Thank you all for joining me on this incredible journey with Rocky. Good reaction 👍I consider all Rockymovies as a total work of art, which is why a ranking is out of the question for me. I don't judge the individual chapters of a book either. I only have a special connection to this movie because my father died a month before the movie was released. Rocky's speech to his son at the cinema hit me straight to the heart and has become a kind of mantra for me today I enjoyed the whole journey 😍
Hi Centane! Young lady you'll enjoy this "Rocky Balboa" film a lot more as you get older and can relate more to the feeling of having to "say goodbye to persons, places, and things you currently enjoy. In 2006 when this came out, we the former teenage Rocky fans of the 1970's LOVED it because it inspired us to "keep moving forward" in spite of new challenges that come with aging - which we were not facing when the previous "Rocky" movies came out. In this movie - Rocky was having a hard time accepting the fact that he still had the killer instinct of a young fighter but did not have the youth to act it out and release it. He finally did and achieved closure. All bad times in life involve saying goodbye to something or someone you love. God bless you Centane.
People say “Adrian wasn’t in it”, when (if you think about it), she IS in it! Just because you don’t see someone you love, doesn’t mean they’re not there!
Sometimes the best scenes are the ones that keep getting picked up by the whatever it is RUclips uses to decline uploads for copyrights. Sometimes it gets edited tons of times and nothing makes it get through so they eventually just remove the scene.
Rocky 5 was intended to be the end of the franchise. Stallone and Talia Shire both agreed for this Rocky story to make sense, it was best that her character had already died off screen. When I saw this one, I was surprised at how good it is. I rank Rocky 6 pretty high. It is the perfect send off to the series. Some great dialog, especially Rocky's golden speech with his son. Great character development.
I was actually watching a clip showing the making of this. Adrian was initially going to be in it but Stallone and Talia Shire met up and decided that Rocky having lost Adrian would just make him seem more down and 'hopeless'. She even made a press release so that people woudn't think she had just been dropped from the film when it was a joint decision.
In the very first Rocky movie, Apollo during an interview. Standing next to Rocky joked that because he was Italian if he couldn't fight at least he could cook and when he quit fighting, he started a restaurant and named it after his late wife so a little piece of her was always with him. 😢
The reason we get more of little Marie is because Rocky suffers from depression and anxiety, his wife is dead and his son won't visit him. He just wants to be helpful and and useful. That's why he gets his puppy he saw himself in the dog, he makes the comment about the dog saving his energy and gives him a chance for a better life. Something he himself would want.
I think Rocky Balboa is the best of all Rockies, so many inspirational speeches, " The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward", that's the best that I ever heard in movies about the life, I think Rocky Balboa should be top 5 movies all time
2:55 I found this on imdb: "Sylvester Stallone felt that the film lacked the necessary emotional impact it needed. So, he and Talia Shire came to an agreement that her character would be best left out of the film, as this would create an emotional chasm for Rocky from the very first moment of the film."
Once again, Stallone drew inspiration from real fighters. In the commentary, he talked about how retired boxers who aren't rich but have managed to hold onto some of their money will often use it to open bars or clubs where their fame is the main draw, and they mingle with the customers and entertain them with tales of their past glories in the boxing ring.
"Lets get ready to RUMBLE!!" is specifically thought up by that announcer in the movie named Michael Buffer, who actually trademarked that catch phrase, and he made millions over it.
I heard from some interview that he said he still has the same turtles at home and their the original first Rocky turtles they just live a really long time.
There's a deleted scene with Paulie in the alleyway after he got laid off that showed him in a completely different light that is worth checking out. I really wish they kept it in the movie as it was his greatest character growth.
Talia Shire responded best when asked how she felt about not being in the movie, "The whole movie is about me!" she was right. Adrian's presence is in almost every scene. She was his strength and his motivation throughout the Rocky saga. If she had been alive, there was no way Rocky would have gone back to the ring, no matter what his financial condition. He would have been happily retired and lived his last years out in peace. That beast inside is the intense loneliness that he is experiencing without her, which IMO only heals (spoiler alert) when Adonis comes into his life in Creed.
I grew up on the Rocky movies. I was 30 when this came out and I remember watching this and crying so many times because these were characters I grew up with and loved. I enjoyed this movie but it hit hard in so many ways. Watch it again and you’ll probably like it better. It’s hardest the first time because of the emotions
Rocky Balboa is arguably the best sequel in the franchise. If for no other reason, it's for the amazing speech Rocky gives his son which totally sums up the whole point of Rocky and gives audiences a wonderful lesson in life.
