    Dang Apollo is good at making scooters. Makes me proud to be from Quebec :) I have a City Pro and it changed my life, sometimes I wouldn't start my car for weeks and it felt awesome. I freaking love it, and this Go looks like a simpler, lighter City Pro with plenty enough performance.

      Good eye, I didn't notice that while filming or editing, but I did notice the magnet last night when I was folding the scooter and sent feedback to Apollo. They're checking to see if someone used the wrong glue or not enough glue on this one unit, or if different glue needs to be used across the board in production. It's weird because they've been using magnets like this for ages on their scooters.

    I'm thinking that the second generation of the Apollo Go, will be my first scooter. Trying to be patient while Apollo works out any kinks from this first generation Go. I have a fear of buying an expensive doorstop on wheels, the way that some scooter owners have; with basically new scooters that they can't ride, because they can't fix their problems. Either because the problems are an enigma, or because they simply can't source the parts tha they need to fix the problem.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  11 месяцев назад +5

      In a way, this is already the second gen. Apollo quietly did a beta-progam for the Go, like they did with the Apollo Pro where they shipped out early units and gathered feedback. Then they used that feedback in the production version. -Paul

      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  11 месяцев назад +1

      Great timing Erik, We're minutes from filming, and now the details you asked for will be in the full Apollo Go review!
      So you don't have to wait a week:
      Cruise control is currently time-based. You enable or disable in the app, and then you can also set how many seconds you want to hold the throttle before it kicks in. I've been told an update is coming which will make cruise control even better, but I haven't seen it yet.
      Other advanced settings include changing the intensity of the regen brakes and throttle, and how many minutes of idle-time before the scooter turns itself off.

      @erik.christensen 11 месяцев назад

      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks Paul can't wait for the full review, ordered one of these cause I have a couple steep hills to get to work and my other scooters I had to kick assist or walk up the hill, also a heavier rider, looks like it can tackle most hills though from your video. Also wanted something light unlike my vsett 10+ I'm selling which is a beast but overkill now for a simple short commute and this scooter has the right mix of everything. Auto cruise control is best cause then you just have to think about braking after it's on rather than pressing a button or something for 10 seconds and counting down in head then having to look down at display to see if it's on or not so not as safe as auto, I got a NIU Kqi2 pro and it has an audible beep when it auto engaged cruise control which I like and think everyone should do this. Thanks again paul

    I'd love to see another version of this scooter with the option of interchangeable bigger wheels, and a smaller battery to keep the weight down. Quick-swap batteries would solve the issue of lower range caused by a smaller battery. Being able to detach batteries would also help with portability.
    I also think e-scooter designers should introduce a 'Kick Assist' mode option for all of the new e-scooters they make.
    What I mean by 'Kick Assist' is electrical assistance that allows the e-scooter wheels to continue rolling for longer than usual after the user manually pushes it with their feet. The duration of electrically assisted rolling would be based on the force and frequency of the manual pushes.
    I think Kick Assist would be a welcomed additional mode in places where e-scooters are currenty illegal because it would work in very similar way to a manual kick-scooter with very little rolling resistance.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  11 месяцев назад +2

      That's such an interesting idea. I've never heard anyone suggest anything like it. I can also see that being useful when you get down to the last 5% battery. Could it stretch the last 2 miles to = 4 miles? If so, that would be a super cool feature! I would absolutely love to play with a scooter that worked that way. It would be like the whole world is a 2% downhill grade. -Paul

    Finallly! This is the scooter I have been looking for for years as a replacement to my Boosted rev... I love my Rev, but I know it won't last forever and I have been looking for a dual motor scooter from a solid brand at no more than 21kg. And this is the one. Glad it's coming to Europe in the summer. Hope it comes to Switzerland by the end of the year, otherwise I'll have to import it from the UK... I wonder if you can test the acceleration from 0 to 15mph, I think it was 2.7 seconds for the Rev based on your tests, wondering if this is similar. This will anyway be an upgrade on almost every front, other maybe that it being too high (I love how the Rev is low to the ground, but I know not everyone feels the same). Hope my Rev can survive until I can have this baby...

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  11 месяцев назад +2

      It's close. I weighed it at 22.3kg
      I can't reveal the 0 to 15 yet, but the Rev is going to be noticeably quicker to 15mph. The Go has higher tested top speed and way more range than the Boosted though. We still have a Boosted here. It's a classic. -Paul

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy 11 месяцев назад

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Amazing that you still have a Boosted! It's a bit of a shame that it has less acceleration, but after all the boosted was 750w per motor I think... But it's an upgrade in almost every respect. Thanks for the weight and hope you'll be able to disclose the acceleration at some point (I can understand Apollo doesn't want to reveal it yet, since it's probably not the main strength, but this is such a great scooter anyway).

