My daughter lost her husband in January and his caregiver moved out in April. They were hoarders and filthy. My Daughter & I did the 30 day challenge, Once I got her moving she has a so, so much cleaner home. AND She now does it without me there encouraging her. I am so proud of her.
Whoa….”organization doesn’t create more space, decluttering does.” You’d think that would be obvious but you nailed it!!??🎉🎉 Decluttering HAS to come first!
i LOVE that you put your podcasts on YT as a video. For some reason, i NEED the visual, even if you are just sitting there, so THANK you!!! now i can watch them all :)
Thank you, Cass. I was raised by a hoarder, and have always tended toward clutter. In recent years I'm moving toward minimalism (thanks to Dawn!) -- but the rest of my household isn’t (husband + adult daughter w/health issues.) I've started to "zone" (and use Dana's "Where would I look for this FIRST?") Helping friends move recently has also helped my perspective, to let things GO! I hauled away vehicle loads of their donation stuff (and kept select few that I will USE), distributing most to friends and homeless who actually NEED things, the rest to thrift stores that benefit a good cause. I've started your 30 Day Challenge, but will restart (and make it a habit, in general) when I'm not away from home caregiving so much.
I work retail lol as a consequence I tend to organize my home the same way a department store does . Grocery department obviously belongs in the kitchen and or whatever space you use for pantry storage.... apparel belongs in closets and whatever storage solutions you use for those items ect .... electronics has a space....office supplies and crafts has a space. Bathroom, kitchen, lawn n garden... whatever category it is i have a "department" for it created somewhere in my home. If i have a hard time knowing where something should be kept i just think about the department i would find it in in rhe store and it makes it easier to put away!
I so need the service you are providing volunteering. I have kept an organized and clean home until ..... After being diagnosed w/cancer in 2011, I went on to develop other illnesses. One such illness led to 2 hip replacements after both hip bones died from my being given too high a dose of high dose steroids. Then I began seeing and crafting to deal w/the stress and my home got out of control. I'm working on it and learning all the new ideas to try so I can find workable & maintainable solutions. I have to remember its important to celebrate that which I do accomplish.
I finally had a day where I could both unload AND reload the dishwasher without a nap. Today, I did more laundry than my recent energy allowed. I think I am finally moving back toward health. It has been a struggle to do even the bare minimum, so decluttering and organizing has not been possible. My progress this week with maintenance has given me hope for forward momentum.
Get well soon, glad you’re seeing a change. I have low energy too. I unload the dishwasher while the microwave is heating my lunch or dinner and sing a parody song about it usually to You’re the one that I want from Grease. Best part is there’s a treat at the end. Hang in there and be kind to yourself. I congratulate myself for putting my socks on, it all feels like an accomplishment. Anything you do including a nap is progress and what you need at this time. ❤
That is great to hear. Every good day needs to be celebrated. Over the last decade i told the family i could not play board games or card games because it was just to much movement for my arms and might trigger a pain cycle. This Sunday i sat down to sort physical family photos pre digital. I usually do 5-10 minutes then stare at the project to decide what to do with next months 5-10 minutes. But i got 2 hours in and still no symptoms. I had a medication change lately so i hope this is a change and not just a single good day. But if it was a single good days I’m going to celebrate that. Take tiny steps every day for decades is hard. And it’s the path i have chosen because if i don’t try I definitely won’t improve. If I do try and I don’t improve that’s ok too. Reality is what reality is. Keep it up and good job. 👏😁
Yeah you! I love your attitude. I also follow Dana K. White and have adopted “5 minutes better” philosophy. Some days it is 5 minutes a day and some days it is 5 minutes several times a day.
Recently I have been playing a game with my adult daughter who lives out of state. She visits and secretly takes 3 items from my house. If I can guess what she took and want it back, she will bring it back. If I can't guess the 3 items in a week, or I don't want it back, she keeps it.
Friday, I decluttered my bathroom closet and one basket had new toothbrushes and new toothpaste that I receive from the dentist. I use an electric toothbrush, so they just pile up. I also cleared out a lot of new cleaning supplies and yesterday, I sent all on its way to the hurricane victims on a truck that our town is filling. It made me feel better in so many ways.
