought a bouquet in early fall...so lovely...I decided I would try growing them this year!

Here in Northeast Ohio we get Spring bulbs and plant them usually in early May. I live in Zone 5. We also will plant some bulbs in the Fall/Autumn for the following Spring. Like Daffodils and Crocuses. Next Monty Don & Gardeners World. I use to watch episodes on RUclips or Britbox. There’s only 3 seasons on there right now. I don’t know if the episodes you’re watching on Friday is the same as what I see. Isn’t he wonderful! Like the episode I’m watching is about a Staffordshire theme park. Watching these amazing gardens sure lowers the blood pressure. Thank you for bringing you and Blondies sunshine to my day!

I'm in Aotearoa/New Zealand, and I have to use RUclips to get GW. Your Friday is our Saturday, so I watch the video on Sunday morning with my breakfast. I'm also in autumn now, so it's the opposite. I usually watch a 'season' of GW twice so I can follow it in my own spring-summer-fall and then enjoy the new season when it comes on. :) Sometimes, I watch seasons from years ago now.
For my garden, I'm mostly still doing infrastructure. It's a long term process of removing debris, weeds, and invasive plants, then building pathways, patios, decks, railings, fences, and so on. Then building soil and then planting.
So, most of my garden is in pots. I buy very young plants, or get cuttings or divisions, or grow from seed -- and I pot them up and up so that when the place I want them in the garden is ready, I can plant them in. Until then, I enjoy them in their pots, but my garden looks a fright.
I have a monthly plan for my garden, and now that it's autumn, I am doing the potting up, and continuing on the infrastructure projects and weeding. In late autumn and winter, I'll be doing more transplanting, now that I have mature enough plants and it'll be the right time for some of them to be transplanted.

I live in Iowa, zone 5. Yes! We get spring bulbs. Depending on the variety, we usually see them emerging in April and flowering later in April and into May. Our last frost date this year is April 30. It’s currently quite chilly still. We had a few “false spring” days with highs in the upper 60s. The robins are back, which everyone in this area thinks means spring has arrived. And yes….I watch Gardeners World a lot, however they are older episodes on a streaming service. We love Monte, even though our habitat is not quite the same, we learn so much!!

I live in South Australia and plant my bulbs in Autumn, which flower in Spring. I can grow most plants that grow in Europe, as we have a Mediterranean climate, as well as all the Australian native plants. Best of both worlds. It snows in the Australian Alps. In fact, our snowfields are larger than those in Switzerland. Many Australians love skiing and the snowfields in New South Wales and Victoria are very popular in winter. I love watching your vlogs and seen how you’ve transformed your home.

Hi hon! Ottawa, Canada , zone 5…still much snow here although we had a good melt today. We have great spring bulbs but they won’t pop up for a bit. Still too much snow. We’ll see them in April. The long weekend in May is when we do the bulk of our planting, annuals, vegetables, etc. Our season is shorter than yours. Most of my veg garden is harvested by September , parsnips, carrots, pumpkins last a little longer. In October
we pull out out tubers (like Dahlias) for storage, plant spring bulbs and do a clean up. Snow flurries come and go starting in October. We don’t normally get snow that stays until December but it can be earlier. The earliest I can remember was Oct 14 one year. As you can imagine, we love spring!! Love Monty Don! I don’t watch TV but I have watched him on Netflix and You Tube and follow him on Insta. Thanks for the early spring inspo. You do a lovely job on the channel. I enjoy watching you very much. Cheeky thumbs up from Canada!

I live in zone 6B in in the western U.S.A. We plant bulbs in October or so and mine are just now coming up. I can't wait to see them bloom after a long, cold winter. We can't safely plant in the spring here until about mid-May because of the likelihood of frost and occasionally snow. We generally have snow from November through March and sometimes even into April. I love Gardener's World and can watch it on BritBox or even RUclips. I am addicted to British garden programs and watch any that I can find. Thanks for sharing your garden with us. It is really cute!

In Australia in autumn there is no snow. We plant spring bulbs late winter so July/august so they will flower in Spring. Some areas of NSW get snow in July. Sometimes it’s not much , sometimes a lot. It’s march and the east coast of Australia has had nothing but rain for two weeks. Everything is being washed away. Two more weeks of rain is due. Padded the bench seat, added a couple of comfy chairs and a little table and of course a comfy kitty bed. It will make it nicer not to feel like a tomb. I haven’t had access to Gardener’s World ( I am VERY aware of Monty) but I do have a temporary access to Britbox so I will look for it there and on UTube! 😊 I live in Seacoast NH, USA. We are still experiencing weather that is sometimes too cold and a day or so of warmer temps in the 40s or 50s. The ground is still rather frozen so no gardening can be done as yet. We are considered a Zone 6a here. Our falls can last deep into November. Sometimes snow comes at the beginning of December or after, around Christmastime. My 70 year old body requires I wait until it is reasonably warm outside before I can begin my spring cleanup. I will be starting a few seeds inside a week or so, also grass seed outside! It is a difficult time of year as looking through catalogs becomes old at this point. We ALL, gardeners that is, are anxious to be OUTSIDE! Thank You for always lifting my spirits 😊🤗🌷

