This is a great concept, an RTS where you can play as your own units but you also play as the big boss and you can actually be assassinated or watch out the windows of your base as the enemy army approaches. It's brilliant.

You play as the commander and you can build tanks, get in them, get out of them, shoot at people with a gun, shoot pilots out of tanks with a high powered rifle, etc. It's dope
I'll also throw in a suggestion, although its not technically an rts but same idea of actually in person leading an army into battle that is at your command The entire mount and blade franchise is about this. There's a few different settings, napoleonic europe, medieval europe, scandanavian europ... well just europe but time periods more or less. It's pretty good, I have the most time sunk in warband but I hear that the viking one is nice.

I can really get behind this. If I had the money and the lifetime, I'd also build a gigantic walking robot. No idea what I would install on it and what I would even use it for, but I'd definately put gigantic boomboxes on it that play that choir music.