It's so true that rearranging what you have can make a space feel refreshed. I moved a cat tree from near the patio door to another spot in the living room and replaced it with a bench. The cat is happy because she can still see out the window but the cat tree is away from the cold, winter air near the windows. I'm happy because the room feels more spacious without the window partially blocked. Very simple change.
I got so many ideas from this video! THANK YOU!! I just listened to this video with my husband and we got up when you told us 😂 and cleaned the dishes including several pans, cleaned off the kitchen table, put on a tablecloth, folded and put away several loads of clothes as we were listening. Loved your advice about decluttering, organizing according to our patterns and also decorating each season! ❤ You have truly helped me so much!!
I just wanted to sit today and just relax but as I listened to you I got up and started washing my dishes and by the time this video was over I was done with my dishes. Thank you Cas for inspiring me and pushing me to have a tidy home
From where I’m sitting at my dining room table, I count approximately 100 items that could easily be moved or decluttered. Based on the percentages you gave, that would mean I would need to get rid of 25 things. Interesting. And possible . That would definitely refresh my field of vision. I’ll take some before and after pictures just for fun. thank you for the good advice, Cas.
I’m teaching my kid (and myself) that it’s ok to do c grade work… in tidying, getting dressed, exercise, etc… she gets to decide to do ‘A+ to B-‘ work when it’s more important or when she has the energy, or when it’s necessary. Since it’s “C grade” she can also put less time (racing the timer) and put on music or a candle and enjoy the process.
Cas, you are the only one besides Tony Robbins that has helped motivate me. I think it's because I can sense how much you care and know how hard the issues with clutter really are. Thanks again🌷
My parents were having a terrible time organizing one room. There house has the bedrooms the bathrooms and laundry. Then 3 big rooms. A kitchen dining area with one room towards the front door and one room towards the back door. The front room was well set up as a formal visiting area. The other room was their problem. I didn’t have to help them organize at all. I just helped them decide what that room was for. I told them to make a list of what they wanted to do in that room. Piano and music TV at midnight Exercise room Relaxation chair to look at the back yard A quiet reading area and a small library. I was just brutally honest and said they’re having a hard time organizing that because it’s impossible to fit it all. They needed to give up one thing. So they gave the piano to a family member and a couple weeks later the room looked great because everything just fell into place.
@@ecospider5 Lovely! I find I keep to many ‘what if I need it’ items and have decided to ask myself does this item fit the function of the room and what I want the feeling to be in this room. It’s helping, glad to see someone else thinking the same thing and to give me hope to get these items under control. Have a great day!
Something else I do is try and physically see everything I own at least once every 3 years. Go into closets and open a box if it has not been opened in a long long time. I either get rid of it at that point or I say. “That’s where that is. I know I will use that eventually”🤣🤣🤣
@ecospider5 , I have done what you just explained, for several years now. 1. Look at all my things on shelves, and in boxes. 2. Give a 30 second thought about-- if what I just saw-- is something I don't want, need to fix, clean, donate, re-gift, etc. 3. Anything that fits any of those categories, gets removed from its current place, and the item gets put in a location near the front door, to leave my place. 4. Within a week, I've gotton several of those items given away, thrown away, cleaned, re-gifted, etc. And I work on removing the unwanted items over the next weeks.
Giving a 30 second thought to individual things every couple years is really important. Actually putting it in your hands is part of that. Last week I was moving some of my books around and found mold on one of them. The mold cleaned off easily and I was lucky to find this. If it went another year I probably would’ve lost some books. The humidity in the wall behind the bookshelf was 5% higher than expected. So now I know to fix that. If you don’t see your things every once in a while you don’t know if they are deteriorating. So when you decide to keep something take that time to verify the way it’s being stored is not allowing it to deteriorate.
I started this series at the end of October because that's when I first saw the 30-day challenge. I've been participating for 15 days now. It's just 5 minutes, but from every drawer, closet, etc., despite thinking there was nothing there, 5 items still disappear. It works incredibly well. I celebrated my birthday with family, and normally I would feel embarrassed and very insecure because of it. Now, not a cloud in the sky. It's amazing to experience that. Thank you so much for that.