Honey you can cut the eyes apart and let them dry a few days now and plant them.also with all the potatoes you have on your window seal and if you plant them all you will be able to feed a small army. I’ve grown potatoes for 50 years and a lot of potatoes can be cut into at least 2 pieces and sometimes a lot more as long as there’s 1 grow eye (were the roots are forming) they should grow like weeds. Good luck I’m loving your garden updates.

We've started to get a bit warmer temperatures (today is 54degrees) we'll be nice again tomorrow (Monday) but then we're back to showers and cooler temperatures. Since you've inspired me to get outside and get some gardening going, yesterday I planted 40 Dutch Iris bulbs and 6 phlox bulbs! I still have 18 Ranunculus bulbs to set out, but that will have to wait for a little while. I have tulips and daffodils sprouted, but no flowers just yet. I haven't planted any crocus bulbs, yet I have a volunteer army of them in one flower bed and another group starting across the yard! Such a pretty sight! In Vermont, we had snow 2 days ago. It doesn't last but the ground is still quite hard. But the first crocuses and snowdrops have arrived. Many times they'll get a dusting of snow but manage to survive. Of course, nowadays nothing is predictable but we get some growing in September: that's when my morning glories are at their best. Best results, when we assume everything is an annual and are blessed when it comes up the following year.

My Irish granny used to fill a jelly jar 3/4 full with water, cut a thin slice off end of potato, stick toothpicks on all sides of potato, then submerge its "white bottom" into te water, while toothpicks kept rest of potato above water. She kept those jars on a sunny kitchen window sill. It grew "eyes", then took to growing roots quickly....she would put the heavily rooted potato in the early Spring garden...and potatoes grew quickly.

Hello from south Alabama USA .....love your videos sweet girl! The things on the potatoes are what we call eyes. We cut them and plant in the garden in rows. It's back breaking when you do a big garden but so worth it. We would buy cutting potatoes and cut all the eyes and then plant them. The birds sound so nice....so excited for spring! Your garden is looking pretty.

It's almost time! Your green thumb is going to really pay off, & I cannot wait! I love how you always take your time, don't rush through things, & don't try to cut corners. You have the patience for gardening, & seem to know in your mind's eye how things will look when in bloom. So, soon we'll be able to see what you've envisioned, & it will be lovely! I think the pond was a great idea, too!

I am in Buffalo, New York -- zone 6A--and we are known for our long winters and heavy snowfall. So, we plant our spring bulbs in October through early November, and they winter in the ground. They're just starting to come up this past week in my neighborhood--snowdrops for the most part, but we'll see daffodils and tulips within the next 3 weeks. The mourning doves are back from migrating south for the winter, so spring is around the corner! (Having said that, we often see snow in April, and even the first week in May, though not as much, usually, as in December through February!) And I do watch Monty Don on BritBox, it's a subscription service the way Netflix is. I'm pretty sure we see the new one when you do! 🌹🌹🌹🏠🏠🏠

My spring bulbs started coming up last week as it go to 70 degrees but they will be fine. My frost free date is not.until mid to late May at which time I can plant annuals so between now and.then, I start my spring cleanup on the nicer days even if more snow is coming. I love watching your videos and really enjoyed the little table.redo! Love the runner and pink items! Thanks for being here.

I live in the Montreal area and yes we get bulbs, we get them around the end of April. Usually the snow is pretty much gone in mid April. The bulbs do not stay long because summer comes really quick. One day it is Spring and the week following the grass has grown and the bulbs are too hot and wilt. We get a beautiful Autumn and it stays until the start of November. We had a beautiful Winter with lots of snow and not too much Ice.. The skiers were very happy. This week it is Spring Break in Montreal and lots of people are at the ski hill up north. Have a great day enjoy your garden wish I were there….

I'm in Perth, Western Australia and we plant our bulbs now in Autumn to flower in Spring. We place colder climate loving bulbs like tulips and hyacinths in the fridge for 6-8 weeks to "trick" them into flowering better. Daffodils, Freesias Jonquils, etc can remain in the soil throughout the year just fine. Summer bulbs like dahlias, gladiolis etc grow extremely well here too and they are planted around July for Summer flowering (December onward) and these can be left in the ground year after year also.

