1:10 uh son your line was "welcome to the team"
Grab a bat, punk!
Greatest sports movie ever made. I was a little league pitcher on the championship team in '76. I was 10yrs old. Greatest time of my life.
RIP Walter Matthau (October 1, 1920 - July 1, 2000), aged 79
And
RIP Vic Morrow (February 14, 1929 - July 23, 1982), aged 53
You both will be remembered as legends
To be honest, I didn't know I shared a birthday with Walter Matthau. Nice!
I just loved how Tanner didn't allow anyone to bully him, even though he was one of the physically smaller people on the team. As a kid repeating what he heard the adults say around him....that's what kids do....sometimes.
the scene where they say he fought "the sixth grade" was great.
Like a little Yosemite Sam! :)
1:07 yeah he's so sweet
@@raygordonteacheschess5501 😂....yeah, Tanner was such a sweetie....and all his teammates adored him😆😂
@@michaelminervini1908 It was the 7th grade.
They called Lupus "Reggie" and Tanner "Lupus". The quality control of the olden days...
Timmy Lupus, Tanner Boyle
@@chrispeak6707 I know that. I'm saying they managed to mix up the characters' names in the trailer...
@TyrannoJoris_Rex I know you know that was for the people that didn't, not very many people know Tanner's last name
Saw it 11 times in the theater - thanks to my parents taking us to see the movie every weekend - to the point my friends and I RECITED the whole movie verbatim! LOL!!
The best baseball movie of all time, I could watch this a thousand times and still laugh.
Me 2
Not just baseball but greatest kids sports movie ever.
Every bit as good as Rocky.
It would be canceled today or not even made.
My favorite line in this movie came at the end. Buttermaker took the trophy and said “Thank you, sir!” to that woman. The look on her face is priceless. ⚾️👍
agreed
@@jaredjdigirolamo7686 👍
me too lol
IT'S MA'AM!
Miss Cleavland was that lady's name. P.M
A movie so great that 2 bad sequels, a tv show that didn't last 1 season, and the most forgerrable of remakes could never tarnish.
The sequels were awesome and the remake was the last non P.C. movie to come out of Hollywood and stared Billy Bob Thornton.
I didn't think much of the sequels either although the Astrodome one wasn't too bad just not near as good as the 1st movie.
@@xoxmonkeyxoxentertainment8928 being non PC doesn't make it good. Whether it's PC or not there has to be quality there.
It was good non pc
Facts!
This is a classic baseball movie. I love the 70s! Back when times were real( no social media and no cell phones)
Ah yes. Losing the Vietnam War, Nixon helping establish China's now-globally dominant manufacturing sector, the Gulf Oil Crisis, Watergate, stagflation, Iran Hostage Crisis, DC-10s breaking up and going down. Great times
Let me add the Kent State Massacre to that list
I am so grateful to be a Gen X! This film is a true classic!
👍😁 Agreed!
At 1:10 I was shocked! They used to play this on Nickelodeon in the 90's. They must have muted it out.
😂😂😂😂
I've seen this movie 1000 times and never heard that.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@stanthebull Funny. I heard all that on H.B.O. reruns all the time.
I think you're thinking about the short lived TV series that the movie spawned. I definitely remember seeing that on Nickelodeon.
One of my favorite movies growing up. Can't wait to watch this again.
I was 12 and played little league when this came out so this movie is pretty special. All the cars, pinball machines and just how things were in general is better than today.
I remember seeing this when it came out. I fell in love with Tatum O'Neil. I was 8 years old. 😆
I remember seeing her in Paper Moon first but then I saw her in this and in Little Darlings but then I didn’t really see her until she was on Rescue Me and OMG she was hilarious on that series! There was a scene where she was on her cell phone talking to Denis Leary and she was at a magazine kiosk run by some Middle Eastern guy and she was looking through some magazine and the guy running the kiosk told her if she was going to read it she would have to buy it and she said, “Haven’t your people cost us enough already?” 😂
Same. I was about the same age too. My parents took us to see it at the Drive In. Walter was like every Little league coach I ever had, smelling of cigarettes'
and alcohol .
