Thanks for doing this video - was really looking forward to this
Just finished building my PC I'm so happy!!!!
Great review as always man! Greetings from Argentina. Keep up the good work!
Superb Review Dmitry! As always, you keep raising the bar as what to expect from a tech review. We thank you for all your hard work to bring all this invaluable and pertinent content. Greetings from Puerto Rico!
Great vid man!I've made my decision I'm getting this one :D please continue with the great content! :)
I absolutely adore your channel, this is the only place that I give an instant-like button under the video without seeing it, because I know it's gonna be worth it. Thank you for that, keep doing what you do!
I'm new to this channel... I can't help saying that you look the slightest bit like Chris pratt
+CaptainSkoobang Welcome to the channel and yes, I get the Chris Pratt comment a few times a day :D
HardwareCanucks xD
lol YES
+CaptainSkoobang oh hahaha. yeah he does.
+HardwareCanucks I would take that as a compliment! :P
Thank you so much buddy! This is definitely going to be my next graphics card!
Please review the gigabyte g1 gaming version of the 980ti! Good video today, as always. :)
YASSSS
Jayztwocents I believe has already reviewed it
+R33ZA Yeah but I like Dmitri's reviews better lol.
Do it!!
+Rami Hanafy
just do it!
Amazing video thanks dude could I pleas tell me what song you use for the Benchmark
@hardwarecanucks what were you doing to test temperature under loads? Did you leave the card on default profile? I have two of these and I cannot get them to go above 70 degrees on my custom fan profile (though I do not know if having an SLI would reduce the load on each card; and in turn the temperature). I use a 3 monitor setup (2x 1920x1080p and 1x 2560x1440 144hz) if this makes any difference either.
+HardwareCanucks I was lucky enough to pickup this card a few weeks back, absolutely love it, the only thing that's slightly annoying is the pulsing LED, I wish it just stayed on.
Last time I came this early my girlfriend left me
+Chromedus omg
+Chromedus I almost splurt my coke reading this
+Chromedus well meme'd
+Chromedus XXDDDD
+Chromedus This would have been a lot funnier if I hadn't just seen the exact same comment on one of CultOfMush's vids a few days ago.
Got mine today and im installing drivers as we speak, pretty gorgeous card and so far i got good reviews for it.
was waiting on this video for some time now :P
Dimitri, I can't find the track you used at 3.41. I was supposing it was abstract beauty but can't find it on the silk channel.
When you are doing those benchmarks are those the results of all the cards straight out the box not overclocked at all? Or do you over clock them?
Got this last weekend, what a beast, and I haven't run it since my PSU is lacking so waiting for a better one to arrive in the mail. But what I mean is... It's huge! I still have a first gen Antec 900 and had to move one of the harddrive cooling bays up swapping the empty 5.25" cover plates and to my suprise it fits! Still badly need a new case though as this one doesn't have dust filters and the inside isn't painted black. Can't wait so see it munch heavy games for breakfast.
I can't wait to get a new camera man, that video is so crispy. Lol what would you recommend as an upgrade from my $400 Nikon? I'd prefer a Nikon since I have a good macro lens already.
Thank you for the information. What do you think of the ASUS 20th Anniversary 980 Ti (GOLD20TH-GTX980TI-P-6G-GAMING) or Gigabyte Windforce (GV-N98TXTREME-6GD).
Are there any cards that have hit the market lately that you'd recommend over the models you reviewed in this video?
Can you guys do a review on the 980ti hybrid from EVGA
what i love about your channel is you only have one award and you dont give it out to just any product
Excellent Review I love the workmanship of this card...
NOW THE GTX 1080 Ti OC 11G version blew me away .. But this card always caught my eye.
could you link your review of the zotac 980 ti amp extreme? It's in your benchmarks but I can't find your vid for it
for water cooling purposes and the waterblocks required. is this card an NVidia reference card design? or has it been changed by Asus?
Cool review :D Since I am not a tech guy I am hoping you will answer me this? i have a GTX 770 now, and I want to upgrade to a 980Ti, but do not know which one. ASUS, MSI,EVGA...... and what is the biggest difference between the ones with 2 cooler and the ones with 3 coolers.....?
was the amp! extreme overclocked and was the strix? I know it says oc but sometimes you put that when it's factory overclocked
hi, is it worth buying the normal Asus 980Ti strix then overclocking, since this card is out of stock. Should i go for a different card?
Thanks
Veary professional Video as allways
Could you possibly do a system build with new z170 chipset and skylarks processors using this graphics card that is designed for gaming. Maybe even do some red/black color scheme. Thanks and keep up the great videos
is the light on the side of this card supposed to always go off then on? mine never stops blinking and wondering if that's normal?
+HardwareCanucks will it fit in the phanteks evolv itx?
