If I were given a choice between more traditional luxury train accommodations such as on the Orient Express and a more modern kind such as this, hands down I'd pick this. Clean, attractive, efficient, all the right touches and you just can't beat the duplex apartment arrangement. I've stayed in quite a few train sleepers but this is just beyond anything that I've experienced.

My wife and I rode this train when it was in regular overnight service between Sapporo and Ueno in 2007. We very much wanted either Bedroom 1 or one of the other deluxe bedrooms, but they were sold out when we tried to make our reservation, so we had to settle for one of the regular bedrooms. Also, the lounge car was out of service on our trip. Still, we had a wonderful trip. It seems like using this on a 6-hour day-trip train sort of wastes its amenities. It should be used on a real overnight service of 12 to 16 hours or more.

Beautiful train service…It’s interesting that the bedroom is on the first floor of the accommodation. This is an interesting design for Amtrak to consider in the next phase of its sleeper car design. Private apartments or suites similar to first class airline suites.

What did you think of the suite maisonette on the Japanese sleeper train Cassiopeia? Please write your impressions.
After this video, I uploaded a video of a standard type private room called Cassiopeia Twin.
    ruclips.net/video/o7exmi8cOq4/видео.html
I have also subsequently uploaded a video of the train "Tran Suite Shiki-shima", which is more luxurious than the Cassiopeia.
    ruclips.net/video/0kdbIgTeoeY/видео.html
Compared to standard rooms, suites are larger and come with additional facilities such as background music, showers, and amenities.
Also, in the video above, I ate a Cassiopeia bento instead of French food at the dining room like in this video. The Cassiopeia bento and standard type rooms are also interesting, so please watch the video linked above if you like.
    今回はカシオペアメゾネットスイートの個室への乗車動画です。
    この動画の後、カシオペアツインというスタンダードタイプの個室の乗車動画をアップしていました。
    ruclips.net/video/o7exmi8cOq4/видео.html
    またカシオペアよりも豪華さを追求した列車「トランスイート四季島」の動画をその後にアップしています。
    ruclips.net/video/0kdbIgTeoeY/видео.html

A very retro aesthetic, one can enjoy that train and become nostalgic about many train journeys from decades ago, while enjoying a nice understated level of luxury, that doesn't feel ostentatious or boastful.
As for the RUclips channel, there's a relaxing, engrossing quality to the producer's work. I could believe such a man has a mind as serene as a glacial lake!

Great trip. Cassiopeia running as a day train and less than 12 hours trip is definitely over powered, since enjoying lot of facilities onboard at short duration time isn't enough.

    製造から24年経過したカシオペア。しかし、室内は目に見えない部分まで掃除が行き届いているようだ。
    ななつ星と較べると内装材はチープ感が否めないが、現場スタッフ達の献身的努力が動画からでも判る。これなら42万円をペイしても抵抗感は全く無い。

    • @LuxuryTravelClub
      @LuxuryTravelClub  Год назад +50

      Yes.
Cassiopeia is a popular sleeper train that used to run regularly, but now it runs only occasionally for tours. Cassiopeia runs only occasionally, but there are many fans who like Cassiopeia, so ticket prices are high.

      In my opinion:
For the same reason people spend 2000, 4000, 6000...dollars on a first class seat of an airplane.
For the same reason people spend 6000, 10000, 20000, 50000...dolars (per day) on a luxury room of a 5 stars hotel.
Poor people and middle class people think it's a waste of money, however, millonaires and billonaires consider it normal prices.

Cassiopeia is not currently scheduled and runs irregularly as a tour trip.
They are recruiting tours to ride Cassiopeia on this website.
      www.jrview-travel.com/content/sp/cassiopeia/
Unfortunately, the website only supports Japanese.
Those who apply early can participate in the tour, so it is necessary to apply as soon as the recruitment appears on the website.
