Chapter 18 leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. To explain why, I'll have to reference one of my favorite anime of all time: Fate/Zero.
I'll try to keep it vague so that people can get the point without me spoiling anything, but at one point Saber is having a honorable duel only for Kiritsugu to interrupt it in what she would consider ''a cowardly move''. Kiritsugu proceeds to lecture her about how chilvalry is a worthless sentiment that glorifies and perpetuates war, something he loaths above everything else and wants to end as swiftly as possible in order to spare more lives.
Back to FE, Zola is the true hero here. Sure he broke the anti-conflict law of Izumo, but he captured the Hoshidan royal familes; the leaders of the opposing country. The war could have ended just now, heck they wouldn't even have needed to die since they served as important hostages while Hoshidan soldiers grant Gooron free access to the throne. Then after everything is settled, they free the royals and everyone is happy. Oh, and maybe look for a way to accidentally throw Iago and Hans off a cliff or something.
But according to Xander, that's a big no-no: the honorable way to end the war is by dragging it out, regardless of how many lives are lost in the process.

I respect your opinion, but personally I love chapter 10 and absolutely despise 20. Chapter 10 required extreme strategizing and gave off some pretty memorable 2-E RD vibes. Not to say it wasn't hard, bc it was. 20 on the other hand, had a bullshitty gimmick with bullshitty reinforcements and was over just annoying with its stupid wind that u always seemed to screw u over right when u think you've figured it out. But that's just my opinion.

Chapter 12 was the moment I said "Fuck it!" to using Nyx. At that point, I had already had to reset the game a few times to save her. At the very end of that chapter, some staff users used a staff that plucked her away from the rest of my army to a separate room where she was instantly dog piled to death.

Just give her a Nosferatu tome. She can easily become a frontline Mage with Nosferatu. Even more so if you give her a Seraph Robe or Dracoshield

Fynmorph I play on Hard. And while she did need to be coddled a bit, for me she did eventually get good enough HP and Defense to tank at least one physical hit, with the exception of people with Life or Death/Spendthrift or the odd crit from a Berserker. I never had to worry about her being doubled because of her high speed, and her really high Magic made it so she got back most of the health she lost when she used Nosferatu.
I actually found her to be more useful than Leo. Maybe the RNG gods just favored her more than Leo, or maybe I just favored her more because she was my wife, but I found Leo's stats to be average overall, while her glass cannon stats plus Nosferatu made her ultimately more tanky.

Same, it wasn't nearly as hard as people made it out to be. Like just pair up your units correctly and use a strategy like Niles + Azura on the Ballista and setting up Effie along with Arthur or Silas at a choke point. Plus Archer Mozu really helps out. Not to mention Camilla made it soooooo easy

A word of advice here, CRASH: when you address stages like Chapter 10 later on, you need to be respectful of the fact that not everyone hates them, and many people actually love them. In fact, it's not even a matter of those people who find chapters like that EASY (although in my case, I actually was aware of the chapter thanks to the FE: Fates pages on Tv Tropes listing it as one of the really tough ones - under "That One Chapter"), because I know a lot of people really LOVED the difficulty spike; they found it fun because the set-up was surprising and creative, and for those who thought "Awakening" was too damn easy (Lunatic Mode aside) it was a welcome breath of fresh air if they missed the tougher POR, RD, BS (Blazing Sword) and such chapters...
Of course, I speak of this as one of those complete nutcases who actually ENJOYS chapters like, say, "Night of Farewells". Yes, you read that correctly - I actually really appreciate that one, not LOVE it, but really enjoy it; while the difficulty spike is indeed painful to endure (and can crush you if you're under-levelled), the tense atmosphere of the stage was very appropriate for the mood and the chapter felt really climactic (setting up the remainder of the game, save of course the shopping sidequest chapter); I also loved getting Nino and Jaffar (who can REALLY hold his own, especially on the Eliwood routes) and finding the best approach to survive Ursula, and the knowledge of Zephiel's eventual fate in FE6 just made me appreciate the SIGNIFICANCE of the level all the more...
In contrast, I absolutely HATE playing through "Port of Badon" every time I get there (while most people seem to enjoy it, or even love it), because I like to use that one as a chance to grind at the arena (before you get a few promotional items over the next couple chapters) and make money; but to do so, you have to get past Damien and Fargus' OP pirates, which is even MORE hell-on-earth if you're playing Hector's Mode or either of the Hard difficulties. You can use Marcus with the Horseslayer dropped by Erik a few levels back to kill Damien easily (or a Silver Lance), but that means you have to sacrifice the chance to grind someone you might want to use (like, say, Raven or Lucius who only came recently) and you don't exactly have the biggest party on NORMAL Mode, let alone Hard (and you need a healer, so Priscilla or Serra is essential). The Mine Glitch is an option, as you can stop Damien and then have everyone drop their equipment so they can't hurt you on your turn, but that requires getting it AND not wasting it, and you can't use it later as a result... But that's not even the worst part, oh no; if you are careless or have bad luck in the arena, you die, and that means you must reset and do it all AGAIN. And the number of times that Eliwood was killed in that arena on Hard Mode, by Pirate or Brigand or Fighter class enemies with less than a 35% chance of striking him, who successfully hit him TWICE... Gah, it's a miracle I haven't committed homicide over the lost hours playing that GODSFORSAKEN, pain in my lily-white Eastern European ARSE!!!!

