  • ✨St. John's wort. ✨ (Hypericum perforatum)
    Available at: harmonicarts.c...
St. Johns Wort always flowers around the summer solstice and has 5 petaled yellow flowers, with opposite leaf structure.
When viewed from the top of the stems the leaves create a perfect cross which was symbolized in folk lore as an offering of protection from witchcraft and super natural forces.
Hypericum comes from the Greek word to place "above the icon" suggesting the service consider to protect people against demons and witchcraft.
Perforatum comes from when you hold the leaf up to the light you see little perforations. This plant is also suggested to be used for pins and needles, nerve damage and perforation of the skin. As well as to protect from psychic perforation and attacks.
In the past it was used the universal medicine for helping get rid of psychic energies of possessions attachments and spooks. It was applied for many forms of insanity, helping conditions like epilepsy, schizophrenia, hallucinations and paralysis.
The Europeans brought it over to North America in the 1800s. Was said to be perfume of the gods and flower of the fairies.
Many Native American tribes soon revered the plant.
Used for pulmonary complaints, bladder trouble, dysentery, worms diarrhea, depression, jaundice and cancer in the 18th century
St. John's wort's benefit is considered to be from its essential oils, resins, tannins and flavonoids, as well as alkaloids such as hypericin, which it is commonly standardized to in the market place.
It has anti bacterial and antiviral, anti inflammatory properties. Making it great for wounds, burns, sprains and strains, varacose veins, bruising and inflammation both internally or externally.
When rubes on externally it has been used to treat stretch marks by pregnant women. As well as haemorrhoids, and aching swollen veins.
Much for the modern use of this plant is for anxiety and depression.
It is thought to be an Mao inhibitor, though now there is some conflicting info on that. More research is being done.
There is no doubt it has alleviated mood disorders for literally hundreds of thousands of patients. It has been difficult to determine how this plant really works, though it has been observed that and cloudy years the chemical levels are lower then sunny ones. This could explain how it works on depression. Isn't depression like a cloud overshadow in a persons life? Saint Johns wort appears to bring rays of sunshine into those cloudy situation, acting like a solar battery that helps work with SAD (seasonal affected disorder) conditions.
In the 80s was rarely used for depression and principally known as an antiviral.
Used for AIDS and HIV. Helping function to destroy virus particularly effective for retroviruses. Since large dosing can have adverse effects it is believed that this herb looks more on the subtle body's been on the physical body of the person
after much extensive research in Germany is eventually confirmed that it had antidepressant qualities.
Homoeopathically this plant is used for injuries to nerves especially fingers and toes excessive pain promise and anxiety. Especially pain when there was some type of traumatic psychological attachment to it such as being cut, a dramatic after birthing a child or falling from heights.
Cautions with this plant are that in some groups of people (3% approx.) St. John's wort may cause photosensitivity.
Matthew woods suggests St. John's wort is a great remedy for the solar plexus center is often associated with self-esteem. Also helping to improve got level in stinks especially with people dealing with unconscious sensitivities.
Energetics -bitter sweet mild and cold properties. cleansing damp heat, dispels heat, removes toxins.
Homes lists it as bitter Sweet and astringent cool drying properties secondary characteristics of relaxing, restoring, astringing and stimulating
Enters the lung, intestine kidneys, bladder meridian

I love herbal medicine and St. John's Wort but the answer for SAD is not to take something but to get the heck out of the house and into the light, even in winter! This will cure SAD. I know, I have it an lived in Bellingham when I found that I must study outside or else sink into the dark night that is Bellingham's Winter months.

I agree with all you’re saying but I do believe the people have a chance as many are praying and repenting worldwide. We will see as things are moving along quickly now & this virus is being used to force us into lockdown (look up “lockstep”) so they can vaccinate us all with their “ID 2020” microchip vaccine. EVENT 201 explains a lot. What evil surrounds us. I pray the people wake up to the truth, pray and repent.

Thank you Yarrow.... I was up helping my family get wood and the plant kept yelling St John's Wort so I brought some home and double checked thank you because of you I followed my intuition and remembered what you said. I talked with them the whole time and got a cup of wild strawberries too!!!!! My ten year old son who is always tired and unmotivated stacked wood like a champ and thanked me for reaching him what I knew of foraging, he loves being around vegetation with me. 🙏💕💫✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨. Post from Yarrow Willard today.
Happy Saint Johns Wort Day! or St. Jean Baptiste Day!
This day is a traditional day of celebrated in old world European culture, and marks the harvest time for St. John's wort flowers.
I have a story for you....
Over the last two days I've had excruciating pain in my chest. I woke up Monday morning and could barely walk, it felt like a rib had popped out of its socket, even breathing was painful. I had to slow down, drop all my plans, and rest up. It was so sudden and I couldn't think of anything I had done that could have provoked it.
After steaming and soaking, icing and massaging for a day with no relief, I started thinking about how this condition would have been treated in a traditional old world culture.
A sudden debilitating pain like this most likely be considered witchcraft, psychic attack or an evil wind. Now I know that sounds far out to some of you, but instantly my mind turn to Saint Johns wort, the herb I've been working with so intimately over the last few days. Not only is it great for shooting nerve pain like I was feeling it especially was used as a protective Herb against dark forces that mean to harm someone. So I started taking micro-doses every 10-15 minutes of the Saint Johns wort tincture I made last week. I also placed a small bundle of the herb above each door of the house for protection. Instantly I started to feel better.
My wife Angie then had me do some open chest yogic breathing exercises. I felt ashift start to happen and now I'm on the mend still taking my drop dosage of Saint Johns wort, and still have a little pain, but I can move, and am feeling great full for the protection of St. John's and a loving wife who helped heal me up.
In an after thought, I realize that I take on too much sometimes, I move too fast, and leave myself vulnerable by often being one step ahead of myself. My lesson and blessing is one of slowing down, grounding my actions and honouring this temple of a body I was born into.
    Thanks St. John's Wort,
    Happy St. Jean Baptiste Day
    Y~

