The bells of St John the Baptist, Axbridge, Somerset

  • A superb heavy six cast by John Taylor and Co in 1925, Tenor 19-3-14 in Eb.
    This was the 1st tower on our Devon Ringers Tour to North Somerset and the City of Bristol.
    Ringers - Will Carew, Alban Forster, Andrew Phillips, Jenny Sparling, Tom Waterson, Ryan Trout (strapper - Owen Borlase)

    Wow. Imagine lying in the grass nearby on a sunny afternoon listening to these beautiful bells being rung so expertly. Heaven!

    What a magnificent sound peal.
    Taylors bells really took a quantum leap in sound when they adopted Simpson tuning.

    these bells are my favourite I have to big favourite bells and towers in Somerset here at Axbrigde and Chewton Mendip but there all heavy to ring tenor at Chewton Mendip is 24cwt in Eb that's an 8 bell tower

      Probably just my ringing! That and the 5th were a tad, they are still a bit of a challenge to ring well

      Yeah those bells do look oddstruck. You all rang well though, that raise was fantastic!

      @@RingerJake The tenor is not oddstruck at all. I set it up for true striking when I replaced the clapper. The others are slightly off however.
