That fuego is a solid little reel... it's a composite framed daiwa bg with some good sealing at the pinion with mag seal, mainshaft with rubber lip seal...and a side swappable handle seal....Good stuff! that Tsunami is one of the most rugget 100$ egg beaters ever made! Just not as nice in the refinement dept..and that pot metal gear is a weak point! But if you get a good one....it'll hold up!
100% The only rinses my gear gets is rain :) Buy a pump bottle of corrosion x oil instead of wd 40...it'll last years and it's 10000000X better for the reel. WD40 will do more harm than good on modern reels.
Mere "pot-metal gears" you say? Sir, you know better than to besmirch the good name of Asian metallurgy! You yourself have recognized, and given name to, this mysterious, and always inscrutable, material that henceforth will always be be known as: "Chinesium".
Actually, that wasn't boring! I'm looking for a good affordable reel and I'll be buying one of the two that you spoke about in the spring. Haven't made a decision on which one yet, but I'm looking very forward to using one of them for fishing over the next several months. Thanks for your videos. They have provided me with some great entertainment through a very cold Colorado winter. Oh how I wish I lived closer to saltwater fishing LOL!
You're great guy and fisherman as well Asa really great hardass on being great on your reviews and you are one of two maybe three guys I trust on buying gear. Thanks for your honesty.
EV man everybody is weird, don't worry about it. You have a bunch of followers who enjoy "your" weird, so like you said it is what it is. Thank you for what you share and I have bought items from your sponsors because of you.
Thanks for the report. Didn't realize until the end that you were back in NYC. That dumped TV was reality TV at its' best. Remember: "The Bronx has a cheer, but Brooklyn has a salute!"
Big up!! I lived in Brooklyn for a long time and used to haul my outback through the side door of our apt building at all times of day hahahaha neighbors thought I was crazy. Have a boat now and live up in new Rochelle. Also... shield is a winner. Especially for the price.
I have 2 Daiwa Ballistics (2500 & 4000, and they are the best investments I ever made with buying fishing reels. Event though they were a bit pricey I have had them and fished them heavily for about 3 years and they have held up really well. I like the fact that they are completely sealed and can get saltwater on them with little to worry about other than hosing them off and putting a little oil on the shaft every blue moon.
Had the same issue with my Hook4, 2 months and it kept going on, then off, then on then off..... for good. Made a switch to hmmm Great video's, good to see NY/NJ fishing on the Tube! Look forward to the upcoming season and hope to meet you one day on the bay! Thanks for the gear review!
Very nice video explaining some very helpful tips ,Thank God there's good news about that tsunami shield , can't wait later this season to maybe fish with ya, getting that Hobie outback
Elias- not sure if you see comments on older videos or not. I'm looking at the fuego 2500 for inshore fishing. I'm looking at the 2500 as it's the only one with a 6.2.1 ratio. I plan to use it to target albies initially. Think it would work out? Small reel but solid drag and the ratio im looking for. Appreciate any input. Thanks man!
So what happened with the kastking Kodiak spinning reels?? What's the deal with your history with them. I've seen a lot of video's about them with positive reviews.
If you use Dow 795 caulking it’s a structural caulking we use to hold glass in this product will seal and hold anything after a couple days you could also use window weld if you ever break anything it will set in less then 3o min
hey man which woulkd you recommend the BG or the fuego LT? I'll be fishing 95% freshwater large mouth, and peacocks with the occasional inshore red/snook. rod is a 7'6 MF im8 custom blank from bullbayrods top water and light jigs/senkos. found you through tackle advisors, good vids man.
I've used every major reel brand. I only buy Daiwa now. I use a diawa saltist for blackfish, stripers, etc. And I use a diawa bg for fluke, sea bass, etc. Never tried the fuego, but I love the BG. Don't remember what I paid for it though.
"Galvanic Corrosion" (like a battery) Because the bolt is a different material than the rack. Enhanced by salty air (the electrolyte) . Use never seize or loc-tite or even pipe sealant to help isolate the materials. Can also use "anti-corrosion " gels..normally used electrical/battery contacts. Nice review on the reels.
cool, i think part of it is just the many millions of flex cycles over time from wind buffeting..not much you can do about that without extra structure...or just replacing the bolts every so often. Not sure what grade of bolt Thule supplies for that joint. Anyway enjoy the upcoming spring fishing.
