Excellent series of videos, can't thank you enough for the level of organized detail you have provided. I have bookmarked your playlist to use when I attempt to undertake this in the future. I can only hope I remain as cool, calm, and collected when I start tearing into mine!
Great job! I used to build and repair fibreglass boats 25 years ago and now that I have to re-do the transom on my own boat this is fantastic refresher for me. Your work is flawless as far as I can see. Well done. (Just as an aside, what you call a filet we call a radius. Peanut butter is called gipe (or bear sh*t, depending on your thickener). 1308 or whatever is woven roving or just roving. And chopped strand is 1oz or 1 1/2 oz mat).
@gwad1961 Yes, reduce your hardener. The hotter it is outside the less you use. Your resin should say what not to go under. Mine was 3/4 % and it still seemed to go off really fast some times.
Fillet is also used in welding terminology. You will use fillet welds to join metal shapes together at 90 degrees versus butt weld when you want to join to metal together lying next to one another. Great job on the boat so far.
I'm interested in the roller and tray from one mix to the next. Completely clean? New every time? I know you said you were reusing rollers to save cost, just wondering how you manage when the first application would be kicking off while mixing the second batch. Great vids, Thanks
You do great work, I watched you do your glastron from end to end. I bought a larson from a dealer and found out the floor was rotton when I got it home and started using it, took it back and made them re-do the whole thing top to bottom. Just out of curiosity, did you ever hear back from the guy that sold you the sea ray?
Also, it looks like your glass orientation is 0/45 which I've been told makes corners easier to roll than a 0/90 orientation. Looks like you picked the right material for this project!
try using an empty syringe. to suck the bubble out. only really needed for big bubbles. it will pull the glass to the surface or create a hole for the air to escape.
Thankyou for taking the time to make these spectacular video's. They have helped me tremendously, saved me alot of headaches. Can I ask how much money you spent on materials alone ?. Again thankyou very much

Great transom Vids man thanks!
where did you buy your chop strand?
@gwad1961 I got it from my local distributor, but there are tones of places online that sell it cheap.
So there is wood then fiberglass which is the hull I assume?