Whenever I discuss my least favourite of anything on this channel be it fire emblem, anime or monster hunter, I always acknowledge why certain people like whatever it is I'm discussing at the time, and I always address what I feel to be positive aspects of it, and chapter 10 certainly has a lot of positive aspects that I really like.

CRASHX500 Well I can't ask for anything more, then... I admit, I'm not quite sure if any of the individual routes has quite enough chapters for both Top 10s (every story in this game goes up to Chapter 27, then the Endgame/Final Chapter), so I have to ask if you were doing a Top 10 or Top 5 for Worst Chapters on each route. That's the reason I would never make a Top 10 for the "Awakening" kids - there's only 13 of them, so it makes the 3 that wouldn't make it on a Top 10 stand out (in contrast, there are 21 in total for "Fates").
Also, as a word of advice, it might be best to not do EVERY Nohr-related countdown on your schedule before anything else; if you do that, it might make people who really want to see your list of Hoshidan Characters/Chapters (of which I am one) a bit impatient. It also helps vary out your "Fates-Athon", so we can switch partway through and such before going back to them. I dunno... it's just a thought.
...Especially since at this point, I can't tell if you're one of those people who irrationally hates poor Takumi and are ragging on him more seriously, or if you actually like him and are poking fun at him being "butt-hurt". I'm not going to demand you favour him as a character if that's not your taste (given my feelings about the Nohrians being the reverse order to yours), but I would at LEAST hope that we don't have to wait until later July (or August) to get your Top 10 Hoshidan Characters list out...
I'm also playing through "Conquest" first, though I got it a bit later than you (my car was dead at the time of release and I'd successfully pre-ordered the Special Edition on the other side of my city - the CAPITAL of Australia, BTW) so I'm not finished with it yet, but my reason for playing it first was not because it appealed to me best. I had... spoiler-based reasons for it, which pertained to deciding to play "Birthright" between the other two; due to the circumstances of several characters that didn't differ much between CQ and REV (I'm thoroughly spoiled, as you might realise), I've elected to use the BR route as a balm for that, as otherwise I'd rag on Nintendo and IntSys for being cruel, heartless bastards towards a certain character in particular... and other things, as well, but mostly that one point in question. ^.^

To answer your first question I will be doing top 10 best and worst chapters per route. Secondly regarding the nohr videos, worst chapters is the last one I'll make that's nohr exclusive since I haven't beaten birthright yet, so at the very least I'm making videos in the mean time instead of just making everyone wait for me to beat it. And finally no I don;t hate takumi, I was just making fun of his attitude in conquest.

TBH I actually really liked Chapter 10 of Conquest because save for seize the Throne which is essentially defeat the Boss while keeping the Lord near your mounted units, there hadn't really been anything that was REALLY outside of my experiences with Fire Emblem then Chapter 10 came along and MY GOD it was a huge wake up call granted I was playing on Normal so that may have been why I was ok with it

You may like chapter 20, but revelation chapter 9 is awful. You are underleveled, Fuga is near broken this early on, and when you get rinkah she's level four on average. And it uses the same gimmick, despite the fact that rinkah dies in 2 hits.

It also pisses me off because they ruined the DV. No matter who activates it, it always affects your units, so strategy goes out the window in favor of "Stay away from the wind!". Also, the fact that they finally give you more units... only to make them the Hoshidan "speed and nothing else" classes that can't take or deal damage. With horrible bases on top of that. Seriously, on Lunatic Rinkah needs the enemies to be debuffed by Kaze/Jakob/Felicia to deal ANY damage to most enemies. And the Oni Savages have 30+ HP.

