Agree on the Shakey Head.
The fact that a glide bait requires hours and hours of casting for only a few bites doesn't mean it's over rated , just the opposite in fact. It's a well known big fish bait that requires extreme dedication like no other lure. It does exactly what it claims to do, it catches monsters but only rarely. Over rated would be if people were claiming it was one of the greatest baits ever created for bass fishing as if it were better than a plastic worm
I fished a 8” Huddleston from the bank for 3 months with only bites. Then I catch a 5.9, 6.6, and 10.8 in 3 casts.
I mainly fish Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes which have super clear water. Shakey head is always on my deck.
Glidebaits are a style of fishing. I agree that in a tournament situation glidebaits are a waste of time but going out and only fishing glidebaits trying to catch the biggest bass possible is something that me and a lot of people like to do. Glidebaits will also catch in pressured water but im also in Cali so it might be different here :/
What is the toughest river systems to bass fish across the country? I fish the coosa(Weiss) mostly, but I feel it is harder than the Tennessee and Chattahoochee Lanier drainages?
If weather permits it and you can keep the boat straight I run down the shore and basically just troll the glide bait while I’m fishing the shore. The slow stop and start action the glide bait does just increases your chances of. Not to mention you are fishing anything you want at the same time the glide bait fish just adds into the fun.
I've had some success on glide or swimbaits but nothing compared to other things I have more confidence in. I agree there's a time and a place, and if you're on a lake that isn't pressured it would probably be amazing. But for the rest of us that fish lakes that get pressure, you can't go wrong with a fluke or other traditional methods.

Hmm,This i feel is also a way underestimated bait. Ive had personal success. Great for new angler trying to make a splash attraction. I feel sometimes it at least wakes them up , then follow with another good pick of choice.

Agreed, i feel some baits need finesse learning through time. I can never fish without throwing the nightcrawler at least half the time lol. Just works for me
