  • 06+ zx10r gear position sensor
    ball bearing
    All the other parts are factory 04-05 zx10r parts............aka button with a spring
    Shift drum was factory 04-05 zx10r, I was using it as an example, you don't need to remove your factory shift drum.

    I used vaseline to keep the ball in place. Gear indicator is now working perfect! Thanks!

    What problems were you experiencing with the sensor? Asking because my 04' zx is bucking like an idiot under load in 2nd gear, and its not mechanical, dropped the pan and everything is in pristine condition..

      It was sending faulty info to the ecu, and i run boost by gear controller.

    Does this need to be done in order to run your gen 3 harness and cluster on a gen 1?

    I am trying to finish my 05' ZX10 and the bike will turn over but will not start due to it not sending fuel even with a new fuel pump, battery etc...because it is throwing Code 23 for the Cam Position Sensor and I've tried 3 different sensors and 2 different ECUs. Some where along the way I noticed that it kicks out of Neutral on the gauges sometimes unless I push down or up on the shifter to get it back in neutral "without actually shifting a single gear". This bike was a drag bike and I'm trying to turn it into a street bike again. I just started pulling the Gear Shift indicator and found your video...so I would Greatly appreciate Any help with this issue as it has me completely stumped!!!

      @@everydayirace THe guy that I purchased the bike from...his Mechanic died amidst the rebuild and he couldn't figure it out. He didn't know how to Check/Ohm anything so. I'm trying to figure it out STILL!!! Sorry that it took for a response but I never got a notification. Today tho me and a friend were going over Ever Wire and found on Joint Connector 4if you wiggle or turn the connector hard it loses all 12v to a Red wire checked prongs etc and believe that I fixed that Issue. However when I pulled Ignition/Crank Rotor cover I discovered that one tooth is broken off. I'm assuming that they were "possibly re-using" the old rotor. So, I'm going to replace that first and see as I know now that it isn't going to read correct timing like that...However ANY knowledge that you have would be Greaaatly Appreciated man! Sorry about the novel. All wires ohm out fine and etc but I'll check my stator out next as the battery just won't stay charged and the bike turns over Slowly. .5v @ coils?? Thanks again

      @@everydayirace I have a UK gen 1 zx10r, are the colours of the 3 wires the same? Is the plug a different shape on the 06? I was wondering if you could pop out the pins in the plug and refit them or are they totally different. Which model 06 is there a number for it like the C1 for the 04?
      Thanks in advance

      @@madbadger85 I don't know what the color of wires on UK bikes since I don't live in UK, but you can look up wire colors in a service manual. The connectors are different between 04-05 zx10r and 06+ zx10r. If you don't want to cut the connector, 06+ zx14 bikes here in the states have gps sensors that have the same connectors as 04-05 zx10r. We don't use c1 here, we call bikes by year/make/model, so 04 zx10r is called 2004 Kawasaki zx10r and 06 zx10r is called 2006 Kawasaki zx10r.

    Couldnt you just strip the ground wire for the original sensor and create an extra ground to the engine block?

    • @everydayirace
      @everydayirace  3 года назад

      Shift drum connected to the engine with bearings, when shift drum rotates, it loses connection with the engine, that's why the sensor needs to be grounded to the shift drum, just like 06+ zx10r.
