Surviving A Roller Coaster That Tries to KILL You In 1 Minute | Euthanasia Coaster

- Fear has always been associated with roller coasters. Many have developed phobias to coasters because of how intimidating they appear. Despite how tall and fast they go. The odds of you dying on a roller coaster is highly unlikely. Your average amusement or theme park will always have the best safety protocols to keep you intact. However, 10 years ago a so-called engineer made a roller coaster model with the sole purpose of killing the riders. If this was a new roller coaster today, it would stretch taller than kinda ka at Six Flags Great Adventure. Travel faster than formula Rossa and have the highest g force of any attraction. Still, after some research into the ride. I found that if this was indeed built, you can in fact survive. So watch and find out, while also realizing the engineer is kind of a lunatic.

And it was at that moment he knew. He f*cked up

Fun fact: he's saying again again because he wants it to kill him
No, I think the button at the top of the hill is a great idea. Imagine building up in your head for years that you want to die, and this is how you want to go. But then when you're actually taking that long, long climb up the hill, the physical reality of what you're doing sinks in and you panic. You don't want to do this anymore. You want to live. Imagine now that there's no button, and you spend the rest of that long, long climb screaming to stop the ride. Begging for your life. That's fucking horrifying. Having a last minute chance to opt out after you've climbed the hill is honestly the only ethical way to make this coaster, imo.
I agree. I think that many people would end up changing their mind, and if there was a button, it wouldn’t be too late.

I saw this guy's TED talk and he isn't that weird or crazy. Julijonas Urbonas designs these rides and concepts to give the viewers a genuine experience about them. He does not design these things to have them built, but to provoke thoughts, emotions, and a new way of looking at things. It's very interesting tbh.

Urbonas is not an engineer, he is an artist, and his eunenasia coaster is not satirical, but a thought experiment. Just read how he describes it, its a proposed way to end life with 'grace and euphoria' instead of pain and suffering. I think its beautiful.
Inert gas asphyxiation would be much more enjoyable and practical. High G-force doesn't feel particularly good... inert gas asphyxiation literally begins with euphoria and ends with slipping into unconsciousness while euphoric.
“Katie M” you okay????
Yeah the whole time he was going on about how not credible this guy is I was just shaking my head like "uh yeah he's not really going for that, he's an *artist* "
Totally agreed! The thought experiment is only scary if you'd want to survive. For a terminally ill person, suffering every day towards an inevitable death, it would offer one last incredible adrenalin rush. Especially if they're able to opt out until the drop begins.

Me either. Especially if it’s almost a 2,000 foot drop

It’s not oxygen. It’s the blood rushing to your feet from 10g of force and staying there. That’s what kills you.
@@larrytemen4789 I've done a little research, and people have survived some truly ridiculous g-forces, much higher than ten- but usually they are only subjected to them for a few seconds. With proper training and a healthy heart, i'd argue there's a slim chance for an elite human. But the average human would most certainly die. Cause of death for these kinds of fatalities seems to involve arteries and veins being strained literally to the breaking point.
Usually the high g forces are subjected to them for around 1/10 of a second.

For me, any fear of roller coasters doesn’t have to do with the fear that they will break / I will die, rather that I feel like the drop is too big for me to mentally handle
Same. I love when the track banks sideways, and speed is thrilling to me, and I can even enjoy multiple small hills (sometimes called bunny hills). But forget about steep vertical drops. I don't think it's about the height, because I've always liked aerial trams and observation decks in skyscrapers. It's more the feeling of my stomach leaping into my throat, and a fear of passing out or having a heart attack or spinal fracture.
I've never been afraid and I love them, just went on the worlds tallest last weekend in fact (Kingda Ka), however I've always thought it would be an easy fear to conquer since once you're strapped in and it's moving you're committed... you don't think you can "mentally handle" it... but you will, guaranteed. Do that a few times and you should be over it.
@@Chris-xo2rq Nah. I've ridden many roller coasters and still hate them mostly. For me, it's about not being in control. The very thing you describe is what I hate and if you aren't enjoying it, why bother?

