I am the friend! this is my buddy Ben! This was at a New York regional that we went too! We had been telling him all night not to play it because no one in their right mind was playing sphere mode but Ben said "Nah, I'll win with it" and did. it is wild to hear this story outside of our friend group but man is it still a legendary story to hear. Good stuff Ben make sure you give him love for this cause mans is crazy haha!
@@Practitioner_of_Diogenes Well, sphere mode straight up used your normal summon too, the only card that can tribute your opponent monsters and doesn't uses the normal are Kaijus
@@Axelpvz2030 No, Lava Golem doesn't "take up" your normal summon, you outright just can't normal summon. Sphere Mode just takes a normal summon, it doesn't stop you if you can get multiple normal summons.
@@Practitioner_of_Diogenes Unless you are playing floowandereeze you only get one normal summon, so is the same, even more you can use more than one lava golem per turn if you have it
@@Axelpvz2030 I see you know little about other archetypes, then. Vampires can get several normal summons. Noble Knights can get multiple normal summons. GraveKeeper's can get multiple normal summons. Hell, any deck technically can get multiple normal summons if you want to run the "ehhhh" card "Double Summon".
Legitimately, the thematic point of the song matches the game too, with how Sphere Mode was played... It's as if Ra's Wrath was coming down on the opponent for not using it as it was intended, and treating it like it was just a disposable card. The fact that the guy was carrying Winged God of Ra specifically for this outcome to happen makes me entirely convinced and believe that this was destiny at play. Or perhaps, Ben changed his destiny of that match and got that vision of Ra which is why he put it into his deck despite how insane it looked...
I played "The Dark Power" from Beyblade Metal Fusion just to imagine the guy's reaction morph to shock by saying "Don't tell me... the entire duel up to now was to force a Sphere Mode unlock?!"
Bro that sounds like something straight from the anime tbh, imagine Joey playing Scapgoat and Marik being like "I never told you about Ra's 3rd ability"
I dropped a Slifer on someone once using Monarchs. I figured out that Monarchs , after they got their structure deck, were able to maintain a hand size of 3 with lots of tribute fodder. And Slifer is effective with 2 but thrives on a hand size of 3. Since Monarchs gave you a free tribute summon as well, it made sense to try it out. Now admittedly, there was no way to reliably get Slifer to hand back then so it was a tech card. But the look on his face when it happened said it all, the whole room stopped when they heard "I Summon Slifer the Sky Dragon" said nonchalantly. The duels next to us just stopped playing entirely just to see what had happened. It was a great feeling to pull it off. I wish I had the play by play but these are things you don't normally save at a local. I always play 41 cards, So It literally was just a monarch deck with one Slifer added. The timing of this was when monarchs were not tier 1 anymore, they were rogue but this is the time i can say for certain. I never could afford the top cards back then so I had stuck with Monarchs for a few formats just due to being experienced with the deck. I think I still have that deck in storage though since when I finally did move on I usually keep decks intact for nostalgia reasons.
Back in the day, when Mound of the Bound Creator came out, I ran a Gishki Zielgigas and would tech in a copy of Slifer and some Call of the Haunted since i could use it for the tribute of Zielgigas. Had a few duels where I would just get Slifer in grave, Call of the Haunted and the Slifer field effect would just screw up plays as a pseudo floodgate
This reminds me of the time the players next to me stopped playing when I milled a skull servant then dropped a king of the skull Servants with 12k atk.
A Fellow Monarch Main That Also Teched In Slifer xD I Would Switch Between D-Hero Plasma And Slifer Just Because Depending On The Matchup, One Or The Other Would Just Shut Down The Opponent
I imagine the freaking grin in his face before going "I FREAKING SUMMON RA" As his opponent just stares at the board and his face like "Wha? What? How? Why?" And completely panics because they didn't expect something like that to happen (tbh, who would expect that?)
funnily enough though, when sphere mode was released, it was one of the most popular cards around and this was around that time period, so there was not a "zero" percent chance of it happening... but really? XD
Casual MtG player here: I love this kind of deck tech. Running a card that is borderline or even completely unplayable, but perfectly answers a threat that your opponent might have. :) I still remember years ago having a Green-White deck (with a splash of Black) and running a Black/Red card that really did nothing for my combo. But Standard at the time had Magus of the Moon, a 2/2 that makes all nonbasic lands only produce red... And I had pretty much entirely nonbasic lands... So if they dropped MotM, most of my deck just couldn't even be cast... but it was stupidly easy to cast my random card and it just so happened to do 2 damage to any target when it entered play...
a few years ago, I think I accidentally invented a meta strat. I was running a blue/black deck that had several "place card from your graveyard onto the field" and was running a couple of different colors with OP effects to supplement this. about a week later, all of the sudden, every deck was running the graveyard cards but with the most op card type in existence (it lets you steal any permanent your opponent controls...) basically my version was an invincible flying monster with first strike and double strike (something like 8 white mana and 8/8) and a dragon that when summoned could destroy cards on the field and do damage for each card destroyed (which included opponent's cards). When the revive cards became meta... the game became very unfun.
I remember when Landfall came out, it was funny using cards like Scute Swarm (doubles itself whenever you get a land on the field) and opponent playing stuff like Cleansing Wildfire (destroys one of your land and you replace it with a basic land) 😂 Wish I recorded one game where I got like 200 scutes in a single turn off some weird mechanic my opponent was using and they just sad and let the timer run out
mtg player here. I remember adding an eldrazi titan to my modern goblin deck just because i was afraid of mill. round 1 i manage to play it like turn 4 or 5 with haste so it could attack. Opponent was salty and asked "why the heck would you run that let alone in the main deck?" i responded " because i dont wanna loose to mill" he then scooped and left the event without saying anything. Ended up calling a judge cause i had no idea what to do now lol
Definitely reminds me of a long period in Legacy when Painter's Servant was super-viable, and suddenly everyone was sideboarding a single Emrakul because it shut that down. Like, decks like D&T that couldn't cast it were using it _solely_ to turn off Painter. Or when Whiptongue Hydra was a staple of 12-Post and anything with Natural Order because Delver was Tier 0 and ran all flyers because it could obliterate everything a Delver player could summon.
Bruh, that was crazy. Crystron and RA? Ok this guy must’ve gotten a standing ovation or something for something so bizarre but it works very well. What looked like a brick turned into THIS miracle.
Dog, there were my friend and I yelling in excitement and the dudes 4 friends standing in awe as ben signed the slip and walked off without saying a word, it was like a fever dream
OMG I did something similar far more recently. One of my friends hit me with a sphere mode in my Egyptian God deck. When I siad "Activate Sphere mode" they said. "Oh your just gonna link it off, understandable." "I summon RA, from my Deck!!!" My friend: "Wow..."
The craziest part is teching an anti sphere mode in a tier 0 infested environment of zoo that typically ends on one monster, making sphere mode one of the worst board breakers. Dude really said but it'd be funny if it works and got rewarded lol.