Cheryl Tiegs' SI cover blinded me toother women for years.
Haha same here. I was seven
We all did.
1:11 surprised that line tanner said wasn’t edited out.. but classic trailer overall!
I'm glad they didn't edit it. That was the reality in the mid 70s.
Yep....and if ya have to be an human interpreter, remeber, in america you're just a telephone receiver. And that is defined as ....verbatim....word for word. Old school telephones didn't have an edit button, or spellcheck.
I had to watch that about three times to see if he said what I thought he said.
Actually, Paramount did edit that out in later viewings of trailers.
@@King_Colombia_Inc Well Jesus Christ, I would hope so!
Even now, whenever I need to say 'it's bad news' in response to a random question, I still say, 'it's bad news, man. Bad News Bears!'
The most realistic movie about youth sports. Over competitive adults, snobbish league organizers, kids quitting because winning is more important than having fun.
So you guys just threw out hard R’s?? I don’t recall anyone using the n-word casually in my childhood and we started drinking at age 12. Truly curious. Back in your time, when did people stop referring black as n*****?
They still do just online now… This movie shouldn’t be taken too seriously
@@mattheweraci5502why are you even here, dude? 😂 you really shouldn't be here if you can't handle this movie
I played LL baseball back then and this is exactly how it was in the real 70s and 80s world of LL baseball.
I even tried to be like Kelly Leek lol. Except my LL team was called the Orioles, not the Bears 😅
"Grab a bat, punk!!" is gonna be a line I hope to use someday.
my uncle took me & my cousins to see this when it came out, when the cussing started he got way down in his seat (we were just kids)
That is exactly my experience. My dad took us all with about 8-10 cousins & young friends, I was 15, all the rest younger, and we just looked at each other like "holy crap" but most of the young kids, I think it just went over their heads.
The bears didn't win the championship, but they were happy to be in second place.
Must have been the greatest time to be a kid, the 70s and 80s
A memorable movie from my childhood.
I bet the story of how this film got a PG rating from the MPAA (now just MPA) is probably fantastic. The kind that gets you a free beer.
Everyone needs a Laugh right now! Miss Walter.😂😂😂
1:09 Worst Mistake of my Life... Should have listend to Peter
@@kbthegoat9 good advice from fat guy from New England.
Lmao I’m here from that too
1:09 Ya know………….. we don’t put lines like that in trailers anymore.
They don't put lines like that in movies anymore, much less the trailer.
1:09 WOOAAAH
I never realized he said that before.
WHAT DID HE SAYYYYYYY??
Great times..LOL
@@user-ri9sc2jy2c Exactly what you think he said. Times were different
He says it again in the scene where they break Buttermakers window 😆
i really loved this movie i was 10 when i saw it
Thanks for giving away the whole storyline.
Yeah but no. Got to see the movie.
Holy crap. Came here from Corrections. I thought, "this isn't so bad" until about 1:02. Eeeeep
Same, I mean just wow
Same! My god.
Same. Haha.
Me too.
LMAO. This generation is FAR TOO SENSITIVE
The voice-over guy got three of the Bears' names wrong/mixed up, now that is some BAD NEWS!
Damn, kinda like the person who commented on one of Ed Sheeran's videos about the 3 singers on Remember my name song
the trailer writing back then was so verbose and uninspired.
@@xpez9694 true, but these days the trailers are good & the whole uninspired, formulaic movie is just a mess of cgi
@@susanlvs I wouldn't say trailers are good at all. Now, they're just a bunch of random quick cuts with booming whooshing loud sound effects. Same crap for most movies.
It was not the narrator's fault. Blame the editors.
What a great movie!
1:10 That’s my reaction to Amanda Bynes in “She’s The Man”.