I'm confused, did you manually overclock all the cards before comparison or just let them boost up to whatever they do under stock fan speeds? Also, how about showing the ASIC scores so we can compare to other sites and see which after market board partner tends to get the best silicon from Nvidia.
What cpu was used in the benchmarks cheers much appreciated if you answer
one question: can you disable the breathing/glowing strix logo on the side? - Thanks
ok and the zotac was fighting asus sooooo what was the clock speeds on core and memory for zotac amp extreme? and which could overclock to the highest speeds?
Definitely the best bench mark background music around!
What rig were these benchmarks ran on? CPU? etc.
I was in the market to buy this card, but could not get my hands on it. So I settled with the eVga 980ti SC+ which does the trick just fine. This is a beautiful card overall though really like the manufacturing process.
great review.
I have had my Asus GTX980ti STRIX for about 2 weeks now, and it is an absolute beast. I am in the process of getting a replacement from newegg though, as my original card came with very bad coil whine, and a noisy fan. Great vid
With the price, it better be an absolute beast.
+Nicholas Huizinga mine is supper quite and have no coile whine even on euro truck simulator 2 menu without vsync (this is the best coil whine test) :p
It only took like two months, but thanks for the review.
so last week i was making my decision there are 2 Strix versions one is factory OC and a regular one so finally i made my decision to go with the OC'ed one of course since it was only 20$ more and around 20% more OC'ed but i check today to make the order and the card price is now 779$ unlike last week it was 680$ but the none OC'ed one is still at 660$ why did the OC version price go crazy!? should i get the non OC'ed? or do i go with the gigabyte G1? sigh...
hey can someone help me, I'm deciding between this card or a zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme, the extreme here in canada is around $899 and the STRIX is around $909 I'm not sure which to choose. pls help
I see no link for the Zotac review?
Great video.
If a Canuck could talk, I think he would sound exactly like Dmitry
Holy crap. That thing would look beautiful in my red/black themed build.
Choose MSI instead
already got one
Should i buy this for $270 brand new? Is that too high or too low for this card?
excellent video sir
Intend to use this card for my upcoming build, though will have to somehow manage to keep temperatures low if I decide on SLI.
definitely subscribing.....
Dude, can i ask you, does the light on the top of the card flash while it's on?
Yes
Dimitri forgot to mention if the backplate helps cool the GPU or if it is just for aesthetics, as well as temperatures after overclocking.
how loud is it?
lauder than the evga 770 clasiffied?
Actually About to grab one of these for my new Build! Fantastic Card! :)
Specs on the new build?
i7 5820K, ASrock x99 extreme 4 Mobo, Asus GTX 980 Ti STRIX, Samsung M951 SSD, Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SSD, WD 3TB Black HDD, Fractal Define S Windowed Case, Corsair H1000i PSU, Enermax Liqtech 240mm (for now), ASUS MG279Q Monitor
will you review the asus 980ti strix ice?...
It's 2019, looking to pick this card up for a 200$!!
Overclocking in mind I think it's gonna be a great buy.
I bought an asus poseidon for 200$ cdn to replace a poseidon gtx 780 in a 4770 @4,4 wc,,,I hope u get lucky!
It's 2021 and I just bought this card for $329 because man, times are rough here in the future
@@cluckern9614 lmao I bought this for 230$ in June
I have this card. It was a day-one buy for me. Prices were a bit higher but still worth it imo. I went with this one over the gtx 980 for the extra fps in 1650*1440 gaming.
How do i set the strix logo to still ?
What microphone is that?
well I am planning to get this card and I am new to pc build. Does this graphic card work in ddr 4?? works on Asus maximus viii hero the latest motherboard right now??
+dhurba limbu It will work yes, as firstly, whether or not your MOBO (motherboard) uses DDR4 or not is inconsequential to the function of the GPU (Graphical processing unit, graphics card), and secondly, as long as you have a PCI-E 3.0 16x slot as well as the suitable power connectors, the gpu will function with the motherboard.
I'd suggest getting a cheaper motherboard however, personally find the maximus series a bit gimmicky & expensive. While you're at it, make sure to buy a CPU (Processor) that fits the socket in the MOBO, as all CPU's and MOBO's aren't compatible.
Thank you
is it possible to make sli with 2 of this thing?
What are the specs on the test bench (other than the GTX 980..)
hi im goin to be getting an i5 6600k and an asus strix gtx 980ti and i am wondering i try gaming at 1440p what will my avg fps be on modern games...thanks for answering :)
+Isaac Sosa over a 100 in most gamesand around 85 in latest products such as battlefront and the division, etc...
Are 421 watts only the graphics card or the full system with cpu and everything?
Full System ofc lol
is this the same size like the 980 strix?
I have Nvidia gtx 980. If I change the Asus strix GTX 980 TI, will I feel the difference in video processing? what is your opinion?
Could you do a Crossfire review of Dual AMD 390 from MSI? pls, or tell me if its good, i'm upgrading my pc and thinking of getting 2 of them and cross firing them.