When I was young, I did exactly that! I moved the furniture and decorated four times a year! I loved my home, even though it was old and didn't have the latest appliances.💞 But as our babies came, I had to get a full time job, and I got older (I've been called elderly) with less energy, I've lost that zeal. I still have a tiny Christmas tree and a nativity scene that I put up every year before Christmas! 🌲
I love this. I gave my twenties to my job ("career") then had kids. Now early forties with a large and still young family, I barely have any clue what I'm doing. Your little story is inspiring!
After listening to half of this, I put it on pause and did almost 6 hours of cleaning my cupboards, changing things around and decluttering. Thanks Cas! :)
Thank you so much for your amazing content! Every video and podcast you create is so motivating and inspiring. Your advice on zoning, decluttering, and organizing really speaks to me, and it's made a huge difference in how I approach my own home. I love how practical and down-to-earth your tips are, and how you focus on creating systems that actually work with our natural habits. You're truly making a positive impact on so many lives, and I’m incredibly grateful for all that you share. I also want to mention how much I appreciate your clear diction and pronunciation - as someone who isn’t a native English speaker, it makes it so much easier for me to follow along and understand everything you say. Keep up the fantastic work!
The dining section of my open plan living/dining looks tons different just because I changed the sideboard, the bookcase and the table. It happenned by need when my husband was painting the walls. And we both looked at it, at each other, went "huh?" and just loved it. The sideboard and the table changed walls but it helped with the flow because it's the walking area from when you come from the kitchen and want to go to the upstairs. Now I don't need to walk around the table. The bookcases were sandwiching the sideboard, but we moved both to the wall next to the kitchen entrance and they look like one big bookcase. And because it's on the smaller wall, it makes it look taller. And the previous wall is now free, making the space look wider. Now we finished painting the living section and I am moving furniture around again. There's the sofas and the tv. Going to create a little rectangular area with a big rug in the middle. Kid is bigger, doesn't need the same big playing space from before. And changing my work-from-home desk to get more light from the windows. Creating a mini office out to the corner. By the way painting is magical. It's like I moved houses and have to rethink decoration.
I'm so glad I put this podcast on. I was getting ready for bed but heard Cas say 'do ...' while you listen so I did the dishes. I was going to leave it for tomorrow because it was overwhelming seeing as I had invited 5 adults over for Thanksgiving dinner then we went to visit my Dad in long-term care. Plus I had an hour's drive to drop off my Mom at her seniors home. I just wanted to rest! Lol I'm very thankful to Cas and I loved the September declutter challenge. 1177 items gone forever. ❤
The shoes, jackets and other random stuff when you enter the house is a nightmare. We use the entrance that leads to the kitchen, laundry and bathroom. So it's not even a hall, it's just a mini corridor basically the size of opening the door... My daugther's shoes and my husband's shoes and jackets are in a little corner of the laundry room, but there's no more room. I still have one wall that I intend to use. Add more hooks to hang jackets, a drop shoe area, a tiny shelf for keys and other things. It's on the wish list. It would save me from jackets on the back of chairs.
I LOVED the 30 day declutter challenge. I went further than I ever have in my decluttering. My space is so much easier to keep clean. Can't wait to keep going :)
Thank you for all the valuable knowledge you gave out in this video. I am currently going through my master bedroom and was told zoning will help. I wish you would go into more detail on how to determine the zones in a room like you ran through the linen closet in this video but for many different areas of a home. I know to some extent this is personalized but maybe just generic zoning to help us get started.
Before I created zones for my space, I used to spend either hours looking for something or get to where I was supposed to be late. Aggravating and frustrating to say the least. Now, I know where everything is at and am not late anymore. As a matter of fact, I gather everything I am going to need the next day a day before and set up a timer for everything I have to do to get ready ahead of time, that way I know how much time I need for each task and be ready when I'm supposed to be ready. I. A senior and need to do this for everything.