Reminds me of waaay back at the start of the game when Harpie's Feather Duster was a nightmare. I played Gryphon Wing. Was it useless? Yes. Was it ever used? Like 2 or 3 times. Did they ever see it coming? No, and their reaction was priceless...
This dude was genuinely possessed by the Pharaoh. It reminds me of when I played a draft of MtG Convention Mystery Boosters. Most MtG sets have 60-360 cards in the card pool, but Mystery Booster had over 1800. I played a draft with my friend, opening random packs and building a deck with them to play against them. I got Goblin Game, a dumb old card that lets you gamble LP just for fun. My friend managed to draft, draw and keep in hand a Teferi's Protection, (a card that means you basically don't exist until the next turn) which was I believe the only card in that set and one of the only cards out of 35000 printed MtG cards that legally removes you from having to play out a scenario. She waited until I gambled, then phased out and left me to face the consequences. It was the most insane moment I have ever experienced in a card game. The possibility of randomly having that interaction would be so ridiculously miniscule. Completely unplanned too as the packs were brand new from a box I bought.
It's the 2018 NAWCQ. I travel from Michigan to Fort Worth, Texas with four friend's in my friend Josh's prius. Yes, 16 hours. We get there days early to test and rest up for the main event. I'm playing pendulum pile while we still had electrumite at 3. Now, mind you, I'm terrible at testing and I essentially forget how to play the game. However, during the tournament, I'm much better and channel the heart of the cards themselves. Since Gouki & Sky Striker were some of the top meta threats of the time, a couple of guys in my testing group played them so I got pretty familiar. Flash forward to day 1. I win my first two rounds and feeling great. The experience thus far was amazing and I'm feeling phenomenal, having an amazing time. I get my table for round three and proceed to go sit down and shuffle up. My opponent arrives and I'm about to cordially greet him when he says, "Just scoop it up know man, I'm playing the best deck, I'm 2-0, you're not going to win." I laugh at this getting the joke because 2-0 isn't really prestiguous. I soon find out he's not joking and is just that cocky. I win the dice roll, go first, make a solid board full of negates, and pass the turn. He attempts to run into five different negates plus a hand traps and begrudingly concedes game 1. He's on gouki and I side in the appropriate cards. He opts to go first and we draw our five. He starts complaining about bricking and proceeds to set up a sub optimal board. I have also bricked, and bricked hard, like I'm building neighborhoods for days, but to the best of my ability I keep this info to myself. He passes turn and I draw. I draw abyss actor curtainer raiser for turn allowing me to establish a pendulum monster outside of my normal summon and go about making electrumite. I proceed to bait out a negate and begin surgically piecing apart his board. I manage to OTK him and he starts spitting out a slur of explitives, scribbles his name on the match slip and stomps away. I take solace knowing that I'll almost definitely never see this individual again. The rest of the tournament was fun, but I ended up getting my 3rd loss in round 8 to an excited and enthusiastic sky striker player. The following day my friends talk me into joining a regional flight. I end up playing against one of the guys in my group round 1. I take game 1. He takes game 2. Game three begins with me making a critical missplay and I'm on the defensive for the rest of the game until I get him with a hairline play on the hope he has no hand traps. I go into Dark Rebellion XYZ for a big attack and clutch out game 3. Flash forward to round 3, I'm sitting down and my good ol' friend from round 3 yesterday sits down in front of me saying, "I'm playing a new deck and totally going to stomp you man, you got no chance." I win the dice roll, go first, and win game 1. Game 2 he decides to go first. He learned from the previous day because he didn't reveal what he was playing so I was at a loss for siding. Was he lying to me to get in my head? Or pompously bragging about a new deck? He starts his turn summoning inspector border and setting a couple backrow. I currently have nothing in my hand that can out the inspector border and feeling bad about it, especially with two backrow, I don't know what to do it, until I draw for turn. My good ol' friend, Abyss Actor Curtain Raiser. I annouce "Standby, main phase?" He activates nothing. I proceed to activate curtain raiser in scale and the explitives pour out of him. I go to battle phase hoping he has nothing to remove my now 2200 atk curtain raiser. I declare the attack. He checks his backrow and moves the inspector border to the graveyard. I sigh in relief as obstacle number one has been taken care of. In main phase 2, I proceed to build up a board, run into a torrential tribute, and pass with nothing. He draws for turn, sets two more backrow, sets a monster face-down defense and gestures with his hand that he's passing the turn. I draw and proceed to otk him. He says nothing and storms off. My round 4 opponent was a really nice playing world chalice. All of his friends were standing behind him as mine were behind me. It was however a quick 2-0 and that how I won the only regional flight I've ever played in.
Absolute weirdness. Letting a sphere sit there like a unstable nuclear bomb and the protagonist has a Winged Dragon of Ra in the deck like lighting the fuse.
Hiya loom! I have a story (it's my literal only interesting thing that happened in an event.) It was in peak tear ishizu format, I was queuing against- guess what? Tear-punk! Got you there! and I was piloting myutant. Turn 1 the opponent comboed off, then passed. My hand was the following: Myutant mutant, emergency teleport, myutant ST-46, myutant cry and crossout designator. one of the worst myutant hands, because i actually had to play myutant instead of handtrap turbo. The turn went the following: Activate E Tele Summon out M-05 Get impermed Mutant special summons Get solemned (-4000) Normal ST-46 Add expansion Set expansion and crossout pass Over the next turn I draw macro cosmos, attack then set pass then I'm left I 900LP before they pass again (they really bricked like it was kitt pass) So what do I do? I activate crossout designator, banishing a myutant beast then chaining cry to use the banished card to summon out synthesis, I pop their kitkalos, it gets banished because I chain my macro cosmos and then they gamma me. I chain synthesis to become unaffected by monster effects and I swing for game. I didn't end up winning the event but that was my best duel ive ever played. I now vow never to touch myutant again.
to be fair, if this happened to you, wouldn't YOU forget about RA's second effect as well? imagine if it were sleifer, that funny card that destroys any monster summoned with 2000 or less attack? XD
Haven't played the game in years but stumbled onto the channel, funny to hear those stories. This really feels like the moment where Yugi gave Joey time Wizard only to bait him and put Dark Sage in his own deck xD
Ah man this gives me nostalgia feelings because I ran a single copy of Raviel, Lord of Phantasms in my Dark World deck back in 2013. It can be a double edge sword at times but no one ever sees it coming.
I run Sphere Mode in Kaiju myself! Alongside Owner's Seal! A Normal Spell that returns all Monsters on the Field to their OWNER'S side! So, since it was MY Card, even though it's on my opponent's Side of the Field... Also, I love Ben's username and Avatar there!
