Awesome vid, guys! Here's my review for each sentais: -Goseiger: So-so -Gokaiger: Amazing series because they used other Ranger's power and returning Sentai members -Go-Busters: Good development, less concept -Kyoryuger: A bravery series -Toqger: Too much imagination and little kids
My Reviews: Goseiger - Ok Gokaiger - Best Sentai Series in my books. Fight scenes, story, and rangers were top notch. No cons. Gobusters - Didn't finish it. Couldn't keep me interested. Special effects were the best Kyoryuger - Dropped it. Red was beyond irritating. Awful, OP, and Uninteresting Toqger - Loved this series! A well done show. It was a fun ride from start to finish. Started off very light-hearted but surprised with the dark twists.
I'm glad you guys posted this because in the discord server I brought up the idea of doing a TokuTalk on the stagnation of Super Sentai. You guys summed it up perfectly, this was the beginning of the end. LuPat and Kyu aside, Sentai has been on a downward trajectory. I definitely look forward to seeing the Pt 2 of this Decade in Review. Excellent vid, guys. 😊👍
I wonder what sentai will do for their 45th season since the 20th=parody of another sentai show 25th= clipshow movie of previous sentai/crossover movie 30th= first appearance of Akared/another crossover movie 35th= a full team that can transform into previous sentais And 40th= 4 episode sentai history show along with gokaiger crossover
The 10's started off strong, and then it watered down to the point, newer ideas werent just working, at least for the sales and majority of the fans. Like I really liked lupinranger vs patoranger, but it was unsuccessful still. I hope this decade of the 20s will try other motifs that can be done a second time. Like TIME TRAVEL, BIRDS (jetman), Zodiacs, etc. A diamond themed one is a bit eh for me but it's refreshing cuz it's new so I'll give it a try. and Tokusatsu.....NO MORE DINOSAURS!
I really agree. I like the red ranger as much as the next guy unless otherwise but that is where I have to say Sentai is not perfect. The biggest sin both Sentai and Power Rangers can commit is making your show the red ranger show and Toei keeps on doing this. Power Rangers has actually been avoiding that sin after Mystic Force and with Samurai because it was a copy paste job but it had a reason to be the red ranger show because Samurai culture. If your show solely focuses on the red ranger that is a problem. This is a team not a solo hero.
I'm actually kinda enjoying kirameiger, i think it's really good compared to the recent seasons, let see if it can beat one of my favorites recently lupat
Aikijou are you guys going to review the second half of this decade because it’s done. Kiramager doesn’t count because it’s 2020. So you guys can do Ninninger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, Lupat, and Ryusoulger.
Coming back to this video, I found a real trend with Sentai when it comes to the past 2 decades: With Gao - Gokai, it seems as though Sentai found a working formula. The only real tweaks from season to season were the themes and motifs. Dinos -> Police -> Magic -> Adventurers -> Martial Arts, and so on. Typically it switches from tech based to not tech based. Buy n large, the seasons were consistently good. But it seems starting with Goseiger, the other trend that we start seeing is some small experimentation. With Goseiger it was primarily the 3 villain arcs leading up to the finale arc. The real changes start with Go-Busters, though GB I chalk up it's concept mostly to them trying something wholly different from something on the scale of Gokaiger. Gokaiger was so big and bombastic so GB went for a more serious tone and somewhat smaller stakes by comparison. It's like, there's no sense in trying to out-do Gokaiger, so let's do something different. After that, a new trend starts. See, Sentai is on a downward trajectory at this point in time. GB was supposedly not a big success. Now we begin the era where Sentai is stuck on it's formula so their solution is to try and appeal to a new audience with each new season. Despite the sticking to the formula, they still try in other ways to freshen up the coming seasons, mostly with motifs, not realizing that the unchanging Sentai formula is what's stagnating the series. They switch from a familiar motif to a not so familiar motif for the next few seasons. Kyoryuger was meant to draw on the reliability of dinosaurs. Plus it's tone was vastly different from GB. ToQger tried a new motif, Trains, and aimed the season mostly at younger viewers. Nininnger went back to Ninjas and took the dominant red trope from Kyoryuger and put it at the forefront, thinking that was what made Kyoryuger successful. Zyuohger tried a sort of new theme with the whole animals/minecraft motif. Admittedly I haven't finished this season yet so I won't comment on it beyond this. Kyuranger reeeally tried something new with the whole 9 rangers off the bat business. Plus, y'know space and stuff. LuPat was the most drastic switch up Sentai has had in quite some time with the whole two team show concept. I think buy n large this show was really good, my personal favorite season since Gokaiger. Ryusoulger, see: Kyoryuger Only much more boring and way too villain of the week and episodic/formulaic without the charm or effort that a show like Dekaranger had. Bleh. I've brought this up before but I think Sentai needs to ditch the usual formula and reimagine the tropes established in the series. They've relied on the past and on sticking to the formula for far too long. Toei needs to bring in some fresh blood and give Sentai a different feel than it's had in the past. Maybe we're due for a primarily serialized Sentai season like how Gaim was with KR. In my opinion, it's the best shot Toei has to rejuvenate Sentai
