Leased a 2019 luxury Lexus ES 300 hybrid in 2019, golden! Wonderful comfort, luxury, mileage, ergonomics, notches above previous model platform, great car! Don't need F sport features, but wouldn't turn one away.
The ES is truly a great car - your review of one last year inspired me to buy a 2021 Ultra Luxury (believe the word is “bougie”…) and I love it! Great review this time, too. Lexus is saying they also redesigned the brake pedal (!) on the ES for 2022 - a bit of weird trivia - congrats on 258k subscribers! Cheers!
I’ve recently been contemplating trading my c63s for this. Now I’ve test drove this car and it’s an absolute delight quality wise, but I’ve also focused more on really pushing my current car and I’ve come to the realization that the handling and V8 are hard to part with.
@@hectorsanchez5818 I made the change 2 months ago. Like your friend, I'm happy too. Turns out amazing mileage in a comfortable package is better than the V8.
Had a C43 a long time ago and now have an es300h. Loved the V8 and quality was outstanding. For a Daily Driver it is very hard to beat the combo of comfort, size, and mileage of the Lexus though. Once you get used to the smooth eCVT you don’t want to go back to a standard slush box. It’s not fast like the c63, but it isn’t slow at all. There is more than enough power to pull into traffic and pass people.
I love this new model, kinda reminds me of my 2020 Altima SR look. Thinking of trading in my Nissan for this Lexus. Thankfully I've had taken real good care of my Altima and only has 8k miles on it. Bought in 2019 with 6 miles and now thinking of trading it in for a Jeep or this Lexus 🤔
This ES will never replace the GS for one reason. REAR WHEEL DRIVE. The driving dynamic is way more pleasurable with the GS. The ES is just another appliance
Excellent review, covering all the specs and performance together with the differences of the models offered, this is a severley overlooked car, but reviews like this will hopefully address this. In the UK secondhand, this model seems to be selling at a huge premium to the IS300H, not sure why, perhaps someone more knowledgeable may enlighten us?
I've always been a little skeptical of hybrids, but this trim appears to be the real deal. I like that Lexus is still committed to the traditional gear shifter and the CD 📀 player. Are the front headrests adjustable (forward and backward)? Oh, and I like the end-of-the-car review hiccup; made me laugh 😅!! Greetings from Dallas, TX!!
I just don't understand Toyota's option strategy. No heated rear seats(available on a Camry/Avalon) and the fact that the now-discontinued Avalon not only had available LED turn signals, but sequential turn signals makes me question Lexus' product planning(yes, I know the triple-beam LEDs are available, but you have to go up on other options to get those. Vehicles like the Genesis G80 offer far better feature set at lower pricing). Sure, it may have a higher grade of leather, a better sounding audio system, and a few other niceties, but offering the same powertrains(exact same) as Toyotas don't exactly seem to present a valid argument for purchasing this over say a Camry XSE Hybrid.
Toyota products never been about value. Lexus is just a rebadged Toyota for those who dont wanna be seen in a mainstream car. Lexus is to gain more market share not necessary to offer more luxury and equipments.
What I don't get is why they haven't mated the V6 with the AWD yet. That would be a real advantage over the Camry and outgoing Avalon where you're stuck with a gutless 203hp I4 if you choose AWD. Lexus is and has been phoning it in drivetrain wise for years now. I mean years behind the competition in nearly every segment.
@@kizo172 I certainly see your POV. Things like the Highlander Platinum is a far better purchase than an RX or the Camry XLE/XSE being a better value than an ES. But Lexus has a problem and that problem is Genesis. They are insurgent against the entire luxury class. As what Lexus did to Cadillac, Lincoln, and other JDM luxury marques in the early 90s, Genesis seems poised to do the same. This, on top of a refocused Acura, and to a lesser-degree, Infiniti. We shall see. The NX looks promising, but the GV70 is such a striking small-ute, and the MB GLC and Audi Q5 are slated for redesign soon.
