I’m over 60 and never get tired of his music and genius. A very sad time for music. RIP Alexi
I was around 12 years old when i discovered COB, i remember i was so disturbed by Alexis voice because i never heard something similar, but something inside me wanted more....thanks Alexi for opening the door for me to beauty of extreme metal!
"YAOW!!!!"- Alexi Laiho
This dude's music got me through college and beyond. This sucks really bad. RIP and love to the family. Man. No words.
I feel u
His death has probably hit me worse than any death I've ever experienced before. He was the reason why I picked up the guitar in the first place. My lifelong dream was to move to Finland and meet him someday. I don't know what to feel. I've lost the light of my life today.
Yep and Now Joey. Reason I really got into drums
Same, brother. Same.. been well over a year and half. Still reeling.
You are not alone man. I litteraly cried when i heard he died. he was my teenager guitar hero and still was 15-20 years later. Some night like tonight, I play some random COB video and still miss him.
@@DeadMan1nc Me too man. Learned the Are You Dead Yet song while being teary eyed remembering the legend we lost. Alexi was a great guy and inspiration for many. May he rest in peace.
@@DeadMan1nc you’re not alone
I have carried a guitar pick that belonged to Alexi in my wallet for over ten years. This man was a tremendous guitarist. I am very sad to hear of his passing. He joins many that were taken too soon. Epic guitar player and incredible inspiration.
What kind of pick is it? If I may ask.
This is just
”Another Night another demise"
Your legacy will never die Alexi
Saw them live 5 times. So sad that he's gone.
lucky you
They were a big band to a lot of people in their teens, including me. When you've loved the music from the bottom of your heart as a 15 year old, it never leaves you.
Reading this comment section has been strangely comforting. I'm still in shock over this. This compilation was great because showed everything I absolutely loved about Alexi and what made him such a beautiful person. Talented musician, a brilliant performer and just all around down to earth and humble dude. We will miss you Alexi.
Rest in Peace brother. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. I know you've helped me through some dark times in life, and I'm sure others as well. We will never forget you.
Hyvästi Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho. Lepää rauhassa
Tämä niin vitusti 🤘😔
Aww man ,What a fucking legend. So disappointing, I discovered Children of Bodom last year and I'm absolutely heartbroken, he was my guitar hero. He will be remembered as one of the Greatest Guitarists of all Time. This was a huge shock for me this morning. R.I.P Alexi Laiho \m/
Been listening to COB since i was 12 i'm 18 now and in all of my years of listening to melodic death metal and extreme metal I have yet to find a band that can even rival them in that catagory
Him and The Rev are the one that definitely hit too close to home. Alexi was an excellent guitarist and vocalist, he's gonna be missed by all.
i legit thought the same thing.
This man was a metal god. He was truly one with the guitar, he's in the hall of fame of eternity. His family should be proud of his legacy. Rest in peace, Alexi.
I remember the first time listen to Children of bodom its like wow how death metal can be this beautiful, gonna miss Alexi’s beautiful playing
This man was insanely talented. He basically just plugged a guitar into an amp and that was it. Ready to kill.
Very true. His setup was incredibly simple and he liked it that way. His playing spoke for itself.
yeah he never needed a good guitar tone, he just make anything work
One of the best metal front men, it takes a hell of a lot of skill to sing and play like he did at the same time. RIP❤️
That's one thing that always amazed me about Alexi. Most front men will just play chords while singing. A lot of the time Alexi would be playing notes or scales while singing at the same time. Not many people can do that. The guy was great. RIP Wild Child.
I actually feel like a part of me has died after hearing this news (Sounds weird, i know). Alexi and CoB have meant so much to me with their music and the inspiration to develop my guitar playing watching Alexi do his thing. So it's like a part of my youth just died.. I had such high hopes for his new band, but at least we get to hear the songs they finished. Will be listening to CoB on and off to the day i die. Rest in peace, brother!
@@oldjim1078 Yeah man, it's exactly like that.. Thanks for the comment! Keep rocking
When Dimebag Darrell died in 2004 I was crushed, and now that Alexi has died I think I’ve gone completely numb.
You are right, that's exactly how I feel now..

