Tyler Hanson I'm gonna get it, not right away but when I have some money. If you can't afford this card it's fine TBH the 970 or the 390 are good choices.
jebril Sure the 970 is still the sweetspot for mid end gaming rig.
When I'll have some money to spend I'ill upgrade from my good old hd7950 :D

+GoWFAN Awesome, and very hard to find in my country :\ I'd rather the strix since I have a Strix 970 which atm is pumping out those frames with ease, I was trying to buy the Zotac 980 recently but couldn't find any resellers, but I'll start saving up for this strix asap

We only have a few games with partial D12 support, wait till its mainstream, maybe AMD may still have the upper hand while microsoft/nVidia work out the kinks. But I'm not liking the idea of in-engine benchmarks to start with, especially from just 1 d12 game

Bought one used and took it apart to apply new thermal paste.
That PCB is really impressive, I was actually shocked by the build quality.
Dude you test bench is pretty good as it shows what the average gamer would have while looking at this card (depending on how much money they have of course)

That Zotac cars is a monster. I may go with them a a first buy.
Is there in 12:09 any problems about the temperature chart? Because you mention the zotac amp extreme to be hotter, by 10 °C, but it actually appears in the chart to be cooler

Pyther Gark At the end of the day, people are free to buy whatever they like. Some people just feel more confident with some brands over the other. I get that, I'm not some Zotac fanboy or some employee of them, this is actually the first time I will have one of their products.

This strix gtx980ti oc card is just a beast,brought one week ago and I'm just atonished to see how crazy this card overclocks,without doing any tweeking with voltage and memory this card overclocked from 1190mhz to 1420mhz at temp of 56C with fan speed at 100percent...uff this card knows preety much about its gpu boost 2.0 technology.This card has soo much potential than any other gtx980ti card zotac,evga,gigabyte no one stands in front of this asus card. This can go easily above 1530mhz++ if we try to overclock manually.For me it had be a totally worth upgrade of my every penny from my zotac gtx680 2gb to asus strix gtx980ti oc edition.I stay in India and this card costed me around Rs63,000 or 950USD.
The content keeps getting awesome! Asus does a pretty solid job in cooling and overclocking! I wanted the green to buy this card from green team...

I'm a little bit noob when it comes to benchmark settings. 1. Do you benchmark with a 144hz monitor or 60hz? 2. Is 4k automatically 144hz? 3. Am I mistaken to think that a 144hz monitor will get lower frames than a 60hz monitor? 4. Lastly if the answers of 1 and 3 are yes (144hz) What hertz did you use to benchmark? Thank you to whoever takes the time to enlighten me
I just got this gpu and couldn't be more happy. I am able to enjoy 4k gaming on all the new titles on high settings. Some on ultra settings if I turn off AA and some other settings. This is an awesome graphics card and I would highly recommend it!

Man, i know that was a Asus review but the Zotac 980 ti was kickin some butt in the benchmarks. But that Asus card wasnt any slouch by any means, Both cards were impressive at 4k and perfect for 1440p. Hope the moving goes easy for you man. Love watching your videos, no bs, straight to the point and you let the gpus do the talking.
Natepick007 Exactly! As Elric points out the STRIX cools very well so has more room for overclocking than the Extreme. Hardwarecanucks shows that the STRIX overclocked outperforms the Extreme.
Oh i know. Im a huge overclocker and would buy the asus. But im just saying out of the boz and hook into the system performance that zotac does pretty good.
Natepick007 On my EVGA superclocked I've got it to 1420Mhz without even fiddling with anything. Got higher scores than any of the stuff benched here. Load temps at 65 Celsius. (My room is always at 65F/18C, so i guess that helps a lot too).
if u guys are wondering u should only install oem gpu drivers by the manufacturer any drivers installed from nvidia website results in 10% lowerperformance and noticable mouse lag
Yeah the Zotac Amped Extreme Edition is the card I have. it is insane. My firestrike score I got up to 16001 overclocking it a little further. Insane performance on one card. Can play in 4k comfortable @ 35-40fps in Witcher 3.
I7 4770k has socket type 1150 not 1155...sorry to be that guy but that was bothering me. I loved the video though! :) Keep it up! I wish I could buy the instrumental version of the benchmark song...