Will only do semi sealed or better . Done with the constant maintenance. Just got a shield cause I was to cheap to buy another saragosa which I love. Hope it works out heard the gears go in them. Fishin aint cheap
Jan 30 - Feb 1 doesn't = 30 days. Just not sure what months u were there. You make my favorite videos, from the no frills feedback to the respect given to the fish. Thanks.
I have a diawa bg and a penn spinfisher v. I like them both. Surprised the spinfisher wasn't mentioned in best reels for under $100.00. EliasVFishing do you have any experience with the spinfisherV
Quick question. I’m looking to get into kayak fishing and want to buy a kayak. I fish small to medium sized freshwater lakes/reservoirs. I’m looking to spend around $1200. Can you recommend me a kayak? Thank you!
Now I use cheap Chinese portable fishfinders, I don't like carrying a batery, cables, drilling holes in order to install a Garmin o Lowrance fishfinder, it's a mess when you flip your kayak it will screw your instalation and device.
Let's face it Elias, when you use stuff it's different than when we use stuff most of the time. I don't think any manufacturer engineers their products to be used as often as you do. With that said if you ever give a review of something that you say is bulletproof than that is what you should get.
I always think about how awkward it must be for YT creators when they're filming and talking to the camera in public. I couldn't do it lol, I'd be too self conscience.
I believe in a video last year you said you were sponsored by kastking. Are you still? Are you a fan of their reels? I have a couple of their wheels and I have been very happy with them
I have noticed, and it is disturbing, but it actually holds up pretty well. If you can get used to the flex, I actually think you’d need an immense amount of force to actually break it.
EliasVFishing I can't wait for some NC vids! A bit disappointed you didnt choose Morehead or Beaufort area so I could fish with ya some but maybe I'll run into you someday. Wilmington does have some great kayak fishing!
You compare apples with oranges. Fuego is not designed for saltwater, while Shield is called Shield for a reason, have extra protection. Soaking a freshwater reel in salt is not a good review. Use Saltiga in Florida, expensive reel but designed for saltwater, is simple as that.
The onlyreel penn makes that's competitive with others in it's price range is the Slammer 3 and the Torque. Skinner is a great fishermen....But the Battle 2 isn't a very good reel. Not when compared to everthing else that's now out there.

@@TackleAdvisors so its bad to rinse of your reels after salt water use? I've been doing it after every trip 😫

"It is what it is"...words to live by....
Welcome back to Brooklyn brother that's a nice find right there at the 38 inch TV that's the legal size 1
Great vid man !! Please more catch an cooks!
Tons of us watching from Ontario Canada!
Yes! Monday thanks Canada!
I've been loving the videos Elias
U should have got with key west kayak fishing. He knows his stuff. Can't wait for new vids. Love to watch .
Elias- not sure if you see comments on older videos or not. I'm looking at the fuego 2500 for inshore fishing. I'm looking at the 2500 as it's the only one with a 6.2.1 ratio. Lol, where were you recording this?? Thx for the recap. Headin to Naples areas in a few weeks. Ur vids have helped prep!
Great Video! Ive has the hook 4x out for one season and no issue with the unit itself. My waterproof power connector failed but easy replacement.
I own the tsunami shield 3000 / 4000
Your right on there performance. Not the smoothest, but a true workhorse. Love these reels!
What did you like better about the Fuego than the BG, is it better sealing? Love your videos
Yea, that Daiwa Fuego is a keeper. Any wins on the rods?
So what happened with the kastking Kodiak spinning reels?? What's the deal with your history with them. I've seen a lot of video's about them with positive reviews.
If you use Dow 795 caulking it’s a structural caulking we use to hold glass in this product will seal and hold anything after a couple days you could also use window weld if you ever break anything it will set in less then 3o min
Do you think I should get a shield 5000 or a spinnfisher 4500
I own three fuegos in the 1000 size for trout. I’ve also used them for bass. There my favorite reels for ultralight setups.
hey man which woulkd you recommend the BG or the fuego LT? I'll be fishing 95% freshwater large mouth, and peacocks with the occasional inshore red/snook. rod is a 7'6 MF im8 custom blank from bullbayrods top water and light jigs/senkos. found you through tackle advisors, good vids man.

Hi
What is the best Daiwa DC or DC xh
"Galvanic Corrosion" (like a battery) Because the bolt is a different material than the rack. Enhanced by salty air (the electrolyte) . Use never seize or loc-tite or even pipe sealant to help isolate the materials. Can also use "anti-corrosion " gels..normally used electrical/battery contacts. Nice review on the reels.
