I have a story to share.
The time period is a while after Battle of Chaos’s release. Everyone who thought they were the man at my locals was playing either Branded or D/D/D.
One funny Saturday locals I decided to bring the new jank brew I had cooked up for less then twenty dollars in Yosenju. The deck that’s whole goal was summon a few dudes bounce your cards and pray to god you get in for game. I was not on the best build for the deck by a long shot this was when I was unemployed and a high school student so I didn’t even have ash blossoms yet.
The first two rounds of the locals actually had gone decent not a lot of people expect you to say going second after winning the dice roll in branded despia format. I was going into round three on a nice 2-0 win loss.
I say down from my opponent for the purpose of this story we shall call them Declan after the person who uses D/D/D in the anime.
He had come to this locals for a while now had the reputation of taking locals a bit too seriously. He had also had some times where people said he had cheated before but I never saw it.
Declan had that type of vibe to him the one that you knew if he was riding high or livid at the game based on his movements. Going in I could tell he was riding high he was 2-0 like me and was talking all day about how he was one of the best D/D/D players.
Game 1 was decent I had barely managed to inch out a win with a last minute draw of Yosenju Oroshi Channeling. A card that either lets me set two pend scales for free from deck or add a level 5 or higher Yosenju. The card allowing me to get the scales I needed for a massive pend summon of three Mayosenju Hitot which bounced three cards and proceeded to gain 4500 attack due to its none once per chain effect to make all Yosenju monsters gain 500 for each card bounced off the field.
Game 2 he went first again and demolished me i barely could get anything done and game 2 ended with a crushing loss on my end. This round win I feel made Declan think that game one was a fluke and he had this in the bag no problem.
Game 3 and the big moment of this story. I decided to go second and my god my hand in terms of OTK ability was amazing as long as my opponent didn’t stop to much.
    Yosenju Oroshi Channeling
    Kama 3
    Yosenju sabu
    Mayosenju Daibak
And a second copy of channeling
Declan gets his opening hand on turn 1 looks at me with the cockiest smile he could and says “Pass turn”
I look at him asking if he is sure and he says yes.
    My turn goes as follows.
Draw into called by the grave.
Activate channeling 1 to add a copy of Yosenju oyam just in case
Activate the second channeling to set scales from deck for free
Summon Kama 3 and use him to summon sabu
Sabu adds another copy of daibak
I pend summon the two daibak using one to bounce back my scales so they aren’t destroyed.
When I try to enter battle to swing at his board of nothing for lethal Declan goes “Activate Nibiru” I look at him for a moment and go “you can’t that was only 4 summons”
He then looks at me and the board and with the most pissed off face says “Proceed”
I swing for game and win the match 2-1 Declan proceeds to drop his hand revealing the nibiru and full combo. He could have set up a full board but just didn’t. He then proceeded to pack his bag and walk out of the store not even telling the owner he’s dropping.
The next week he goes into the stores discord and says he’s quitting yugioh because it “isn’t fun at the casual level anymore”
I read that message and thought I might have caused a man to stop playing Yugioh by playing Yosenju.
That’s my story probably not gonna get a video but felt like sharing it.
Edit: well this has become my most popular comment ever it seems. Thanks for that guys I really hope this gets a video now and if it does I don’t know I’ll make a deck list of the Yosenju deck as a meme and share it.

