The toppings in the rice cake aren't bits of pork. It's actually a caramelized/toasted coconut called latik.
Nung bata ako kala ko rin giniling un 🤣🤣🤣
Kala ko dati toasted garlic lol
Haha i was thinking d same its coconut
bico with latik - sticky rice cake
kala ko garlic
A Chinese-American guy, enjoying food in a Filipino Chinatown. It can't get any global than this.
And the cameraman is black
@@ShovenPuff lmao 😂
@@ShovenPuff u mean the camera?
It's because he's active! His body build is obvious.
and in the Metro with Asia's oldest university... EPIC WIN
"Quik Snack"
Buys everything on the menu.
Man i love your work!
"quick" *_only_* for Joey Chestnut
I swear when this community quarantine period ends, I'll visit Binondo.
I'm hungry.
Me to eh
As a Filipino bro don't be too friendly they hate people that talks alot and noisy other than that you good
Hahaha same plan from here...
Ah. I miss binondo and divisoria 🤣
The Normal Asian Teen you referring to the Binondo peeps?
Mikey, the crispy little bits on the rice cakes is called latik. It’s actually coconut milk that has all the water cooked out of it. It takes forever and lots of stirring to make sure it does not burn. My wife is from the Philippines and makes it.
It is a by product of making coconut oil by boiling of the water from coconut milk
yeah my mother makes ube.......another confection that takes forever to make.....the authentic one, man your arm already sore stirring that dish.....
MrEmrys24 i
I love how everytime the camera cuts, that one employee is at a different table still staring at him 🤪.
He have a crush on him
Sixtus hahahaha i see him tooo well thats how Filipinos are thats we are hahahahah 😂😂😂😂
Filipinos are always like that, when they see a camera and famous people.
That guy was probably the owner, making sure the food was up to standards.
He was the owner. He just wanna see his reaction bc he's probably aware that he's gonna post it on the internet which can affect his restaurant's reputation
That blue T-shirt guy behind you, watching you with so much dedication😂
🤣🤣🤣
That’s just most FIlipinos is they like watching people when it’s unusual to them
hahaha
I know lmao XD
XDddd
Been living in the US now for like 6 years i already had lots of friends they all are excited everytime there's a party in my house because that means filipino food specially Pancit and Lumpia 😂
that's the most commonly loved filipino dishes I've heard from non-filipino people
Yep makes sense, most loved dishes
But those foods descended from Chinese Cuisine
@@heneralantonioluna8725 yeah, Filipino cuisine is a fusion of 4 or 5ish? Different styles of cooking
@@iwatchstuffs7933 you mean Malaysian, Chinese, Spanish, Singaporean, and Japanese Cuisines?

I watched this when I woke up and now oatmeal isn't gonna do it for me. Making fried rice. LOL
Fried rice beats oatmeal for breakfast any day--and I'm about 40% Scot.
I use to watch this channel on an empty stomach, bad idea because it just made me hungry, so i started watching it while i was eating. Still a bad idea because it just made me jealous of the better food Mike was eating.
So true.
Good choice
707 SaV , Hey 707 what city?
"Why do they call it soup #5?"
Well because if they called it "Cow Dick Soup" it likely wouldn't do as well, I'd wager lmao.
@vF GodItachi take a good look at the number 5, it has like a shaft at the top and ball at the bottom
@vF GodItachi that would be a limp shaft tho
HAHA! 🤣
Soup # 1 = Pork
Soup # 2 = Beef
Soup # 3 = Chicken
Soup # 4 = Seafood
Soup # 5 = Bats & Balls
The fried "Porkchop" should be paired with rice.. LOL ... a viand actually.. but you ate it like a street food.. and got me crazy! LOL so hard! love your Vlog still! :)
Xheska L they actually eat it on its own like a hash brown in Hong Kong. But I agree the Filipino porkchop should be eaten with rice since it’s too salty to be eaten on its own.
Lol! Was thinking the same thing i was like "taena ulam un ah ginawang street food?!"
Pag trip ko kumain then makakakita ako nun, dependehan sa mood if I'll eat it plain or with rice
actually yeah... that size of pork chop is for 2 people in most neighborhoods actually,,, yes I use "actually" a lot because I am actually a pinoy.
@Evil Koala Sad reality hahaha
Idk why but I found it funny and endearing when the owner was sitting behind him
dude is a hardcore lingerer for sure he pissed me off
Collin King it's the owner, it's his restaurant and he can linger if he wants to. he was probably just curious about what he was saying about the food and the camera.
Timothy i keep wondering why he keeps on looking haha
He seemed really sweet too, just curious but not patronizing
I got a 5 minute ad about dieting before this video . nice.
音楽xGankk 😂😂😂
I was giggling at the cat,
"oh your awake?"
"what do you want human?"
"ill leave you, that was a look of hate"
"yeah.. Go stuff yourself human... Waking up a cat, after a night on the tiles tut! "..
17:07 that guy in the background is staring at him just eat. That would be me if I was there.
Can you do a video explaining the difference between all of the Chinese food styles: Cantonese, Hunan, Szechuan...and any others? I would love to get your view on it.
I think he did a couple years ago?
David Bryant his view? It's food from different provinces.
Try to watch cooking master boy (yes....the anime) and you will get a glimpse of china's regional food difference..
All i know is that cantonese has a mild flavor. Hunan and szechuan have spicy flavors. But szechuan has is more flavorful for me compared to hunan.
Jamal Wayans ive thought of that too hehe
Watching this at night is a REALLY BAD IDEA.
Mark Cezar Mariñas ughhh sammmeee!!! 😭
You need to prepare your night
Muncie so you no getting tortured
Mark Cezar Mariñas yup,agreed
I dont know how much weight I gained since these food videos.. I have one additional meal per day, a generous, video themed midnight snack.. :D
Yes it actually made me go to a 24-7 Kroger and cook Chinese food at 2 am
When I visit the Philippines I want to hang out and show me good places to eat. I was there this year for 21 days and didn’t see or taste nothing like you’ve shown. I’ll know better next time. Thank you. Happy eating. I love ❤️ to eat that’s why and only reason why I worked out 💪
Cynthia Evangelista where did you stay? The food shown are mostly Chinese food. You have to go to certain places to get the authetic ones, like in Binondo.
visit Dampa in Roxas Blvd. heaven

