The guy's white sweater looks really weird and it's immediately noticable. I don't think there's anything wrong with critique of these videos from their experimental lab... In fact it probably helps Oats figure out where and what they need to further work on, which will then translate to even better production in their full-budget movie releases.

Interesting that it's a 5th clip with "mind control" thing. Rakka - mind control used by lizards, Fire Base - controled soldiers, Zygote - controled bodys used as one, God - controled primal people. Especially when keeping in mind that Death Stranding show us some kind of controling cords. Great works Keep 'em comming

Today's standards of quality, and i don't care what it takes i'm not working in the industry,
i'm a consumer of this stuff and i have the right to compare and criticize, it was my opinion
based on facts and experience, just trowing out millions of animations is useless if you are
not making the best for what can be achieved with today's technology otherwise why do it,
i don't have the time and the skill so i won't start doing crap and put it on the net just because
i can make a crap animation for free, the short movie Rakka was excellent and Zygote was
pretty good as well, that is what i want not this or the others they made.

Waked That is where you're wrong. Know your history. During WW2 Germany used its captives which ranged from soldiers to jewish kids or even mentally deficient people to experiment their weapons. Nervous gas, pressure chambres, poisons like neurotoxins, manufactured diseases, they knew no limits. Until the 80s your government experimented not only on prisoners but also on people, without them knowing, different type of drugs. Look for it on the internet, you'll find these stories easily. Information access has been made really easy thanks to this medium so why don't you try to make a good use of it. Knowledge is power.

Hmm..

Hey people, it's an experimental film studio, they can do what they want. CGI might be questionable, but that voice acting was pretty good, as well as the spectacle of the scene. As long as Neill Blomkamp and the good folks at Oats keep pumping these out, most of you will keep watching them. Why? Because there's obviously a lot of talent and love behind these pieces. That dialogue was well done too. Can't wait to see more. Though I will say the CGI did throw me for a loop, as Rakas, Firebase, and Zygote have been live action shorts. Just keep giving us more, Neill.

This short very bluntly illustrates a point that a lot of people don't think about that often.
A long time ago people used to see dying in battle as a noble sacrifice made to a king or a god that any person should be honored to have happen.
Then writing and film developed and people saw the real horrors of war. We didn't like it, but many people still saw the nobility and necessity of combating huge global threats.
Nowadays, we see more of war than ever, but we've even lost that sense of righteousness because we're constantly using top of the line military hardware to blow up people living in mud huts on another continent.
This short kinda brilliantly demonstrates the almost pathetic nature of modern warfare.

How comes the soldiers are not covered in blood right after the explosion but the protective glass is?

    • @jfbeam
      @jfbeam 6 лет назад +24

Because the structure blocked everything but the door. (plus, CGI on the glass is easy, the soldiers not so much.)

If you look at "mike" (the controlled guy)'s vision on the screen, you see that nobody is holding the camera (which is clearly moving as if somebody is holding it). Knowing this studio this is not an error, and there is some meaning behind it. I just don't know what yet...