Alright, I've got a story for you all. Gather round, gather round:
The year was 2023 at the Sydney YCS. Tearlament format is in full swing, the deck at full power, and me and some friends decided to go to our first YCS ever. I decided not to use Tearlament or the upcoming deck Kashtira and chose to play Crystal Beasts. I'll be completely honest, I never thought I'd end up taking this deck to such a high-level event, but one of my best qualities as a duelist was unpredictability. So fast forwarding to Round 5, i was 4-1, having done, surprisingly well beating Tearlament, Madolche, and Purrley with my only loss to Kashtira. So i was chilling. Round 5 was announced, and i sat at my table waiting for my opponent to arrive. Some friends were down the other end of the table, and they were nervous. In turn, i was starting to feel the pressure as this is my first YCS. Then, after about 2 minutes of waiting, my opponent arrived, and to my utter shock, it was an elderly man. I started having some small talk with the old man and he was very nice. He told me his grandsin had gotten him into Yugioh, and he was excited to be playing his collection of cards he has had since the start of the game. So we started our game, and he won the dice roll electing to go first. He started playing some odd cards like reload and sangan. After linking away his Sangan, he searched his deck for a left arm of Exodia. I. Was. Panicking. There is no way i was going to lose to an old man with Exodia... the two guys next to us said, "Damn, you got paired up against Grandpa Muto." After some time, the old man ended his turn having searched his deck for 3 pieces with 2 cards face-down. I drew for turn and started going all out trying to summon my strongest card, Ultimate Crystal Rainbow Dragon Overdrive. But alas, I was short one Crystal Beast. So i decided to at least do some damage. I tried swinging with Sapphire Pegasus only to be met with a Mirror Force. That hurt a lot. I had no choice but to end my turn. The old man draws a card, sighs, and passes to me. This is it, my chance to take back this game. I drew a card, and it's the Crystal Beast i was missing this entire time, Amethyst Cat. I normal summon it and summon my Rainbow Dragon with there being 7 Crystal Beasts on the field and gy. I then banish all of them to summon my Ultimate Crystal Rainbow Dragon Overdrive. I go to battle and attack. On the attack declaration, the old man flips up a Magic Cylinder. The duelists beside us cheered in excitement. I quickly activate the effect of my Ultimate Crystal Rainbow Dragon, tributing it to summon back 5 Crystal Beasts dodging the Cylinders. I swing in for the last bit of damage and win the game. Game 2 was very similar, but i ended up winning the match 2-0. After signing the match slips, the old man and I started having a very nice conversation for the next 10 minutes, waiting for the rest of the matches to finish. Once time was called in the round, we shook hands and parted ways from there. I ran back to tell my friends what just happened, and they didn't believe me at first until the grandson ran up to me and thanked me for being nice to his grandpa as that was the best duel he's ever had. I unfortunately didn't make it to day 2 with a 6-3 record, but i didn't care. After that, i was filled with more determination to do better and eventually make it to day 2 at a YCS.
So that's my story. Just thought we could use a more wholesome story after today's insight into the dark side of the duelist.

Reminder that there are 3 Normal Summon type
    1. Modify Base Normal Summon
This modify your Normal Summon from 1 to specified number. Only the highest will apply. Example: Floo Snowl, Morganite, Double Summon, etc.
    2. Additional Normal Summon on specific monster
You special summon Dark Beckoning Beast, then proceed to Normal Summon Samsara D Lotus.
    Result (in Master Duel).
    • DBB effect used automatically, meaning your base normal summon is not used.
    • If you have Madolche Salon as well, you *cannot* use its normal summon effect, so you have to use your base normal summon to NS Madolche monster.
Example Card: DBB, Salon, Balancer Lord, Photon Emperor, Scrap Raptor, etc.
    3. Perform Normal Summon.
This action can be done as many times as you like, without using any of two above. However, it is usually limited by the card that grants you this.
Example: Ultimate Offering, Blackwing Simoon, Soul Energy Max GY effect, Cynet Optimization, etc.

I remember a small story from the store I play pokemon TCG at. So this kid (aged 13 or 14) was competing and we (Me and the regulars) have played him before and knew he was a trash talker. This was during the Expanded format where older, and more broken cards, were available so the kid built a deck around Dialga Vstar and Dialga GX. The goal of this deck was to get both your dialgas set up, and use both their moves that say "your opponent is forced to skip their next turn". I was playing this kid and knew he was a trash talker and endured it for the match, i was using a standard deck which had no older cards so i was at a disadvantage. During this game the kid would tell me how to play my deck and i was playing wrong and the cards i was using were for "pussies". I admit i was using a card called "path to the peak" which stopped most pokemon from having an ability. Regardless the kid tried to use an ability which was blocked and i told him so, the insults came rolling in but for a minute or 2 before he realised his setup was stopped. He passes the turn and i take the final knock out to win the game.
It's not an interesting story in the slightest but the best part was the kid is a deck copier and had copied the deck from someone else and called it "bad" when he lost with it.

