Fish here this summer!
Просмотров 1426 месяцев назад
Today we're on Lake Tillery doing some summer time fishing. We found out early on that most of the better quality fish were roaming the grass lines feeding and they were easy to catch with a t-rig work, but I bet they would have bit almost anything! It turned out to be a fun day with lots of smaller fish caught after the morning bite died down.

How to Install Boat Seats and Steering Console - Ep. 5
What is the exact network cable number? I can't find this information anywhere thx
Just google Garmin Network Cable - lots of options for purchasing: www.basspro.com/shop/en/garmin-marine-network-cable
Thanks for this video, super helpful
What console are you using
That console was original to the boat… I just cleaned it up
Very cool.
Question could you do this whole process of steering and throttle with any size outboard, like a 5, 9.9, 15 or 25?
Yes sir! Any outboard that uses a throttle control box like this one should operate very similarly
@ thank you
Nice job man! Do you ever wish you had gone with a tandem trailer?
Honestly not really - but I don’t travel far distances. Usually an hour or less to the lakes in my area…. Never had any trouble with my trail so far, knock on wood 😂
Hello like your channel. Here at Lake of the Ozarks there are a lot of gas docks that sell gas that is treated with a product named Valvetech. According to the dealer you don't have to add any stabilizer. I have a BassCat with a Yamaha on it and Yamaha recommends using Ring Free additive, but that's all I add. I slip my boat all winter and have had no issues so far.
That’s awesome!
What about the battery cables, where do they connect? Fuel line just a quick connect I am guessing?
Yep - fuel is a quick connect. Battery connections you can see in my video on batteries and wiring!
Great video, thanks
Lots of talk and nothing showing how you did things. Waste of my time.
I showed pretty much everything... what else did you need to see? I can do my best to help if you let me know
Question? There are two holes on the arms. I noticed you attached to the bottom hole versus the one above? Does it make a difference? I put mine on the first hole because it was attached that way when I replaced the box but my cables aren’t engaging smoothly?
On my control assembly, the bottom of the arm has a peg that is used to attach. It seems to be lined up better than if they were attached higher up. Maybe swap yours and see if it helps?
@ I did and it was better! Another question? Did your throttle arm have cotter pins attaching it? I took the old cables off and pulled two cotter pins off the original throttle arm, one on top and one on the bottom. Now I’m trying to put the new one back in and I see the hole for the one on top but I don’t see the hole for one on the bottom. It’s possible I didn’t need to take the one off the bottom, but it didn’t seem to want to release until I did that.
@@Debidawg No this control box didn't have cotter pins - the cable ends attached to the arm with a bracket and a screw - you can see it at @10:50 of the video
🎉🎉🎉👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼great job!
How to connect Mercury SmartCraft Connect Mobile Module, 98-8M0173128 I can not get LED diodes on module when turn on power on key. Thank a lot
Good Luck and God Bless you all 🙌🙏
Great
I would throw in a deep diving crank
Spinner jig and all else fails drop shot
Just bought a pair of Fantail Pros, got them yesterday, I love them. I came from the original Fantails that I had worn for 7 years, not a scratch on the lens! Best sunglasses out there.
Totally agree! Expensive but I pay it because it’s absolutely worth it
@@Everydayfishing 100%, worth every penny.
I am getting a hot foot installed in my Nitro Z18 soon . You said In a video that it took awhile to get used too . What did you have to get used to ? How was launching and loading ? Did you get the turn signal trim on the steering wheel as well ? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Love the hotfoot! Great upgrade. I did also do the turn signal trim - lets you keep your hands on the wheel the whole time you’re driving. There really wasn’t any learning curve or anything to get used to - the hotfoot is super easy. Feels like driving your car. You’ll Iove it!
@@Everydayfishing did you get a jack plate ? My boat seems to plane out pretty good without one ! I was told the transom warranty was void with a jack plate . I rarely drive over 45 and don’t fish shallow that much .