      Wow, that's a tough decision. The Mantis King GT is pretty amazing, and if you like having enough power to scare yourself, it's really fun (you can always turn the power down if it's too much). The Cruiser has the range advantage, of course and is generally a more mellow ride (though still quick). So, if you enjoy sporty riding, the Mantis would be the better choice of the two, but if you're looking for raw transportation per dollar, then the Cruiser. The Apollo Go is kind of right in between those two, but I would say easier to ride and certainly easier to carry than either of them. -Paul

Paul, you're a motorcyclist, there we have the most powerful break (front) on the same side with the throttle as you are NOT going to use both at once, so your hand is free to concentrate on one or the other. If you're on the regen, and suddenly someone pulls out in front of you, can you get to that mechanical lever instantly? Does it depend on the size of your hand?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  10 месяцев назад

      Regen is a thumb and mechanical is a lever so you can def press in case of emergency.

    • @eloipecquet
      @eloipecquet 10 месяцев назад +1

      Hey man! We wanted to keep the brakes on one side, it's also good to know that the mechanical brake does engage the regen brake as well, as the brake handle is equipped with Hall position sensors!

    My guess is that this is more of a competition for the Inmotion climber and not the G2, despite looking close to it, and with apollo's reputation I would only consider this if I lived in an area without any bumps, since the climber has no suspension however it's still cheaper and feels better.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  11 месяцев назад +3

      Tue, even at it's retail price of $599 the Journey Max has amazing raw hill climbing power per dollar. The real difference between the two is ride quality. I love the value of the Journey Max in terms of performance per dollar, but the Go is on a different planet when it comes to ride quality. It's not that the ride quality of the Journey Max is bad, it's that the Go's ride quality is nearly on par with the $4k Apollo Pro. -Paul

      @g00fysmiley 11 месяцев назад

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide fair point. I am more of a value consumer, I look at apollo as a premium brand but would have a hard time buying this vs say a price competitor like the emove cruiser or a comparable value scooter like the journey max. But I can see the draw if you wanted a more premium build and nice suspension instead of ordering by spec sheet.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  11 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah, I hear where you're coming from. One of the things you said is going to be a theme in the upcoming Apollo Go review: Some of the things Apollo does best just don't show up on a spec sheet. Even worse (for me), "good ride quality" is really hard to describe! I always try to show the things that each scooter does best and worst, and it's so much easier when I get to write a headline like "Fastest for $xxx" than when I want to say something like: "We think this scooter will last 10 years, based on x, y, and z but we can't conclusively prove it" or "there's something about this ride quality that's amazing, but I can't really measure it."! :-) -Paul

    Great review--thank you!
    My previous scooter experience was on rentals, the Lime in particular, but I bought the 2024 Go.
    Go is faster & quicker than the 2024 Lime, but the Lime is smoother, more comfortable, and more stable.
    The Go wheels are tiny for portability, but it’s a bumpy ride and not very comfortable. The wheels take literally five strokes from the Joe Blow bike pump.
    The Go won’t fit in my WRX sedan trunk, unless I leave the trunk open. It’s very tight.
    The Go fits in the back seat of my car but it takes the full length of the seat. I’m not sure if the City or Klima would fit on the back seat.
    The Go fits easily in our Impreza hatchback, and it could easily hold two
    The deck of the Go is a bit cramped and I find myself shifting my feet around frequently on a one hour ride.
    The Go climbs small hills well, and large hills slowly. I live in the mountains.
    Battery drains quickly for 195 pound rider at mostly full speed, but it lasts a long time at more comfortable speeds.
    Dot Matrix display needs trip odometer and clock. Definitely room for improvement on the display. I don’t like it.
    Quad phone mount is useful but I don’t like fiddling with my phone.
    Excellent production quality & shipping
    Unit arrived from Best Buy in two days, perfect shape
    Very good help desk response over text & email
    Good printed documentation for setup
    Decent smart phone app for settings, but could be simplified.
    Good assembly video on RUclips.
    Easy & exciting setup.
    I never want to be a scooter mechanic and Paul @Electric Scooter Review scored the Go 9.2 out of 10 for maintenance. This was a big factor in my purchase.
    I like the scooter but wish for longer range and a smoother ride, without sacrificing portability. I want it all!
    Now I’m thinking I’d go with electric bikes if I had the choice again.