Personally I would switch chapter 12 with 10. 12 isn't terrible and actually Ryoma does almost nothing against a paired up Effie but the gimmick is irritating and the time limit just makes it infinitely worse.
10 was far more enjoyable because while yes it is challenging, it forces the player to adapt new play styles like instead of using Niles to kill enemy units, you instead keep him manned on the ballista to whittle down reinforcements. Or instead of trying to not use prepromotes like Camilla excessively, you take advantage of her bulkiness to thin out the enemies. This chapters forces you to use different strategies than you normally would and for that I applaud it. And there's varying degrees of difficulty to the chapter since there are multiple houses to access and there's the bonus of taking down Takumi if you want too. I can see why some people don't like it, but personally I think it's a really well designed chapter.

Chapter 13 is an interesting chapter. Since in chapter 10 Takumi is pretty hard to fight but if you did you'd probably notice the foreshadowing. If you were curious in Chapter 10 Takumi's boss theme is You of the Light, the boss theme used for Hinoka, Sakura and Ryoma however in chapter 13 Takumi's boss theme changes to A Puppet's Feast. If you understand the context of this boss theme this is a very interesting bit of foreshadowing.

Chapter 10 was actually quite fun for me, I loved the difficulty associated with it, but also the ease if you manage to hold out the main checkpoints of the map. It really delves deep into personal strategy, which is what I love of the F.E series.

12:52 yes, it is a no-brain choice. of course you're gonna choose the boots, shura is simply not good enough for how late he joins, the boots are the way better reward here. till I played revelations where he is actually quite useful I didn't even bother to remember this dudes name, always referred to him as what he is: "free boots" - man
also no, chapter 20 is the worst. the wind is such an annoying feature as you have to know the upcoming wind cycles in advance if you wanna make good use of them, and that one wind cycle where its just upward wind across the entire stage is a big fuck you to anyone trying to get the chest on the far right of the map, as your ninja is gonna get blown upwards right to the boss if you get caught off guard by it.

Shura's alright. By the time you get him, you've had Niles for a while who I'll admit is better in just about every way, but he's alright if you need an extra bowman or a bit of extra healing. Besides, you can always turn him into a Master Ninja and give him a debuffing role.

Shura is perfectly fine when you first get him. His problem is that his growth rates are trash so that, combat-wise, he’s nearly useless in the late-game.

in my opinion, if you've sunk a lot of time into Niles, Shura is "ok" but Niles is probably going to be better. I do think that Shura has the better personal skill as I don't make much use out of the Kidnap skill unless I want a special unit. I promise you, Shura regardless of route is going to have a higher staff rank than Niles but Niles "might" have the better bow rank.

One of my all-time favorites is Chapter 7 CQ. Allow me to overdescribe this chapter to get my point across.
You're in a dark forest, the only units available being your Avatar and either Felicia or Jakob. *You're surrounded by Faceless.* One quick look around the Map shows that all of the Faceless have Grisly Wound, one has Poison Strike, one has Savage Blow, the boss has Wary Fighter, and all of the paired-up ones have Seal Speed (this is on Lunatic, it may be different on anything below). Not to mention, the Map Theme is Dark Wastes, which isn't exactly the most hopeful of songs. You think to yourself, "How the HELL am I supposed to do this?!" You move to the left, due to the most readily-available Faceless being over there. You manage to kill one, or at the very least bring it down to low health.
Turn two. You realize that there are Faceless charging from the top and bottom, so you pull back a bit to try and intercept them. *But there are just too many.* You're about to be swarmed, and you're about to die.
Turn three. You hear someone calling out to you. And who better to show than your childhood friend Silas, as well as your little sister Elise. Now you have a bit more firepower as well as a bit more healing and you think to yourself, "maybe...just maybe, I can pull this off."
Turn four. Elise's retainers, Arthur and Effie, show up. This is when an idea hits you: block one side with your Avatar, block another with Silas, and block the remaining side with Effie with Jakob and Elise playing support. Before you know it, you've won. You thought you were stacked against impossible odds, but you somehow managed to pull through.
This is what cemented this chapter as an all-time favorite: it sets the precedent for the rest of Conquest almost perfectly. It seems like you're stacked against unbeatable odds, but either by clever tactics or just sheer dumb luck, you pull through. Conquest is not an easy game, some say it's the hardest game in the series, but it's not impossible. A glimmer of hope appears just when you thought all hope was lost. You might not get it the first run, but you'll finish eventually. And it makes the finishing jingle all the sweeter...

chapter 18 was way easier when i realised the best weapon was to move all the units to the left,and send the high res units(for me it was me anna and xander) north to get rid of the mages and send the mag units/strongest units down(camilla,beruka,ophelia,leo,so on) to take care of the armored units.