I’m 54 years old in my permanent house. My wife and I have a very tidy house. We decided we had already filled every nook and cranny. So we decided if we purchased something we had to Get rid of something else. So far it has worked. But we do try and squeeze more in sometimes. Hopefully that is not our downfall in 20 years 😁
In my mind that is the difference between of a hoarder and an archivist. An archivist stores things so they don’t get damaged or deteriorate and has everything documented of what it is. Having an estate sale for a hoarder is impossible. Having an estate sale for an archivist is easy and profitable.
@@LilCraftyNookmy darling husband passed away suddenly 18 months ago . He had loads of heavy metal old fashioned computer components in his office which were of value to him but meant nothing to me or anyone else. After 12 months of anxiety about what to do with it all I paid a professional clearance company to take it away to recycle . I have now turned the office into a lovely music room with his guitars on display to honour his musical ability and for my grandson to enjoy in the future . Moral of the story is declutter while you can as it saves your loved ones so much grief and anxiety 😢 x
The computers are a good example of things that would need documentation. Between my electronics area and my garage I have over 50 Tupperware bins of supplies I use. If I was gone that has very little value. I do have things like an original Microsoft mouse from the 1980’s. It looks exactly like all the other junk. So I have it in a plastic display box even though it is not displayed. This differentiates it as something of value. Talking about this has made me think I should be labeling our future. Half of our furniture is historical to our families. I need to put a label on the back of those with a story so my grandmas 100 year old sewing machine doesn’t get mistaken as old junk. Without labeling most things people acquire over time is just junk because without that persons knowledge it would be impossible to sort.
When my boys were little, I would rearrange rooms all the time and it would inspire everyone to be more mindful and take better care of stuff. I would only do one room now and then, so it was special and noticeable to us as a family. sometimes I would paint or change up the pictures. Love the zones, too, Cass! Zones are the practical placement of our things so that the space works for us.
My hubbies natural place to put the keys, wallet, coins etc was also the kitchen table too. After almost 3 weeks of constant reminding him that the kitchen bench was not a dumping ground for ANYTHING other than grocery shopping, his new dumping ground that he decided is his bedside table. That was back in 2020 and he’s stuck with it🙌🙌🙌
Thanks so much for sharing the percentages of decluttering needed. Most of my flat surfaces are clear but my hidden storage is too packed to put things away easily and it takes too long to find things. My goal is 25%, great goal for each box or zone I’m decluttering - let go of at least 1 for every 3 things I’m keeping. I doesn’t sound like much, but I have taken out so many trips to goodwill, and thanks to your “permission” I’ve just thrown away so much!Still not to 25% yet… I’ll keep working and keep listening!!
I totally need to hug my home so as I’m listening I got 4 pillow covers for $8…. And it’s not just spending money on something frivolous- it’s for my mental space of having it beautiful
I find I do a lot of things that are opposite to my parents especially around my home. My mum likes to shove something in a drawer and get everyone to play look for each item for 20 mins. Drove me nuts as a bee. I’m so happy to take control of my home as I lived with a hoarder for over 30yrs. Isn’t it great we can break the cycle and live in spaces that work for us? 😊
Great content Cas! The home "never being disorganized again", as wonderful as that idea is, just doesn't seem realistic. Please dive deeper into how this can work, I would love it!
Thank you Cas, wish you were in Cape Town. Come out of a shoulder injury my home is driving me nuts. Its so frustrating and i think because those who have been in the spaces have dumped and not put the items in the designated zones. We're all different kind of organisational buds this is helping me re-think my home
Let me tell you, you helped me so much on my last journey of decluttering! Now I am in another phase 3 years later! I will get back on track with your help!
❤ the video! Yes I decorate for every season. The first reason is because I declutter and clean more so yes I agree fall ❤ house! Yes zone areas! Definitely been doing that! Yes makes easier!
This is good reinforcement for me because I’ve begun zoning things like, storing toilet paper in the linen closet instead of downstairs in the basement because we have bathrooms near the closet and we don’t use the bathroom in the basement. I learned the tip from an ADHD RUclipsr. She called it something different but same concept and changing my thinking is helpful.
