t1m it’s a dealer scam ! Oohh it’s homage it’s rare ! ... eh they made zillions of them and i can buy regular and change wheels and wing!! Hay the GT3 real race car cost less than that 😂😂
I spotted one in a Melbourne (Australian) street when I was there visiting back in 2011, fell in love instantly, still have the photos on my phone, just gorgeous, perfect blend of old skool and modern. Porsche well and truly hit the nail on the head.
I've always liked the Sport Classic. Best modern 911 in my opinion along with the 911r and GT3 Touring. Looks brilliant. Nice video as usual. And really good to see you entertaining us while we have to sit at home and do basicly nothing. Keep up the great work.
Appreciate the kind words. Tough to create content at the moment but trying my best. I agree, Sport Classic looks fantastic. I'm a fan of a 'relatively' low key looking Porsche
@@seenthroughglass yeah i can understand that creating content now is quite hard. So i do really appreciate these videos. Norway has been in lockdown for a week noe and getting quite boring to sit at home. Yeah i am not a huge Porsche guy. But i do like the low key and the 911 even 997 and 991 looks good with a ducktail. Favorite 911 is the 993 though.
Here in America, we didn't get this. We got the Speedster. That 997.2 special cars were really just exclusive options list drop. just everything in leather and bespoke colors and basic 3.8L engine with a power pack option. The Speedster I saw was $205k! when new. Just didn't understand why everyone just didn't buy the 997 GTS, same thing and half the price. Those were so much fun to drive.
997 is probably the best modern 911... The car that got me addicted to the brand. Love the Sport Classic & love the Speedster! Amazing to see some content with one of these! Cheers from Puerto Rico, Sam!
I watched this video when you first brought it out over a year ago, and I watch it occasionally like today. It has been my favorite car since it came out eleven years ago. If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I will endeavour to buy as my daily driver will be one of these 250 997 Sport Classics. I have pictures of it up on my board of cars on the wall of what I would get, if I ever became super wealthy...
@@seenthroughglass yeah a bit pricey but now that you know Magnus... maaaayyybe it would be a bit less pricey hahaha🙌 it would look mega!!! 😍 looking forward to see them on your car!
Yeah the ducktail is awesome. They couldn’t offer it on 991.2 cars because of the turbos. Apparently there was a cooling issue. You can get a small flick on the sport design kit but it’s not the same. Great video Sam!
I somehow entirely missed the (yes already subtle) stripes until you pointed it out; the second you mentioned it it’s as if the paint was jumping out at me. Interesting how the mind processes all things optical! -Superb video thank you for taking us around this rarified gem!!
Lovely looking thing, and you're right the 997 does drive really well. You mention though that people are 'paying' £300k for it, but are they? All the ones that i've been seeing on the market haven't been moving (My job used to involve watching the Porsche market). What are the chances of them being on Sale or Return at an over inflated price. I love the Sport Classic, as a package it's amazing. The powerkit on it's own was £10k if i remember rightly, the wheels (you can still buy from Porsche as a 19" for the 997 - or could last year) and the other touches make it unique. But, £300k for a £170k car - you're paying for the exclusivity.
I loved the look of this car so much I bought the Fuchs alloys for my 997.2 S one month after buying the car 5 yrs ago. It’s up for sale now for £41,000 with 50K miles and a full Porsche service history
Thanks Sam, great vid. I have a 997.2 C4S and I love it. I wouldn't swap it for any of the newer generations. My only issue with the Sport Classic is the stock motor. I would personally buy a 997.2 GT3 with the Metzger engine for a whole lot less $$$. Keep up the 997 vids please...
I will have to agree with your statement about the car not beeping special mechanically. I was fortunate enough to own a 997 Speedster, sensually its topless twin. Yes, exclusive knocked it out of the park with these 2 cars, however, the driving characteristics left me wanting more.
Totally agree, great car, but not £300K great, if it had the Mezger it would of made more sense. I have a manual 997.2 Carrera on the sport chassis with PCCB's, factory short shift, PSE, no sunroof, adaptive sport seats etc, absolutely love it and it was £270K cheaper! Welcome to come for a drive Sam!

They had one at Porsche Monterey Ca. about 8 months ago. I looked at in person. What a beautiful car. The one i saw was the same color. Truly worth every penny. They wanted 500k american dollars.
What a car, why don't Porsche make special cars for the masses instead of making 'standard cars' for Mass production. Can't every car be special. Great video Sam, love your stuff👏
Always said ever since they came out I’d have one if ever I won the lotto, only problem is with only 250 in production it’s finding one that would be for sale, considering they’ve gone from 140k to 300k I’ve a feeling they’re only going to go up in value. Gorgeous car and such a nice homage with the 70s features. Everything from the exterior and interior styling to the 70s sounding exhaust, this car just screams retro.
This is the car that started the exclusive manufacture brand, they initially had no money for making a special edition so the first mule was a bodykit made from carton hoping the management would give them budget for creating the real car! So thats why there are no mechanic upgrades they had no money for it :D
@seenthroughglass another great Porsche video! You really do need to get yourself in some more 997.2s. Try a PDK with it’s backwards gear change buttons 😆😆 and its ‘kick in the back’ sport plus gear changes🙃
I could have bought a very low mileage example in 2010 ( I think it was) for £138,000 - It's the kind of car that appeals to real Porsche enthusiasts.. All the little ingredients add up to something very special.. With the 997.2 GT3 - 997.2 Sport classic and Cayman 987.2 R manual in my garage, I'd be in heaven.
Sport Classic is the best 997 since it first debuted. GORGEOUS and all around perfect. The 997 GTS is is non-famous brother and a bargain. Perfect size, power, performance, LOOKS and SOUND.
Sam, here in watford, there'ss a 991.1 with a ducktail... As much as it looks standard, on the rest of the body, but it stands out and i look at it differently! i agree and believe it is different but the price tag is hard to digest!
That one is particularly rare, as it’s one of only 17 Sport Classics built in right-hand drive for the UK. We can’t import any non-Federalized car into the USA until the car is at least 25 years old, so I’ve got time yet to save up for a 2010 Sport Classic.
Love manual 997 but sadly just sold it due to market uncertainties for a steal to someone. Will definitely buy another when things are back on track.....
You can get the fuch style wheels on the new models. Recently detailed a new carrera 4s in aventurine green with chrome trims and fuch style wheels. It was stunning.
You can still buy the Fuchs wheels, they produce them for new Porsches. Visit the channel from Nine Eleven Guy, he has them on his beautiful, british racing green 996.
Carrera-T in some way is reminiscent of the Sport Classic in that it was a base model Carrera mechanically-speaking but in proper spec (918 seats, rear seat delete, Gorilla glass, PCCB’s) it was and still is the most under reviewed and under-rated 991.2 produced.
Well made, informative video, thank you. Must say, yearning for some epic C4 content, you know the one, a replica rally car with duckpond in the back, rag it through Yorkshire towards our man Dean!

i'm so glad you mentioned the ROOF. Best part of a sport classic, same as 911R.
In my opinion the best looking special edition of the 911. I'm a big fan of it and really glad I've already seen 2 examples on the road!
Niklas Petrolhead so you like standard 911s..
love the sport classic, so cool but way to expensive, just get a 997, fuchs wheels and a ducktail :D

Jason Harris you can buy the rims 1200€ a piece, same as a bbs or something
I don't think video's do this car justice. When you see one in real life they look awsome. Which is funny because i hated it when it was released