Great vid but small correction--it's now believed that HYPERFORIN is most responsible for antidepressant properties whereas HYPERICIN simply improves Hyperforin absorption (it helps hyperforin reach steady-state levels in the blood).

St. John’s wort oil is amazing applied on skin burns caused by the sun and also for muscle pain rub.
Once I was studying for my exam all night and I made myself a tea with St. John’s wort to relax. I made it very strong by mistake and I started hearing voices in my head. Nothing like that ever happened before or after so I know it was from the flowers. I did not understand what they were saying but it was like hundreds of different voices speaking all the same time. It was the weirdest thing and it really scared me at first. The tea I had was all flowers picked in the wild. I find that the tea I buy in stores is mostly leaves and not many flowers so maybe it’s not very potent.

In the UK St John's wort teabags are usually marked to not exceed four teabags or mugs per day. Also my experience of St John's wort was that although it takes out the 'down' spikes also tended to take out the 'up' spikes so my mood became flatter.

I quit taking it yesterday and today woke up with the feeling like my head was spinning. I was very dizzy, fatigued, and started getting really sick to my stomach. I'm not a depressed person. I actually don't really believe in depression. I was just taking it because for a year I was taking melatonin and diphenhydramine together every night to get to sleep and stay asleep. I was sick for awhile and it messed my sleep up. Anyway I didn't like how I had to sleep for 10 hours just to get a decent sleep. The diphenhydramine lowers sleep quality and I had to start waking up early a lot. Also I have social anxiety and I thought it could help me socialize normally. I have only been taking st john's wort for a week. The only reason I decided to quit was because I thought it was making me jittery. I kept waking up at night feeling really energized. I'm not sure how it could make me tired and help put me to sleep but make me jittery too. Maybe it was some other reason making me jittery. I don't know. I didn't know it had such harsh withdrawal or that it had any withdrawal at all. In that case I think I'll keep taking it but I'm going to try not taking it right before bed.

    • @Herbal_Jedi
      @Herbal_Jedi  9 лет назад +3

+Ian Pearson You can make your own tincture with the dried herb matter, though best to make sure it was harvested in the flowering season. 60%-70% alc. is preferable for this one. Ideally you would get your Saint Johns wort fresh, for this year you may want to purchase some already made tincture from fresh flowers and harvest some next year yourself. We sell both Tincture and Oil from fresh flowers, as well as dried leaf and flower at Harmonic Arts. Check out this link if you are interested in seeing the products we carry with St. Johns wort in them. harmonicarts.ca/?s=St.+John&post_type=product

+Harmonic Arts Botanical Dispensary i have a question... i have been taking st john wort on and off and most of the times it has a good effect on my mood but after watching this video i wonder if buying a fresh flower and mixing it in tea with ginger would have a same benefit as taking supplement? also does buying it fresh might cause the flower to dried out till it delivers?

@@Herbal_Jedi how do you pull up the reviews on your products? I keep tapping the reviews or the stars but it wont show them. Perhaps you dont accept writing of reviews, just stars?

I’m giving my 14 year old this because she is experiencing eye twitching and a cough/hiccups tic she does... I think she is overwhelmed and not really sleeping though so I hope it helps calm her nerves.

I really appreciate this video, my mom had me start taking St. john's wort recently. If possible would like to talk with you about this herb, started off taking it three times a day and two 150 mg. capsules each time. Just would like to hear more, thank you again for this video.

I took it for 5 months in tincture form for 3 and then pill form for 2 because I began to get headaches and dizziness. Now I’m suffering visual disturbances and struggle to focus my eyes on things. I have now stopped taking it and am petrified that I’ve ruined my brain and or vision

Great video! Thank you. I went foraging today and cut a zillion flowers! Happy happy 😃 Question: after getting home and inspecting the flowers there are little tiny worms throughout, for a sec I thought they were stick stems but when they moved… OMG 😆 So now I’m going through every cut stem/flowers and making sure to remove any and all squiggly worm. Have you seen this as well? Is it okay? Do you clean your harvest??
