  • Showing how I hoisted my 90hp Johnson Outboard boat motor to install on my boat by myself using a come along. I recommend an engine hoist aka cherry picker if you can get one. It would be much easier and you wouldn't have to move the boat. The Johnson, Evinrude, OMC motors take 5/16th fine pitch bolts to attach a hook too. Chains also work.

    THanks for the video, I bought a boat with 90 Yamaha and putting on a 70 Johnson and didn't know where to start. Like your idea of pallet with wheels, great idea. You've saved me a lot of trial and error. Thanks again.

    A chain hoist from Harbor Freight would've done the job also.

    Outstanding! I have a brand new Mercury 90hp engine that is sitting in the box and I cant install it because I could not find a flywheel puller. I'm taking off to Harbor Freight to see if I can find one like yours. Otherwise, I'm going to have to figure out a different way to lift that 359lbs. Thanks for the video.

      What size bolts did you end up using for your mercury? Did it work?

      Chase Thomas I used the same HB puller on my merc 150, worked great. It came with the right bolts $12!

      The HF puller comes with bolts that work.

    If i decide to replace my mercury 50hp with bigger motor, do i need to replace all wires for shifting or can old ones still be used?

    • @SolarBurrito
      @SolarBurrito 7 лет назад

      If you keep the same brand (mercury) you can usually use your old control cables and control wires. Unless your old one is ancient.