Yeah, I'm upgrading my PC to dual r9 390's to prepare for winter!
Lol, but seriously, AMD heating jokes aside.
+Misteryman321 Definitely, if your power supply can take it, that 8gb of vram pretty much begs for crossfire. They also do quite well at 1440p and 4k. 390 crossfire is actually a good option for 4k gaming or high fps 1440p.
I got it, loved it on then new ASUS X99-E WS & i7-6950X & 32g Quad-Chan DDR4. Still use it but now I wonder, I have a chance to drop a 2nd for SLI but wonder if even worth it compared to used 1080-Ti in single for med settings 1440-4K, This card is a beast in performance and its size. 12" & 6" tall so you do need space. Love to idle quiet mode if you have good venting, get's nice & warm. Still fun on an older Tylersburg X58 w/ Xeon W3690 hex core.
Thanx man from my heart, I buy this strix no doubt, its a beast this video card, I buy specialy for 2160p. You convinced me to buy this Asus Strix.
+Marian-Alexandru Laza hows is your experience with this graphics card?
the non-oc version of the asus 980ti strix is about 100 euros cheaper than the oc-version. is it possible to oc the non-oc card to the same capabilities as the oc-version? the components should be identical, shouldn't they?
I need help how did you reach 1493 mhz ? on core clock i cant even reach 1480
Hello I was wondering is GTX 980 Ti Strix and GTX989 Ti Strix OC the same thing or are they 2 different products?
the 980 ti oc is factory overclocked
I am going to build a gaming pc and I was wondering what processor I am going to get. I5-6600k or I7-4690k or I5-4690k? At the moment I might be going to for the I5-4690k but I am considering going for the skylake one or getting the I7. I am going to be using a gtx 970 or an r9 390 with it. What do you think I should do? Is a 4th gen cpu not an option or it is ok? Is skylake worth it? because I also have to spend more money on the motherboard and ram. I am going to be using this pc for gaming and work but probably not hardcore editing.
The i5-4690k will run games perfectly fine, the other two are not worth the extra price unless you are going to be doing things like rendering videos and encoding stuff, so I'd save the money by getting the i5-4690k for now and invest the extra in the video card, the $100 or so difference could get you a 980 instead of a 970 tbf, and for gaming that would benefit you better than the i7-4790k or i5-6600k would. plus, in terms of future upgrades, the i5-4690k uses the same chipset as the i7-4790k (the Z97 chipset) so you could just upgrade the CPU in the future without having to change the motherboard.
Note: This is the exactly the same build I am doing atm XD
SH Gaming Thank you
+Adam Nouwailati No problem :)
is asus gtx 980ti strix the same thing as gtx 980ti striz oc or a different thing?
Oh god! Not only good with space monsters and dinosaurs but also graphics cards. You're awesome Chris Pratt!
I just can't believe you guys did a comparison of all these cards without a gigabyte g1 980ti. I'm shocked!! not expected....
Can you watercool it with EK titan X waterblock and backplate?
Buy a reference if you want to why waste so much money for the cooler, otherwise if you remove the cooler and everything off the card eventually you can but it's pointless so don't do it.
Which one would you prefer?
This card or the Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP Extreme Edition?
Strix
Can this ASUS 980 ti Strix OC SLI fit the NZXT h440 case???please reply
It should fit
will it fit a nzxt noctis 450 ?
plz do a review on the gtx 980ti hybrid
review for gigabyte g1 or galax hof please
I would be interesting in a review of the Zotac 980 ti Amp Extreme. It has the highest factory overclock so that's interesting.
why no comparison to Gigabyte 980ti G1 Gaming ?
is this card still good ?
plz tell me the dimensions of this card
Can you change the side LED to a static white?????? Or does it still annoyingly pulse?????
Pulse, I have this card
+Brian Tripp with Geforce Experience you can lock it.
So for video games this is the best graphics card almost, what about rendering videos?
5 years later it's still a beast!
@Reborn Shiv same
Is the core voltage slider locked for you? I cant seem to get mine past 1.2v. Help?
What cpu does he use?
Better than the msi version?
+HardwareCanucks I really like your videos, especially their quality. But i would like if you would be using a lower aperature from time to time, since the focus-area is sometimes a bit too small which makes the videos a bit hard or annoying to look at. Especially if the products ,we are looking at, are slightly angeled.
I would appreciate it if you take this tip into account.
with BF4 @ 1440p, Ultra setting, I am getting a temp of 73-76 is that normal?
YES.
BUT - you can increase the fan speed for lower temps if the heat bother you so much. the card is fine don't worry!
Dmitry you should use jokers impression of you one time for the NCIX intro and see if anyone notices!
g1 or strix?
Would this fit fine in an nzxt h440 without hitting the side panel
+skate.poser yes
just bought a used one for 370€ with 1 year left warranty . beast of a card