It’s 6:30 pm Sunday -I’ve spent this weekend ‘resetting’ my living room- I had 2 side tables around my recliner - too stuffed to get anything done ( I used to sit and work on some watercolor- but nothing got done anymore- it was too much) listening to you for a few years I knew what I had in mind - it took me longer than I anticipated- but I ended up sorting and ‘sifting’ aka decluttering a few more items - now I sit in my recliner a 3shelf unit next to my larger painting table for my brushes etc and only 1 side table to my left - not sure if it will stay So right now I just put my feet up watching you and saying-yep just did that lol - thanks Cas❤
One of mi biggest marriage problem was loosing the house keys.... I began to look for homes to the items and i dont have it down 100% but those keys have a home in my home and in my car and argument solve... Thank you Cass for reminding me of this i need to keep zoning important items ❤
@d3rpwolf785 I am almost keyless now. I keep a front door key but it is just a backup. My car uses my phone as my key. I park my car in the garage. The garage door is opened by my car. If I’m outside and my car is inside I have an app that opens the garage. So I have 3 keys but I don’t ever use them. It’s really nice. I just can’t let my phone battery die. I have a work around if that happens but I have never let it happen.
“Way to go, Captain Obvious Cass!” Your one-liners add another dimension to the very valuable information you give. Thanks so much for inspiring and helping us to gain control over our spaces. We can live better lives and live ourselves more fully.
Thank you for your podcasts and videos. I enjoy them all. I have things pretty much under control, but I need to go through and declutter some more. I have taken you advice on my closet and if I'm not choosing something repeatedly I get rid of it. I also have a place I go through papers. The problem is, I don't go through them right away. When I do go through them, it doesn't take long at all because of the system you've talked about before. The papers are in one place and not multiple areas. I have learned so much!!
This is actually really encouraging... I think we are zoned and relatively organized, we just don't clean as we go and at least once a week are three days behind on dishes. We have 5 kids and my husband works nights, so we have no regular dinner and after dinner routine. It's just the everyday mess that takes over in no time.
Love everything you say and do ❤ have been following you for a few years now and you have helped me in so many ways. Listening to this today got me up and motivated to do some decluttering and look at my zones so thank you so much xx💜🫂🫶
Best episode yet. Such good points with things not normally discussed. I liked especially about needing more space to organize as we always forget about the container spaces and the signs when one is unable to move forward if they can’t let go of the three examples.
Totally agree! our medicine that we put in our body like vit, cold/flu, tylenol/ibuprofen goes in our ref (we live in FL). A ref door shelf dedicated for these. the rest external meds like anti itch, bandaid, etc goes in the linen closet. the almost daily use like vicks and cortizone goes in our bed side table. only tooth brushing gears goes in our bathroom medicine cabinet, coz i am not using/taking any meds that came from the bathroom lol Also Cas i love that you didn't bother straightening up your background. it looks lived and you are using them. unlike other videos of influencers where it's too perfect shelves like a magazine unlived where you know it's full of clutter behind the camera on the other side of the room lol.
Thank you for this suggestion. I have limited space in my bathroom vanity that I have a covered bin for medicine, ect. I will now be moving it to a shelf in the bedroom closet to free up this valuable space. Have an amazing day!
I miss your personal connection at the end. You look great! How is being a fire fighter? How is your home doing with all the rain? (It’s raining like crazy here)
Well I think your information was spot on. I however live in a 31 foot rv and I just have too many clothes plus a 85 pound boxer who chewed the sofa which I replaced with a huge kennel. But you made such great sense. .a zone is the place and you then .mak😢e your stuff fit
Sometimes I am just trying to make one space hold to many “zones “. I either need to limit the space in each zone or give up some of the zones. What an easy solution once I saw this video. Thanks for the new outlook.
I still have stuff packed up due to divorce and reno but I re-organised my stationery buffet and love the feeling it gives me. Not putting much back in my kitchen today after painting it to see how much I don’t need in there as I’m selling my home. As a bee I love my command centre on the fridge and have been a bit lost without it there but want to make a new home for it.