Lol sane
I always find the 'safer than driving' claims to be a little silly. The reason is that you spend a hell of a lot of time in a car and almost no time in a roller coaster. If you spent as much time in a rollercoaster than driving I am not so sure it is actually more safe.
This is actually a very interesting point of view. One could totally do some math based on some statistics in order to compare the risk of death between driving a car and riding a roller coaster. But that person would have to keep in mind several things though, so it's not an easy task:
1: It's more dangerous to drive a car in some countries than other countries.
2: It's more dangerous to ride a roller coaster in some countries than other countries.
3: It's more dangerous to ride some types of roller coasters than some other types of roller coasters.
4: If one is drunk or on drugs, the chance of that individual dying while driving a car increases a lot more than if that person rides a roller coaster.
And some other factors as well probably
The thing about cars is, it just need one drunk idiot and you're gone - for a coaster to be fatal it needs a lot more than one human error
Keep in mind that most roller coasters are operating every few minutes (or constantly with multiple trains) for hours a day, seven days a week, for decades. And whenever one actually has an accident, it makes the national news.
Car accidents happen multiple times a day in every large city on Earth. Even if you drive only once a month but ride coasters every day, you're probably STILL at far greater risk in the car than on the ride.
No, even accounting for miles travelled they are MUCH safer than driving. Driving is the most dangerous thing an average person does on a regular basis. (Note: I said "average person", if you have a particularly dangerous profession this may not apply to you).
Even so, hundreds, maybe thousands of people will ride a given coaster at a park, maybe 20 to 30 people at a time, so even if the ride is 20 minutes, that's 40 to 60 minutes of riding time in total, likely as much as, if not more than the average time spent in a car each day. How many times have you heard of a coaster accident vs car accidents? I think that statistically, coasters are far, far safer than driving.
You see, the fear of rollercoasters isn’t about dying, it’s the feeling and how sensitive you are to the feeling.
its the only reason i missed the chance to ride kingda ka the pressure of the drop is too overwhelming

Fascinating! I love hearing thoughts about stuff like this.
Here's my thoughts coming from an artist. (Note: I'm not familiar with this guy's other works)
The euthanasia coaster is definitely an interesting idea to think about, and I'd consider it a very successful art piece. Setting logic aside, the point of it is to make one think about death, and just by me typing this comment, I'd say it definitely does it's job.
There are so many ways to look at death, most perspectives being about "fear of the unknown". Death is something we don't understand and can't control, and because it's so far out of our control it terrifies us.
Now, roller coasters are the very essence of "being in control" every loop, ever turn, even the seat of the coaster was taken into consideration into making it safe. But the thrill it gives to it's rider is a brief moment of our body feeling out of control. As in sensory overload, gravity shift, being thrown around without a choice...it's almost a glimpse into what it might feel like to face death. But at the same time not really, because the coaster is totally in control and the trust we put into the coaster to keep us safe is what makes it into a pleasant experience. It's a bit like watching a scary movie on TV, it's a controlled illusion of feeling totally out of control.
So with all that being said, the significance of this piece is not so much as "this coaster will kill you", but to think about death differently.
It's a visual argument for letting people be in control of their end and making that choice feeling safe and confident.
Now, with all that being written, I totally chuckled at this video talking about the logic. It's like trying to take figurative speech literally. But it was very interesting! 👍

If you get annoyed when someone's with you and their too afraid of going on a roller coaster just go without them and let them wait for you. Remember that fear is irrational its sorta like a phobia and you cant judge someone based on what their scared of. If they don't want to ride let them not ride.

I'm in my late 40's and I don't plan on going on any amusement park rides anytime soon, so I think I'll be ok. Plus I'm fine with cars, buses, planes, etc. - it's just rides. So this fear is not exactly something I need to really work on at this point in my life. But thanks for your input.
@@ArtMusicLife15 No I know that most people are scared of rides, but how could anyone be scared of a small cart that goes 1mph? Driving a car is 60x more fast than that!
@@ProJello2 I understand your confusion. It's confusing to me as well, and I'm not sure I can explain it any differently. I have a "fear of fear" as crazy as that sounds. If you've never experienced a panic attack before you won't understand what I'm talking about, and that's ok. I hope you never have one.
okay but what is that thing at 6:23?
No one:
That French designer becoming thanos at 7:10 and shrek at 7:17
He is Lithuanian, not french.
I have very high blood pressure. I would probably die on the first drop!
Honestly I’d feel like I’m dying from the drop bc how fast it is I’ll be like BYE WORLD 💀 even if it won’t kill me like it’s just a regular run roller coaster 💀💀
I have it too now I'm not sure if I'll ride one
Not sure if I missed it but I scrolled down through the comment section to see if anyone wrote about the two poor souls that went over and off the rails in the beginning.
On a different note I remember doing something stupid as a teenager, me and a friend were punching each other back and forth for kicks while the roller coaster was making loops and turns. For some reason it felt more relaxing than just sitting there.
I think this is a brilliant concept. The narrator is a real Debby Downer.
If the 10g's weren't going to kill me, i would like to ride this. Great video!
Bro he said if u don’t die u will be under life support would you rather be dead or be in the hospital or be in great condition