I think Stallone was trying to bring back to its roots and away from the bigger budgets part 3-5 were. Not seeing Adrian was difficult but it continued the real pain that Rocky had gone through his entire life and career. It showed us why Rocky was so important to us. We saw him as human and not bigger then life. Just like his magnificent speech we fall and get back up and continue fighting. Losing Adrian had him spiraling and he needed to remind himself to fight and get back up and so he did.
If you are ever in Philly, the restaurant Adrian’s is actually The Victor Café. Great Italian food. The unique thing is the wait staff are all trained opera singers. Every 20 minutes, they will sing a song! It’s awesome!
Rocky is a simple character. Yet it's hard to find a character that can teach you how to keep going, how to be a husband, a father and a friend. He does these things without even thinking about it.
Adrian was gonna return but Stallone thought Rocky would have no reason to fight agian. It wouldn't make sense. Him hurting from her being gone made the fight special. This movie has a lot of heart. One of my favorites
Just recently on his social media, Sylvester Stallone showed pictures of a noted pad where he had lots of scribbled notes on ideas for a possible Rocky 7 , of course he said it will never happen now , but it shows he was thinking of another Rocky movie and i can say that it took me by surprise
Like you and everyone else, I was also sad. But Stallone is a realist and in real life most of us don't get happy endings, I like how he ended it, the same way it started, with no Adrian and with him losing the fight. We all lose the fight in the end
Centane, Rocky's opponent in this movie, "Mason Dixon," was played by Antonio Tarver, who had been a real-life World Champion in both the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. And the trainers and broadcasters in the film were also the real thing.
The Father/Son conversation hit me like a ton of bricks when I first saw it. Completely different reasons, I was in a really dark time in my life and it was letting other people's opinions and thoughts get to me on account of it, and my Dad had a similar conversation with me. Straightened me right out just knowing someone was on my side no matter what.
I’ve enjoyed seeing you react to the Rocky movies. I understand your feelings about Adrian not being present in Rocky Balboa. There been sorta debates about it, and fair explanations why they went that route. Even though I felt the same way. Many fans undoubtably have initially. On one hand it felt like missed opportunity to see her in the film leading to an emotionally impactful death like Micky and Apollo. But it also felt like a sense of relief not to see such a powerful character die in front of our eyes. Your not the only one who maybe find this one their least favorite despite how happy most fans were of it. Even the bigger defenders of Rocky 5 deems Rocky 6 among the best. And I’d be lying if I said Balboa was my upmost favorite. Rocky 3 is definitely an absolute favorite. Followed by Rocky 4. Even though I do believe the first two are masterful quality movies. But 3&4 I was the most entertained by. I’m not a Rocky 5 hater, but it’s my least favorite. Look forward to the Creed movies.
I kind of think you missed the nuances of this film. It is my personal favourite, it is beautifully handled. The speech to his son about life, his relationship to little Marie when his says “his wife is gone but not gone”, the training speech that Duke gives, Paulies growth and brutal honesty about his relationship with Adrian. I go back and forth whether this is the best film. Stallone made it feel exactly how I think Rocky was going to be in his later years. Great movie. Bittersweet
adrien had to die, because, with her alive, rocky would not have any reason to fight again, but without her, helost his balance and things piled up "in the basement" . and it had to be off-screen, for onscreen it would have takenaway too mucht of the story, to concentrate on the message of the movie...
My ranking for the movies was 1,2,4,6,3,5. This movie was the perfect ending for the series. Rocky went out as he came in. Going the distance. It shows that Rocky's real strength was his determination.
I was saving my comment for your reaction in this movie. There are deleted scenes that can be seen on RUclips from Rocky V that shows the original Little Marie casted. It turns out that she didnt listen to Rocky's advice as a kid as she is homeless in the deleted scene. And im surprised you didnt recognized Spider Rico who was the very first fighter Rocky fought in the opening scene of the first Rocky in 1976.
Talia and Stallone decided together to have Adrian be gone for character and story reasons. People are allowed to have different opinions, and it seems people reacting nowadays to Rocky V often like it better than we did when it came out, but it was generally disliked upon release. I personally consider the first four Rocky films among my favorites but I can't stand several elements of the fifth one (while I love a few of them too). I share most of the same reasons with others back in the day. Rocky Balboa was made in part as a way to give Rocky a more fan-friendly finale to the main series. I say all this because you seemed to not see much story/character reason for this movie to exist. For those who weren't satisfied with Rocky V (including Stallone after time for some hindsight), this sixth film provides a more respectful finale. I'm not telling you how to feel about the movies, but I'm just shedding some light on how all this came about.
