NIGHT MARKET FOOD in Manila Philippines: BBQ & BLOOD STEW

  • My last night in Manila Philippines and I really wanted to try out one of the local popular night market for some night time eats. One of my local friends suggested Central Mercado a wonderfully vibrant night market in the heart of Manila.
The night market first of all, smelled incredible. From the roasted meat skewers to the refreshing local drinks, there was something for everyone at this night market.
Having filled up on great eats at this night market, I proceeded to a local restaurant that many locals recommended for a taste of Dinuguan which is essentially pork blood stew with organ meat inside.

Can I just say, that of the many foreign food vloggers who went to the Philippines, it’s your vlogs I’m most satisfied with. It’s coz almost all of the food you tried are close to the actual traditional dish every filipino know and love. There are quite a few food vloggers in the past who seeked help from famous Filipino chefs or celebrities only to be brought to fancy places who claimed to serve traditional food but they do not… I’m really glad you take your viewers suggestions on where to go and which to try ☺️

As a Haitian, when they brought out that blood dish, it looked so much like sauce pwa noir (black bean sauce) which is typically eaten with white rice. If you ever get the chance, you should visit Haiti and try the cuisine. It's sooo good. I know you'll love it.

If you like our vinegar mix we just basically use coconut vinegar or any white vinegar then we just basically add lots of garlic, chopped birds eye chilli, onions, a lot of ground pepper, some salt, sugar(optional), I like adding a lot of small slices of cucumber then just let it marinade in your container. If either the vinegar or any of the other ingredients are running low just top it up in the same container it will keep getting better through time.

But hearing you compliment our food with such love and passion, I can't help but smile and feel proud. And that Isaw(intestines), that brings back alot of memories, because everywhere you go, it's always amazing! Thank you so much Mikey for another incredible and very entertaining (and saliva-inducing) video! Keep it up and enjoy the rest of your trip! Can't wait to go back home!

Just to correct you Mike, the one you referred to fried chicken intestines.. It's not actually chicken.. It's deep fried pork mesentery or what we call chicharon bulaklak.. It's best dipped in spicy vinegar sauce, which you love!!! And not the sweet spicy sauce they gave you.. I hope you could try it again with spicy vinegar! I know you'll love them just as much as I love them!