Despite being mentioned in the manga… Somehow this film has been spared the calamity of JoJo fans
Well.... I would but i didn't wanna be annoying 😅
I was looking for this comment lol
I don't need to watch it now that I saw the trailer which explained everything. What a great movie.
You would seriously skip a movie just because you saw the trailer? Are you ADHD or something?
Hardly.
*TANNER BOYLE best character ever, not even mentioned in the clip..*
1:02 I have just seen tgis on 9gag and I can't believe it is real. Amazing.
1:09 OMG!!! This was in the film’s trailer?!?!
@@bessiehillum6498based kid
Lmao
People commenting on what was said at 1:11 but yet those groups of people still participated in the movie, if those words offend you then I wouldn't recommend watching Boyz N the Hood or listening to rap music, anyways, why is no one commenting on the abuse the kids took on, if you're so offended by the words why not the actions, no matter what it is still a great movie
Its all about context and frankly I think most people understand this , but still want to argue for God only knows what reason.
blame the screen writer who wrote that in the movie.
Classic sports comedy of the 70s/80s era since Caddyshack with Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Michael O’Keefe & Rodney Dangerfield (RIP)
This movie is still relevant in 2022
I’ve seen this film so many times, I lost count. The Aguilera boys should have gotten more playing time.
This is our history.
1:09
BASED
Somehow I don't think the dialogue would make it today.
Tanner kick that dude right in the nads hahahaha 😂😂🤣😂
if you have come from the kinoplex, what you are looking for is at 1:09 .
Tanner was my hero lol
Rated PG for almost as many cuss words as The Exorcist.
Talk about telling the basic plot
Little Jackie Earl Hailey.
See, ladies and gentlemen, how in the trailer for a movie made in 1976 directed primarily at children that the "n-word" made it to the trailer. Forget that it made it to the movie, but it was actually used to advertise the film in the trailer. Just 45 years ago.
@@bessiehillum6498 Whoa Bessie! Hold on there, I think you're going the wrong way here. Don't forget, the Civil War ended nearly 160 years ago, and the South lost.
@@bessiehillum6498 Look, Bessie, I made a reference to how in a 40+ year old movie, they used the N-word, and you, very broadly said that we'll get it back. So perhaps be more specific in your language for future reference.
@@bessiehillum6498 Come now, child. Eything gonna be erie.

"J, S, N and now a G?"
Wow! They could say that in movies??
Like a champ!
Girl?
Yes and it was cuckin hilarious
Watch Blazing Saddles 😂
70’s were filterless just like the smokes.
A classic truly America's pastime
1:09 kings you're welcome.
Kids talk even worse than this now, so I guess this was pretty accurate back then.
My father coached his companies tee-ball team and every ball team my brothers played on from then to high school leagues. I played with them for a while but after puberty I lost interest in baseball ⚾️. Mostly because I didn’t want to play softball instead of baseball. This movie was awesome and my brothers and my dad could all relate to it. Now it brings back so many fond memories. The remake is great except for that raunchy touch that Billy Bob likes to add. Bad Santa was just too over the top.
1:10 did that little guy just say what is considered to get ya banned fom society today? 😂
This trailer is shown at the Baseball Hall of Fame mvie display
He spoiled the whole plot 😂
This trailer came out in the 70s, back then movie trailers we're not as important or as popular as they are today...
That was normal for the long form trailers in the 70s. Only TV spots MIGHT not give it all away. But they knew back then everybody knows what's going to happen in every movie, the question was, how they would tell it along the way. Better (barely) than now where they put stuff in trailers that was never going to be in the movie in the first place.
2021 Rules forever
Thanks.
No 70s rules
1:09 bro the 70s were wild
👍- Jennifer, Dylans' mom, Burton & son 😂🎉
1:10 lol
Phyllis T Anthony R.I.P.
regi tower? that's lupus! 0:27 and that's tanner! 0:35
Buttermaker had Reggie "no lines"Towers playing 3rd base problem is Teggie is left-handed
1:10 BRUUHHH lmfaoaoaoao
And they later went to Japan!
