Hi Karen. I am a very old lady from the NW corner of Washington State. I love alone and so I can quilt every day all day if I want. I married a Mennonite and was totally indoctrinated into the quilting life. In the run up to our election I had the news on all the time. Now I have other you tube on. I listen to you most of the time because the other channels are pretty much project oriented...not what I need. Yesterday you had an old tape of you and FQS talking about the Jelly Jam quilt which I was actually working on while I listened. Love the quilt, but I have never cut up so many strips at one time. Thanks for the companionship. My quilt is gorgeous .
I listened to you tonight while processing scraps. I am prepping for the declutter. I was trying to make all kinds of scrap sizes, but I am now a convert. I now only cut the 2-1/2” squares and strips, 5” squares and strips and 1-1/2” strips for log cabin blocks. I cut the log cabin strips to the lengths I use and just stack them up on a design board. This makes my scraps so much more usable. Thank you for all your tips and tricks! You are always a joy.
Thank you Karen for a fabulous year of videos! Your guest interviews are so different, thought provoking and intriguing. Your creations are colourful and inspiring. You yourself do so much to foster this amazing community spirit, and the world needs more of that. I’ve followed you from day 1 and will continue to follow and enjoy. Congratulations for what you have created for us all. ❤. Have a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025. 😊
Hello Karen, Love that you went to a Taylor Swift - I attended the Cincinnati concert with my niece and her daughters. It was a night not to forgot. The long I am away from the event the more I wish I could relive the evening. Absolutely awesome and I am a 78 years old. Been watching you for years and love your interviews and videos!! Happy Sewing
Karen I have been watching for years but I think my favorite thing is that you went to the Taylor Swift concert. 😍 I am jealous. Thanks for all you do for the quilting community, I have learned a lot from you!!
Hello! This is Jingmei Chen from Taiwan. So happy to see you pop up when I turn on my mobile this morning. So helpful hearing all those questions and your answering. Thank you!!
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts Were you?! I'm a self-taught quilter from Taiwan, a great island country in South -East Asia, and you are one of my E-teachers ( one of the greatest). I did a Bargello quilt following your tutoring, and gave it to my nephew as his wedding gift. So, thank you again.
I also have a table mount long arm (Sweet 16). Definitely not a domestic machine. I was having similar thread problems as well as thread nests on underneath side. I tried everything-changing needles, thread, fabric batting, bobbins. I ended up taking it into the shop and it turned out to be a timing problem.
Hi Karen catching up from Sydney Australia. It's been very hot here as we just start summer. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and thanks for great videos this year.🌲♥️🇦🇺
Watching on Wednesday morning. My husband and I both enjoy your videos. He loves organization! I live in the Phoenix area and hope to meet you in February. ❤
Hi Karen, enjoyed this newest Q&A very much as I do all your videos. Looking forward to our6th declutter challenge, always find something to pass on as my tastes change just as you said. Wish you and your family a very merry Christmas or whichever holiday you celebrate this season and a very happy and healthy new year.
Personally, I look at the density of the piecing first as I want all my pieces secured by quilting. Then I look at the flavour of the quilt. and then I try to use a pattern that satisfies both
Concerning the shredding thread. I know it sounds silly, but sometimes you have to just snip the strand, pull it through and retread it. This has saved me a few times. It’s kind of like my IT guy asking me when I call him, “have you rebooted”. Funny thing is, it usually works. 😂 Best of luck.
Has anyone noticed a change in the quality of Hobbs 80/20 batting? Recently I purchased black 80/20 from an online shop. The batting is more like scrim than batting. No loft at all. II cannot use it. I compared it to regular 80/20 that I had and it is far inferior. I wrote to Hobbs and they suggested that I submit a quality claim form which I sent in to Hobbs. Just curious if anyone has noticed quality issues. The online retailer sent me another package and the quality is just as poor.
I have not been happy with the Hobbs Batting for the past 2 years. Checking out other options & better value for money. Quilters put a lot of time into quilt making & should not compromise all that hard work with inferior batting at the end of the process. Just my thoughts.

Long arm quilt machine advice. I want one without a computer. How small can I go?
Sorry, can’t answer that one

I also tend to use one type of batting so that I can easily use the scraps.
@@carriesaindon5382 So happy I’ve heard this hint. Makes so much sense.

??When you start a quilt do you finish it right away or wait/avoid the whole binding part?
Often there is a pause between making the blocks and making the top. I find that transition the hardest
No snow here

They have four different types of 80/20 or various thicknesses…perhaps is a different version
