    The thing with Bridgewater is that there was a question at the time whether his knee injury was so bad that he might lose the leg, let alone play again. Aaron Donald is certainly the pride of this class. As for Manziel, file under WTF.

      Mike Evans too. Probably one of the more understated receivers in the league. He has had over 1000 yards every year he has played and is in the top 30 statistically for yards and just outside the top 10 for receiving touchdowns during his career. And half of that time was without a very good QB, although he has had very good QB play for the past five years.

    Jadeveon Clowney made his Pro Bowls based on versatility, QB hurries, and run stopping, which is suuuuper rare. He never topped 10 sacks in his PB years (or actually any year since), but the Texans had him playing literally every position in the front 7. He lined up as MLB and shot the A gap on multiple occasions. He would play inside on the line at times. Idk if he quite deserved Pro Bowls those years but I'm not gonna research what players were in the SB or declined the PB to make him a selection.

  • @zeromega4541
    @zeromega4541 Месяц назад

    This was the draft I have nightmares about as a lions fan. It killed Matthew Stafford hall of fame chances. The lions were in desperate need for a WR. They only had Calvin Johnson and newly acquired and unproven Golden Tate on the roster. But the 2014 draft was stacked with WR talent. All they had to do was draft the best one available. Which happened to be Odell Beckham or even reach for the next best option Brandin Cooks. Instead they drafted Ebron but still needed a WR so they promoted Jeremy Ross from the practice squad. Ebron dropped everything and the offense repetitively stalled out when teams had the secondary to bracket Calvin and keep up with Tate since we couldn't run the ball and Ross couldn't beat one on one coverages. Imagine what Odell would have done with the defense focused on Megatron. Even when they picked Ebron Mel Kiper said I thought they would go with Odell because it was a perfect fit.

    Overall great draft. Biggest bust definitely Manzel. Darnold being the biggest hit, with Mike Evans a close 2nd. Honestly Evans and Darnold will go down as one of the best, if not best at their positions. This may be one of the greatest drafts, as it seems like at least 80-85% of the picks were either good, great, or legendary.

    Seems like the Cowboys have this nasty habit of drafting Hall-of-Fame offensive linemen. Since the common draft era, Zach Martin in this draft was already the 4th one that will end up in the HoF, after Rayfield Wright, Larry Allen and Tyron Smith. Tyron Smith and Zach Martin are locks to get in, with their all-pro credentials and being on the 2010 All-Decade Team.
    The only team that rivals the Cowboys is the Steelers. Since 1967, they also drafted 4 HoF offensive linemen: Mike Webster, Dermontti Dawson, Alan Faneca and Maurkice Pouncey (not eligible yet but should be a lock, comparable credentials to Martin's and Smith's).

    Ryan Shazier was sadly the biggest 'Bust' of this entire class. not because of anything he could have done differently. Rather because of his talent and potential impact on the sport at large. When he received his injury, I swear I have never heard a crowd at Accrisure go that quiet. And for good reason. In just two years, he had become the Steelers "primary' defenseman, in a way that Troy Palamulu was before him and Minka Fitzpatrick would eventually grow into after him. It's really too bad, when you think about all of the title chances missed by the Steelers because of this one injury, but its impossible not to salivate over what might have been!!

    Yeah, right. The guy who’s paying your salary while owning the team had no influence on making that universally panned pick. Manziel was nothing but a bag of question marks, personality and athleticism-wise (to have any NFL success) but the Browns just had to go full Browns at the time.

    The Eagles traded down and then all the guys they targeted got taken and they panicked and took Marcus Smith way too early. He was projected to be a day three guy and ESPN didn't even have any footage or stats ready when he was taken. Smith himself was in the bathroom alone at home when he was picked because he never dreamed he'd be taken in the first round. It was a terrible pick at that spot, but in fairness the player never should have been taken that high and never got a real chance to develop because of a bonehead panic move by the GM.

      10%?
      About 13-17 of these players were hits. Unless your definition of hit is "Will probably be inducted into the Hall of Fame", in which case yeah, there are "only" 2 slam dunk HOFers and 2 other guys with solid cases.
      But if it is "good player" for the team that drafted them, which is the general definition of "hit", even Clowney, who significantly under delivered for a 1st overall pick, still has had a very good career and is hardly a miss.

      When they did that "documentary" on poooor Johnny Football, his own sister said it was a crock. He had already shown himself to be a fathead in college. Johnny Manziel and deShaun Watson, Jimmy Haslam is the gift that keeps giving.

    Justin Gilbert was a man coverage corner who was drafted by a team who used mostly zone coverage. Then he was traded to Pitt who…sea zone coverages. IIi think he would have been a solid CB if he went to the right team.