Hi I've got a story from a regional in Dreieich germany (September 2023) For a long while now i've tried to make furhire playable with varying amounts of success. with the release of the runic cards the deck had finally become playable and even meta relevant alongside the spright engine... but since i was stubborn i refused to play it and just went with "pure" furhire runic which enables a few neat playes but is overall still probably objectively worse. The event was going rather well an i was 4/0 after round 4. Round 5 ends up with a sort of mirror match except the opponent was playing runic with the at the time relatively new chimera cards. I'm sure sure probably aware of it but runic tends to makes games go for a long while because both players just keep recurring resources, and especially chimera and to an extend furhire due to Filo the lvl 1 people don't play in spright builds also have great recursion so i went in with a plan of keeping him off fountain or removing it whenever he gets one out while he mainly focused on trying to keep my board cleared. since neither of us ended up having a battle phase throughout the entire game (i've tried on multiple turns to not use a runic spell but he always had enough resources to force my hand) it dragged on for a long time untill eventually time was called and my opponent just said gg since non of us had played any cards the manipulated lifepoints so far so we were both at 8k. this however is where the power of pure furhire comes in. after i told him we should still play it out untill the end of the phase (he was a nice guy and we were both having fun so he didn'T suspect anything) i managed to bait his last negation with a runic destruction targeting his fountain and then took my entire board (an appolusa with all 4 of it'S negates expended and an underworld goddess + 1 random furhire monster i normal summoned that turn) and turned it into a Folgo who's effect let's you special summon a furhire monster from deck. the monster in question was Wiz a level 7 spellcaster who you also don't usually see in spright builds of the deck so my opponent hadn't even known the card existed who gives you 500 lp for every other furhire monster you control. I know it's not the most spectacular story, but it's really neet to see some of the ways you can cath people offguard by playing the cards of an archtype that aren't necceccarily meta relevant.
When I was about 13-14 years old I went to a Yu-Gi-Oh Jr. Regional Tournament. This was outside the US, and the top X places would qualify for the National Tournament. To get a spot in the top X you basically needed 2 Ws, or 1 W and two draws (out of 4 games). At the time I was playing Different Dimension, and I went with a friend who played a Deepsea King Coelecanth OTK deck. My first game was pretty easy, and I won the match without much trouble. I can't remember the other player's deck, other than the fact that he had a surprising number of vanilla monsters. My second match was a big loss, I also cannot remember what the deck was but I got trashed. So, 1W and 1L with two games to go, I was feeling pretty good. They announced the pairings for the next round, and it turned out I had to duel my friend. He was also at 1W1L, so maybe a draw would have benefitted us both. Regardless, we agreed to not draw on purpose, and go for the W. First duel, I get OTK'd pretty quickly. Second duel, I'm getting nothing, and it's starting to look like the OTK is imminent. Eventually, he sets up the whole board with Coelecanth and has everything to OTK me, but I somehow manage to defend enough to stay with 800 LP. At this point, the timer has run out, and we have a set amount of time to finish the duel. This was 10 years ago, so I cannot really remember how I did it, but I somehow pulled something out of my ass to turn it all around. I ended up winning that duel before the timer run out. So, as we were 1-1 it was declared a draw. 1W-1L-1D is where I am at. Last round pairings are announced and my opponent is a little kid. Now, I know I myself was a little kid, but this was a REALLY little kid. He must have been between 9 and 11, and he was very small in frame, and was getting help reading some cards from his mom. He was running a Machina deck. First duel, I mop the floor with him. Like really bad, it almost seemed like he was going to cry. After seeing that I asked him how he was doing, and he told me he was at 1W1L1D, same as me. Immediately I offered him the draw, and his face lit up as he thanked me and said we should do that. Second duel, I throw the game immediately and we are 1-1. I just basically sat there setting traps and spells while I let him attack me directly. We agreed to run the clock in the tiebreaker, and so we both started just doing the same, setting cards down. There were a few minutes remaining in the clock, and all of a sudden the kid gets a shit eating grin. Even at this point I didn't realize what was about to happen. I pass the turn to him and he immediately starts comboing like crazy, starts removing crap from my field, and he ends the combo with a Limit Removal'd Machina Fortress. I got OTKd. Kid walks away and informs the judge, who was looking at me with a face that said "you fool, you fell for the oldest trick in the book". I went to ask the kid what he did that for, and the only thing he told me was that I shouldn't make deals to tie games. I still think about that little shit.
This reminds me of a duel I was in I was playing infernity against Gishki and I used when they used a Gishki's effect to discard and search I used a counter trap called Debunk that when a monster effect is activated in the hand or GY: Negate the activation, and if you do, banish it. My opponent was surprised that I was using that card.
This wasn't at a tournament but this happened to me on EDPRO for some context because of this specific deck I usually set the starting life points above 8000 because otherwise the decks main combo wipes out over half of my opponents life points in just the set up. The deck itself I call Blast Chain: As the name suggests, it's an effect damage burn deck designed to reduce and prevent the opponent from attacking. Whilst I don't remember every card in the deck (keep in mind, EDOPRO has the option to disable forbidden/limited list and even use cards exclusive to the anime and manga) but some notable cards I had were: Monsters: Fire princess Bowganian White Knight dragon Blood Mefiest Lava Golem (ironically, I never actually drew it 😂) Giant germ (3X) Dark Lord Merie (3X) Amabel Golden ladybug Protector of the lost sanctuary Dark Lord nurse And a single set of exodia Spell cards: Spell Absorbtion Dark room of nightmare Emergency provisions Pot of greed (3X) Graceful charity (2X) Messenger of peace Cauldron of the old man (though previously before it was realised I had poison of the old man) Final countdown Double summon Card destruction Hand destruction Anime card of sanctity (rarely drawn) Wonder balloons Dealings with the dark world And a spell exclusive to the manga that allowed both players to draw 3 cards Trap cards: Solemn wishes Nightmare wheel Wall of disruption Gravity bind Mirror wall Magic cylinder Magic cylinders (once it was made) Mirror force Mirror force launcher Reckless greed Drop off (3X) Gift voucher (3X) And a few traps that can be summoned as monsters for extra defence. A lot of the time, I'm asked if I'm using a deck that's Soul purpose is to assemble exodia as I frequently draw draw based spell cards. However, ironically, in all the times I've played this deck, I've only ever assembled Exodia twice once when it was my only chance of winning and one time that was unintentional. For quick context: I HATE decks who's soul purpose is to assemble exodia and have no respect for people who run that kind of deck alongside those who run