The new BR brackets are in for sim and quite a few planes got a new lease of life, join me as I try out the F-14A first! :)

I miss when the A-5C fought the F-14 in sim. I would find lobbies of zombers, go in my F-14 and lob phoenixes at them and get free kills. They would then start yelling in Chinese about me 🤣. Love the new sim brackets!

gotta fucking love being a french player and getting punished for playing france and already having the Mirage 2000 meanwhile all these kids who grinded for the Mirage 2000C-S4 get to play in a completely different sim BR bracket
@@moery2435 S5 and S4 is still at same br, only change are latest Mirage 2000 and 4000.
Tbf to the Mig-23 pilots, it has no rearward visibility whatsoever, somewhat poor frontal visibility, and it has a massive piece of bracing that runs along the entire top length of the canopy and obscures your vision of the enemy while turning. If you don't turn at an angle in the Mig-23 or use the head tilt keybinds then its very easy to lose sight of the enemy in the rate fight. I suspect that's why they all just start running in one direction after a while.

2:17 tomcat nerd here, you can set the wing sweep axis correction to -50%, Multiplier to 2, unbind any controls in thaat axis, and make sure relative control is off. With this you can basically only ever need to tap 1 button, without needing to set it up on the runway.
I did notice the RWR limitations being well... an annoyance to deal with at times. But most times, I mitigated this by just being the Phoenix sniper in the back. If they want to kill me, they have to get picked up by my radar. Went 16 and 0 one match. Went 18 and 2 another. Aim-54's are SCARY missiles to deal with on Afghanistan in planes like Mig-21 or Mig-23 where you don't fully know what the threat is or how far away it is. Hell, I even got a few Mirage 2000's with them due to just straight up being caught off guard.
Ive just stopped carrying Phoenixes now after they changed them so much no matter what distance it is they never hit for me and i consider myself to understand weapon systems and their planes quite well. Any tips?
God I hope gaijin give the mig23 the rwr updates that the Americans got
@@DasGermanBias I intentionally go for the people in the back of the pack using TWS track during matches. I tend to shoot as early as possible as I haven't exactly noticed much difference in PK between a 40km launch and a 60km launch. If they're aware and maneuvering, they'll probably defeat it anyway. I usually get one in every two Aim-54's to connect, and at least I cause some chaos. Climb to 8000m+ for best effect

@@helpmedaddyjesus7099 Realistically, the only two things it or really the rest of the air tree could get would be signal strength (of primary threat), and primary/secondary threat markers. NATO RWR's were straight up just better during the cold war. That's an L the Russian air tree is gonna have to carry for a while
I can only speak for myself, but I tend to easily lose track of my opponents in dogfights, especially in top tier jets where everything is fast, stressful, and makes me want to rush in and out of there. Typically I end up like thise guys getting missiled, after turning about for 8-10 seconds, frantically looking left and right for my target.
And thats if I didn't accidentally engage a friendly lol
1. Weather a head on pd/tws will pick up a cold target depends of targets closure speed. So if you are just barely slower than you target, it won't see anything, but if you are much slower than you'll get a reliable contact
2. Pd search has better vertical scan zone, so I usually use it for situational awareness and then switch to tws to track my target of choice
I had to stop playing the F14a all together because the lack of PD detection on RWR. Almost everything has a PD mode in that BR range so it leads to a lot of dying from things you didn't even know where there.
They should boost rewards in sim. I mean, 34k RP and 200k SL for an hour of gameplay seems a bit poor. Plus, you've got 17 kills.
It's good to see a good pilot flying the f14a in sim, I'm still yet to meet a pilot who doesn't dump all of their speed after the merge.
I launched a Phoenix at a target 40km away.
A guy skillfully approached from behind and shot me down with an IR missile.
I respawned at the airfield and while taking off, a MiG-23ML was killed by that Phoenix.
I might or might not have been evaporating enemys planes with it the last yesterday
I believe the F-14 got its old RWR from the Vietnam era. So HI = High, and LOW is obviously low and so on. (Also the GR.7 is so fun in this BR bracket)

I played the F-14B @ and would take a lot more brain power to get kills. Then i hop back on the f-15 and went 9 and 2

Actually in the first clip no RWR can detect a 530F launch, as is has a pulse guidance, not a CW one ( which means that it's gonna go for the first chaff it sees)
The first clip had nothing to do with launch detection though.

