For each show I’d say
W - Would’ve been perfect if it weren’t for Akiko or that last Episode
OOO - Very fun show, don’t have many issues with it
Fourze - Not as good as the last two but still a very positive experience
Wizard - Very underrated season imo, has a lot of the same high points/flaws of Fourze
Gaim - Had some weird choices here and there but I still consider it to be one of the best
Drive - First half was sorta meh, second half however was very engaging
Ghost - Very boring, probably the worst one of this era
Ex-Aid - My favorite Rider and the best one of this era (to me at least)
Build - Also pretty bad but still tried to be interesting and new like the others
Zi-O - VERY underrated I would say, doesn’t make any sense but still extremely fun show
Overall this is probably my favorite era of Kamen Rider so far, yeah most shows tend to be toy heavy but I found the Neo Heisei Riders
to be more interesting then most of what came before it. Really the only show I thought was awful out of these was Ghost, everything else had something to offer that made me either really enjoy or not fully hate them
Straight facts with what you said about Ex-Aid
@@WebheadFlash Honestly Zi-o is not very underrated , Hibiki and Kiva is honestly very underrated

Build is masterpiece
I actually see what Marcus is saying from the objective standpoint. While I agree with Jacob that media is a subjective thing, there has to be some form of objectivity to know whether you're doing something right with these shows and how the audience may respond
To be more specific with that, it's the idea of certain story structures and tropes appealing on a regular basis to audiences that tend to be qualified as "the right way to do things". Universal dislikes audiences share are things like annoying characters, stories that keep going in circles, character plots that start and then go nowhere, and just an unmitigated amount of noise; these things are regularly seen as bad by the standard audience.
Heisei Phase 2...
Lots of folks call it a mixed bag but there is something to like in all of these seasons. Hell, my first full season was W for crying out loud! Certainly a lot more good than bad, and even for seasons like Wizard, Ghost and Zi-O there are still folks who like em
Phase 2 really feels like the era where they went wild not just in terms of story structures, but also in terms of aesthetics: USB memories that hold the data of Earth, coins which hold the power of animals and alchemy, switches that collect/generate the energy of the cosmos, all these different things contributed to the sheer variety of what's on the screen. Does that mean the core formula of the shows differed that much? In the case of 2-parters not so much, but for the shows which went all in on the themes by the aesthetics, they gave something much more interesting than "beat the shit out of the thing till it blows up".
I would be interested in seeing you do another review for Ex-Aid that is more focus on the parallels of the game virus and Covid and how people reacted to them.
The Ex-aiddening intensifies
I'll admit, Heisei 2 is just more my jam than Heisei 1. The bigger focus on comedy really just helps me like the shows better, overall. While Heisei 1 is a lot more ambitious, I think Kamen Rider is just better at being Heisei 2. Heisei 1 feels like they wanted to be darker and more mature, and feels like it was written like some PC visual novels, what with the alternate endings in the movies. Heisei 2 is a big, dumb, loud, fun, toy commercial. Stuff like the jingles and the toys just work better when the stories are a little more lighthearted. And I always feel like with Heisei 1 that most of the shows have some sort of plot hole that bugs me after watching them. I don't Heisei 2 as seriously, so I don't notice the plot holes as much, or I'm more willing to forgive them.
As for the two-part structure...this is just kind of part of Kamen Rider's DNA at this point. Even V3 follows the two-part structure pretty closely. (I haven't seen the original Kamen Rider, so I can't comment on that). Not EVERY episode is a two-parter, but a lot of them are, and I think it's the majority. And while Kuuga does have a few plot threads woven through each episode, and a slower pace...Kuuga still uses the two-part structure, technically, a lot of the time, too. (In Episode 1 Kuuga gets his powers then in episode 2 he gets his full form and defeats the spider from the first episode, Episode 3 ends with a cliffhanger of Kuuga getting cornered by the cops that continues in episode 4.). Sure, some series in Heisei 2 take the two-part structure a LOT farther...but I just tend to treat them like hour-long episodes, since I always watch these after they get done airing. It just doesn't bother me as much, I guess.
I do wonder WHY two-parters are such a thing in Kamen Rider. No other toku does that, as I recall. I wonder what the origin is to that?
I haven't seen Wizard or Ghost...and I don't think I ever will. I don't need to do that to myself. Wizard's got a great look, though.
W-This was my first Kamen Rider, so I'm biased. I love the main characters. I'm...not sure the villains are the greatest, though. Still, I love how...hard boiled...it is.
OOO-The constant scrambling and exchanging of medals got a little old for me, but I really liked it overall. Some memorable villains. And the main character had a lot more depth to him than I expected.
Fourze-I love this one. I can't claim it's the BEST Kamen Rider, but it might be one of my favorites if only for the tone. If Gentaro was real, I'd probably find him annoying, but in a TV show he's really endearing. I have a huge smile on my face every time he shows up for a crossover nowadays. And the idea of teachers basically selling their students drugs to help their performance is low-key brilliant.
Gaim-It's got a really compelling story. The ending is...a little weird, but I understand what they were going for. And just the fact that they were able to make fruit samurai actually look cool earns them major points. And this is probably the darkest season of Heisei 2 up to this point.