Blue-Eyes, Dark Magician and Harpie lady decks because those decks are 1 Trick ponies and beyond predictable. Before I get into the time I unintentionally assembled exodia, I'll quickly go over the decks main combo: Opening hand: 6 cards sometimes 7 rather than 5 - summon fire princess and play Spell Absorbtion and dark room of nightmare increasing my life points by 500 and dealing 800 to my opponent - play Double summon to bowganian, Spell Absorbtion, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again Play pot of greed and draw 2 Opening combo happens again ideally the cards drawn are both graceful charity, Opening combo activates - play both graceful charities to draw 6 and discard 4 (to get dark Lord meries in the graveyard). Opening combo activates twice more Right off the bat, I've increased my life points by 2500 and inflicted 4000 damage to my opponent, and the set isn't even finished yet 😂 - play messenger of peace, opening combo activates again. If I have it from graceful charity (though this rarely happens), play final countdown, opening combo activates again. - play emergency previsions to destroy Spell Absorbtion, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again Set solemn wishes and gravity bind face down. Ironically, Ash Blossom was rarely an issue for this deck, and the few times it showed up, it rarely, if ever affected by strategy in a negative way enough, that garentied my Loss. Before the start of my next turn, I reveal solemn wishes: - I draw and solemn wishes gives me 500 life points, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again. - bowganian activates, dealing with 600 damage and dark room of nightmare activates. - 3X copies of dark Lord merie activate giving me 600 life points, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate 3 more times each. - I pay 100 life points to keep messenger of peace on my field. If I have any hand effects like golden ladybug and / or Amabel in my hand, they activate increasing my life points again, and the fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again. Not only does this combo inflict up to 6400 damage just in its setup (hence why I usually set starting life points way higher), but on my next turn, the combo inflicts an additional 4100 damage to my opponent minimum and all it takes is drawing a card during my draw phase to set off. And all it costs me to keep this combo alive is 100 life points to keep messenger of peace out (2100 if I get Mirror wall instead of Gravity bind) mirror wall is mostly there in the rare case of a lv3 or lower monster with 1300- 1450 attack Anyway, finally onto the unintentional exodia win: It was a standard 6 card opening hand duel I don't remember my exact hand but I had drawn pot of greed and I had 1 piece of exodia in my hand. This was common as usually, even when I got multiple draw based cards, I'd be lucky to even get 2 pieces of exodia all duel 😂 I play pot of greed and get Gravity bind and another piece of exodia. I form a fairly standard field for this kind of deck and end my turn. My opponent walks into Gravity Bind, preventing themselves from attacking. I draw, and surprisingly, I get a 3rd piece of exodia. Keep in mind this one was right under the piece I drew with pot of greed last turn. I tell my opponent this in the in-game chat, and he jokes that I will probably assemble exodia then. Sure enough, on my next turn, I GET THE 4TH PIECE OF EXODIA And then on the following turn I GET THE 5TH. Somehow, the games auto deck shuffle had not only placed 4 exodia pieces on top of each other but had placed them only like 6 or 7 cards away from the piece that was in my starting hand (the piece in my starting hand was the 2nd card of the 6) 😂 My opponent was a good sport about it and we had a second duel which I lost without drawing a single piece of exodia 😂 To this day that was in my top 5 craziest duels others include: - the time I was stalemate locked against a magician girl deck whilst using Ais ignister deck (my opponent actually almost decked out that's how long we were locked in a stalemate for 😂) - the time a blue eyes spamming moron accused me of cheating because they didn't read the card text of Vijam the cubic seed and just kept attacking FACE UP vijams with different blue eyes cards seriously 1 check of the text and they'd of seen vijam cannot be destroyed in battle 😂 - the time a friend of mine almost beat me in his first ever duel (I wasn't even holding back and he learned how to play just by watching me duel once without me wben realising he was watching the duel 😂) - and the time I lost when my opponent had 0 life points left due to an immortal combo they assembled with relay soul and a monster that tributes itself thus going to the graveyard without triggering the side effect of relay soul 😂 Honourable mention to the time my friend (not the one who nearly beat me in his first ever duel) summon red-eyes black dragon sword a card that would have won him the duel...if he hadn't summoned it whilst only I had any monsters out ironically I was even going easy on him and using a deck that had screwed me over several times in a row and I thought there's no way this friend can lose to this deck yet he found a way to lose to it even when I had a bad opening hand and he had a great one. 😂 Sorry for the REALLY long comment, but I wanted to make sure I had every detail down that I could recall 😂
The reason I quit Yu-Gi-Oh. I was a casual player who played budget decks since LOB. I never dealt with the meta cards. I would open about 8 from each new set. Then trade for what I want. I never had the crazy new expensive card. I came close many times but not quite opening the new chase card. Finally it happened brionac pack fresh 60$. I went to locals with a huge smile. Telling everybody I popped a brionac hoping for big trades to complete my half finished decks. A big group gather around my table offering trades. I picked my trades they were perfect. I was going to complete my lightsworns and x sabers....I look through my cards, no brionac. I start asking people nothing. I report to my locals they reply watch your things better. My round begins I tell my opponent to take the win. I kept looking for 90 minutes. I left i wasted my Saturday. The commute was 2 hours to locals. I quit physicals cards since. I played ygopro for another 3 years.
I have a pretty interesting story. So I went to my first official tournament month or so ago and I’m going to be 100% honest I got my butt handed to me I went against mementoian, snake eyes but my last match was one to remember There I was with my ojama/elemental hero deck (pretty meme worthy deck) so my final match was an unbounded deck I knew from the start I’ll loose. First round I lost without landing a hit on the guys life points but round 2 is where it gets interesting there I was. Ojama king on the field then a bigger block happened. Halfway through the match 2 police officers approached the table they asked “ is one of you [redacted]” my opponent put his hands behind his head turns out he was being investigated for being apart of a grooming gang. This degenerate was hiding from the police but couldn’t resist going to a yugioh tournament. And because he was arrested they signed it as a win for me All hail elemental hero Ojama. Ojama is love. Ojama is life. Ojama protect kids.
"Almighty Protector of the sun and the sky~ I beg of thee, please heed my cry~ Transform thyself from ORB OF LIGHT~ And bring me victory in this fight~ I beseech thee, grace out humble game~ But first I shall...call out thy name! WINGED DRAGON OF RA!!!!"
1:34 I think I remember what that card was, wing of Raw; I saw this video before I just realized. I can't understand how I remember something where I don't remember the other details but other aspects of the video just trigger a memory and I can't explain it.
