  • Showing you weathering techniques you can use for your Halloween props or things you want to make look more realistic. This video shows you step by step how to weather or age a PVC skeleton named "B0nour" using only things i had lying around. To make your weathering effects resistant against real weather i suggest to lay on a coat of clear coat at the end.
Generally when it comes to plastic skeletons i would say the more the better, so when it comes to weathering you can go crazy with it.
Artificial ageing and weathering techniques are commonly used in the entertainment industry such as Film, TV, Theater or Theme Parks. There are hundreds of Tips N`Tricks of how to give different materials a certain aged and old look. There is no recipe how to age something. Personally i suggest to carefully observe objects that where exposed to weather over a long time. I try to identify colors, marks and rust before choosing the technique i will use.
Things i used for this project:
    brown wood stain (aged Bourbon)
    black acrylic paint
    brown acrylic paint
    light green acrylic paint
    sandpaper
    brush
    pieces of cotton cloth
    water
    blow torch
clean wrap foil (stuff you wrap cheese in)
graphite powder (to be found as dry lubricant or in a pencil)
    old t-shirt
    water spray bottle
    I hope you enjoy!

All the other videos I've seen on corpsing/aging use a heat gun on the plastic wrap, and it takes *forever.* That torch really got the job done quickly! Good video, thank you for posting.

Why do you not like gel stain on your skeletons?

How would suggest to seal this up, if you wanted to leave it outside? 303 maybe? Cheers!

I literally did not sealed it at all. Its been hanging outdoors since over two years now and besides some scratches it semms to be holding up pretty well. However you could add some layers of clear coat spray to make it more durable.

@@MancaveEffects great to hear! I think I’m going to do this on my new 12ft Home Depot skeleton! Will be work, but I think worth it!

  • @LeafMonkey59

Would you recommend gel, oil or water based stains?

    • @MancaveEffects
      @MancaveEffects  2 года назад +1

I would not use gel. Most of the time i use waterbased acryllics for my weathering effects.

@@MancaveEffects does the water based acrylic also apply to the stain? I have a water based and an oil based deck stain and dont want to use the wrong one on my 12ft skeleton
