If I had a fantasy trip to Japan, I'd spend a good portion of it just trying out and riding the incredible variety of Japanese trains! I think they are the best in the world!

You pretty much do that for any trip to Japan. By far the quickest way to get from a to b and so clean and efficient. I especially loved all the rural train services, with kids going to and from school and we, as older people, had lots of cross language " chats" with lovely retired people on day trips, who frequently shared food with us, sonetto watch our reactions🤣

You should make that fantasy a reality. For the tourist in Japan they offer a special ticket enabling you to experience most trains including the shinkansen. I've done it a few times.

The styling of the train is reminiscent of what you might see in 1930's Buck Rodgers comic strips. It has its own character and certainly is not bland.