Story time!: So from 2010-2012 I had been playing YuGiOh in multiple local tournaments and had gotten to know the community pretty well. In 2010, a friend I made playing at a local shop managed to convince me to participate in a regional being hosted by a mall just an hour away. This was both our first time time going to a large event. I entered with a lightsworn deck. At the event, everything was great until the 3rd match, when the opponent who sat across from me grabbed my attention and the attention of the guy next to him. This dude was morbidly obese. So much so the guy to his right had to scoot his chair awkwardly away. The man had a shaved head, a noticeably lazy eye, which was looking into space, and the smell - oh man. The smell. This dude smelled like a can of ravioli pasta that was left in the sun all day, then started growing new forms of life over night. I immediately wanted to quit, but knew I'd definitely be mad later if I did. The man ran Heroes and would respond very slow to everything. I cannot remember what his exact board was when this last turn occurred, just that I didn't understand why he would enter the battle phase and attack my wulf when he did. He definitely had more work he could do in mp1. I asked him "attack declared correct?" He said "yes."
    "Damage step?"
    "Yes"
I honest. He stares at the table and goes "cancel attack. Mp2."
I stopped him to say you cannot do that. He insists he can in a back and forth. I notice at this point the duels next to us had already cleared out and left their seats. This was weird since every other duelists remained at their seats to pass time in this crowded event. I called over a judge and waited while this dude stared at me with his 1 good eye. His smell seemingly strengthening. By the time the judge showed up I had ready just scooped and walked off to escape. The smell wasn't worth it, even if I was right. This was on match 1, that's how bad this dude smelled.
    I held no regrets.

I have a really good one, it’s a bit long.
I believe it was year 2008-2009? Mass driver just got banned. Ronintoadin was released and everyone was still playing black wings, lightsworn, chaos control or some variant of the sort. It was a regional in the Bay Area; I believe San Jose can’t remember. I was local good player in dublin to a shop called who’s on first. (Now called galaxy games) I would do decent at the locals I went too, not really placing in the top but sometimes going 2-1 or 3-1 on big turnouts. I always played off meta or budget decks. I was a mass driver player with all the FTK craze, once it got banned I still played frogs and switched mass driver for wetlands and solidarity. Pure frogs with ronintoadin. So my deck was filter out and dump frogs into graveyard then pump them up with 2000atk play a level limit area b or gravity bind and slowly destroy all the cards on my opponents board. Uni frog and submarine frog being the key hitters other than swap frog. Unifrog being able to blow up back row from dealing LP damage and submarine frog having piercing damage. Mirror force was at one and quite expensive. But I had a plan and oversight that most people didn’t catch onto. You see, I had ways to protect my frogs even if I got Judgement dragon or torrential or any other board wipes. I’d run starlight road for heavy storm, then next turn compulsory stardust or use swap frog to return him to the extra deck; to keep solidarity active. Froggy forcefield which was mirror force for frogs and aegis of the ocean dragon lord which protected my aqua monsters to keep full combo. I would lock my opponents with dupe frog lock or substitoad and dupe frog if I got behind.
So come the regional a long 8-9 rounds of grinding. I happened to make it pretty easily through most decks. 3 black wings, 2 lightsworn, one dark world, and one rouge deck. Then comes round 8 for me to get to top 48. I’m about 16 at the time and my opponent is a full grown adult with a laptop case for his decks and cards. My guess would be late 20’s early 30’s. He was on chaos control or some variant of light and dark for chaos sorcerer. The match proceeds as normal. We exchange names, wait for time, roll die, I win and go first. I start with a basic swap frog combo and my opponent immediately calls a judge over. My only response is to sigh. This had already happened 3 times as my opponent’s think I’m playing the FTK combo with mass driver that recently got banned. The judges come over see that it’s me. My opponent asks to have my deck checked for any illegal cards; in which the judge (who I already knew from me being a judge and him coming over more than once) looked at the guy and laughed. He said and I quote, “He is good. He has no illegal cards in his deck and he is also a judge who cannot do judge calls in this game. But clearly knows how to play his deck and how to play the game. Is there anything else I can do for you sir?” My opponent didn’t like that answer nor the laugh. He proceeded to get red in the head and shake in anger, replying reluctantly; “No we can continue thank you.”
The match went as you’d guess. I combo off first game he tries to mill himself with charge of the light brigade and whiffs of lightsworn monsters to play, getting ryko , setting ryko facedown, two back row and passing. I drew salvage dumped subsitoad to special swap frog, get submarine frog, use salvage and proceed to have a full board with full combo. Wetlands on the field solidarity already on the field. I attack, my opponent smirks and uses mirror force. I just smile back and flip up aegis of the ocean dragonlord in response. He didn’t know this card, but the smile on his face went to anger very quickly. Then we proceeded with damage step and he blew up wetlands with ryko effect. I did LP damage. Passed after returning swap frog. He drew and scooped. Game 2. He goes first gets Chaos sorcerer, two back row, wulf, and lyla on the field before passing. I draw, I play moray of greed, putting unifrog and dupe frog back in the deck and drawing 3. I had kept swap frog and salvage in my hand. Drew substitoad and wetlands. My smile crept up. Cuz I knew the third card had to be any frog or removal of back row and I win. It was heavy storm. So I heavy storm first. Do the combo end on submarine frog, swap frog, substitoad and dupe frog. I had the game. My opponent clearly getting more hot and red grunted and cursed nonstop to himself. Drew his card he stalled out for two more turns tried to JD, I hit him with starlight road. He got rid of wetlands with MST, I summoned unifrog to dwindle his life points slowly and then he get another Wulf and attacks, I respond with froggy forcefield.
That’s when he just stood up, pointed at me, asked how much my deck costs. I answer like the smart teenager I am. “With or without mirror force?” Mirror force being the most expensive card in my deck besides starlight road and stardust. He yelled, WITH!” My response with a smart ass attitude and smile, “About 50 bucks” He screamed in anger, grabbed the bottom of the table and flipped it in my face. Keep in mind their were other players on our table, a full Matt covering the table and deck boxes and flasks/water bottles, dice and deck boxes. I just stood there for a second to process what just happened. All the people next to us looked confused at my opponent. I remembered that I was a judge at that moment. So I stood up, went to the head judge and told him the situation. He got escorted out. Yelling about how his $300-$400 shouldn’t lose to some dumbass frogs. I just laugh, apologize to the other players. Get the table situated and make top 48 as the only pure frog player. There was froggy monarchs and one hero frog deck.
After that day I quit Yugioh for about 11 years and decided to never be a judge again if I come back and make sure to know the players before I enter another tournament. Til this day I tell this story. Also for story purposes you can use my real name Nicco or you can use my tag Senpai Jello.