I’m in Canada and our ‘planting’ time for summer is May after all danger of frost has past. We plant all of our spring bulbs in the fall and they’re actually starting to come up now. I do seed starting in my basement for some things but almost anything can be found at local nurseries or mail order or big box stores, Home Depot etc. Our summers can be really hot, over 40 at some point in the summer so our gardens are pretty amazing, just a shorter season.

Hi from Sydney, Australia 🤗 Britbox here does not have Monty’s Gardener’s World, so have to rely on RUclips. Love the surprise of bulbs popping up in spring - freesia, jonquils, daffodils. Shuswap region of British Columbia Canada growing zone 6a , -10 C. It was a beautiful day here as well, ice has melted off the lake but ground is still covered in about 6 inches of snow. The sun has some warmth to it so there is thaw. We do plant spring bulbs and where the snow has melted in my tiny yard ( in southern exposed garden area) I see some tulips poking through. There will be snowdrops growing and some buds on trees, pussywillows are out. I drove to Kamloops on Friday, much dryer area, 1.5 hrs away, snow was gone but everything still brown. I walked to the lake this morning and the birds are back, lots of ducks, geese on the lake and the beautiful sound of red winged blackbirds, my grandma’s favourite bird. I noticed your fence seems 12 feet high. Our city bylaws allow 6 foot fences in back yard and 4 feet in the front. Love your garden and greenhouse. Looking forward go seeing all your spring flowers in bloom. Oh, we do get britbox but I’ve never watched Garden World. I stick to RUclips. One of my fav channels is Jeri Landers. She is a wonderful artist/gardener and avid antique collector. Lots of American history. Love her hobby farm and all her animals from Hop Along hollow ( her farm) are in her stories books.

I’m in Vermont, USA, and we have a 5th season that we call “mud season”. In late March through April we have massive melts with occasional snow storms and muddy roads everywhere! By April we have spring bulbs coming up, and they live for about as long as other zones I’ve lived in. BUT, I have lived in warmer zones and didn’t realize hydrangea and butterfly bush can live for super long in climates like Vermont due to the cooler weather! 😍

    Hi Catherine,
Thank you for another beautiful that made me smile. I live in Ontario Canada, about an hour and a half north of Toronto. I’m zone 5B and yes we still have a few feet of snow! About 5cm more just yesterday! I’m so sick of it! It takes forever to leave! I do still plant bulbs but I do it in the fall (October/November) because it’s too hard to work the ground in the spring. Our rule of thumb is to not plant any annuals until the May 24 long weekend. It’s not until then that the risk of frost is truly gone. It’s a long painful wait!!! Our growing season usually lasts into October, but the last few years I’ve had a few thing until November. Typically it snows or freezes rain for Halloween. Our season is so short☹️. I’ve got my eye on a small Hartely greenhouse…it’s on my bucket list! Anyway, thanks again for the video, I wish we could “hang” and have a cup of tea together!

Where I am in Canada we've got about 5 feet of snow still , and our average temp for this week is -20C. The snow will hopefully melt by end of April/beginning of May but I don't usually do any spring gardening. My neighbours tulips usually spring up around that time though. Our growing season is quite short, normally from the end of may to the end of September. Our 'transition seasons' of spring and fall are very quick and aren't usually very defined seasons, we essentially have long winters with snow sometimes starting in October and lasting until May (again, depending on the amount of snow), and 3 months of a good hot summer. I'd love to move somewhere that has more defined seasons though, being cooped up during these long winters make me crave the sunshine that spring has :)

Daffodils and most other bulbs bloom between April and May. Tempatures goes between +5 to - 10c. Snow will melt fast when it's the time. We can’t plant outside much until after Mother’s Day in May. The chickens dig up my bulbs and eat them so I satisfy myself with about a hundred plants in the house. I’m in Washington state (the Pacific Northwest) in the U.S. but in the central part where it’s high desert.
I’ve only heard of Gardener’s World from you. I have terrible dry winds and live in a hill so I don’t agonize about the outside of the house. We have about an acre of lawn and a few rose bushes. I have one garden bed and lots of containers. I grow veggies 🥗 in the box and flowers in the containers, but they have to be weather hardy.

We have a pretty long summer here, some years more than others. I had flowers growing this past year until November. My daughter lives 500 miles to the north in Wisconsin which is further north than parts of Canada, in zone 2. She definitely has a much shorter growing season, she had snow in September already and probably will until May. Your yard is so quaint and lovely. Planting spring flowers will happen with warmer weather and no chance of frost… maybe late May. We usually never planted until late in May or early June. Just need the warmer weather. We have a shorter growing season, but occasionally really warm way into September. Just hard to count on the northern states for a sure thing. Enjoyed the video!