Speculation time for the top 10 worst!
-Chapter 21 was here, so possibly one of the reasons will include the stoneborn.
-Chapter 10 won't make the number one spot, but it may be the top 3.
-A good half of the chapters will have ninjas as enemies, one of which will make Crash go on a full rant about them.
-Chapter 17 will be top 5.
-Chapter 26 will be in it.
-Chapter 24 will be in it, and crash will call it the worse of the Hoshidan Sibling encounters.
-The endgame may not be it.
-Chapter 25 will be in it, but maybe in the bottom 5 since you don't technically have to go the the chests.
-Chapter 19 will be in between in 7-4 mark.

Aww, Chapter 10 was honestly my favorite chapter in all of Fates. I felt like the level was a good balance of difficult and fun, and I just really like defense levels (which was why Elincia's Gambit was one of my favorite chapters of RD).

weirdly enough, L liked chapter 10 of conquest, I thought it was a really fun, micro-management chapter that if you made 1 mistake it would cost you, and that was exactly what I wanted from conquest.
another good fates video here. still, i'm mad I couldn't get mine done. fast enough.

The wind COULD have added an extra layer. Ya know, if it was CONSISTENT WITH HOW IT WORKED.
I can't tell you how many resets I've had on that level due to me thinking the wind would/wouldn't move someone, and forgetting either when/ how the wind moved people.

You liked Fuga's Wild ride!? a unique mechanic to be sure but so unfair! either have your weaker units dragged away or drag foes close after you've moved... I jut had to use only powerful unites and ride the wind to Fuga. (the thing that really grinds my gear is 5 SPACES it's built around that you... it'll make fighting foes tear your team apart putting half on one side and half on another or maybe having all haveing the foe just barley in the wind so some people will be torn away and others won't)

That was a good list, personally I would have had Hinoka's chapter, Ryoma's chapter (purely for the story and atmosphere more than anything). And am I the only one who didn't think chapter 10 was THAT bad? The endgame level deserves to be slagged off more than chapter 10 imo, because despite having an amazing soundtrack, there is SO much wrong with the endgame...

Very few will disagree about Chapter 10. It's defend hell. It's good from a story perspective and rewards heart seal users like myself, because a heart seal let's you use both ballistas if you change Mozu or Nyx's class, but the rest of it is overwhelming. Maybe the top players can navigate this chapter without frustration, but for average ones like me, it's difficult and enraging. Because I want to visit those villages, but have to defend from three sides. Wait, no, every side because of Dragon Veins.
Nohr has the best wind tribe chapter in my opinion, and I like their ice tribe chapter better than the one in Birthright.

To be honest Chapter 10 isnt as bad as your making it out to be. Sure its a hard chapter and the Dragon Vein Takumi uses is a suprise the first time around, but overall its one of my favorite chapters in the series because the launcher weapons, multiple points of defense, several ways to tackle the chapter, the villages tempt you to play more offensively

sakura's chapter was fun, honestly. but the biggest thing that ruined it for me was Yukimura. My hit rates against him were extremely low and it was extremely disheartening to have gone through the whole chapter with my skill and then lose because of one unit with high speed. I even used debuff staffs dammit

That's certainly true since conquest in general was hard but I still feel it has some of the best level design in the entire series, however that's only if it's fair hard, not bullshit hard like certain chapters.

I might get hate for this but.... i HATE playing through Nohr, and playing Birthright first i don't think is an excuse because i myself am a level grinder....everything goes by too quickly for me or everything is super HARD.
Here's my comparison -
Birthright - Hates one chapter ( if you're wondering it's chapter 15 because i did not know one of the Wolfskin had Countermagic and i used the Dragonstone, i was angry at myself for not knowing that)
Conquest - Hates 4 Chapters (Chapter 10, though for some reason when i tried my first playthrough again i beat it on my first try .-.. Chapter 15 because of the lack of units, 19 because of the fucking illusions and 20 because of...everything really)
I'm sorry for those who like Nohr but...i'm quitting my Nohr playthroughs and replacing them with Revelations playthroughs (After i finish birthright :P)

No...i have played Awakening and i just like level grinding, and i am trying all the difficulties, i REFUSE to play Phoenix mode so i'm not a noob...
There's a difference between wanting to balance out all your units by level grinding and having to go with what you have and missing out on so much....i want to use everyone equally that's all.

I totally agree with the wind level being fun, but I don't get how Castle Macarath is. I played through the game blind and hitting this chapter was terrible. Elise was one of my main units, and she was unusable. In addition, Ryoma doesn't let you heal her, which made me really hate the story around the entire chapter, since I had mostly assumed that my hoshidan siblings (except Takumi, of course) weren't going to be total asshats.
...Also I made it one space away from the exit on the last turn on my first play of it, with Ryoma being the only enemy left, and he was not killed.