Is this lousy 4 degrees vertical search in F14 correct? Its also bad on other US planes.
I heard from pilots that the F-14 was pretty good in rate fighting due to its engines. Also, why does your view keep popping up and down in the cockpit?
Could you explain how to move the character in the cockpit like seen in the minute 7:14?
I would argue the Phoenix is actually solid in sim. No one really knows how to dodge it
F-14A has not just high prf but also medium and beam(adjacent)
But its pd dead zone is huge, I guess that's what gaijin mean by giving it head on modes only
Mig 23’s do use pulse Doppler, that’s what their MTI mode is. You can pick them up if they’re using their other radar mode but not in MTI mode.
I thought MTI was different, as in it isn’t as good as PD
@@christopherchartier3017 it doesn’t have the same range as a PD radar but it’s still undetectable to aircraft with the RWR that the F4J/F4S/F14A use.
I got 14 kills with F-14A in a match last night, while the Mirage 2000 in enemy team got 17 but he never killed me, lol.
Dude ive been top of the team in the tomcat every game in sim and the other players are so braindead they just dont do anything even remotely beneficial
Have you tried 380 knots for rate fighting ?
what do u mean hard to flair missles it only takes me 1 flair to them them off of me when i fly f14

What setup do you use for controlling the camera ? I have issues with it in sim

But I'm very curious how you know who is an ally and who is an enemy in sim?
I believe the radar return isn't the same for allies and foes, you should only be able to lock enemies

Either getting close enough where you can see the plane and indentify it yourself or getting close enough where the game tells you, if it shows up as an ally its an ally. If it doesnt show up no matter what its an enemy.
You have to get within 0.9km from the plane to have this occur.
Usually players use the ‘follow me’ radio message to give their position on the map and you can as well… sort of a rudimentary iff.
At higher br’s your radars can detect if its a friendly or enemy but its not infallible.

@@redbaron8670As far as I’m aware even with iff you can still lock friendlies. It just shows the double lines while scanning prior to lock

Nimbal in the f 14 a in SIM in big maps nobody should ever sneak up on you . Especially in Afghanistan.i never dogfight in the f 14 because I often have way to much fuel and I always engage from about 30km so I get the first shot with a aim 54 then at 10-15 aim 7 . More than likely the aim 54 misses but the aim 7 gets them
Better pilots would just fly low to dodge the radar missiles or just turn away so top tier SIM I just fly low and pre flare ir missles since the radar missle miss then merge then get r 73 when u try to rate fight

At 11.7 you have the M2k with the magic 2 which has irccm also the su25T/39 have the r73 and the harrier GR7 and AV8B plus has 9ms
with the f14s radar sometimes picking people up flying away from you its due to the speed gate that the radar has to pick up targets, its something like if they are flying away from you they have to be going more than ~200-290m/s

I’m new to sim and keep accidentally tk’ing. Does anyone have any tips to use bvr missiles effectively? (Edit-thanks everyone)
Use team chat to tell your teammates to mark their locations before firing helps alot
Plus all aircraft with "bvr" missiles have iff check who you're locking
Yeah, friendly targets show up as a target with a line above it on the radar. Some radars take multiple scans of the target before the IFF can actually do its job.
^ this a lower the scope to a narrow scan when you’re firing

also f1c and f1c 200
Every Mirage 2000 gets the same air-to-air kit available to them (save for the 2000-5, but that's more a quantity bit rather than type)