@@MrFishhook I did not get a jackplate - I agree, don’t need it for performance, but I’d eventually like one to mount power poles on
@@Everydayfishing even in Florida I look for the deepest water and use spot-lock a ton ! If I go real shallow I have an eight foot anchor pole. I don’t bed fish ( just my preference) . Thanks for responding!
Very helpful thank you VM
Just so u know for future wiring jobs, They do make step down butt splices too😁
I definitely needed some of those! I’ll have to find some to keep on hand
Hench transom saver, love it.Best instructional video I've seen.I have used u tube to replace my impellor, solonoids on my mercury, reset my gps when it froze up.will be following you 4 sure.thanks
Glad you found it helpful!
Do you have a public email ?
Where did you mount the transducer For the Garmin ? Was it a GT 54 transducer?
I didn’t use the Garmin transducer that came with my unit. It’s just dedicated LiveScope. The Ghost transducer is connected to my Lowrance unit.
@@Everydayfishing Wow , Garmin said I had to install the transducer GT 54 it came with for the unit to work with live scope lol….They said it needed both to work ! I must have got a bad tech ! Because I asked the same question. ( could I run just a live scope transducer and they said no lol….. I have the echomap ultra 126 sv ! I will call them back tomorrow! Thanks man !
Yeah mine works just fine running only the LiveScope! Not sure why they’d tell you otherwise… I just sold my gt54 transducer, haha
@@Everydayfishing what mount did you use for the mounting of your transducer to the TM shaft ? Thanks for your responses BTW Paul
@@MrFishhook I have it mounted with the perspective mount that came with the unit. You can rotate it to be in forward, down or perspective mode.
How do you run your spot lock ! Having transducer cable directly on your trolling motor shaft? Don’t you have potential to break your cable ? Most I’ve seen have a pole attached to trolling motor shaft that runs independently.
You just have to leave enough slack in your transducer cable - a small loop is usually enough. I just tested it by deploying the trolling motor in the garage and spinning it full rotation
Do you run your Trolling motor on 24 volts or 36 volts . And what is your battery set up ! If you run 24 are you happy with it ? Enough thrust ? Lithium or lead acid on TM and What starting battery do you use ? Thanks for info
@@MrFishhook it's 24 volt system - lead acid old school batteries. Never had a problem running the trolling motor for 8-10 hours all day. My starting battery is a group 31 lead acid. Also no issues running 3 graphs and lvs34 all day!
@@Everydayfishing I think we have the same boat and set up ! I have a Nitro Z-18 with the same batteries, I want to upgrade trolling motor Batteries to lithium. Not sure about 24 volts or 36 volts . Will probably run 2 12 volts to get 24 volts. 98 thrust seems enough! Thought about adding a third lead acid battery just to see how 36 volts runs compared to 24 volts . It would be a 200 dollars experiment to see the difference before going to lithium lol…. I can always put the lead acids in my small bass boat ( Sun Dolphin )
Question: How are your Garmin transducers set up ? If your Garmins live scope transducer is on your ghost trolling motor where is the transducer the unit came with mounted ? Sorry for all the questions, but trying to rig my boat this week. Thanks Paul
I put my fuse for my Garmin 126 sv coming out of my perko on/off switch . I will eventually make a double pigtail out of the perko to supply power to a live scope box . It will have its own fuse as well ! I like having the fuses in the back for easy access.
I have no words May God bless you bro
That’s a nice boat
I bought a new 2018 z18 in 2018 from foothills also for $33k OTD. I can't believe how much they have gone up. To me, the pro package seems like a waste of money. If you can afford to, pay cash for all of your add ons, gradually build instead of paying interest on it on the loan.
Yeah great point for sure - anything to keep that loan lower! Prices are definitely nuts
Just installed, reading all zeros on maintenance. Will it stay like this until the first time I run it or did I mess something up?
The maintenance section is for you to log maintenance you’ve done… it won’t know anything done prior to your install
Can I use the vessel view to read hours that are already on the outboard. Say if I’m looking at buying a used boat without and hour meter?
@@jamesdeliseo269 Yes! mine read the hours already on my outboard before it was installed.
