    I will be doing this in a few day. Fingers crossed. 96 Force 50hp coming off 2005 Mercury 75hp going in. Boat tracker deep V 17 the wiring is iffy at best. Going to make it useable this year. 2025 total rebuild foam , wiring, add kicker. Deck lights. Thank you

      @Everydayfishing I think my boat was made on bring your kid to work day. Got to the 2 part foam dept and Bill Sr had to go take a dump. OK Jr see you mix this stuff then you pour it here and here not there there and for sure not there. Got to the next dept. Face palm just cover it. I have to gut it. This just got real ugly. But must press on.

    You done an excellent job on the boat. How does the controls work after a year are you satisfied with them? I'm getting ready to buy a set for my Mercury on my pontoon rebuild and wanted to make sure they are worth buying.

    FYI, I just installed the same throttle control and the trim stopped working for me too a day or 2 later. Thanks for sharing that part. Replacement relays did the job. Thank you!
    Anymore problems with the relays since then? I'll probably keep a couple extra on the boat just in case

    Brilliant video I've got a brand new side mount unit but for some reason when I push forward after its selected gear the throttle arm dosnt move at all so not sure if something has come lose on mine

      Is the cable itself not moving or the mechanism inside the control box? You should be able to take the side off like in the video and see which part isn't moving like it should.

    Hey man I’m thinking about do this to my 16 ft Dixie but I’m terrified when looking for the parts. There’s sooo much out there. What parts did u use? And how has the throttle control been working for you? I noticed you jiggle it around a little when getting it close to neutral.

      Each manufacturer has a specific type of connector so just be sure you buy controls made to be compatible with your outboard manufacturer and you should be good

      I found that ebay has the most choices when it comes to stuff like that. Here are the ones I bought - they were 13 feet.

    when you go and order the steering cable from the website it has various lengths, 13ft, 14ft, 15ft etc. is that the cable length measured from the motor, around the sides of the boat and in towards the console? what happens if it is too long

      Yes you should take a string or flexible tape and measure the path your steering cable will take, then round up to the nearest measurement. They are pretty rigid, so too much extra would be tough to manage.

      I'm honestly not sure - I've never worked on an inboard motor. If it has a shifter cable and a throttle cable, then I'm guessing it would be the same!

    Did you have to wire the ignition separate from the wiring harness from the control box or should it work after the harness is plugged in?

      This Mercury outboard only had the one wire harness so there was nothing else to connect. The ignition was included in the wire harness you saw me connect

    Hi there! Did you need to replace anything on the outboard so that the throttle and shift cables would operate properly with the remote rather than the tiller control?

      Unfortunately I don't have any experience with converting from tiller to remote controls. I'd recommend tracing the tiller throttle and shifter and seeing if those points match those in my video - go from there.

    Do I need a specific throttle cable for 1990 25 hp mercury? The shifter cable is doing exactly what it needs to do, but my throttle cable will only pull, when I need it to push. Do I need to do something to the throttle cable so that it will push?

      As far as I know the throttle cables should be universal… maybe it’s hooked up to the wrong side of the throttle control box?

    Those relays will go bad when they arent used for a long period of and then used again. Idk but ive ran into a couple of times. Theyll work then pop. 🤷‍♂️

    Should the fire extinguisher be mounted at a different angle to prevent the powder from packing into a dense cake from all the bouncing up and down on waves, etc?

      Hmm I’m honestly not sure. If that was possible, wouldn’t that happen at the lowest point no matter which angle it’s mounted?

      @@Everydayfishing True, but if it's compacted horizontally you have a better chance of shaking it all loose. It's probably a good idea to shake them once in awhile anyway. I would check with the Coast Guard or the Coast Guard Auxiliary to see what they recommend.

    On my Mercury 75 horse four stroke outboard, I hooked up the battery and switched the negative and posaTive cables and blew something electrical. Any idea what I need to do to fix it? I have no start and no trim. Nothing electronic works. Blown fuse? Blown relay?

      They are identical! Doesn't matter which cable goes to where, as long as you connect the shifter control to the shifter, and throttle control to the throttle.

    Not sure if you know but does your boat have a rotary steering system or hydraulic. I have the old pulley cable type on my old Mirrocraft and i’m thinking next year when i get a 4storke of changing it

      Yeah this boat is just mechanical steering - no hydraulics. It works fine for me, it’s not hard to turn or anything. But you might want hydraulic if you get a motor bigger than 40hp

      That part actually came with the boat when I bought it. It’s just a piece of aluminum with bends in it though. I’m sure it wouldn’t be tough to fabricate something

    I have a 1995 mercury 135 outboard engine, with a quicksilver gearbox. Fir some reason my gearbox is not receiving power. Gimme some trouble shooting tips.

    Gas powered or Electric ?? How did you get it to start up?

      It’s gas powered! Once you connect the wiring harness, you can just turn the key

      I’m not familiar with that model outboard but as long as you can identify where the shifter cable and throttle cable attach on the motor, you can definitely install a control box like this one!

    You skipped a part I was really trying to hope to see. How did you connect your throttle power cables to your battery but also have all the fuze box and what not off it. The battery must be loaded

      So there’s only 2 wires connected on each of the battery terminals. One set goes to the outboard, the other goes to the fuse panel. All electrics are then powered by the fuse panel. The only wire for the throttle controls is that thick one that plugs into the wire harness from the outboard. No power directly needed from battery to controls.

    I’m trying to put this on my boat but the throttle up lever is not working it’s not pulling the cable I replaced both cables and nothing changed

      Are you using a new throttle control box? Does the lever and throttle move the mechanism when the cables are not attached?

      @@Everydayfishing yes it’s a new box and yes it moves fine without the cables on and it also moves fine with just the shifting cable on only when I put the throttle one on

    I think you should have put Force decals on that motor and not Mercury. You could get them custom made

      It will work, as long as you have the controls to do it.

    Does your make any starting sound, with the buzzer? I didnt hear any?
    Mine doesn't when i start it - but i'm unusure if it's supposed to or not.

      No it doesn’t make an alarm or buzzing sound when you turn the key. I’m honestly not sure if it’s supposed to but I’m assuming this model just doesn’t have that feature