No idea if it is a worthwhile story, but back in the height of DEUA format, I was playing primarily U.A. - was very active in the pojo boards for the U.A. strategy thread as I was the one who was running it at the time. At our locals, I think it was round 1 or 2, I end up going against this guy who just sets 1 and passes.
I draw and basically decide to go ham for no reason - Activate U.A. Stadium, normal Midfielder, Stadium effect to search Dreadnought Dunker, Dunker effect to Summon itself - stadium boosts 500, equip with Powered Jersey from hand to boost another 1k and attack the face down with double piercing battle damage. Shaddoll Dragon is destroyed and when he tries to activate Flip effect to remove my monster, I explain how Powered Jersey works and that it was instantly game on the attack.
So we go to game 2 and both of us sided hard into floodgates - and unlike half the time when I did that, I actually saw mine. I went first and setup either U.A. Perfect Ace or Blockbacker, I don't remember but it was a standard turn 1 U.A. monster at the time - and 2 backrow.
Opponent goes and activates Shaddoll Fusion - I chain Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell and pitch a 2nd Stadium from hand. They set a monster and card and pass. I draw, normal Midfielder again and try to search when opponent activates Mistake. I simply swap Midfielder for the other defensive monster I didn't have to end on Blockbacker and Perfect Ace, set 1 and pass.
He goes and flips Squamata to target Perfect Ace, I chain Shadow Imprisoning Mirror. He sets another monster and passes with 2 more set cards. The game continued like this for 40 more minutes or so of set pass draw, eventually with him having 5 monsters either flipped or set and 5 backrow, of which Mistake and Lose 1 Turn are face up, and me having all defensive monsters - 2 perfect ace, 2 blockbacker and 1 goalie (unreasonably afraid of something like Mirror Force that they cannot response to) and 4 back row.
Opponent tries to gentleman's agreement me to have us both just send a floodgate apiece to GY and not activate the same thing for the rest of the duel. I'm immediately like "Nope" cause I know I have game once I finally HARD FREAKING DRAW U.A. MIGHTY SLUGGER >.> but also have a 2nd set Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell (for El Shaddoll) and another Shadow Imprisoning Mirror and just don't want to give him backrow space for something that is a threat. Eventually draw the Slugger, tribute a Blockbacker for it, equip with Jersey, attack twice to destroy 2 monsters, and swap out for Midfielder. He draws and sets 1. I tribute a Goalie and repeat the process and he scoops on the next turn.
This ended up being both the shortest and longest duel I've ever had, probably in that store's history considering game 1 took less than a minute and game 2 took upwards of 45