I can't believe this, this one shook me up badly
The reason why I started playing the guitar. So wrong that he's gone at 41. RIP

I can't believe this, what a loss.. Rest In Power legend, thanks for the songs, the hair raising melodies and the memories. I wish you knew how much your music helped me cope with life, I just wish!
0:58 just Finland things Haha. Rest in peace.
The history of ice carousels is not very well known but similar things have existed in many countries where are proper winter conditions and frozen lakes. It can be Finnish invention but it also can be from somewhere else.
Not entirely sure, but the lake looks like lake Bodom, the biggest lake in Alexi's hometown Espoo.
@@thomassundback7880 Lake Bodom has also a little bit darker story behind..
2:20 is also just Finland things... I've been there for 4 months and people are so fucking unbelievable polite... even the police wtf
Something wild at Lake Bodom
I was named after a guitar player, and I named my son after a guitar player. THIS guitar player. dude will be missed by many. RIP Alexi
I love how the cops say you're disturbing people😂not me I could listen to it forever
Elderly people probably shit on their pants when they heard him playing.
And millions and millions worldwide would be happy to pay for him to disturb them, especially now for just one more time...

The song he is playing is "Vihaan Humppaa" by Eläkeläiset (a Finnish parody of the song "Hate me!")
Rest in perkele Alexi. He was one of my biggest inspirations to keep playing guitar.
Same bro...
Let's all keep playing making him immortal
Rest in power legend. You will keep rocking the heaven and our hearts. Forever.
His very own unique playing style makes me want to explore on guitar..even learn bunch of stuff through his lesson. Still cant believe he passed away. 😭
The acoustic 'HATE ME'' in finish out in public is hilarious.
it's actually an Eläkeläiset song, they make humppa"covers" of popular songs with humor lyrics
Alexi is just one unforgettable person
This is so sad... the person who made me love the guitar and metal music... my heart is totally broken 💔😭
Rehellisesti suomen hienoin mies!
2020 sai pahimman mahollisen lopun...
Alexi remains immortal through his music, a true guitar hero, an unforgettable legend.
Children of Bodom has been the soundtrack of my life since the very first time i heard "Hate Me". 16 years after i still can't get enough of this band.
He was the reason why i created such a close bond with some of my best friends.
Never Forgotten.
Guitar God, and my fucking hero
Still chokes me up watching these videos.. always will. Rip brother.
I never went to see them on purpose, but ended up seeing Bodom 3 times on festivals and as a Slayer special guest. Always full of energy and attitude and humour. Also, I finally gave in after their third show and bought a cd, Hatebreeder a year ago. Now I am very very glad I did. Respect to you, dude, your family and all your fans. I only scratched the surface, and even based on that, Bodom was full of insane skill and energy!
It was always incredible to see there was a world renowned guitarist from the Nordic countries growing up. Gave this little Norwegian some hope he could make it too lol. Absolute legend, I will never forget the 100 Guitars From Hel
He is Finnish tho

Alexi was the reason I took so long to learn sweep picking years and years ago. I haven't listened to much bodom in the last few years, but I would like to say thank you to a man who was a part of the guitar player I am today. RIP good sir, you will always be remembered in the metal world. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
sweep picking but definityly alt picking god
No way man, this isn't real. Childen of Bodom are literally the reason I listen to metal today, 10+ years later after discovering them. I haven't felt this sad for a "celebrity" death since Steve Irwin. Not even Chester Bennington and Linkin Park is my gem.
The only reason you listen to metal today? That's sad
@@Celestial_Being666 I never said only, but they were the ones that introduced me to harsh vocals, even though I didn't like them at first, but I forced myself to like them, because I loved everything else about the songs. There are a few other bands that initially introduced me to metal itself, but not extreme metal, which I listen to today.

RIP Alexi! Totally didn't see this one coming. We all have ro take our leave from this world but I would have so liked to see him to grow older and use his talents to so much more. On the other hand, he also gave us so much more than one could have ever imagined. As a finn whos' youth was filledand inspired by his music, I must also consider this to be an end of an era.
