I would like to see a video on how to make the eyes too please. I watch RUclips Wednesday videos with my 2 yr old son, and he now recognizes you as "go makes stuff man."
20 minutes so full of information, tips and techniques! That is why we are so very happy to be Patreons and give back something to you! thank you thank you thank you!
I have a latex Hollow heart, unfortunately it's falling apart there are lights inside of it and so the material is semi-translucent . There are quite a few cracks, so should I be using the paper towels with contact cement, or should I use contact cement with some other material being I want to still have it translucent
I repair dolls and the antique latex ones are still around. Your technique is similar to mine and very informative. Instead of contact cement I use latex mixed with acrylic and fabric instead of paper towel. Thanks For new ideas.
I recently threw away a werewolf mask that I loved and had for a very long time that this technique would have saved. Kicking myself right now... 🤦🏼 Thanks for sharing these priceless techniques with us!!
Definitely interested in the eye video, pretty please. Thanks muchly for other ideas about repairing one of my oldest props, probably about 15 years old and I love it.
I love your work, you have a very efficient, professional work style, and a really relaxed and informative presentation style. I like the idea of using parts from other masks to create a new look. I like the zombie repair you did too. I'm wondering if it might be possible to do something like you couch foam pumpkin or the eva diver's helmet, and then add latex mask features using the tissue and contact cement technique?
Thank you for the great info! I’m headed to dig out my ghoul, whose forehead is pealing, so I can see what colors of paint to order from you. I’m hoping this technique is good for outside decorations as well. *Would you please show/tell me how to make the eyes? Thank you!!
How do you restore latex masks that have been exposed to the elements and are drying out and getting stiff. I have soaked it in a bucket of water for hours. Are they lost or is there a technique to bring back the elasticity to the latex and revive the mask? Or just spend the money and get a new one.
Stilbeats studio is there a way to fix a laxtex mask that has lost its shape? I stuffed it with paper towels and its super stretched out in the eyes and other parts , i didn't realize it till yesterday when i was going to use it . The mask is sentimental to me, any information would be gladly appreciated. I tried a hair dryer but, couldn't get it to work.
I know you have an older video for a fake blood tutorial. I was wondering if you could do an updated one that shows a waterproof version. I don't know if there's a way, but if so, I'm sure you'd be the man to ask. Thanks.
@@StiltbeastStudios can you please elaborate as to what brand 5 minute epoxy and red dye? I wanna try making this for my mask and perma blood seems to be back ordered. Thanks.
I recently bought a used distortions animatronic in rough shape. The neck has experienced quite a bit of latex deterioration. Any tips on how to fix this?
Hi! What paint should I use to spruce up an old latex prop? I heard that I could use oil based spray paint but I am not sure. I don't want to damage it. It's an alien prop from 2014.
dont use spray paint- if it needs to flex (most latex does) then you can add latex to acrylic paint. that will dry with flex. the formula I use is 1/3 casting latex/1/3 distilled water/ and 1/3 indoor flat latex house paint.
Shop towels... Huh... And I thought they were just good at cleaning up the shop. A while back I bought a whole bunch at Costco... but I'll never look at the humble shop towel the same anymore. What else can you make with them... I wonder... Texture on pool noodles?
RD-407 is a formulation sold by monster makers in Ohio. I normally buy from Bity mold supply, Fright-Props, or Black lagoon for five gallon buckets of casting latex. in my experience RD-407 in not the penultimate latex that some claim, but we all work differently so its not my favorite- but lots of people say its their favorite.
Hey Allen! Any good advice on repairing the more common man masks you might buy at Party City or Halloween Party Centers that are plain laytex but punished by hot/cold extremes? Spent lots of $$$ on a clearance sale and have dozens of treasures that unfortunately didn't hold up to our NorthEast extreme temperatures in our attic.
I have 2 latex mask and I wanted to cut the ears off one and put them on a other Is that possible to do ...and how would I go about doing that to make The ears stay ?
great question. Because I was torn on the purity of the video. I was doing a video on repairing a prop- but adding the ears was altering the prop (which is what I needed). Hopefully both aspects came across. Also I didnt want a bandaid over damaged latex so making the full repair then adding the ears seemed like the right thing to do.
@@StiltbeastStudios I thought the video was great it was incredibly informative and has encouraged me to attempt to repair one at my haunt so thank you
masking tape on the inside and then you can just fill the hole with latex from the front and the remove the tape when it dries. then touch up the paint
Thanks for sharing your tips ! I know you worked hard to find those and I’m grateful that you share them with us. I’m using the 3 parts paint for my Batman armor. However, I would like to keep the shine of if I kinda lose it when I touch it. What would you recommend to seal my paint after application ?

LOL Joking of course, idk how much you'd charge, but im good for it. if you make it look as cool as this, and able to hang on my Wall... we could talk for sure. let me know maybe we could talk in private if you're willing to make me one? or just sell me the raw latex casting, hell. i wouldn't mind painting my own lol.
This is not a restoration technique for collectibles. This technique is for working props that you want to get five more years out of. so if its a working mask then yes this will work.
no. My sources were found through googling and the choices that each vendor makes is a huge component to their brand. just goole a few, buy a few samples and find ones that are right for you and what you are making. I dont have acces to anything that you dont and I want to see your brand decisions.
Also, Im paying more than I should for my bottles, but I wanted the super clear polycarbonate as oppposed to other plastics. I can help you with your decisions if you like, but I dont think I should tell you exactly where I landed on my decisions.

just moisture and cover with a plastic bag. also really thin things I will wait and do them last, like teeth and ear tips.