i have a fairly fun story This happened 2 Years ago. Me (Grif) and 2 of my Local friends (Tobias and Nick) were at the Dutch Nationals, we decided to split the costs to join in on a side event called 3v3. I ran with Eldlich cause i like being annoying sometimes. and before the event started panic struck, i had 3 spots in my side board open and i couldn't find a suitable card. Then i remembered i struck a deal with a good friend of mine to get me the 3 missing cards i needed for Branded in trade for my Salamangreat deck which, was same price and i know i can always play the deck if i wanted to. And that sparked an idea in my head. a Trap card no one played before and in the last minute i decided to add this Trap card to my deck. namely the Continuous Trap Card Non-Fusion Area (save this for later) Rounds 1 lost the mirror, round 2 won against Subterror, round 3 i beat Swordsoul. so i was feeling good going into Round 4. and that's where i faced with a Branded. Branded in that time was still in it's early stages so it didn't have anything like Gimmick Puppet Lock. And that was the moment i was waiting for. i faced the one deck i sided Non-Fusion Area for and after the usual greeting, we roll the dice and i lost the Dice Roll. My Opponent begins and Game 1 he drops pretty much an unbreakable board given i play a deck that's better off going first. So onto game 2 we went and i sided in 9 cards, 3 Waking the Dragons, 3 Curse of Darkness and... my 3 Non-Fusion Area. And as luck would have it, i open 1 of the Non-Fusion Area's and proceeded to win game 2. My opponent looks at the card and slightly irritated goes "Who plays this card". Game 3 comes around and i decided to stick with the game 2 build, just in case. My opponent begins and ends on just a Mirrorjade. My turn, i draw for turn and my hand is fairly decent. i play Pot of Extravagence and draw into the one out i needed. Eldlich The Golden Lord. I pop his Mirror Jade and proceed to set 4 cards, a Curse of Darkness, Scarlet Sanquine, a random card and you guessed it, Non-Fusion Area. Pass turn, my opponent draws into Branded Fusion, activates it and i trigger Non-Fusion Area. The guy sends his Branded Fusion to grave and i trigger my Curse of Darkness. This apparently pushed the last nail in his coffin cause he grabbed his stuff, walked away Angry as can be, not even saying a GG.
my story is about the first time i played in a ycs. My first ycs was at the team ycs in las vegas 2024, and at the time snake eyes was towering over every other deck. My team “weenie hut juniors” was compiled of floo snake eyes and sword soul. I chose it for this ycs since every deck at the time was loosing hard against shifter, so then i played 3 shifter. first round i play against floo and absolutely get stomped by their board and the team was x-1, game 2 i played against snake eyes and i still lost cause i didnt draw shifter nor any engine to play. game three was voiceless branded and i just didnt know how to play against it, the team was x-3 drop. After that my team and I went to go use the bathroom, once i finished up using the bathroom, my friend asked me “wait shaun how old are you again?” “why?” “you can play in dragon duels” “OH FOR REAL?” so after the news is was told i sprinted to the counter for the side events and asked “hi i have two questions. 1 is there dragon duels for today and 2 if so may i sign up?” the answer was yes on both! the bad part was is that…… i needed a guardian/parent to also sign for me. So the child that knows everyone from my local card shop, i decided to ask one the employees that took off of work for the ycs and had him sign for the guardianship for dragon duels. After he signed for my guardianship, i realized i had to fill my deck list out again… im racing the clock writing it down by pen and making sure if i can make it, but thankfully i memorized majority of my list.Tournament starts. thankfully there’s only 3 other kids, they can’t be THAT good right? turns out that all 3 of them flew out to the ycs just for dragon duels… im actually cooked (lol jk i sweaped) game 1 is against fire king horus tri brigade? i nearly start it shit myself because of the fact that everyone’s decks were expensive as shit, at the time rareity one was already out so i bought the cards i played higher rarity. i think my deck costed around 50-60 dollars to make at the time. Everyone else’s deck was damn near triple the price of mine i swear. but thankfully i know how to play sword soul so i win round 1, round 2 though was rough it was hero’s and you may be thinking hero’s isn’t that difficult right? yea but when you open zero handtraps and have zero clue how to play against it, its pretty rough. luckily i remember what draco berserker is and win round 2.round 3 was my biggest weakness. it was branded chimera and i got cooked game 1. game 2 and 3 i just drew the best. drawing shifter and setting imperm and d barrier is awesome tho. in the end i got a medal and prom princess playmat . day 2 i just went again for the free playmat and played finals. the other player that got to finals was the chimera branded player. my hand going second is d shifter, sword soul emergence, heavenly dragon circle and 2 longyuans. i tried to activate the emergence but got followed up with an ash blossom and felt dead inside lol. i activated longyuan pitching longyuan and summon and go straight to barron and the rest was history two zero at finals. but hey i got 2 prom princess playmates and traded one for a snake eyes core
My First TCG Win Story: In October of last year, I started playing yugioh at my local shop. I’ve played the game before (Duel Links) but never in TCG in an actual tournament. So one day I came across a local shop in my area. After finding the shop and when they host their local tournaments I decided I was going to attend the next one. I was going to need a deck. At the time the traptrix structure was freshly released. I don’t have a strong connection to the deck necessarily but I knew it was cheap and that floodgate trap hole is broken if it resolves so why not? After signing up in tournament, I played thru the first 2 rounds pretty fairly even tho I lost. My round 3 was against this guy known in the shop as Yuri. It was my first time meeting this guy so I briefly introduced myself to him and so did he. Yuri had a lisp but besides that everything seemed normal. (That will come back up) I won die roll and started us off. My hand wasn’t too great but i ended on sera and bagooska and passed. Yuri was playing pendulum…. Everything was going good in the first game until I ended up resolving floodgate trap hole on his pendulum summon of 4 monsters. He wasn’t upset about it at first until I passed the turn back to him and he tried to flip the monsters face up on the start of his turn. **For those who don’t know, you can’t change the positions of the monsters that were flipped with floodgate.** But my opponent had a really hard time understanding that even after reading the card. It basically ended up with Yuri getting so visibly and audibly frustrated, that EVERYONE stopped what they were doing to see the scene this guy was causing. With Yuri lisp he was saying, “Your deck fucking sucks! Why does it PLAY SO SLOW! AGHH I CAN GO TAKE A FAT SHIT AND THIS DUEL STILL WOULDNT BE OVER.” If the store owner hadn’t stepped in to calm him down I feared that he would’ve been still ranting to this day. Eventually things calmed back down and we, very awkwardly, played thru that game that I won and the next one which I also won. Awesome my first win in TCG, surely it’s only up from here right? Yuri w after the match continues to rant, very obviously so with how loud he was. Then proceeds to drop out and leave Long story short, I got yelled at for activating floodgate trap. Still got that match win tho
(story submission) me and my friends went to one of the locals in our area for a case tournament. it ended up being a 7 round event. i was playing branded(this was pre puppet lock popularity as expulsion was still pretty new i was running ras deciple and expulsion) as the event progressed i won my first 6 rounds and was sat at table 1 for the final round. me and my opponent both nervously introduced ourselves and exclaimed how we both were suprised to be here. he was a very nice guy, which is unfortunate given what happened in the duel. he won the die roll and picked to go 1st. we drew hands and after spending a few seconds studying his hand, he looks at me and says "thunder dragon effect". and in my mind i was extremely surprised, given collosus was still on the banlist at the time. i allowed him to resolve and he went to search his deck. he procceds to add thunder dragonroar and thunder dragondark to his hand. i see this and am obviously confused. i never played thundra but i knew that wasnt how thunder dragon worked, so i politely ask him to see his card just to make double sure, and then explain he cant do that. he didnt believe me and told me hes been doing it all day. so i of course called the judge, and explained the situation to him. the judge looked confused as fuck, as he knew that wasnt legal. he decided to have a private conversation with him to find out if hes been doing it all day. the guy obviously just made a mistake and a reasonable one id say if u dont know yugioh psct, but the judge gave him a match loss and disqualified him from the tournament. so i won the final match after the hottest tournament run my mostly causal ass has ever had do to my opponent not knowing how psct works. but the funniest part about the whole situation is that he went through 5 whole rounds(one of them against a buddy of mine who id expect to notice that) and NOBODY said ANYTHING. but i won a whole case and pulled 6 ultis(it was the one with zeus) so good day for me, but damn not so much for him.