You know i always love Rocky movies all of them but this one is specialto me cause this is all ROCKY'S LIFE i mean all his win loss but most important time spend amazing this movie is strong
It's how I like it, no need to comment, just react, I can see what happens, I don't need a voice over😅 pure honest reactions are what I like, all this over-the-top commenting most channels do is annoying, so reaction videos like your rocky reactions, is what I find amazing
My favorite Rocky movie! Saw it in the theatre and Paulie ... Just hits you right in tbe heart :( His dialogue with Rocky about his regret's over how he treated Adrian hit REAL close to home for me :( 💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭
Love your reaction as always. I was 9 when Rocky I came out and my parents took me to see it in theater. Now, I'm 57 years old. Each Rocky movie gets harder to watch. it is a reminder of all of the things Ive loved and lost and that time is undefeated. Seeing Adrian's gravestone was just another reminder of all things I said. The only thing I can say is Im not scared of dying. It is the logical conclusion to life. But I can no longer do the things I love due to covid attacks. Im ok with it ending.
I'm 52 and understand what you say. The movies absolutely take on a new meaning as we get older. It's great to see younger people get into the Rocky movies! Hang in there, I didn't hear any bell!
The Creed movies are really good, you are going to love them. I agree with your list, and this movie was a good throw back and had an amazing speech, but it was always going to be the worst of them all simply due to Adrian being gone.
Adrian was originally a part of the script, but Stallone felt it lacked good reason for Rocky to get back in the ring and an emotional impact. plus she didn't have a lot to do in the script, her only big moment was her giving the "fighters fight" speech. Talia Shire was very supportive of the choice and Stallone made sure she would be paid in full for what was agreed upon when she originally signed onto the movie. listing it as pay for archive footage
It's wonderful that you followed the entire series so closely it was emotional to me also. Try Rambo next, although I know you have a list...be safe and well
Centane, this movie had a lot of heart and even though had has it's sad moments, it still maintains it's hopeful and inspiring speeches that gives motivation - the strength to keep going in life and get through the hard times and overcome the odds. Plus, I enjoyed it Here Rocky started whaling on Mason "the line" Dickson with his hard iron punches. Welcome to Rocky land lol
I think Centane is great, intelligent and funny, but... she is very young and seems to me that she still thinks, emotionally, like a child. I don't mean it in a bad way. Small stuff like not including the words Rocky directs to his son to make him change his mind, one of the greatest moments in the movie. She probably didn't find it interesting enough. I mean, she thought the movie was just sad, she didn't connect the dots properly. That's not really sad, that's life. That's how life is. To live is to lose. You gain some stuff as you grow but you lose everything little by little as you grow older. And while it may be very sad from the point of view of the youth, from the point of view of an adult, it's bittersweet. It's emotionally complex. She just couldn't notice that scale of emotions and I don't think that most young people can. For most people, they have to live through it to understand. This movie is close to a masterpiece. Not a masterpiece, but close enough. To me, the best of the rocky movies except probably the first one. The way it manages emotions is incredible. It doesn't go too far in any way. I really, really love it.
It’s just like the first movie. It wasn’t about winning. It was just to prove he could still go toe to toe with the world champ. And he almost won as a 70 year old guy vs the world champ in his 30s in his prime. Adrian wasn’t in it by decision. They both thought the story could make more sense without her. What else does he have to fight for. He’s got the beast inside him. Anger sadness over Adrian being gone.
I always said if Rocky and Mason could have went for just a little while longer. Rocky would have beat that young man and won the title, but he only wanted to go the distance just like in Rocky one and I absolutely love Rocky Balboa and I love your reaction to this entire franchise, I’m looking forward to watching your creed franchise reaction. Love your work I’ll stay tuned.
1:27 I went to the theatre with my girlfriend in 2006 and saw the popster for this movie...First of all the poster only showed the back of Rocky's head holding up his fist at the top of the "Rocky steps" and the movie was called "Rocky Balboa" instead of "Rocky VI" so I thought it was a remake, and IMO a remake was a stupid idea. Then I saw the trailer before the movie I was watching and thought "OMG this is gonna be awesome...and I was right. Now that YOU have watched it, I think you should watch the alternate ending.
Your too young to understand. When you get older you start to feel like the best part of your life is behind you and you want to relive some of those times. This is showing he wanted feel like he did when he was happiest. It wasnt about winning, it was about doing what he loved doing.