@@MercOne drives me absolutely nuts! Even GM puts AWD with every powertrain as optional on the CT5(sans Blackwing). I'm not sure if any of their TNGA-platformed cars offer V6 and AWD, forcing you to get an SUV. And if you do get it, you're relegated to an IS with a detuned 3.5 AND/or a 6spd automatic. The NX seems to showcase the new 2.4T with 275hp/320lb-ft of torque, but still not sure if AWD will be mated to it on cars. Toyota/Lexus is stubbornly behind in powertrain in the name of protecting their reliability status. They don't even have a BEV planned for the US yet, and the NX will serve as their first plug-in hybrid. Just unfathomable for a brand that invented mass-hybridization for the industry.
@@hellkitty1014 Yeah Lexus is years and years behind now in engines/transmissions outside of the LS and new LX600. I can't understand for the life of me why the IS350 didn't get a version of the turbo V6 to really wake the car up. Lexus thinks luxury stops at leather, dealer service and reliability. All those are great, but offering those with cutting edge tech and powertrains would put them back where they were in the early 90's, a brand to contend with. Lexus' sell on past glory now.
So how are F Sport seats compared to the normal seats as far as comfort goes? I sat in a RX350 F Sport and the seats were not as comfortable as the standard RX350 so that is a concern for me.
It probably depends on your body type. Both are very comfortable in terms of cushion, but the F-Sport seat has bigger boaters which hug you in and wouldn't be as comfortable for a bigger person
My Camry has full led headlights and turn signals and a better infotainment system Also Kristiāns you’re only saying smh on that because it’s a Toyota. I’m sure if this were a Chrysler sedan you wouldn’t say that
I think they intentionally choose the ones without the LED package to make the car looks outdated and inferior to the competition. I have the Ultra Luxury one, fully loaded, and it looks sick!. Every Lexus reviews they posted doesnt have one.
It was time (5 years ago) for Lexus, who wants to maintain the PREMIUM BRAND moniker, to equip all their cars with LED bulbs (everywhere). Their reputation for quality has started to take a back seat to people's desires for style and the absences of old technology. One reason why Lexus LS sales are in the toilet. At their current pace, I see Genesis continuing taking away Lexus sales just as Lexus started doing 20 years ago with Infiniti.
Hey Car Confections bros, it's Oct 2023 and I'm considering ordering a 2024 ES 300h with the premium pkg to keep the out the door price closer to $50k than $55k. I've been viewing RUclips reviews and found yours quite thorough and informative. You mention that the standard sound system is "adequate" and that the standard headlights are a miss and received your "Air ball" rating. Assuming all things being equal and one had to choose between the optional ML sound upgrade or the optional triple led headlight upgrade, which option would you choose and why?
I would pick the Mark Levinson because you will hear that every single day whereas you might not be driving at night daily. Good luck with your ES purchase 👍
@@CarConfections Thanks for the upgraded sound system recommendation. I'm kinda happy you didn't say the 3 beam headlights because they look cooler than the single beam. While I could be wrong, I'm skeptical that the light quality with the 3 beam is 'significantly' better than the single beam. Also, replacing the triple will be 'significantly' more costly. Since the ES has such a quiet cabin (at least that's my understanding), it makes sense that a driver having a dynamic upgraded sound system is more likely to be rewarded each time they're behind the wheel vs having an adequate standard sound system. As for headlights, I believe that current US federal headlight rules have resulted in headlights being left behind in the 20th century compared to headlight tech offered in cars sold elsewhere in the world. We're nearly a quarter into the 21st century and headlights on most cars sold in the US, including even the expensive upgrades offered by some car makers, do not produce optimal night time driving conditions that we should have by now. Just my 2 cents.
It does look good, but it won't ever drive like the GS. F-Sport on this car means absolutely nothing driving wise. Lexus should have re-imagined the GS as a 5-door lift back like the Panamera or A5/S5/RS5 type of car. The ES250 is absolutely gutless and Lexus should be ashamed of 203hp in a luxury vehicle.
