    Thank you for sharing this experience with us. I have been wanting to buy a boat similar to this for fun with the family out on the lake in the summer time. I'm sorry that you've had to go through this experience but it has really helped me with knowing what to watch out for when buying a boat. Thanks for the videos!! I've been binge watching for the last two hours.

    Thanks for the excellent videos, Frisco. I'm rehabbing a 1975 Boston Whaler Montauk, and I'm learning a lot.

    It's seven years after the fact, but I just found your videos a couple of days ago and have been binge watching a couple at a time. You're as good as Netflix. I am impressed with your skills and your willingness to tackle big projects that would scare off most people. I'd even venture to say that some people would just scrap the boat if they faced these issues. I'm just wondering if you ever heard back from the seller and did he return a good percentage of what you paid. If you had all this work done by a boat-builder, I think you'd be looking at a minimum of $10,000. I tempted to skip to the last video, but I don't want to miss the meat of the project. I hope it turned out to your satisfaction. I know when the time comes to sell it, the next guy is going to get a better than new Sea-Ray.

    Just a tip when using resin and glass. Put a cheap plastic tarp in the floor and wrap your shoes in cheap cheese cloth. Saves the floor and shoes.

    Great videos, very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make them. Was wondering if you had a video showing how to fiberglass an area where 3 flat plains come together to form a point? Both a protruding point such as where a vessel's free board meets the underside along the transom and a depressed point such as where the deck meets the side of the hull on the interior side of the transom. I hope that makes sense. Appreciate it.

    I have done that before and it did not get me the same results. Plus with the chop strand that I had in the mix it wanted to drag huge troughs in the mix when spreading it. It does not spread like PL does.

    Yay for Clear Cote! I've been watching your videos and was wondering what brand you used, but in this video you showed it. I have had great results with their poly and waxed gelcote as well.

    I would have used a notched trowel so that you could raise the adhesive and let the transon push the "peanut butter" into the notched area, similar to setting tiles.

  • @CrazyLegsFE
    @CrazyLegsFE 11 лет назад

    Jay! Quick question is the peanut butter just ressin 3/4 mix with chopped fibers? I watched all of your boat videos and I can't seem to find the exact formula you use for the butter.

    @worbs93 It is similar. Go to boats.com and hit the restoration section. They have tones of builds with OBs that could give you more direction.

    Great skill and attitude congrats. However, why are you not using marine grade plywood and for other woods why not oak or rot resistant cedar or yellow pine vs soft woods which are not as strong or not as rot resistant ??

  • @terrulian

    Great videos. It appears you are using exterior plywood. Given the trouble you're going to and considering the rot you're getting rid of, why not spring for Meranti or the equivalent?