Oooooh the 70's. A simpler time. A time where you could put 1:10 in a movie and it be accepted.
Only back then, times are changing for better or the worst and maybe sometimes for the weirder...
Only seems simple in hindsight. A lot of social change already happened - especially in sexual liberation, and womens and minority rights. Traditional gender roles were still a thing for people over 40, if not 30. Plus, inflation, unemployment, oil embargo, really complicated things. Also, just 3 or 4 years before this movie, we left Vietnam. So no, the 1970s were anything but simple.
lol, my dear summer child
Simple for whom? That's a good question.
That's one the things that made '70's films so great. Their honesty.
I miss the movies made before the days of everyone is offended by everything.
Oddly enough... this movie is actually about those very people who are offended by everything today. Strange.
Oh you mean when there were actual stories in movies instead of pandering agendas? Yeah. Too bad the pandemic took away people's ability to teach through get woke go broke. Now Hollywood is going woke on steroids with no more guardrails.
Oh please lol. You spoke up about the bullshit of religion back then, people's feelings would get hurt and you'd be chastised. Hell, you'd get arrested for cussing. Ever heard of Don Wildmon?
The trailer gives the story away
One of my favorites, but they made a mistake in this, they labeled Tanner as Lupus. They also called Lupus, Reggie Towers(?)
I'm sorry, what did that little kid say about the racial demographics of the team?
He said an obvious joke, Karen
@@RoboBreaker Oh, you thought I seriously offended? Bless your heart.
Only came to watch this because it was mentioned on the Honeydew
Classic movie
1:07 Don't show this to Gen Z!
" _... Tatum O'Neal is his secret weapon._ "
Christy McNichol wanted the part, but they decided n-word kid's head would have exploded.
Good ole days , never be like it again
The UL:TIM ATE OG sports flick haha
Amanda is the only girl on the baseball team of that league.
Yep, and nobody really gave a crap. Tanner and one opposing player made like one crack each but overall she's just accepted, and no big deal is made out of her being the only girl. Kudos to the writers for not doing the usual Hollywood-cliches thng where all the players and coaches and parents are against her but through sheer pluck and talent and determination she wins them all over and wins the big game. Thank God this movie did not do any of that glurge at all. It's better off for it. Amanda is just badass and they all know it so she's accepted.
“You expect (insert overrated word here) and now a Girl?!”
Can’t get away with that in 2021.
Watched this bc of Late Night Corrections, and yeah... Seth was right lol
I’m sure this one will be canceled by the liberals because of the kid saying, “two spicks a N-word and now girl?” 🤦♀️ lol I wish people could just enjoy watching a good film and not cancel it. I am Hispanic, 70s baby, I loved this as a kid 🤗 was hilarious to watch!
Toreador en garde!
How come Tanner is referred to as Timmy Lupas by the voice over actor?
Weird.
This movie says more about sports building character than just about any other f;(5))ing movie ever made.
This was the last politically INcorrect movie, ever! The new version was cleaned up so bad, it was BORING!
0:49 "¿Qué es esto?".
"No sé"
Hah!
"Es un bandido"
That's Tanner at short, not Timmy Lupus! Sheesh!
Dontcha just hate it when everybody gets those blonde haired kids names confused?
Timmy Lupus mostly sat on the bench and didn't play
Did this trailer just show the entire movie?
1:10 what did he say?🤨
1:09 worst mistake of my life
Timmy Lupus is not Reggie Tower
Tanner Boyle is not Timmy Lupus
No wonder why Tanner is always pissed
Anybody here because of Sunday papers?
yup
Yup
Nope...just remebering the comic book Watchmen.
This is nirtrainman and Matthew Moore final movie appearance
1:09 the past sensitivity wasn’t for the weak