Yep did put locktite on it. Hopefully can last longer this time
cool, i think part of it is just the many millions of flex cycles over time from wind buffeting..not much you can do about that without extra structure...or just replacing the bolts every so often. Not sure what grade of bolt Thule supplies for that joint. Anyway enjoy the upcoming spring fishing.
Elias, are you able to get parts for your Tsunami reels?...I can`t find a company number.
I"m looking to buy a 6000 reel and like Diawa. I was going to buy the BG and want to know if you prefer the fuego to the BG. The BG is sealed
You need my half acre out in the country. Love the quiet and room. Good video, sorry bout the rack. They are a good product. Good choice of reels.
Good meeting you at the show the other day
Welcome back!
Have you tried the daiwa fuego cs LT5000-CXH?
Good to know I just bought 3 of them SH and BG model. Will use them in few days
How about a review of the rods you used curious about action and sensitivity. Im looking to purchase a new one this year
Will only do semi sealed or better . Done with the constant maintenance. Just got a shield cause I was to cheap to buy another saragosa which I love. Hope it works out heard the gears go in them. Fishin aint cheap
I love watching your fishing or review videos because you live near me kinda.
So when are you moving to Florida?
how did you like the kastking kodiak?
Jan 30 - Feb 1 doesn't = 30 days. Just not sure what months u were there. You make my favorite videos, from the no frills feedback to the respect given to the fish. Thanks.
Oops December 30
Thanks for the clarification 😊
I have a diawa bg and a penn spinfisher v. I like them both. Surprised the spinfisher wasn't mentioned in best reels for under $100.00. EliasVFishing do you have any experience with the spinfisherV
Too heavy for my type of fishing. 13oz is a lot for me.
bobbyd41c where can you find it for $100 or less?
Booboi010 it used to be on amazon for 77 delivered but now it’s 108
Come to the south. It's a kinder gentler place, well at least quieter.
Quick question. I’m looking to get into kayak fishing and want to buy a kayak. I fish small to medium sized freshwater lakes/reservoirs. I’m looking to spend around $1200. Can you recommend me a kayak? Thank you!
SirDallin check out the Nucanoe frontier 12 ,not fast but very stable .
You should give the penn spinfisher v reels a try poor mans van steal... they handle dunking and the best drag I’ve ever used
So you are at the Rock Aways?
I’m really diggin that VII hoodie!
So How About The TV?
Just in time for a Catch and Look?
Have you tried a shimano stradic Ci4+
Go Navy don't believe it's saltwater I own a stradic it's over 10 years old wade fishing king still as smooth as day it was bought
Tony Walls awesome
So you recommend the Daiwa Fuego LT over the Daiwa BG?
Fuego LT 1000%
Dang! That's a bold endorsement. Any particular reasons why you like it over the BG?
Nice! Thanks the gear vid!
A1 title my man!!
Now I use cheap Chinese portable fishfinders, I don't like carrying a batery, cables, drilling holes in order to install a Garmin o Lowrance fishfinder, it's a mess when you flip your kayak it will screw your instalation and device.
Lowrance also has a good warranty they can send you a new one within a few business days and u send back the old one
how is the flex of this reel is it bad?
That’s harsh with the lowrance Elias. I love my hook4 haven’t had any problems. Bad unit most likely??
Yeah was a lemon. New one works fine.
The fuego was never meant for saltwater use. If you'll spend a little more and get one of Diawa's magsealed reels I think you'll be impressed.
John Smalldridge fuego lt
Picked up 2 Fuuegos 1000 and 3000 $65 each for Father's day!
bet you're missing Florida with all that snow right huh Elias? :P
Jan 30th thru Feb 1st. Damn how did you fish 25 days?
Dude, I had to rewind the video to hear that again... then I saw your comment haha
Elias. This needs a 2023 version..
I like my 3000 BG. It's a little tank
What happened to the kastking reels
No longer working with them. Going a different way
Let's face it Elias, when you use stuff it's different than when we use stuff most of the time. I don't think any manufacturer engineers their products to be used as often as you do. With that said if you ever give a review of something that you say is bulletproof than that is what you should get.
Is that a FF7 hoodie?
I always think about how awkward it must be for YT creators when they're filming and talking to the camera in public.
