As a GM tech I will say this about your ifs rattle. It’s endemic to the design. And yes it can be ball joints or rod ends as when you apply the brake the noise lessens as the load on the components increases. Check it all and good luck!

I'm a lifelong aviation enthusiast and have been following the Trevor Jacob debacle as well. It's hilarious how well he documented all the evidence of his guilt then broadcast it online, thinking he was going to get tons of cool internet points.

He also strategically edited his video to eliminate shots that included the open, flat land behind him where he could have glided to safety. He's a royal assbag.

Pro tip, add a tablespoon or two of peanut butter to your chili after it cooks, adds great flavor. Nice overnight time-lapse. I've always heard to keep your tires on the same side when rotating, helps save tread?
@@MikeR55 doesn't matter how often you rotate, it has to do with the change in direction and its affect on the tread. It is not a huge deal but it will shorten the life of the tire. That's why if you've ever had to buy a used tire, they'll be marked with a R or L, signaling which side of the vehicle they came off of.
Re odd rattling noises with the brakes, with one of my previous Land Rover Defenders I had new pads fitted that rattled. I'm guessing that they were a cheaper make than the OE spec' ones. Once things had got a little used and dirty they stopped rattling. You could remove your pads and add a smear or two of copper grease to the rear of the pads. As for other odd noises, I had one on my current Defender at exactly 36 mph. After much thought and listening I took it in and the mechanic listened via a stethoscope and found that the front diff' seemed to be worn. A reconditioned front diff' and new drive shafts and other bits and bobs were purchased at the cost of around £1500 and fitted. For around a week there was much less cluncking in the drive train and the noise at 36 mph was gone, then it was back, grrrrrr. I've decided to leave it until it goes bang, or doesn't, as the case may be. I'd turn up the CD player, but that's stopped working too (tee hee).

You’re Canadian and use Rotel…HOORAY!! I use it in chili, taco meat fixins’ ETC. Bag a peak, eat some chili, chop some wood, fix a rattle in the wheel well, rotate some tires, climb to some ruins…you know, just an average day in the life of a super cool, badass van lifer. I like how you are able to show us all the stuff off the main road. I road my bike across the country back in 2007 and went right by that area through Dolores, Ridgway, Montrose, etc., but never once went off-road. I thought I was being adventurous but I really wasn't even close to what you're doing. Also Kudos for making a point of showing us that you use a torque wrench when tightening your wheel lug nuts. Most pro mechanic will just use the air hammer, call it good, and never check the torque.

I'm very curious as to how you handle sanitary needs, cleaning, and waste storage. Like, do you use cleansers of any kind? And how do you store waste products (both food and from cleaning and from personal use) without stinking the van up?

For your rattle issue, I recommend checking your anti rattle clip, it might be corroded/broken or slipped out of place letting your brakes chatter against the pistons while its floating (i.e.no brakes applied)... if thats not it, maybe those pins you took out might be out of round (maybe from corrosion or knicked on a certain spot), if neither, upgrade the whole brake system :)
you have a floating design caliper, which means the pads should be able to move around freely (more as they wear out), the pads could be ever so slightly bumping around but given the crazy roads you drive on may make them louder. It will probably go away when you get a fresh set of brakes on there I reckon
Trevor Jacob… Bro! I’ve been a subscriber of his channel and thought he was a pretty cool guy up until I seen that video. The aviation community is not happy and the comments he’s receiving are well deserved. The latest videos I’ve watched are about the fire extinguishers he had attached to his leg and he opened the door before the engine failure to see if it was possible. No emergency checklist and no attempt to glide the plane to a safe area when he had 30+ minutes to do so at that altitude, even make an emergency contact he never even attempted. He kept pulling the yoke back when they’re trained to push it forward especially in that aircraft when the prop needs to be started by hand or by pushing the nose down. He Allegedly turned the ignition off so that it would not have started on its own. I’m very interested in the outcome of this.

Peanutbutter mmm.. Also sour milk/youghurt is great with fryed minted meat
When rotating all five, including the spare, a different pattern is used, look it up :)

For your rattle issue, I recommend checking your anti rattle clip, it might be corroded/broken or slipped out of place letting your brakes chatter against the pistons while its floating (i.e.no brakes applied)... if thats not it, maybe those pins you took out might be out of round (maybe from corrosion or knicked on a certain spot), if neither, upgrade the whole brake system :)
you have a floating design caliper, which means the pads should be able to move around freely (more as they wear out), the pads could be ever so slightly bumping around but given the crazy roads you drive on may make them louder. It will probably go away when you get a fresh set of brakes on there I reckon
@@awaara24 Anti-rattle clips that secure the pad in place is the issue. They rust or loose their tension. They are small, cheap, and easy to replace.
Trevor Jacob… Bro! I’ve been a subscriber of his channel and thought he was a pretty cool guy up until I seen that video. The aviation community is not happy and the comments he’s receiving are well deserved.
The latest videos I’ve watched are about the fire extinguishers he had attached to his leg and he opened the door before the engine failure to see if it was possible. No emergency checklist and no attempt to glide the plane to a safe area when he had 30+ minutes to do so at that altitude, even make an emergency contact he never even attempted. He kept pulling the yoke back when they’re trained to push it forward especially in that aircraft when the prop needs to be started by hand or by pushing the nose down. He Allegedly turned the ignition off so that it would not have started on its own.
I’m very interested in the outcome of this.