The problem with wing dragon of ra sphere mode, even if it work correctly does not mean it will guarantee a win, it happen to me a lot, and most situation was not because my opponent got a wing dragon of ra, and also my opponent did not run any link monster that qualify for sphere mode, so it went back to me, but I still lose any way since I did not have all the cards. To make it work find. Sometimes it works fine without all the cards needed and sometimes it work fine with all the card needed, it just base who you play against, and if you have the card to keep going. I double check my last duel and no mater even if I went aggressive with the wing dragon of ra I would still have lose anyway. In my last duel today in Yugioh master duel. it was against a here deck and normally my deck win against hero deck, but this time I lose to the hero deck because I did not have all the card, to make it work. Sometimes it happen. Since I play for fun it did not bother me. Since most other people play for competition if that happen to them they start punshing table really hard out of frustration.
A classic kinda reminds me of running one copy of Ariseheart in Kash format, since you can practically always summon it vs kash if you steal one of their monsters

@@shiningwolfstar_wolfy4377 your friend is a genius secretly. Props to him for that 500 IQ tech
New York regional ? Was the card shop that this happened at happen to be Gamer's Choice?
Nah it was in the middle of no where @Lucario1121
Truly a "Nah I'd Win" moment, incredible
W to Ben. Never doubt him again in Yugioh
this is like carrying a banana in case you get robbed, hoping the guy is allergic to it.
Carry. It’s there is a higher chance they will be allergic to it
Nuts
And then the one time he got robbed, the robber was actually allergic to a banana.
lol
*puts banana peel on floor*
This is why i run lava golem instead, you'll never know when you'll duel one of marik's distant cousins
Only downside of Lava Golem is you can't normal summon the turn you use it.
Sphere Mode can be used with Free-Range Monsters, hilariously enough.
As a Winged Dragon of Ra deck player, the amount of times this has happened is rare, but the reactions are hilarious.
more like almost non-existence
Honestly if I lost too top deck Ra, I wouldn't be mad, annoyed yes, mad no, I'd be impressed.
@@Geese3 It doesn't need to be top decked.
Actual main character moment.
Literally Yugi’s “my grandfather’s deck HAS no useless cards Kaiba!”
It's all fun and games until your opponent summon Mega Ultra Chicken
NO!
He is... *legend!*
Then the opponent not knowing plays Winged Dragon of RA 😆
I play... windup kitten?
I could hear “the wrath of god” playing in my head once i heard him say “I activate Sphere Mode’s effect”
Saw this comment... immediately looked up God's Anger, cue'd to that point, played video, played God's Anger
You mean god's anger by any chance?
I played "The Dark Power" from Beyblade Metal Fusion just to imagine the guy's reaction morph to shock by saying "Don't tell me... the entire duel up to now was to force a Sphere Mode unlock?!"
I was thinking "Roar of The Jungle Dragon"
"his opponent had reduced his life to 4000 already" k....
"His opponent declared the summon of Sphere Mode" wait-!
for this specific case, I´d legit remember the fucking chant, just to rub it in before slamming down Ra
Imagine not summoning Scapegoat during BP and getting wiped by his own tech and their monster "secret effect"
I mean when you’re staring a card that never sees common play down, you tend to panic and act irrationally
Bro that sounds like something straight from the anime tbh, imagine Joey playing Scapgoat and Marik being like "I never told you about Ra's 3rd ability"
It looks like Ben knew the secret chant to unlock the power of his opponent’s The Winged Dragon of Ra -Sphere Mode.
A Monarch main, fucking based
I do a bit of slifer, exodia in my monarch with precious cards from beyond in paper and master duel
I imagine the freaking grin in his face before going "I FREAKING SUMMON RA"
As his opponent just stares at the board and his face like "Wha? What? How? Why?" And completely panics because they didn't expect something like that to happen (tbh, who would expect that?)
funnily enough though, when sphere mode was released, it was one of the most popular cards around and this was around that time period, so there was not a "zero" percent chance of it happening... but really? XD
“I FREAKING SUMMON” is my favorite line to say 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly surprised he didn't ask a judge for a deck check. XD
It would have been funnier if this guy did the Winged Dragon of Ra chant before summoning Ra
That would have been legendary.
Great chicken of the sky hear my cry!
Arise Chicken, Arise. Arise chicken arise.
Arise. Arise chicken.
I would've had the theme music on standby just for this moment.
It's not a monster...
It's a GOD
Casual MtG player here: I love this kind of deck tech. Running a card that is borderline or even completely unplayable, but perfectly answers a threat that your opponent might have. :)
I still remember years ago having a Green-White deck (with a splash of Black) and running a Black/Red card that really did nothing for my combo.
Ah the good ol' salty MtG quit-out
Never gets old.
Yep. We know Ben. We hang out every week or two. That man has more lore than you can handle...
I'm about to put this god card in my side deck cause holy fuck. Marik would be proud of a move like that
Bens' the protaginist, heart of the cards activated.
Ben did what's called a pro gamer move
Bruh, that was crazy. Crystron and RA? Ok this guy must’ve gotten a standing ovation or something for something so bizarre but it works very well. What looked like a brick turned into THIS miracle.
Dog, there were my friend and I yelling in excitement and the dudes 4 friends standing in awe as ben signed the slip and walked off without saying a word, it was like a fever dream
@@shiningwolfstar_wolfy4377 then your friend was an absolute genius
Ben had THE Yugioh moment
Literally a “my grandpa’s deck has no pathetic cards. But it does have this!” moment 😂
OMG I did something similar far more recently.
One of my friends hit me with a sphere mode in my Egyptian God deck.
When I siad "Activate Sphere mode" they said. "Oh your just gonna link it off, understandable."
"I summon RA, from my Deck!!!" My friend: "Wow..."
If you're playing against an Egyptian God deck and they use your own sphere mode against you that's your fault, you played yourself.
@@AdaptiveReasoning - AGREED!
Though in this situation: I am the one with the Egyptian God deck and I used there sphere mode to summon my RA.
Making someone rage quit in person is diabolical behavior!!!!
The craziest part is teching an anti sphere mode in a tier 0 infested environment of zoo that typically ends on one monster, making sphere mode one of the worst board breakers. Dude really said but it'd be funny if it works and got rewarded lol.
The dude literally became Yami Marik in that Moment.
