      Hello Sean,
      Poker is such a mental game, emotions run so high. I am not surprised that the champion is big on meditation as it helps to find a sense of stability, solidity and clarity in the midst of an emotional whirlwind. Many top level performers practice meditation to be able to perform to the best of their abilities in the most stressful moments. Glad you joined the meditation train. I hope this will give you the edge you're looking for and being you event more goodness! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

      1. Planting Seeds: Practicing Mindfulness with Children by Thich Nhat Hanh
      2. Happy Teachers Change the World: A Guide for Cultivating Mindfulness in Education by Thich Nhat Hanh

    Thank you so much for this video. This is exactly what I needed. I lost my son a few months ago in a very bad tragedy. I’ve been grieving very badly the way that I haven’t been to able to go on with my routine life. Haven’t been able to focus on anything but living in a constant pain and sorrow with frequent suicidal thoughts crossing my mind. I heard meditation would help me out. I don’t know anything about meditation but I think this video is a good start for me. Looking forward to more of your videos in the future. God bless you

    • @PeacefulBreathing

      Hello gemenigal, I am so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain with you. Nothing will remove the pain, but with tools you may suffer less and find a way back to live a "normal" life again. My teacher, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh said: "If you know how to suffer, you will suffer less." He too lost many friends and students during the Vietnam war.
      Meditation can heal. It really can. You can learn how to be with your pain, how to generate compassion for yourself. What would be useful in my opinion is to find a group to support you in your journey. There are meditation groups that meet online or in person. In the meditation tradition that I practice in, we practice listening to each other, listening to each other pain and it is one of the most healing practice i have encountered. Just to be able to share one's pain and feel to be understood and supported. It doesn't have to be a lonely journey. We need each other. You can find an online group here: www.plumline.org/.
      In terms of resources, a book from my teacher called: "how to live when a loved one dies" would help you soothe your pain.
      Here's a talk: ruclips.net/video/efjfH2kP_2M/видео.html
      From my experience, the fundamental practice is to recognize your pain and embrace it, breathe with it with the most tenderness you can generate and find healing elements in the present moment as much as you can.
      Hope this helped but always feel free to reach out, I am honored to help you.

    I've seen video talking about deep breaths, what do you advise ?

    • @PeacefulBreathing
      @PeacefulBreathing  4 месяца назад

      There are many different paths that lead to the same realization. Mindfulness or the cultivation of mindful awareness is one way. There are other practices as you mentioned that involve deep breathing techniques. I have too little experience with those to offer proper guidance. I think however that what I share is a little easier to start with on your own. Deep breathing may lead to strong experiences faster. Mindfulness is more gentle. It’s about slowing down, getting to know your mind. Getting to know your true self. It’s about being mindful throughout your day, recognizing your patterns, changing them, cultivating seeds of compassion in you. Hope this helps, feel free to reach out again if you need to.

    • @PeacefulBreathing
      @PeacefulBreathing  5 лет назад +1

      Hi there. I usually breathe in and out through my nose during meditation. But there is not 1 way to do it. If you feel more comfortable with breathing in and out through the mouth, then do it this way. It's perfectly fine. Then, see how if feels for you. Does it help you feeling more calm, more centered? Then great! Meditation instructions are simply guidelines. One has to experiment and see for themselves what works and what doesn't. Hope this helps, good luck with your practice and let me know if you have any other questions!

    Meditation to manage pain hiw does it work

    • @PeacefulBreathing
      @PeacefulBreathing  4 месяца назад +1

      There are many meditation practices that can be helpful when dealing with pain. Mindful breathing will take your attention away from it. Learning to relax in the morning midst of the pain can be a great ally. Third, learning to separate the physical pain and the narrative that comes with it. The rumination on the pain can further the suffering. Fourth is the practice of self compassion, learning to be with the pain and with yourself with a loving and caring attitude. And finally, practicing gratitude can be a great shift in how we experience our difficulties. I hope this helps.

    I think i have OCD....does meditate help???

    • @PeacefulBreathing
      @PeacefulBreathing  3 года назад

      It does ... meditation trains us to recognize the energy of OCD when it is there and it can help us in those moments to let it pass without acting on it. If you have OCD, then the energy is very strong, it's compulsive and wwe cannot stop ourself from doing what we are obsessed by but by training our mind in meditation to recognize what is there without acting on it, we can bring this skill in those moments when the energy of OCD is there. Hope I make sense, maybe I'll make a video on it.

    My therapist wants me to practice mindfulness as a way to identify my thoughts and process them but almost immediately my mind goes clear how can i drill down and get those thoughts back?

    • @PeacefulBreathing
      @PeacefulBreathing  3 года назад +1

      At first, when we meditate, we get lost in thoughts, like a day dream and at some point we wake up from it. At the beginning, we may not recall what the content of the thought was. But with practice, we get better at catching our thoughts, when they start or when we are in the middle of then. We can see more clearly their content. When we are able to do that, we can look into our thoughts. Are they about the past? The future? Are they true? And very importantly, how do I react to these thoughts? Do I believe them?
      Very often, we think about the future. We think about what could go wrong. And we tend to believe those thoughts which create a state of anxiety. When we can catch those thoughts, we can look deeply into them, see that often they aren’t true, we can also understand where they came from. And with practice, we can just observe them and let them go, without grasping them, without getting entangled with them. Hope it makes sense. Let me know!

      I made a video about meditating with music here: ruclips.net/video/VBgUXp_gGIo/видео.html. This has the pros and cons. If you want to meditate with music, I would recommend something light and relaxing. Maybe search on youtube, tibetan relaxing music or something like that.

    I've seen video talking about deep breaths, what do you advise ?

      There is a whole science about breathing techniques in the yogic system with short fast breaths then long deep breaths and so on. I honestly know very very little of it but you could find it interesting.
      What i practice and share is mindfulness meditation. In this practice, we train ourself to see things are they truly are without adding any comments or judgement to what is happening which in turn helps to understand things better and have more clarity. (And we start with the breath) . That being said, I do enjoy taking a few deep breaths at the beginning of my meditation. It helps open up the body and relax it and also redirect the mind to the breath by emphasizing the breath. Then I go back to a natural breathing pace. Does it make sense and does this help?