Drive-I actually really like Drive. I think the villains have a really unique motivation. I like the goofy sentient hot wheels. I like the supporting cast. The only thing I really don't like is the suits. They just don't look good to me, but I've never really been much of a car guy, so that's probably it. And Chaser is just great. I like how Drive was basically a Heisei 2 Rider, Mach was kind of a Heisei 1 Rider (more of a focus on revenge), and Chase was kind of a Showa RIder (brainwashed by a organization into serving evil).
Ex-Aid-This...MIGHT be my pick for my favorite/best Kamen Rider. I have a hard time picking my favorite with Kamen Rider because they're all so different a lot of the time. But, I feel like everything is just done so well. And I'm a bit of a gamer, so all the references to different franchises was kind of fun.
Build-I like this one. I know you guys don't. I just think it does a pretty good job of trying to merge the more serious stories of Heisei 1 with the tone and gimmickry of Heisei 2.
Zi-O-I'll admit, this is probably the worst of the Heisei 2 shows I've seen. Still, Oma Zi-O and some of the overall concepts are interesting. And I still think having crossovers with the actual, "real" Kamen Riders is a better idea than Decade's kind of weak "what if" scenarios.
So, yeah, at least 7 out of the 10 shows are ones I'd recommend. I'd say that's pretty good.
Heisei Phase 2 or Neo-Heisei is very unique in every Kamen Rider series
Haven’t seen all of Neo Heisei but I’ll say what I think about what I’ve seen.
W- I loved it, but Akiko and Phillip being brought back so soon brings it down from being an S tier show for me.
OOO- one of my favorites, my 2nd favorite Kamen rider.
Gaim- amazing show, it’s in my top 5.
Drive- a meh first half, but the second half really really makes the show amazing for me.
Ex-Aid- my all time favorite rider show, the only toku I like more than this is Shinkenger.
Build- I enjoyed it, but it’s issues really stick out and the issues are very bad in some cases.
The only other show from the Neo Heisei era I’m looking forward to watching is Fourze, not so much Wizard, Ghost or Zi-O.
I feel like it would be interesting if they did a movie of EX AID vs Shinkenger, mostly because it would have the concept of ancient Japan school modern Japan with the video games and pop culture.
@@ashleygeorge9484 I perfer Ex-aid
In my opinion:
W- Amazing.
OOO- Haven't watch yet.
Fourze: My current favorite season.
Wizard: Haven't watch yet.
Gaim: It's good but I don't think is THAT good.
Drive: Probably one of the most undarreted seasons, its amazing.
Ghost: This season is not good but I think is overhated.
Ex-Aid: Another Amazing season.
Build: Great but they drop the ball in the last arc.
Zi-O: I haven't watch yet.
Drive: I love the explain of the second half , Ghost: I love the legendary rider souls and KR Ichigo movie
I'm curious; do people consider stage 2 better or worse than stage 1
My ranking of the Heisei Phase 2 shows personally IMO:
1. OOO
2. Drive
3. Gaim
4. W
5. Ex-Aid
6. Fourze
7. Build
8. Zi-O
9. Wizard
10. Ghost
Tokupitch ex-aid
Just my opinion
In heisei phase 2,
1. action scenes per ep have increase compare to phase 1.
Exp: middle of per ep fight 1 round and end of ep fight 1 more round
2. More weird and try to be funny scene per ep
3. The place keep repeating every ep like their basement. The series I get annoyed was build. Exp, build problems talk in cafe, fight, cafe again, fight again. samething repeat again and again each ep.
4. Since ghost, the monster of the week decrease. Since middle of the ep, the monster just keep on repeating.
5. Since ex aid, the final boss was not monster anymore but a Villian rider like cronos, evolt, horobi, storius.
Zi-O feels weird because they had like 20 different writers for the first half, I think.
I'm basing this on the .5 episode where they joke around that detail.
I hope Riders' Extra Final Form gets addressed before "Reiwa in Review" because it's just their Base Form but more fancier and want that trend to stop.
Overall this era was off to a strong start but somewhat ended weak. I'll say:
W: Despite Akiko and the finale, still great all around.
OOO: Also a very good show, great cast and villains.
Fourze: A mixed bag but I still enjoyed it.
Wizard: Didn't find it as bad as most people saying, but not great either.
Gaim: It was good but wasn't that good.
Drive: The first half was mediocre but the second half saves it. It's a pretty decent season.
Ghost: Coming off from W to Drive, really disappointing and boring show to watch
Ex-aid: I'll argue this is the best kamen rider that has ever created, and deserves the praise it got from many people.
Build: While ambitious, they build upon itself so hard, but they don't know how to stop, then it collapses.
Zi-O: Everything you could do wrong for concluding the Heisei era.
El pepe y ete sech
No gonna lied, I do not get the praise for ex-aid came form considering how HARD they destroy the theme of the show by the end of the show.
Because the ending is literally the only notably bad part of the show. Everything else is consistently good.
@@TheGloryXros I mean, when the ending is bad, it sour your enjoyment of the show. That, and the last like 5 episodes of show felt like a rush job.
@@lautimhum6734 Nah, the leadup Episodes were still good
With all due respect, very much disagreed. Like, maybe the Another Ending things, but the main endings and the movie, saving lives and doing your best for everyone is still at the forefront, especially when dealing with Cronus.
@@lautimhum6734 Honestly Ex-aid's finale and the ending itself was decent