This is absolutely wild, I love these yugioh moments that make the tcg feel so much like the animes
Absolute weirdness. Letting a sphere sit there like a unstable nuclear bomb and the protagonist has a Winged Dragon of Ra in the deck like lighting the fuse.
That's EMOTIONAL DAMAGE 🗿🗿
But why he put Ra in his deck? To counter the egg?
Simply? Yes 😅😂
Lowkey this story is so big brain it hurts
That’s the most anime moment I’ve heard of in real life yugioh
Running the winged dragon of ra for something so specific, that's gangster.
Hiya loom! I have a story (it's my literal only interesting thing that happened in an event.)
It was in peak tear ishizu format, I was queuing against- guess what? The turn went the following:
Activate E Tele
Summon out M-05
Get impermed
Mutant special summons
Get solemned (-4000)
Normal ST-46
Add expansion
Set expansion and crossout pass
Over the next turn I draw macro cosmos, attack then set pass then I'm left I 900LP before they pass again (they really bricked like it was kitt pass) So what do I do? I activate crossout designator, banishing a myutant beast then chaining cry to use the banished card to summon out synthesis, I pop their kitkalos, it gets banished because I chain my macro cosmos and then they gamma me. I chain synthesis to become unaffected by monster effects and I swing for game.
I didn't end up winning the event but that was my best duel ive ever played. I now vow never to touch myutant again.
That is an absolute W. How did you go for lethal though? Synthesis has 2400ATK
@@NibiruthePrimalBeing-xw6qy they were on tear punk so they payed quite a bit and also I think it's 2500
These Yu-Gi-Oh stories are just peak entertainment
Moral of the story, don't panic and don't tilt.
to be fair, if this happened to you, wouldn't YOU forget about RA's second effect as well? imagine if it were sleifer, that funny card that destroys any monster summoned with 2000 or less attack? XD
Haven't played the game in years but stumbled onto the channel, funny to hear those stories.
This really feels like the moment where Yugi gave Joey time Wizard only to bait him and put Dark Sage in his own deck xD
I literally hollered in my house during the plot twist. That's fucking funny bro
If he read the chant then this moment will be legendary 😂😂😂
Ben truly got the Heart of the Cards. XD
Hi I've got a story from a regional in Dreieich germany (September 2023)
For a long while now i've tried to make furhire playable with varying amounts of success. with the release of the runic cards the deck had finally become playable and even meta relevant alongside the spright engine... but since i was stubborn i refused to play it and just went with "pure" furhire runic which enables a few neat playes but is overall still probably objectively worse.
There! The last of your resources are gone! Now whatever I draw next turn will... why are you chanting?
Ben was in his Yami Marik villain arc.
…… ya know this genuinely is a dream of mine if I ever try competitive Yugioh
The true definition of EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
dude walked out thinkin he shoulda played lava golem😂
If this was a common meta card, he literally is the King of Games for siding in a counter.
Bro activate destiny draw irl when his lp still at >4k 💀
actually he didnt even need to draw it. Since sphere mode can summon it from the deck either way.
Zoodiac player: Play your last pathetic card
Crystron player: My deck has no pathetic card, but I it does contain Mega Ultra Chicken!
What he did with that egg was "Fuck around, find out" Yugioh edition 😂
AS SOON as you mentioned Sphere Mode I was like, "NO FUCKIN WAY NO FUUUUCCCKKKINNNN WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY"
IRL 3.0 from Loom himself bout "cheaters"
Great beast of the sky, please hear my cry!
When you called it a bait, I thought for a moment he was bluffing the Ra to bait out a negate before playing what he actually drew.
Duel links f2p would love this story
This is why you believe in the heart of the cards.
would have been the perfect moment to use the RA chant.
Whilst I don't remember every card in the deck (keep in mind, EDOPRO has the option to disable forbidden/limited list and even use cards exclusive to the anime and manga) but some notable cards I had were:
Monsters:
Fire princess
Bowganian
White Knight dragon
Blood Mefiest
Lava Golem (ironically, I never actually drew it 😂)
Giant germ (3X)
Dark Lord Merie (3X)
Amabel
Golden ladybug
Protector of the lost sanctuary
Dark Lord nurse
And a single set of exodia
Spell cards:
Spell Absorbtion
Dark room of nightmare
Emergency provisions
Pot of greed (3X)
Graceful charity (2X)
Messenger of peace
Cauldron of the old man (though previously before it was realised I had poison of the old man)
Final countdown
Double summon
Card destruction
Hand destruction
Anime card of sanctity (rarely drawn)
Wonder balloons
Dealings with the dark world
And a spell exclusive to the manga that allowed both players to draw 3 cards
Trap cards:
Solemn wishes
Nightmare wheel
Wall of disruption
Gravity bind
Mirror wall
Magic cylinder
Magic cylinders (once it was made)
Mirror force
Mirror force launcher
Reckless greed
Drop off (3X)
Gift voucher (3X)
And a few traps that can be summoned as monsters for extra defence.
Before I get into the time I unintentionally assembled exodia, I'll quickly go over the decks main combo:
Opening hand: 6 cards sometimes 7 rather than 5
- summon fire princess and play Spell Absorbtion and dark room of nightmare increasing my life points by 500 and dealing 800 to my opponent
- play Double summon to bowganian, Spell Absorbtion, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again
Play pot of greed and draw 2 Opening combo happens again ideally the cards drawn are both graceful charity, Opening combo activates
- play both graceful charities to draw 6 and discard 4 (to get dark Lord meries in the graveyard). Opening combo activates twice more
Right off the bat, I've increased my life points by 2500 and inflicted 4000 damage to my opponent, and the set isn't even finished yet 😂
- play messenger of peace, opening combo activates again.
If I have it from graceful charity (though this rarely happens), play final countdown, opening combo activates again.
- play emergency previsions to destroy Spell Absorbtion, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again
Set solemn wishes and gravity bind face down.
Ironically, Ash Blossom was rarely an issue for this deck, and the few times it showed up, it rarely, if ever affected by strategy in a negative way enough, that garentied my Loss.
Before the start of my next turn, I reveal solemn wishes:
- I draw and solemn wishes gives me 500 life points, fire princess and dark room of nightmare activate again.
And all it costs me to keep this combo alive is 100 life points to keep messenger of peace out (2100 if I get Mirror wall instead of Gravity bind) mirror wall is mostly there in the rare case of a lv3 or lower monster with 1300- 1450 attack
Anyway, finally onto the unintentional exodia win:
It was a standard 6 card opening hand duel I don't remember my exact hand but I had drawn pot of greed and I had 1 piece of exodia in my hand.
This was common as usually, even when I got multiple draw based cards, I'd be lucky to even get 2 pieces of exodia all duel 😂
I play pot of greed and get Gravity bind and another piece of exodia.