I will have to take notes to do something after. My youtube etc is all on my desktop computer ... I only use my phone for calls and texts so can't wander around while listening to what you are saying. Western Canadian here. Yay Canada
Get a bluetooth (or other wireless) headset! I love the way it puts Cas in my head while doing cleaning or decluttering. It makes it possible to hear it while the water is running or the vacuum cleaner hums.
How did I miss this yesterday??? Its nice to hear you .I just woke n I have to wash hair. But I'm still doing 5 things to put away or declutter in different areas 12 day Oct my squares now. Hi from England x broken butterfly. Zoning sounds interesting....I have autumn planting stuff everywhere....but its temporary my general chaos is ....general lol!!?
Your “ hoarder test “ was interesting, I have a friend who desperately needs to declutter, while I was doing a little job for her, we discussed decluttering, I noticed a few metal poles, I suggested I would get rid, for her, she refused, I spotted some egg boxes and suggested they could go…..no….. she has elaborate reasons why they are important. I vowed then not to bring it up again, your test confirms to me that her hoarding is too much for me to deal with
I wish you could come to Norway and fix our home. It’s so small and we have bought storage, we just bought a shelf and bins etc but we just haven’t organized it all. Now there’s boxes everywhere. We need help 😂i have a birthday party tomorrow and we still can’t see the floor. We usually get things done if we get guests over but I wish it looked nice without that pressure too.
My problem is that things that have been given to me have meaning about the person and/or reason someone gave it to me. Some things I buy for myself are also fraught with meaning depending on the circumstances I've bought them. I have also decluttered some objects that I have later regretted getting rid of. Therefore, I often feel paralyzed.
Hi Cas! I really hope you see this because I need a reality check. I have a 3 bed, 2 bath home with my husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats. How much time should I be spending each day/week cleaning?
Cas, do you have an Amazon list or a Pinterest board with ideas of things that are easy to change and store but are not clutter? I am really struggling to visualize what else other than pillow covers I can re-use with the change of seasons. Knick knacks are usually pretty unique to a season so are center pieces. I guess I can have a big bowl that I fill with something but it gets dusty and takes so much space. Help! Maybe I am not a Butterfly after all if I just can't visualize the pretty stuff.
Wow that is a cool idea for a Pinterest board! First thoughts... Natural decoration: flowers, fruit, nuts and leaves from nature, garden or grocery store. ( Not the plastic stuff) Just collect or buy, put on show on a wooden tray and eat the edibles. Think pumpkins, zucchini, walnuts, hazelnuts, dry Hydrangea, berries, chestnuts for fall. Pinecones, moss, oranges, apples, pears, sticks and greenery for december. If you keep the color a bit muted they are usually fitted for several months ( unless they are ripe to eat of course). Choose your candles smart: white, beige, sage green, peach and burgundy go with almost every season. Have a frame that fits a seasonal picture and change it at least 4 times a year ( I have Mucha's four seasons for that. I have al four posters in the frame but switch the one visible). Use paint to change the color of a vase or a tray. Or have a chalkboard ( or whiteboard/window) that you decorate with a suitable text or drawing for the season. For birthdays or short holidays decorate with balloons and things like food coloring in transparent vases. I will sometimes use plates or towels in the theme colors but not with a special themed pattern or text. That make them much more versatile and still festive.
Thank you for reminding me that organization is having a home where you naturally dump stuff. Buuuut , my issue is the items that need to go out... For instance, I have a weed whacker charger that goes to the shed when it is done charging. The battery needs to go to the weed whacker. I have items I need to take to work that I bought for my clients, etc. I have a sponge i used for washing the car, I need to put it in the car trunk once it is dry. They don't have a home inside my home, but need to go out. Where do I put those items? And, Oh yeah, I'm one of those outta sight, outta mind people. I'm a hot mess!😅
That is the stuff that occasionally clutters my entry way. But it used to clutter my whole house so I am working on developing the habit of taking stuff out each time I leave. The teflon plumbing tape is still waiting to go out, but the reusable shopping bags make it out every day or two.