Big fan of giving the exact size dimensions of the cards, making a build for mini ITX, sadly ZOTAC was too big but this will fit. Was looking every where for exact sizes.

you would think the zotac being much higher clocked it would run hotter but it surprised me. looks like the zotac is one of the best air cooled 980ti's.

I prefer the all black look of the Zotac personally. The red accents don't really work with my predominantly blue motherboard and ram.
And cheap shot at Linus. I find those videos interesting, ut then I tend to like those types of videos in general.
I notice the Asus graphics cards have been going down in quality especially in their coolers, they put shitty thermal paste on the chip and thier coolers are hotter than a lot of competing brands for example, Sapphire, MSI, Zotac, etc

You clearly show in the benchmark section that the zotac has a lower highest temp and only 4 degree difference in lowest temp. This is all after the zotac rules over each benchmark. How does the zotac run ten degrees hotter, yet still outperform strix fps wise? How does this card have "more potential" like you mentioned when it runs hotter and slower in benchmarks? What am I not getting here?
My previous plan was to get a titan x for my next build but screw that, the 980Ti amp extreme blows it away and for just 300 bucks more than a titan I can SLI 2 980Ti Amp extremes, THAT is what I am going to do.
is it me or furyx was ahead in a lot more benchmarks against the reference ti this time?

+Nier S better get rid of it fast, read some of the posts in the following link. Ngreedia is fking over the 600-700 series owners in order to sale the 900 series. When a 960 beats the 780ti there is something fishy going on.

@Ivory Harris because the core isn't powerful enough duh. Just because it has more v ram doesn't mean it will use it. Its really up to the gpu core

im gonna build a new gaming pc and i need some advice since its my first time building a pc..
Option 1:
-i5 4690k
-ASRock Z97X Killer Mainboard
Option 2:
-i5 6600k
-Asrock Z170 Gaming K6 Mainboard
Should i save the money and take Option 1 or is it worth spending a little more for Option 2? (And yes i'm on a budget thats why i choose the i5 over the i7)

While I do appreciate these videos... most of us want to see ultra settings to see what the cards are capable of. I understand that you want to keep a level playing field with the older videos but it wouldn't hurt to add ultra settings to really benchmark the maximum settings. Cause now I have to go watch someone else's video to see max settings... See how that works. Just advice, show them so people don't go elsewhere for benchmarks !!! But do whatever you want to do and good video as always.

I think I have misheard did you say socket 1155 for a 17-4770k? I'm pretty sure Ivy bridge (socket 1155) would be the 17-3770k and not the Haswell (socket 1150)....

I must say, out of the box, Zotac has done an excellent job with their card and despite being a big fan of Asus I think the 980Ti Strix doesn't look that good.
And for performance I would probably go with 390X CF, I don't like multi-GPU setup that much but more and more games are coming out with that capability and price wise, atleast where I live Sapphire 8GB 390X two way CF will cost around 86k BDT and a 980Ti will cost around 73k BDT but I'm guessing the performance will be much higher in the CF. Then again I really want AMD to come back because more competition means better products from both manufacturer.

my 780 ti directcu ii runs quite hot and has almost no overclocking headroom, probably won't be going with Asus for my upgrade.
Elric stop with the medium settings benchmarks, like who the hell wants medium anyway?
I have this card and gaming mode runs at 1404-1414mhz while OC mode runs up to 1444
Im on my 2nd 980 ti Lightning. The first one I returned because it couldn't reach 1500 mhz and the coil whine was by far the worst Ive ever heard on a gpu. The one I have now still has coil whine but not as bad in some games but I can only get it to 1482 mhz core clock. I got it for nearly 800 usd and I regret it. DO NOT buy the Lightning series as their ASIC scores arent guaranteed like the Kingpin cards from EVGA for a little more. My 1st card had an ASIC of 69.1 and my current card has a score of 66.2. Stick with the Asus strix, Zotac Amp Extreme or Giga g1 and save yourself some money.

jo elric would you do me a favour? I'm wondering how the fury x performs under DX12. heard of 80% percormence improvements while nvidia cards only had around 10% improved. So could you compare this 980TI under dx 12 against the fury x?
Only thing you proved was that the ZOTAC 980 TI AMP EXTREME is better, unless I just misunderstood...I probably have I tend to do that sometimes...
