I can't imagine they are making any profit at all with these as youtube hardly pays. After the crowdfunding failed they seemed to have stopped for awhile. More likely they are using studio investment money to keep making content so they can hopefully launch a successful crowdfunding project and create what they want and recoup their losses.
Oats, Neil Blomkamp and his team actually have pure artistic passion and creativity. They enjoy making a cool movie, not the BS crap that Hollywood churns out. Reboots, unwarranted sequels and milking cash cows. Hollywood is creatively bankrupt. Neil is fantastic visionary for sci fi and concepts. You can tell he's a gamer and inspired by them.