Hi Cas, I did the 30 day challenge and still do 5 min 5 items daily. Also I have being letting my friends and family about how easy it is 5 mins 5 items daily!!!!
My daughter lost her husband in January and his caregiver moved out in April. They were hoarders and filthy. My Daughter & I did the 30 day challenge, Once I got her moving she has a so, so much cleaner home. AND She now does it without me there encouraging her. I am so proud of her.
Wow, that's huge. Grieving has so many components. May she be comforted.
❤
That was motivating and perfect timing. Thanks Cassie
Agreed!! Thank you, love your approach
Yes!❤
Me too!
Yes! I need a face 😊
Yaassssss!! I want to see the person actually talking!😂😂😂😂
Thank you, Cass. I was raised by a hoarder, and have always tended toward clutter. In recent years I'm moving toward minimalism (thanks to Dawn!) -- but the rest of my household isn’t (husband + adult daughter w/health issues.) I've started to "zone" (and use Dana's "Where would I look for this FIRST?")
Helping friends move recently has also helped my perspective, to let things GO!
That is a nice idea to sort things in your head. If your head knows and agrees, the rest will follow.
@@HappyHarryX5 Thank you!
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
My kids would take the ice cream out if the freezer every time 😂 and I would notice. 🤣
Fun!
Love this!😊
What a fun way to declutter and stay connected w your daughter!! Love it!
Thank you for giving to hurricane victims!!
Yeah, she got me washing the dishes too! 😊
Washing the pillow covers and throw blankets. Changing the sheets and cleaning the curtains can help also. All feels fresher.
I hope she see's this.. I think she would feel honored to be classed in with Tony Robbins :)
You've no idea what a powerful and calm podcast like this does to my chores. They feel so light, easy and quick ! Thank you !😊
My parents were having a terrible time organizing one room.
Piano and music
TV at midnight
Exercise room
Relaxation chair to look at the back yard
A quiet reading area and a small library.
Great job 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
When I was young, I did exactly that! I moved the furniture and decorated four times a year! I loved my home, even though it was old and didn't have the latest appliances.💞 But as our babies came, I had to get a full time job, and I got older (I've been called elderly) with less energy, I've lost that zeal. I still have a tiny Christmas tree and a nativity scene that I put up every year before Christmas! 🌲
I love this. I gave my twenties to my job ("career") then had kids. Now early forties with a large and still young family, I barely have any clue what I'm doing. Your little story is inspiring!
I love that you mentioned that it's like working out at the same time :) thanks Cass!
After listening to half of this, I put it on pause and did almost 6 hours of cleaning my cupboards, changing things around and decluttering. Thanks Cas! :)
Thank you Cas! I appreciate the free information you provide to help myself and others declutter! You have helped me so much!! Keep being yourself ❤
Thank U Cas for slow, clear & eloquent speaking. Wonderfully informative Video! ❤
Your calm voice is so helpful! It really helps me get started:) ❤
I've shared your 30 day declutter with a lot of people at church. It is so awesome!!!
You ALWAYS make me Happy Cass!!! 😊 I wish that I could just give you a hug! 💛
Hopefully that is not our downfall in 20 years 😁
It’s also helpful to think about who will have to deal with your stuff after you’re gone. (I don’t mean to sound harsh) ❤
Thank you light worker, earth angel! Your purpose is so beautiful and important!
Zoning helps so much in keeping clutter under control.
Thank you for your post! This just another thing that my parents didn't know, so never taught me.
Thank you for supporting us Cas. Your work helps a lot.
I love your content. It's so inspirational. I am a bee on steriods and I have learnt so much about decluttering from you.
Go Bee!!!
Great content Cas!
The home "never being disorganized again", as wonderful as that idea is, just doesn't seem realistic. Please dive deeper into how this can work, I would love it!