Znatix lol what a buzz kill. Get a life.
I wish I could come visit over seas again, and try out all of the non tourist foods and explore around. Maybe even backpacking around would be cool!
@@hankanderson8633 Just waiting for a Connor account to reply to you
Now this man is the real deal. A food vlogger who actually finishes the entire thing. Unlike others who only takes a bite, talk a little then turns off the cam.
#1 is beef
#2 is pork
#3 is fish
#4 is vegie soup
#5 is a special thats why its on #5
How about chicken?
Soup number 5 means 5 kinds of chinese herb and spices
My waistline cannot afford any more midnight snacks while watching Strictly Dumpling.. munching an apple instead while watching the video
Maruati Pachuau , me too!!
Maruati Pachuau Chibai fellow Indian...
why worry so much? Eat drink and be merry!..life is too short!
Is nobody else’s eyes focused on that guy in the back with the blue shirt constantly staring..moving closer then further away
He probably only switched places once, but because of the way the video was edited he looked like a creepy maniac.
Surprised no one said "Nah, but I'm focused on you now :3" lool ugh I'd of been on the floor laughing :/
he just want to be a big star in the tv show...hehehe
I think he's the manager or owner of that restaurant.
It's the food, no one can resist it.
Every time I miss Filipino/Chinese food this is the vlog I watch. Brings back great memories. I’ve probably watched this a hundred times!🤣
Hello...I'm from this area Binondo...so near from my home just five minutes walk to chinatown or the church. There are really a lot of delicious street foods and chinese restos around you will definitely enjoy. 🙂💖👍
You already got an audience from the blue shirt guy on the back!
MS lol 😂 I thought I was the only one who noticed that
MS 😂😂👍
That dude was prolly salivating watching Mikey eat🤤😂
haha I love how time moves forward and the guy keeps moving around the screen, always looking
bloody_roar222 Out of one million subscribers you thought you were the only one to see that guy that is obviously in the video?
dude im filipino and watching you eat all that pork, im yelling at my screen "Go eat it with rice!!!!!" cus it would taste waaaay better but im touched by your enthusiasm and open mindedness about Filipino food and culture. love this video!!!
Pag food review ...wlang rice ...all asians eat rice but its a vlog he must avoid rice to be able to eat
17:07 owner sees camera and wonder what the heck is he doing filming my food i need to see oh wait im on camera i guess its ok he says my fried chicken is good he can stay😂😁🤣👍
Hahaha!!! 😂
I went to Binondo earlier and I used your video as reference. I went to the places where you ate those food and I really love the soup no.5 and oyster cake. More videos here in the PH. 😁
Try mango in the philippines, it's very good.
fυяуzツ its bad for the health. too sweet lol😂.
Then I thought Korean food was good and then Japanese food then authentic Chinese food now I'm totally looking into Filipino food God I hope I can find some places in New York that's at least half as good as some of the dishes in this video, when I go back to NYC that is😔if i can.
Well anyway Great video👍 mike😊😀💖
Jeryl Salas Jeepney is not really "Authentic", it's more Americanized to appeal to western customers.
She needs to find a Filipino friend and get invited to their parties to get the real good stuff.
JEEPNEY is a good start.
B. Sanita. You will find bunch of Filipino restaurants in Woodhaven Queens. I’m from NJ
It’s just not the same. Tried a lot in Canada and US. They change it a bit. Well more than a bit actually. But I guess “half as good” wouldn’t be hard to find. Enjoy 😊
Lots of Filipino places here in Roosevelt.
Love watching your show! Much love from Texas!
Thanks for sharing! Im going on a holiday soon and I live near there, Good thing I saw this video on my feed!
I like eating while watching your videos because it's like I'm eating with you :P
j0epark1 that's how lonely I am😂💯❤

