Bells of Great St Mary's, Cambridge (back 10).

- The closing couple of leads of a quarter peal of Grandsire Caters rung on the back 10 at Cambridge, University Church of Great St Mary on Saturday 11th February, 2023.
Arguably they are one of the best modern castings by Taylors; they go very well, acoustically they are very good, a good weight and overall are a joy to ring. They are slightly slower turning due to being hung to ring as a 12, rather than lower numbers, which made them feel somewhat heavier going.
A big tick off the list, especially with a majority young ringers band who at least 3 members have never rung with before. Hopefully next time a quarter / peal of maximus or Cinques can be attempted.
No belfry footage due to accessibility and the tower also being open for managed tours, though there are certainly plenty of other belfry videos of this tower...

Ringing on ten is just my favourite to ring and to listen to. Often the back ten of some very good twelves are completely forgotten about. These for example would be a ten that any tower would be really happy with.
I personally think that well struck 12 bell ringing is the most satisfying thing to listen to. Birmingham repeatedly produce this and I think it's something for us all to aspire to
12 bells cast by taylors eayre and smithtenor 24-1-1cwts in 2009 and a flat 6th