Thank you for all your care and teaching!! You are awesome !!❤
Thank you Cas, wish you were in Cape Town. Come out of a shoulder injury my home is driving me nuts. Its so frustrating and i think because those who have been in the spaces have dumped and not put the items in the designated zones. We're all different kind of organisational buds this is helping me re-think my home
Omgosh, Cas! This is a game changer for me!!! I just love you & your ideas & podcasts! Thank you so much!!!!!❤
My medicine cabinet resembles that description. I am learning a lot about zoning this year. It makes so much difference.
Such great information!! I needed to hear this! Thank you Cass 😊❤
It’s 6:30 pm Sunday -I’ve spent this weekend ‘resetting’ my living room- I had 2 side tables around my recliner - too stuffed to get anything done ( I used to sit and work on some watercolor- but nothing got done anymore- it was too much) listening to you for a few years I knew what I had in mind - it took me longer than I anticipated- but I ended up sorting and ‘sifting’ aka decluttering a few more items - now I sit in my recliner a 3shelf unit next to my larger painting table for my brushes etc and only 1 side table to my left - not sure if it will stay
So right now I just put my feet up watching you and saying-yep just did that lol - thanks Cas❤
One of mi biggest marriage problem was loosing the house keys.... I began to look for homes to the items and i dont have it down 100% but those keys have a home in my home and in my car and argument solve... Thank you Cass for reminding me of this i need to keep zoning important items ❤
Also look into a number pad lock! They're awesome and no more lost keys. Just a car key to worry about and they just live in my purse now
Good job recognizing that and solving it. 👏😁
@d3rpwolf785
I am almost keyless now.
Such valuable info especially being willing to let go of perfectly good stuff!
Hats off to you ,that's great work you are doing helping the ones in need of organising .
(It’s raining like crazy here)
CAS you are so funny you just said this isn't clutter it's just a lot of little things. That would definitely be clutter in my house 😂
. . . you are amazing! ! ! . . . . thanks. so much... perfect timing... 🥰🥰🥰
I love the idea of hugging my home
Well I think your information was spot on. I however live in a 31 foot rv and I just have too many clothes plus a 85 pound boxer who chewed the sofa which I replaced with a huge kennel. But you made such great sense. .a zone is the place and you then .mak😢e your stuff fit
Please move to my neighborhood I live in Jacksonville Florida!!!!
I'll bake you a cake!!!😅
Sometimes I am just trying to make one space hold to many “zones “. I either need to limit the space in each zone or give up some of the zones. What an easy solution once I saw this video. Thanks for the new outlook.
Another great chat, Cas! I just changed to some fall throw pillow covers-a brand new living room:)
Thank you so much. You give such helpful info
Really loved everything you said. Immediately looked up your podcast and will be listening at work ☺️
Lazy people love efficiency and low friction. I am lazy people.
Thank you. Your videos are inspiring en motivating me a lot. Greetings from the Netherlands
Great ideas and explanations!
Thank you. ❤
I put up some posters I'd found!
Mostly still in the decluttering phase and trying to figure out my zones.
@@letitiarademakers6304 my phone is capable ... I just don't do it.
This is 100% my problem. Ive decluttered alot and even though i have more stuff i do it often anyway
Thank you for the details! This made sense to me.
From Guelph 😊🇨🇦🍁
I vowed then not to bring it up again, your test confirms to me that her hoarding is too much for me to deal with
Happy Birthday!
Thank you Cas!
Thank you Cass. 🙏💞
Cooking while listening ❤
Wow! Great episode! I have a much better idea of zones & storage layers, etc. ❤️♾️❤️
Brilliant 👏👏👏
Cas I never got the ebook or calendar. I signed up twice and wanted to do it this month x
Thanks Cass
My problem is that things that have been given to me have meaning about the person and/or reason someone gave it to me. Some things I buy for myself are also fraught with meaning depending on the circumstances I've bought them. I have also decluttered some objects that I have later regretted getting rid of. Therefore, I often feel paralyzed.
Hi Cas! I really hope you see this because I need a reality check. I have a 3 bed, 2 bath home with my husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats. How much time should I be spending each day/week cleaning?
Thank you. Inspiring.
Cass, when I bring in my groceries can I set down all the bags first, then put them all away? Or do I have to do the groceries 1bag at a time?