Because of Mikey I also put hot sauce on my food while watching his videos :-)

Congrats on 1 million! Mike your just STRICTLY amazing!
I wish we could get buns like that over here in England.
R3D M1ST you could go to Chinatown in London. They have good ones, too. Cambridge also have some good Chinese restaurants.
Siopao for life.
❤I love how you started this video, it was so romantic and mesmerising. 💕 Love the video shots and music. Perfect!
It's really amazing how he describe foods. He can describe a simple simple food like it's been prepared in a Michelin Star restaurant.
Is it normal to get food jealousy? Lol I love to see (and hopefully one day be able to try) new foods!
MzzzExtra yeahhh

MzzzExtra I get food envey too!😊
You should be in a hospital
MzzzExtra nope I have those feels as well. I'm also jealous of his shirt.
Gotta say good things about the food when the owner is right behind your shoulder! 😂 Jk
Bruuhh
It does look good tho!!
It taste really good
The OLDEST CHINATOWN
older than USA history😂
I frequent that place as well and it really really tastes good. Mikey didn’t know the owner was behind him and I personally found it cute how the owner was so curious as to what Mikey is saying. Customer feedback is definitely valueable ;)
I have bad anxiety. Im in bed crying a lot of the time. Watching your videos gives me simple calmness. Thank you, please never stop doing what you do. Your lighthearted spirit lifts up my sadness. Much love ❤
Stephanie Lynn as a person with an anxiety disorder, let me tell you this. You are strong and capable. 💪and you will always get through any negative experience .
I grew here and Masuki is one of my favorite places. Put the whole sauce in. It tastes better
It's official this food vlogger is my favorite.
the topping on the sticky rice is not pork. its a reduced coconutmilk
They reduce the coconut milk while continuously stirring until the milk turns into curds and oil. What you saw on top of the rice cake was the curd
I like it when he talked and described his food, so much so when he devoured them with full appetite👍
I love watching your channel! It makes me feel like I’m traveling with you and trying all these international cuisines. Thank you!
Hello Mike, I just came from Manila, after watching your video I bought myself a ticket last Tuesday and went on a mini 3 day fud trip. I just stayed in Ortigas because I love Podium is just across my hotel...I wanted to go to Ongpin too but did not make it, next time I'll go but I got delicious fluffy siopao at Circle K. Even their pandesal with corned beef were really good! At NAIA we went to Ka Tunyng's Cafe and their food were surprisingly awesome, I was even surprised with their Gulaman icy drink it was refreshing and they captured the original taste from the 70's. The modern GULAMAN/sago icy drinks taste is very different...I was craving for milk fish Tinapa and had it at Pancake house joined the MALAYAN plaza in Ortigas, it was really smoky and milky tasting [the fish meat].Back to NYC last night and back to work!
NingasKugon09 love tinapa!
WELCOME TO THE PHILIPPINES 😊 i really love your videos , so excited for your upcoming videos here in the Philippines
U make me hungry. I love all kinds of foods and trying different food's from Asia I love and if I can make it at home even better.

Why the hell do I like watching you eat noodles so much aha
Mike, you gotta try the "kwek-kwek" (deep fry duck or quail egg that's covered with orange batter) and fish balls. Two of the most popular Philippine street foods. Also, gotta try the Jollibee Chicken Joy!
All the food so mouth watering even just watching I can taste the goodness!
The best lumpiang shanghai i had was in ongpin, that was in 1980 .i can still remember how i loved eating them.till now i was not able to go back to that restaurant .

Food look good love the pie and fry noodle very nice fresh healthy foods you love your foods spices as well thank you for sharing.
I love how the locals sometimes tell him how he should eat it.
Your becoming a great food critic. Not many host spend time in the 🇵🇭.
sir you did the right way of eating your noodles together with your siopao... we also do that as well, and sometimes, instead of siopao, we replace it with dimsum like dumplings or siomai and they also go well with the noodle soup
MAY I KNOW WHERE IS THIS IN BINONDO...PLS. MENTION THE NAME OF THE STREET ' CAUSE IM NOT FAMILIAR IN THIS PLACE.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
watching this video again remembering how things were before Covid
Waaaah!!!!! Masuki!!!!! The pungent sauce is to die for!!! You should've put all the brown sauce in the noodles, You're the first foodie i've seen go there thanx for this!!
I so wish I could join you on your adventures, looks delicious 😍😍😍
You are one of the best food vloggers out here. You give your honest opinion and never try being fake with the locals.
My favorite Filipino - Chinese food is Lumpia/ Lumpiang shanghai, Siopao, Siomai, and Tikoy.
There's still a bunch you haven't tried out there!! Binondo has a lot of hidden tasty restaurants..
Cris Jeturian aw no lan zhou la mien, he would have loved that red knife mien soup. It might not be even spicy to him.