When you normal summon a madolche monster while salon is face up on the field, you are given the option of whether you want to normal summon, or use the effect of salon to normal summon. The effect of salon still has to be declared. On Dueling book, I have to declare that I'm using the effect of salon to normal summon just in case it gets negated or leaves the field.
It's just little nuances such as this that makes the game nearly unplayable in real time unless using a emulator.

I thought this story was gonna be completely different based on the thumbnail.
So I'll tell a story about someone touching my cards.
I played MTG Commander. I play Slivers. My deck at one point was well over 1k in price. Who knows now with price drops.
I'm very careful with my cards, and every other card that enters my hand. Even if they're bulk.
I almost punched a guy in the face for trying to bridge shuffle my deck after a Sliver search.
But as I reared my first back we both stopped. I apologized and said I can't believe I reacted that quickly. And he said, "Oh, do you not shuffle like this? It's faster and more efficient."... He didn't know bending cards could damage them.
That was years ago. Like maybe 7 years ago?
Well earlier this year I was playing at my local nerd store. Commander Pod of 4. I knew 1 of the players, and of the other 2 I could tell player 4 was disliked based on listening in on interactions throughout the day.
I'm playing my Slivers Deck (I have many decks, I just whip out Slivers when people are playing high level). Player 4 has long, gross, finger nails.
I eventually play the Sliver Queen and say "Does anyone have any Creature or Enchant counter spells? Because if you don't, I win this turn."
Player 4, who has been tapping on everyone's cards when asking about or talking about them, reaches towards the Sliver Queen.
I assume he's gonna tap, so I hold back. He picks her up, and is tightly holding her, scrunching the corner.
I reach toward my card. He pulls back and say "Hold on, how do you win?? Is this a stupid infinite?"
Me: Give me my card. -takes card back- Yes, I'm gonna go infinite. Also, don't touch my cards again. I'll read them to you if you have questions about them.
I then went to play Mana Echoes, got countered and lost before my next turn due to Lab Maniac, lol.
Player 4 stopped coming to the store due to no one wanting to play him.

My deck was based around Future Fusion into Five-Headed Dragon to dump everything needed to the graveyard tso I could Synchro into Trident Dragion and destroy the Future Fusion and Dragon Ravine to attack three times. After doing this my opponent, who I called Stinky because of his poor personal hygiene, threw his cards at me, told me I was just “luck sacking” and had no real talent as a duelist or deck builder. Game 2 was him desperately trying to out my Terror Incarnate (because paired with Nightmare Throne, I was floating into both Ultimate Nightmare and Yubel) and Nightmare Pain, ranting about how I shouldn't be allowed to inflict battle damage to him via Nightmare Pain because he had Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion out (the battle damage reflect from Nightmare is a continuous effect, not activated) and that it wasn't fair that he couldn't figure out a way to break my board to attack. He got really cheesed off when I won the match by chaining a Phantom of Yubel to change the effect of one of his graveyard summons into destroying one of my Yubels in deck and then doing a massive Super Poly for a 5 mat Loving Defender. I was laughing my ass off at him freaking out (he's around 30...), pulling one of those "I'm quitting Yugioh forever!!!" deals. Luckily he didn't try to rip up any of my cards...