I couldn't do it lol, I'd be too self conscience.
I believe in a video last year you said you were sponsored by kastking. Are you still? Are you a fan of their reels? I have a couple of their wheels and I have been very happy with them
Last year I was, not working with them anymore.
EliasVFishing thanks for the reply. What was your thought on the quality of the reels?
Not bad but they rotated their line ups on some of the best offerings too frequently
"Tarpons are like big bluefish or stripers on crack"...love it!
How about your sunglasses? Any opinion?
I break, lose, and scratch sunglasses as fast as you’ll blow out a tire on the belt parkway after this snow storm!
Fuego LT has too much flex in foot when reeling in fish IMO. U must have experienced that, no?
I have noticed, and it is disturbing, but it actually holds up pretty well. If you can get used to the flex, I actually think you’d need an immense amount of force to actually break it.
Have you checked out NC any?
Just signed my lease. April 15th Wilmington...can’t wait.
EliasVFishing I can't wait for some NC vids! A bit disappointed you didnt choose Morehead or Beaufort area so I could fish with ya some but maybe I'll run into you someday. Wilmington does have some great kayak fishing!
Surprised the new Daiwa BG wasnt in this review. Pretty solid reel for right around $100.00.
I’ve used the BG before but I liked the Daiwa Fuego better so far.
Things might have improved on them...but I wrecked a BG after a dunking...
That makes sense, its not a sealed reel.
I believe the bg is heavier too
Great video 👍🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
so true ... weird filming yourself in public... wacks me out too
Good info 👍🎣🎣
What's up with signing a lease in Carolina??? No more TV dumps down there lol. Video the move or it never happened!!
I will! Last day in NY April 15!
That parking lot looks really familiar.....lol
Your tv?
I generally don't have time for TV during tournaments..does it work?
Fuego feels plastic. But if u like it, it is on sale at Cabelas right now
The Fuego LT?
i was just looking at the ad. the fuego is on sale for 69.99 the LT is 99-109
It would be nice for a lot of You RUclips producers to offer a tackle pack of things that you use a lot or new products
the only real losers are the people who had to stay in the northeast freezing our asses off while you were fishing in FL
You should do a west coast trip
With fisherman’s life
If only Daiwa came with a LT alum bodied spinner in different sizes...oh wait, they do, the backbay saltist but only in ONE SIZE #$&**%*
Like a ball-cap from China? One size fits all ... ?
don't get me started on one size fit all headwear...I've got a giant melon head!
Beats the hell out of a cheese-head!
I want a 2500 size so bad.... 3500 always feel like giants to me in daiwas
Where are the links?

I love New York! You gonna miss it man! LOL
Bahaha the face made when a kid ran by 😐
Still lookimg foward to a sting ray catch and cook
You compare apples with oranges. Fuego is not designed for saltwater, while Shield is called Shield for a reason, have extra protection. Soaking a freshwater reel in salt is not a good review. Use Saltiga in Florida, expensive reel but designed for saltwater, is simple as that.
Good tip on reel...
Just think you will be striper hunting before you know it. Have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from Massachusetts
December 30 no?
Save your money buy kastking sharky 3 😏the peoples champ
So I won right? Haha
is there a J&H plug in there? i bet
You prefer Amazon?
I know you did previously before the last 4 months.....
that is my old fishfinder on the groud not a tv
Hahaha!!
I would not recomend Diawa to my worst enemy!
Yeah I seriously used to feel that way too.
Yea I have a box of dead Diawas so I got wise and said never again.
Kevin B same bought the steez it was junk especially for the cost won't ever use one again
It’s pronounced tool-ie. No “th” in there Holmes.
Love your content man! Subbed! Newbie here. Check us out. Peace!
Penn battle 2 best reel under $100. Hands down, don't believe me ask John Skinner. Beautiful view on Floyd Bennet.
Destroyed battles for years. Anti reverse and seizing
John "works" with Penn. John's never used a Penn product the he didn't like (on video anyway).
The onlyreel penn makes that's competitive with others in it's price range is the Slammer 3 and the Torque. Skinner is a great fishermen....But the Battle 2 isn't a very good reel. Not when compared to everthing else that's now out there.
Not a fan of the Battle 2. Mine failed in 3 different ways within maybe a dozen uses. Once the gears stripped I chucked it.
Slim1 Dune daiwa bg is superior
floyd bennet field =]