yes yes this is the once in a life time ride that you will never forget :)
I could see a euthanasia flat ride being built as an alternative to the death penalty, but not a Euthanasia Coaster for the most sick. Something like this would never be approved for the proposed use. I do see prisons building Euthanasia Rides, though, since Legal Injection is literally torturing prisoners.
Yeah, imagine how tortuous lethal injection is for innocent animals whose only crime is being unwanted, unloved, dumped in a kill shelter. But by all means let's be more concerned about monsters that have killed, raped and tortured ppl. Let's not "torture" them with lethal injection. 🙄 also, let's not forget gas chambers that horribly kills innocent animals, but is considered too inhumane for the monsters that deserve it. People that cry about "poor prisoners" being tortured makes me want to puke. SO f*cked up. 🤬🤬
@@ShoSensei It doesn’t matter if you think criminals deserve it or not, the death penalty is still bad because it’s EXTREMELY expensive (significantly more than life in prison). The only way to make it less expensive would be to put less effort into making 100% sure the person is guilty, which would result in more innocent people getting executed, which I think we can all agree is bad. And we already have cases of innocent people getting executed, so clearly even the expenses we’re already dumping into it isn’t enough.
Love your username...I live in The Burgh!
@@UndrcoverCactus A bullet doesnt cost that much. Jus shoot em in the head. World so over populated.
@@ShoSensei are you in some kind of weird mental place right now where you delusionally believe human life isn't worth immeasurably more than the life of a nonsentient animal? Lmfao. Even murderers rapists and dictators are human. In fact it's completely impossible to commit a crime which makes you no longer a human. So I don't know why you would bring up the crimes of the prisoners as if that would make any difference. And although Animal life and treatment are both important and valuable. They are not human lives. which are priceless. and again thats due to sentience. Animals are instinct driven, and have no knowledge of themselves. One final time that doesn't mean they can be freely mistreated. But it does mean there is absolutely no comparison at all between an animal life and a human life. The smartest animals on earth are only comparable to a literally baby human. And in adulthood when most of these cases would be carried out the scale of what you are extinguishing by taking a human life is so immense its absurd to compare it to a dog or cat. Who may have done nothing wrong and should be saved wherever and whenever possible and given to a home full of dignity and love. But an animal does not have that rich inner life, all that personal development psychological profile and history and personality and experiences and ideas and identity and relationships and language and influence of others potentially worldwide for good or bad. killing a human means books that might not be written, peoples minds who may not be changed, kids who may not be born. Studies that may not be done. A family left behind which also did nothing wrong but now has to suffer in fu consciousness and awakeness and sentience the loss they gave experienced. Etc lol. and again just compare this to an instinct driven animal. It's not close lol.
I get motion sickness if I’m upside down or spin. If a ride features these, I stay on terra firma. Speed, curves, slant are just fine. I would not go on the euthanasia coaster. Maybe it could be used for people on death row. Give the bad guys a choice between the usual methods and the coaster.
Imagine wanting to die and you survive it and have to remember the ride. That'd be nuts.
The death coaster from nothing but trouble freaked me out as a kid, so this REALLY freaks me out! Loll
This video is a work of art. Well explained and great information.
Much appreciated!
Indeed
Not sure why I find this absolutely hilarious 🤣
Frozen dead Body Planet 😂😂 I like that guy💯 That shit took me out.
Had a great time just listening to the entire video
Gotta say, you're one hell of a narrator. Kept me entertained.
Hello! Thank you for including the metrical system, but you should had put that info in Km/h and not in m/s like as you did with the miles. That is like if you had put miles per second in the next thing.
In the cars we also use km/h not m/s.
I hope this helps for future videos :)
Thanks for the tip!
Great video. The only error I noticed was when the uploader described maximum terminal velocity as 250mph, when in fact it's about 120mph depending on the drag coefficient of the object dropping. I think he meant 250kmph.

Astronauts will survive this 9 out of 10 time EZ. They experience 7G force when taking off for space for minutes, and their training helps them stay conscious. They may blackout but they will definitely survive, so long as its 60 secs.
judging by his work i'd say i think this is more like an art piece than an actual roller coaster
Judging by his work this man is a monster.... How could you force people to watch interpretive dance?
I rode Intimidator 4 times in a row once, and while that might not be a lot and 5 g’s didn’t even hurt, for the brief seconds you would be conscious in 10 g’s would probably hurt more than getting a skewer slowly getting driven into you.
Nice Final Destination reference