Thanks for the update. I've watched your video of when you got the boat at least 10 times. I plan on buying a nitro in about a year. Overall seems like a great boat.
Awesome man! You’ll love it
Would really like to know how you added the storage between the seats.😊
That middle box is an option from the factory. I ordered it that way through my dealer!
Where did you get the throttle cable and gear cable
I found them on eBay - just do a search for “control cables for” your brand outboard.
Awesome job on the completion young man!
Thanks for following along!
Hope you used stainless steel staples or the regular ones will rust and come apart and so will the carpeting. Don't ask me how I know! That moving carpet should have been more comfortable under your knees not your toes. So far this is turning out really nice! BTW I thought you said you were going to raise the front to make a platform.
Do you have a link off this throttle control set up? I’m fixing to be replacing mine with a new one
Yeah this is the one I bought - good luck! a.co/d/1oAY1E2
Dope
Thank you for the video showing how you ran your harness. I too have the Mercury 150 and wasn't sure of the best place to mount it. Good job!
Glad it was helpful!
The gl 10 box has an Earth ground Symbol on the back not a negative to the battery this is to prevent RF interference, yes your battery negative is grounded to the motor, and the motor is grounded in the water, but when you ground to negative on battery the RF and blue tooth signal can travel through all the units connected to the battery if you have interference. You need to ground the gl 10 to a water ground some boats have a ground in the hull some have a metal plate under the dash. VHF hi-power radios must have water ground it would mess up your electrical system. I talked to Garmin Tech about this on the phone. If you have a problem water ground!
I wouldn’t say it’s a good idea to have your engine running with throttle on the muffs. I could be wrong that’s just what I’ve been told. Very helpful video tho you helped me so I’m trying to help you lol. I guess it burns up the water pump or the engine or something I can’t remember
Yeah I wouldn’t recommend running it long… but as long as you are getting enough water in to cool it and you can see a strong discharge, it’s probably safe for short term
It looked like the seat pedestal screws were pretty small for long term durability. Now 2 years later how are they holding up?
So far so good! No problems… but it’s not like I’m out on Lake Erie either. I’m sure they aren’t made for big big water
would the live well valve not be under warranty?
Yeah most likely - but the inconvenience of taking the boat to the dealer and having them keep it for weeks just hasn’t been worth it to me.
This Is the build I want and need for the river here it's perfect 👌

I subscribed. Put a mushroom screw bolt then a washer on both sides the a lock nut on every😅 thingbwill eliminate that problem I would put a lid lock on cooler with lids. Put some e6000 and a small hose lock or zipties
Hey man I’m thinking about do this to my 16 ft Dixie but I’m terrified when looking for the parts. There’s sooo much out there. What parts did u use? And how has the throttle control been working for you? I noticed you jiggle it around a little when getting it close to neutral.
I found this on Amazon - just be sure to search for one that matches the brand of your outboard. Usually the product descriptions are pretty accurate. Don’t worry too much and give it a shot! Trust me it’s daunting at first but it gets easier once you dive in. I’ve been happy with this one - a.co/d/cgKeRa0
so the first 3 mins of the video is you busting a non nitro product. Yea, bad way to start a Nitro review.
Well Nitro boats come with a Ghost trolling motor… I figured people would want to hear my experience with it. Wouldn’t be very genuine if I skipped that part!
@Everydayfishing no they actually don't. It depends on the dealer. Most cone with ultrex motors. But since you know it all I'll let you win
@zacharybrown624 the Ghost is the default motor since 2022 unless you specify - check the Nitro website. No sense getting upset about it though - sorry that ruined the review for you
If you can buy the carb of a 50HP Force, it will swap right over and you will get a bit more top end speed
That’s a great idea!
I rebuilt a bass tracker. I added an electric winch…that is a great addition with sitting way at the back….though we do a lot of cat fishing with a 9y old…..he can’t do the anchor without a button
Looks great. I have the same motor….I sure like how easy it is to work on. Not sure i would want to buy something newer and more difficult to work on
I was surprised how easy it is… this was my first time working on one. I’d definitely buy another!
