    Like everything in Japan, Hinotori seems so clean and well thought out. Everything is considerate for the train customer. No you do not all sound like anime to me, but the women's voices are usually very gentle and soft.

    2:07 My first time in Namba station I went to the wrong platform and saw the Hinotori. It's red and gold color made it look elegant and stood out from the other trains. I also liked the firebird logo on the side of the train.
    7:50 hahahhaha. My first encounter with Japan were Kurosawa's movies in film appreciation class. I assumed everyone sounds like Toshiro Mifune in Japan.
    14:35 Each time you pass through the countryside, I see old-style houses like these. Is this a style popular outside cities?
    18:07 Donki!
    Thanks again for another fun trip. Stay safe!

      Hi, John😆
      Yes, Hinotori looked so elegant in every way.
      That old style of house you talk about is what
      you can see almost everywhere in Japan, espeically in rural towns. On rare occasions, you will see one in busy cities like central Tokyo or Osaka. But we don't build that old style Japanese houses anymore these days except rare cases.

    The Shinkansen may be faster but there is one issue: the train stops at Shin-Osaka Station. As such, you have to change trains just to get back into central Osaka.

    • @travelgeekphotography
      @travelgeekphotography  2 года назад +4

      That's been every Japanese's pet peeve
      also haha
      The reason Shinkansen not directly
      going to central Osaka is that if it stops at Osaka Station, it has to make a steep turn to approach the station. Osaka Station is in the middle of a conjested area of central Osaka. So they made Shin-Osaka Station (Shin means New) as an alternative station, for Shinkansen rails to be in straight lines, not steeply curved around Osaka Station.

    • @Sacto1654
      @Sacto1654 2 года назад +1

      @@rezaalan3991 The "Shin" of Shinkansen also means "New". Basically, Shinkansen is an alternative railway line for the existing line, Tokaido Line. So they say "Tokaido Shinkansen" meaning "Tokaido New Line". They usually make Shin-'something' stations for the Shinkansen lines but there are also ones for local JR lines. Thank you for the video. I saw some things I would like to ask questions about:
    - When you entered the station there was a barrier and you interacted with it using your phone. Was there a barcode of some description displayed on your phone as a ticket?
    - I too am curious about “only coins” in the vending machines. Almost all vending machines in my area (NY/NJ USA) take cards, either by dipping them or (more commonly) by NFC which allows phones and watches.
    - You mention “rice fields and such” discussing the agriculture. The land looks so flat that you would think it had been graded. Is that what was done?
    - Do the Shinkashen trains have completely separate rights of way?
    Thanks,
    John

    • @travelgeekphotography
      @travelgeekphotography  2 года назад +2

      Thanks John!
      I used an IC card (Prepaid e-money card in Japan) on my phone. I scaned it like a ticket and the gate opened.
      As far as I know, the rice fields is now in harvest season, from September to October. So some of them look flat and others look not
      harvested yet in this season.
      Shinkansen lines were built by Japan National Railway back in 1964. So the lines are straight and have rights of way compared to other competing lines.