One issue with Sentai is that it's cemented its format of ground fights and mecha fights. Neither are bad in their own rights, but as you say, they become formulaic. Mecha fights are by far the most restrictive of the two because of how the actor suits are designed to be super blocky, which in itself is a side effect of how the toys are designed. Ground fights have a lot more room to be creative, but usually, it'll end in either a team finisher or Red doing his big fukkin blayst to end it all. Something like Rider has much more freedom in how it approaches episode plots because it has the core of "guy puts on suit and uses gadgets to blow dudes up" that it can proceed to experiment with and add on with other plot mechanics. I believe the answer to this issue is two big changes: making some episodes ground or mecha fight exclusive, while also designing the actual mechas to be much less blocky (something akin to Kishiryu Oh on its own) so the action can be more interesting.
I mean to be fair, look at what they have next in the lineup. Ninninger for Sentai and Ghost for KR. Plus Amazons season 2. Not for nothing, but I'd be stalling too.
Gokaiger is the only series that was worthwhile in this past decade. I did like Enter in Go-Busters. He's one of the best MODERN Sentai villains. He still doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Shadam, Bandora, Junior, Zonette, Zylpheeza, Don Donero, Ra Deus, and Radiguet. Funny regarding Kyoryuger, as that is the exact same thing I have said. It's a Sentai show, not the "Red Ranger and His Merry Sidekicks."
Gokaiger is the only worthwhile one? I respect your opinion but l disagree with that all the way maybe it's easier for me because I'm not very '90s centricand because I'm not one of those people who cares about originality I don't care if we show has original ideas or not I just want to have a good and fun show and I personally really like go busters kyoryuger and toqger so yeah I respect your opinion but disagree with that statement so whatever 😊😂😒
Well I prefer my series to have fleshed out stories and equal character development between the heroes and villains and none of the shows in the last decade sans Kiramager has done that.
Yes I understand that and don't get me wrong I want a good plot characters development too but I just don't think original ideas are everything in fact I actually really don't mind tropes and these shows have done a lot for me personally they've helped me to be a positive person shows like go busters kyoryuger toqger and kyuranger taught me to be a more positive person because it taught me that even in darker times to never give up and still have that fun imagination and make friends and I related so much to these characters I know I may be a bit biased but it's my opinion so take it with a hinge of salt anyway have a good day ☺️👍
I listen to some Elvis occasionally. I prefer his country material over his rock. And, as a guitarist, I also listen to the black blues musicians he stole from. As well as the black blues musicians they stole from. Elvis may be the king of rock 'n' roll, but we would have no rock music without Chuck Berry and Link Wray.
Will hasbro ever adapt akibaranger into power rangers season? When people talk about what sentai season will get adapted into next power rangers season Why they alway forgot akibaranger?
Do you think will hasbro adapt super sentai strongest battle before adapt ryusoulger? That series was prequel of ryusoulger & that where gaisorg, ryusoul green,& ryusoul black first appear I really want mini series about tournament where power rangers fight each other
Kyuuranger, ToQgers,Zyouhger and Lupat have not been adapted and 3 of the main characters are from those series. And Ryusoulgers will be the next adapted sentai series. So the chances of that are 0%
I had theory about kyuranger wil never get adapted because space is not popular in usa Proof:Disney's Star wars movie was hated by most people Also kyuranger's concept was so different to any power rangers season like: 1)some kyuranger member are alien & robot while every power rangers are human 2)kyuranger has 12 member while theres no power rangers that has more than 6 member 3)kyuranger take place in space while every power rangers season take place on earth 4)kyuranger's suit are too weird for power rangers: -ookami blue has fur -washi pink has wing -sasori orange has tail -oushi black are so bucky -koguma skyblue are so short -kajiki yellow has pointy visor
1) We've recently had Robo Knight, Zenowing and Steel who are robots or non-human and became rangers. So Blue, Gold, Black, Pink and Purple wouldn't be out of place. 2) So then what about SPD (who had 9 in series) or Dino Charge (who had 10)? 4) What's the problem with having different quirks for each ranger? By you definition, only Red, Silver and Green are the only "unweird" rangers.
star wars was only hated because of the story not the space elements, if were just looking at the visuals the new star wars trilogy was great. the story that accompanied them wasnt and thats why people have varying opinions on it
Uh space is still very popular in the USA, just look at Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok. Also the current highest grossing movie in America is a movie about a group of heroes that consists of a genius scientist, his best friend, a super soldier, a genius big green monster, a literal god, an enhanced Russian assassin, a talking raccoon, a guy who shrinks, and a blue cyborg alien lady traveling through time to retrieve 6 space gems because a big purple alien dude destroyed them. And the previous highest grossing movie was about blue alien cat people. People have accepted the weird
I think Power Rangers can benefit from another space adaptation since in the 2010s the earth bound stories were on a downward spiral with Beast Morphers being one of the few decent ones of the decade. Also did you forgot about In Space the sentai (megaranger) was purely based on Earth and Saban made a entire space opera from it, Sentai has an entire space story gift wrapped for them. All Hasbro has to do now is create compelling characters that go through a character arc, also we have had many non human looking rangers such as Phantom ranger, Blue centurion, Cruger, Roboknight and Steel so having a team of mostly non humans could work.
Awesome vid, guys!
Here's my review for each sentais:

Jkin62 Thank you!
I listen to Elvis because my mom raised me on Classic Rock and Classic Country and Elvis was in both
Gokaiger is my favorite for this video.
I wonder what sentai will do for their 45th season since the
20th=parody of another sentai show
25th= clipshow movie of previous sentai/crossover movie
30th= first appearance of Akared/another crossover movie

And
40th= 4 episode sentai history show along with gokaiger crossover
SolarChroniclesXII I meant carranger mainly because that was the 20th season
But yeah I can see toei treating kirameiger as the 45th anniversary
The 10's started off strong, and then it watered down to the point, newer ideas werent just working, at least for the sales and majority of the fans. I will say there is some elvis songs that I enjoy listening to, even if I'm not much of a fan.
IMO Basco is the main villain of Gokaiger.
I really agree. I like the red ranger as much as the next guy unless otherwise but that is where I have to say Sentai is not perfect. The show literally just started. There's no comparison to be made yet to an already finished show.
Aikijou well you cant lie the start of the show is better than a lot of whole resent seasons (but yeah i understand your point)
Granted, it’s written by Naruhisa Arakawa, so it’s guaranteed to be good and enjoyable
Aikijou are you guys going to review the second half of this decade because it’s done. Kiramager doesn’t count because it’s 2020. So you guys can do Ninninger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, Lupat, and Ryusoulger.

A Half-decade? Okay, now you guys are just stalling from getting to Ninninger.
2rrkd yeah it's pretty obvious they don't wanna do it. My thing is like just review it and get it over with.
I mean to be fair, look at what they have next in the lineup. Ninninger for Sentai and Ghost for KR. Plus Amazons season 2.
Not for nothing, but I'd be stalling too.
They just posted the second half today. Spoiler alert *jacob likes ninninger*
Gokaiger is the only series that was worthwhile in this past decade.

Will hasbro ever adapt akibaranger into power rangers season?
When people talk about what sentai season will get adapted into next power rangers season
Why they alway forgot akibaranger?
because akibaranger isn't a official season I guess?
Also considering Blue and Yellow's outfits I don't they can adapt it without getting complaints from parents.
No. Keep Akibaranger in Japan and lock it up in Japan
Becuase it's an Unofficial Sentai. :-)

yes and only a copple songs
I had theory about
kyuranger wil never get adapted because space is not popular in usa
Proof:Disney's Star wars movie was hated by most people
Also kyuranger's concept was so different to any power rangers season like:
1)some kyuranger member are alien & robot while every power rangers are human
2)kyuranger has 12 member while theres no power rangers that has more than 6 member
3)kyuranger take place in space while every power rangers season take place on earth
4)kyuranger's suit are too weird for power rangers:
-ookami blue has fur
-washi pink has wing
-sasori orange has tail
-oushi black are so bucky
-koguma skyblue are so short
-kajiki yellow has pointy visor