For me this movie its about time goes by doesnt matter if you are ready or not just like Mickie said on Rocky 5 about geting old and keep loosing and loosing
Thank you all for joining me on this incredible journey with Rocky. I have really loved every single movie, and it's been the most heartfelt, loving, exciting, fun, dramatic, depressing, motivational, energetic, infuriating and amazing series I've seen that isn't high fantasy. This series brought out all the feelings and made me care for every character. I've laughed, shared my theories, talked with many of you, discussed and even bought merch for Rocky. Thinking that this was a series that would not interest me, I have never been more wrong. We went and watched it when we were kids, I loved the romantic part! Adrian!!! Every car I've had has been named: "Adrian!"
Good reaction 👍I consider all Rockymovies as a total work of art, which is why a ranking is out of the question for me. I don't judge the individual chapters of a book either. I only have a special connection to this movie because my father died a month before the movie was released. I enjoyed the whole journey 😍
I think Rocky's speech to his son outside his restaurant is one of the best scenes in the film
I'm glad you like it, but I think it's really short-sighted, honestly.
You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.
But it ain't about how hard you hit.
It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
Hi Centane! I also wish that the deleted scene had been included. Paulie has survivor’s guilt because his his wonderful sister is gone but he’s still there. 😢

This. Every single bit of this. Well said.
I love seeing people react to Balboa's speech to his son.

Left out the best speech of the movie

Just hits you right in tbe heart :( His dialogue with Rocky about his regret's over how he treated Adrian hit REAL close to home for me :(
💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭
His conversation with Robert is so great 😢❤ I've watched it whenever I get dowb on myself and I need a kick in the ass. Keep. Moving. Forward. 💪💪
The "Lets get ready to rumble" is Michael Buffer's specialty :) since the late 80s or early 90s :)
Enjoyed your reactions on the rocky series! Glad you enjoyed them. Looking forward to your creed reactions!
this is my favourite, as he has all off rocky over the years, plus the icon speach, i think, this was genius, after so long
YOU ARE RIGHT ROICKY WAS NEVER UNDER DEFEATTED
4:35 Antonio Tarver (Mason Dixon) was also the REAL heavyweight champion at the time this was being filmed...or around the same time.
Funfact: All the strikes in the fight of this movie are real. Stallone wanted the fight to look as real as possible
Rocky - “No Little Marie, it aint alright.”
World - “Oh shit!”
Rocky 1, 2, 3, 6, 4, 5.
That's my order.
I didn't think it was great...but that speech he gave to his son was epic
Creed!!! You will LOVE IT!!!
The empress herself is back with another rocky reaction🤩🙌🎉
Adrian's dead, not in the film, and it's STILL their love story.
thanks for watch the saga... I hope we can see you in Creed 1 and 2.
Now you are ready to watch "Creed". A hello from Brasil 🇧🇷 🇧🇷
PLease watch the extra Paulie scene. It gives him more story.
Love your work I’ll stay tuned.
this will break u Rocky 6 before Creed Great Reaction
05:35 Welcome to getting old ;)
Now you need to see the Creed trilogy, Rocky is in there
Can't wait for you to see the Creed movies
1:27 I went to the theatre with my girlfriend in 2006 and saw the popster for this movie...First of all the poster only showed the back of Rocky's head holding up his fist at the top of the "Rocky steps" and the movie was called "Rocky Balboa" instead of "Rocky VI" so I thought it was a remake, and IMO a remake was a stupid idea. Then I saw the trailer before the movie I was watching and thought "OMG this is gonna be awesome...and I was right. Now that YOU have watched it, I think you should watch the alternate ending.
I read somewhere that the actress that played Adrian declined to be in the movie so Stallone had no choice other than to have the Adrian passed away.
Your too young to understand. When you get older you start to feel like the best part of your life is behind you and you want to relive some of those times. This is showing he wanted feel like he did when he was happiest. It wasnt about winning, it was about doing what he loved doing.
Under-rated comment!!!! Hope she sees this! So true.
Yess.frank also sang in the end of rambo2..he also a talent
For me this movie its about time goes by doesnt matter if you are ready or not just like Mickie said on Rocky 5 about geting old and keep loosing and loosing
ROCKY RUNS UP THE STAIRS ONE LAST TIME WITH THE DOG HE SAVED FROM THE POUND. SYMBOLISM ---> THE GREAT UNDERDOG STORY!!!
Great stuff so much emotion. As mentioned below you have to see the deleted scene with Paulie. It's very powerful and shows another side of Paulie.
