As I'm enjoying watching your hike, every few minutes it strikes me how many different camera angles you use and how many shots of you approaching the camera, or crossing the camera's field of view, have pristine unmarked snow in the shot. And then I shake my head in admiration for the amount of extra effort you take to place the camera without marking up the snow in the shot. And then I think "Holy crap, not only is this guy climbing a 13,000 foot peak but he's retracing multiple paths up the mountain so he can place the camera to give us awesome shots of him climbing the mountain!". My hat's off to you, your videos are beyond "next level".

I study a tree species found in Nevada called Great Basin bristlecone pine. It is the longest lived non-clonal organism on earth, with individuals reaching 5000 years or more. I have visited bristlecone groves throughout Nevada. You traversed a grove on Sheep Peak, and there may have also been some along your route up Wheeler. You should check out Mt. Washington a bit to the south in GBNP. It has a truly spectacular forest of these special trees.

It’s not Canada. No doubt about that one! The Canadian mountains you hike and share with us are incredibly majestic in comparison to these. While comparisons don’t diminish the unique characters of the different environments I won’t lie the Canadian footage is mind blowing. I am very thankful you could make it south to our beautiful land for access to a different kind of beautiful hike experience and winter weather that isn’t so brutal. Being so cold to capture that beauty is a high price to pay back to back winters. Nothing screams “home” like a loaded slow cooker and fire stove ❤️

The trick to chainsaw sharpening is you need a sharp file. They only last about 1-2 chains before the file becomes dull. It takes years to really learn how to take a dull chain and make it cut better than when it came out of the box. Get a 5/32nd round file and a raker file and gauge. The cutting teeth should feel like a cats claw. Ready to dig into flesh. Its really an art of its own like knife sharpening

Basins are dropping down between each range as the region is stretched, crust is thinned, and basins get filled with alluvial deposits from Ranges. Nice attempt at finding missing RUclipsr Kenny Veach, tho. Didn't know his backstory. But relieved NV ranges are far too rugged to see Forresty recover any scattered bones.

Humans are so small compared with the relative size of the Earth. It is humbling and should remind us that nature is far bigger then we are. It gives us peace in the quiet. It teaches us to find out who we are....... and reminds us of how life is short.... Cherish it.

Nevada is one of those places where you can do the math for how far it is to the horizon when you drive - most places have some visual impediment but I remember the feeling of vastness when driving there. Used to have a NorCal friend when i lived there who had a vintage (like 1960's) Landrover I think called the Sagecoach that he would take out to Pyramid Lake area and the hot spring to camp out for a while. Back in the day... Things change but it's kind of nice to see how the land sometimes doesn't change

As a hiker who loves the mountains but can never seem to get way because of my job i really enjoy your scenic videos helps me relax after a long day and destress imagining being there hiking.
The backdrop at 8:42 as you're driving toward Wheeler Peak is majastic makes me want to hike that mountain in the winter just like you. God Bless you!

Red vision in a hot tub: You sound like you might have a mild case of vasovagal syncope.
Usually feel nauseous and then the vision gets blurry? If that's what it is, it's fairly common and not terribly serious.
Happens is that the hot water causes your blood vessels to dilate and your blood pressure drops. The drop in blood pressure can cause you to become light headed and have blurry vision, sometimes your hearing can also suffer. You can pass out if you aren't careful possible drowning in the tub/hot tub.

Your videos have regained their magic since I stopped reading your patreon posts. FYI. Your life these days is an amazing and so so real adventure, any spoilers from patreon ruin the videos for me. I don't want to know ahead of time what you're up to / where you're headed. Loved the time lapse at the end, and that western scenery is so beautiful, in my opinion. Thanks Foresty and yes I'll see you in the next video!

We have some beautiful mountain ranges on the east side of the USA.
Especially through the upper South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and parts of Kentucky.
You definitely need to visit here.
I do have to admit that Canada does have some very beautiful scenery and mountainous areas.

I’ve also looked for people that were lost in the past and it becomes apparently clear very quickly that it’s a needle in a haystack 99% of the time. My best guess is that Kenny fell in some type of a crack or hole and he wedged way down all the experience in the world doesn’t stop you from making mistakes sometimes.

You’re absolutely correct. I can relate! I was hiking on Portage glacier near Whittier Alaska in ‘97 - lost my footing and slipped on an incline of packed ice. I slid 50 yards down the slope unable to stop until I slammed into a large boulder that was partially exposed above the ice. Just another 25 yards further and I would have slid into a 30-foot deep crevasse. My legs and hips had hit the boulder first, so I was extremely sore for a couple weeks, but I was happy to be alive. Like you said in your comment, no matter how much experience you have .. I learned to never take nature for granted.
