Roope was so overlooked. Such an amazing guitarist.
He is super super cool too, i remember the first gig i went to for bodom, was front row and was head banging helling his name, he came over and pointed at me and pulled a fish and ripped out a solo head banging with me. super nice guy. hes just the quiet guy, was never trying to fight alexi for the spotlight, he just loved hanging out with the boys.
he was not overlooked. Laiho threw him out of the band, because he was better guitarist, than him and he couldn't handle it...
Not in this video he wasn't! 95 percent of it was focused on him!

@@rycka7260I wouldn't say he's a better guitarist, his style appeals more to some people, and he's got a very unique style. But I wouldn't really say he was better. These guys were like two peas in a pod. Beautiful harmonies and they just absolutely completed each other. They should have worked out their differences and things would be much different today. They are both amazing guitar gods. Now Roope isn't doing much and has no motivation besides drinking and it is heartbreaking to watch.

"Jackson era"... more like practicing 8 hours every day era.
I can't think of Alexi sitting and practicing licks for 8 hours. I mean, is something that everybody has to do sometimes and he probably did, but there are certain people that make it look really easy and simple, like Alexi or Roope, giving the impression that you don't have to spend that amount of time practicing.
@@ManueN Alexi actually commented on this in his biography. If i remember correctly a rough translation would be something like "I spent weeks in a fucking cellar playing classical pieces to be able the shred like this, so of course i'm going to show it off. And everyone who puts in the effort should do so." He was also a student here in the finnish pop/jazz conservatory, so i'm pretty sure he has had his fair share of 8 hour sessions. :D

Marco and Roope are such fucking pioneers of Finnish metal, and having Alexi here (and in Sinergy) as an absolutely prodigy is just, crazy.

This video really is gold for Bodom fans. Alexis and Roope were unstoppable, and I saw them many times, here in Vancouver. Roope is an incredibly talented, underrated player, and he did not deserve to be kicked out of Bodom.

Everytime I come back to this video I'm rendered speechless... These guys were each playing monsters in their own right, but together they made something that was beyond the sum of their part.

7:14 back in the days, that first solo made me nuts. I've wondered many times if it was Alexi or Roope who was playing.
Roope was the man. Always loved his work... Stone, Latvala Bros, those years with COB. Kind of sad to not see him around anymore.

To me, Sinergy was the ultimate guitar band. Especially the To Hell and Back era. Best stuff Laiho and Latvala ever did.
Check out Stone and Latvala Bros if you haven’t. Best stuff Roope did, according to me!

Stone's great too, we got to warm up for them on their 2013 reunion tour. I got to ride on their tour bus for a while, good times.

I'm so happy to have found this video! Definitely envy the people who were at this clinic. I love that they played snippets of Sinergy songs, the guitar work on those albums was amazing. I *WANT* that Sinergy longsleeve that Marco was wearing too.
Holy shit :) Roope and Alexi are legends. In 6.08 starts very nice Sinergy song, so brilliant and technic. From guitarist view its very nice to hear and see "instrumental" version and hear better instruments. I saw Sinergy and Bodom in Kuopio around 2001 ?? and Sinergy's gig was THE BEST GIG i have been ever. I got signatures :) and my ears ringed 2 days. I hope mr. rock'n roll Roope Latvala continues playing and composing because he is my idol and Alexi Laiho too.

Damn, if this footage was taken on May 2002, that means that Alexi played just a tiny part of the intro of a song that wasn't released yet. 11:05 You're Better Off Dead from the album Hate Crew Deathroll release on 2003 and the single on September 2002. Interesting.
Could have been a riff he had kicking around for a while, I know sometimes I'll meditate on a certain riff or lead for a while before I actually put it in a song

Closest one i could afford was the RRX24 with yellow pinstripes. I'm thinking of deleting the neck pickup and all extra buttons/switches. The reverse headstock must stay because thats too much modification for my skills

I am gathering these guitars were the last of the IMC era Jackson custom shop guitars, Fender acquired Charvel/Jackson in 02. The Fender stuff is not bad to me but there is a vibe missing, ESP had it.