Somehow, the games auto deck shuffle had not only placed 4 exodia pieces on top of each other but had placed them only like 6 or 7 cards away from the piece that was in my starting hand (the piece in my starting hand was the 2nd card of the 6) 😂
My opponent was a good sport about it and we had a second duel which I lost without drawing a single piece of exodia 😂
To this day that was in my top 5 craziest duels others include:
- the time I was stalemate locked against a magician girl deck whilst using Ais ignister deck (my opponent actually almost decked out that's how long we were locked in a stalemate for 😂)
- the time a blue eyes spamming moron accused me of cheating because they didn't read the card text of Vijam the cubic seed and just kept attacking FACE UP vijams with different blue eyes cards seriously 1 check of the text and they'd of seen vijam cannot be destroyed in battle 😂
- the time a friend of mine almost beat me in his first ever duel (I wasn't even holding back and he learned how to play just by watching me duel once without me wben realising he was watching the duel 😂)
- and the time I lost when my opponent had 0 life points left due to an immortal combo they assembled with relay soul and a monster that tributes itself thus going to the graveyard without triggering the side effect of relay soul 😂
Honourable mention to the time my friend (not the one who nearly beat me in his first ever duel) summon red-eyes black dragon sword a card that would have won him the duel...if he hadn't summoned it whilst only I had any monsters out ironically I was even going easy on him and using a deck that had screwed me over several times in a row and I thought there's no way this friend can lose to this deck yet he found a way to lose to it even when I had a bad opening hand and he had a great one. 😂
Sorry for the REALLY long comment, but I wanted to make sure I had every detail down that I could recall 😂
If you don't like traditional Exodia Decks, what do you think of the new support that's trying to do something different with him?
Cryston casually being ahead of its time
I dream of pulling this off someday. I always keep a copy of both Ra's in my deck just in case.
Man, i truly feel that. Had a friend whose deck was stolen.
This is such a cool story to hear. Thanks for shouting out Ben!
What can I say ? That is Crystron-not-so-Crystron-but-still power !
This series randomly came up on my recommended but throughly enjoying the stories ! Cant wait for more
I have a pretty interesting story.
So I went to my first official tournament month or so ago and I’m going to be 100% honest I got my butt handed to me I went against mementoian, snake eyes but my last match was one to remember
There I was with my ojama/elemental hero deck (pretty meme worthy deck) so my final match was an unbounded deck I knew from the start I’ll loose.
And because he was arrested they signed it as a win for me
All hail elemental hero Ojama. Ojama is love. Ojama is life. Ojama protect kids.
He was just heading to the shadow realm with Yami marik waiting
I did the exact same thing in 2019 and got called dumb for it too. The exact same thing happened
Kendrick was off playing some golf killed me 😂
Woo let's go! Don't get many finishes like that any more.
"Almighty Protector of the sun and the sky~
I beg of thee, please heed my cry~
Transform thyself from ORB OF LIGHT~
And bring me victory in this fight~
I beseech thee, grace out humble game~
But first I shall...call out thy name!
WINGED DRAGON OF RA!!!!"
1:34 I think I remember what that card was, wing of Raw; I saw this video before I just realized. I can't understand how I remember something where I don't remember the other details but other aspects of the video just trigger a memory and I can't explain it.
i have a fairly fun story
This happened 2 Years ago. And that sparked an idea in my head. a Trap card no one played before and in the last minute i decided to add this Trap card to my deck. namely the Continuous Trap Card Non-Fusion Area (save this for later)
Rounds 1 lost the mirror, round 2 won against Subterror, round 3 i beat Swordsoul. so i was feeling good going into Round 4. and that's where i faced with a Branded.
When someone says winged dragon of ra is a dookie card... wtf has happened to muh yugioh XD
my story is about the first time i played in a ycs. After that my team and I went to go use the bathroom, once i finished up using the bathroom, my friend asked me “wait shaun how old are you again?”
“why?”
“you can play in dragon duels”
“OH FOR REAL?”
so after the news is was told i sprinted to the counter for the side events and asked
“hi i have two questions. 1 is there dragon duels for today and 2 if so may i sign up?”
the answer was yes on both! the bad part was is that…… i needed a guardian/parent to also sign for me.
My First TCG Win Story:
In October of last year, I started playing yugioh at my local shop. (That will come back up)
I won die roll and started us off.
Then proceeds to drop out and leave
Long story short, I got yelled at for activating floodgate trap. Still got that match win tho
that dude was so mad lol, nice one ben
Ben just heart of the cards that win and I was completely invested in that.
Lol The comeback is real
(story submission)
me and my friends went to one of the locals in our area for a case tournament. it ended up being a 7 round event. i was playing branded(this was pre puppet lock popularity as expulsion was still pretty new i was running ras deciple and expulsion) as the event progressed i won my first 6 rounds and was sat at table 1 for the final round. me and my opponent both nervously introduced ourselves and exclaimed how we both were suprised to be here. he was a very nice guy, which is unfortunate given what happened in the duel. he won the die roll and picked to go 1st. we drew hands and after spending a few seconds studying his hand, he looks at me and says "thunder dragon effect". and in my mind i was extremely surprised, given collosus was still on the banlist at the time. i allowed him to resolve and he went to search his deck. he procceds to add thunder dragonroar and thunder dragondark to his hand. i see this and am obviously confused. i never played thundra but i knew that wasnt how thunder dragon worked, so i politely ask him to see his card just to make double sure, and then explain he cant do that. he didnt believe me and told me hes been doing it all day. so i of course called the judge, and explained the situation to him. the judge looked confused as fuck, as he knew that wasnt legal. he decided to have a private conversation with him to find out if hes been doing it all day. the guy obviously just made a mistake and a reasonable one id say if u dont know yugioh psct, but the judge gave him a match loss and disqualified him from the tournament. so i won the final match after the hottest tournament run my mostly causal ass has ever had do to my opponent not knowing how psct works. but the funniest part about the whole situation is that he went through 5 whole rounds(one of them against a buddy of mine who id expect to notice that) and NOBODY said ANYTHING. but i won a whole case and pulled 6 ultis(it was the one with zeus) so good day for me, but damn not so much for him.
SMIGER JUMPSCARE
When bro that only plays Table 500 Jank cooks
That was something. I knew it had to be Ra when you got to the Sphere mode
I thought it was going to be a card that reacts to an effect activation but Ra is way better XD
A classic
kinda reminds me of running one copy of Ariseheart in Kash format, since you can practically always summon it vs kash if you steal one of their monsters
Bro literally has the biggest main character energy.
This is one of the craziest hyper specific niche situations ever
Welp my watching this video is mandatory since my die-hard fav archetype is crystron. Keep doing these videos Loom! ❤ 💯
His opponent was cooking eggs but Ben was cooking with the oil of Ra 😂
Personally, if i were hit with that huge countermove i’d be laughing my arse off because who would have expected such a change XD
>me who plays a single copy of Ra in my Aroma deck for emotional support, but Christmas just came early
This gonna be good.
Oh man, the opponent just got jabaited HARD in this format 🤣🤣🤣🤣