Me and my buddy were sitting next to each other in the semi finals of a locals, I was playing HEROs and my opponent was playing shaddolls.
I forget exactly how the duel went about but I went 2-0 against the guy summoning Dark law in both duels and at the end I tried shaking the guy's hand saying good game but he slapped my hand and started cursing at me saying "Man that's just a cheap card and you're kind of a fucking dumbass for playing it."
To which my friend said "Well you lost so what does that say about you?"
And the guy got up and left lmfao

I have two stories of a ragequit. Back in 2008 my sister and uncle also played Yu-Gi-Oh, and the three of us weren't particularly that great at the game. In our locals, there was this cocky kid that consistently got into top 8 at local tournaments and would occasionally win the whole thing. He was considered one of the best players around and "recruited" by one of the teams that were popular around that time.
Well, one day at locals he is my round 1 opponent, and after a hard match I win. He isn't pleased but remains in the tournament. Round 2 he is matched against my uncle, and proceeds to lose that round too. By this point he is getting annoyed, but stays in the tournament. Round 3, he is matched with my sister, who was pretty bad at the game. Somehow, she edges out the win, which embarrasses the kid. He proceeds to cry in front of everyone, collects his cards, and storms out of the tournament. We never saw him again after that.

The second story is in 2015, in Qliphort format. I saw TWO ragequits that day. Around round 7, I was matched with a Nekroz player. I was playing Qliphort turbo, so my goal was to get Towers ASAP, a monster that at the time was difficult to beat. I used floodgates too, making my opponent unable to play. He swiftly conceded game 1 and 2 when he saw he couldn't stop my combo, in the span of 5 minutes. He was so mad he refused my handshake and left.
Then later that day, around round 9, I hear a commotion a couple of tables ahead of me, and see this older dude in his 40s flip the table, throw his cards against the wall, and promptly leaves the venue leaving everything behind. I guess he was defeated pretty badly.

I have a little bit of a story from my first regional. It was 2012 and the chaos dragon structure deck had released and I was going into this playing a Lightsworn centric Chaos Dragon build. In my first round, I was sat across a kid and I can't really remember what he was playing, but during this time Number 16: Shock Master was legal. I was able to pull the first game pretty easily as the stuff was just kind of hitting at the right time. They had won game 2. Game three and things are going at a back and forth and he eventually summons Shock Master. He uses the effect and calls spells, shutting down the turn that I had planned. So I just try to defend myself on my turn and pass. He starts his turn and attacks my monsters.....and ends his turn. I stare a little confused and proceed to draw. I activate Solar Recharge which he tells me that I can't because of Shock Master. I proceed to point at his monster.....it still had a material. He never activated it on the previous turn.
He proceeds to fold his arms and start muttering to himself as I just drop Judgment Dragon, pay the thousand, drop 2 more, and swing for game. He gathers his stuff and storms off, leaving me bewildered. I did proceed to lose my next three rounds, dropping out of the tournament as that third was Dino Rabbit and I was kinda salty, but after that, I got to meet someone who would go on to become one of my dearest friends , so there was a definite upside.

Not a long story, but I remember back when Pendulums were first introduced. I was using the pendulum structure deck against a dude who was in my friend’s group. Like I said, this was when Pends first hit the shelves, so MR rules don’t apply in this story. So it’s after school and we’re just dueling in the cafeteria, waiting for our rides home. A few turns passed and shit already got irritating for him as, with both of the pend magicians in my zones, I was constantly getting my monsters from my ED that he had destroyed, or monsters that I had just drawn. Literally had to look up the rule book so he’d stop calling me a cheater. He scooped and left after my Odd-Eyes returned for the third time, and he refused to duel me for the remainder of the year.

that guy needs anger management training.
he went 3-0 before losing the finals.
and losing the finals causes the anger?
    anger management training required.
    i've been where he was.
don't recall the year, mr4 sky striker altergeist meta.
i played with mermail, lost to guru controle twice cause of that 1 trap, 2-1 game finals, went 4-1 in a 5 round tornement.
i still remember that one foundly, first time i ever was in the finals, and i almost won that.
my best game that tornement was my match against pend magicians.
amazing back and fort, break one bord, build a new one, i'll never forget that specific locale.

i had a guy at my locals who would come up while you were dueling and just look at your extra deck, he noticed my elemental hero absolute zero had a stamp in the top corner. ( it was because it was like that when i got it in the gx manga) the owner of the shop yelled at him to stop randomly grabing peoples cards

Bro, that might be James who threw the deck box... Its just so similar to his behavior playing with him for league, DnD, and - of course - yugioh. We even pulled madolche with him
