      How does it work? I use it and have green nis, but no more fps.. do i have to also reduce res in game? I have it at 4k and the nis is green, it was blue when i used it on windows aswell, because i needed to reduce res in game for it to start. Is it the same here? It's weird because you set the res in geforce, but it doesnt seem to do anything

      @FreedomBU 2 года назад +10

      I’m pretty sure if you turn it on in GeForce experience it turns it on in control panel, the only extra benefit with GeForce experience is that now you can optimize the game settings with that specific 85%/77%/ect image scaled resolution without entering the game to change the settings yourself. Tho sometimes the optimizations in experience is not as nice as optimizing game settings manually.

      @JackTyler if your windows is its native resolution, like with my setup how one monitor is native 1440p and the other is native 4k, it will only image scale the monitor not running its native. Kinda sucks cause I run most of my games in borderless mode and I wish I could use image scaling on just the borderless games without fucking up my desktop config on both my monitors.

    There's a little tip here (even from Nvidia it self), do not use it directly on your windows desktop. Keep your desktop resolution at native and enable overlay indicator to see if NIS work or not. so you can enjoy the 144hz with NIS enabled
    Blue NIS = only sharpen
    Green NIS = scaling + sharpen

      Go to settings in GeForce experience, and enable NIS from there and select a resolution to scale from, in the Nvidia control panel , select your native resolution, start the game and in the graphics settings, select the one you selected on the GeForce experience.
      That should work, you don't need to mess with windows resolution. Your resolution should be always on the recommened and in the Nvidia control panel in your monitor native as well.

      NIS was made to sell DLSS.
      I think it's crap - implementation is utter crap. FSR and XeSS will be the best open source solutions.

    • @ProtoType4588
      @ProtoType4588 2 года назад +2

      @@rick_takahashi even if that would be true...they need to be implemented in the game by a developer while nis doesn't need to be implemented by any developer it just works straight away nis can be implemented by devs to make it perform even better
      dlss on the other hand you know why it works better right? while fsr and nis just is a smart pixel scaler they lack the information of the objects in the render they upscale the hole thing meanwhile dlss can ai upscale and knows the objects in the scene and can work with that data to adjust the pixel priority on say like text in some cases dlss can even look better then native like in cyberpunk 2077 the text is way clearer with dlss then it is native
      dlss is way more complex then fsr or nis
      and to put it clear once again dlss needs to be implemented meaning there is no way nis can sell dlss if the feature isn't being implemented in every game out there if anything dlss support and fsr support might decrease due to nis since why implement a feature that already has a driver base solution?

    • @rick_takahashi
      @rick_takahashi 2 года назад +3

      @@ProtoType4588 Hence why I said poor implementation.. imagine, actually manually setting your resolution lower for it to work and actually thinking this is "a good solution". There's a setting in GeForce Experience but you still have to manually set it. FSR and NIS are spatial scaling and clearly one has better implementation whilst the other one has better "marketing" and current mindshare doesn't even help distinguish how lackluster it is.. see BF2042 with NIS. FSR can be implemented globally, see MagPie.
      DLSS is a blackbox approach. It is better in quality no doubt but because of its proprietary approach and the amount of work developers has to do for it to work.. I don't think it will be a sustainable solution (same as G-Sync, which even Nvidia has adopted the AMD's open-source Freesync and rebranded it as if it's their own). Intel's Open Source XeSS, which is also Temporal scaling will be a better choice for devs and I think will be long term solution unless if Nvidia does something about it (or fanboys will continue to blindly follow Nvidia). Proper OpenSource solutions will ultimately be the long game here. NIS has a short vision and is only made to sell DLSS. Think about it, FSR only needs at least 2 hours to bake into a game but why not integrated on most games... Nvidia's 💵💰 play huge influence. Will be interesting when Intel joins this circle early next year.

      @@rick_takahashi imagine actually needing to select lower resolutions for performance its the same story with normal resolutions you do it to gain fps having the feature related to a resolution slider doesn't require developer implementation tell me how could they have done it different without it being on by default with no option to change it you want a button a slider wel bad luck for you those sliders and buttons require to be coded into the interface everyway you possibly shape it there are no real other solutions then having a developer develop it into the game
      again nis cant sell dlss if dlss will never be implemented in older games and again not every developer even wants to bother implementing the scaling features your stuck with what developers want not what you want
      fanboys get that shit out of here only thing that mathers is performance i had both amd and nvidia cards i had both intel and amd processors it don't mather what their rep is performance numbers define what i pick up in my case it was a rtx 2070 super before the pandemic so prices were normal meanwhile amd offering here was over 100 euro more expensive but the best balanced card for me still is the rx 580 8 gb need to get me 1 again for backup rip it costs around 600 euro now if amd beats nvidia in performance then the next main card would be amd again simple as that
      that should answer your question if I'm blind or a fanboy as I'm neither
      but what you are my man is a amd fanboy probably got a amd card a amd processor even your ass says made by amd its either that or 2 other reason's
      1 : your salty that you don't have a nvidia card to test this
      2 : your part of that disgusting ignorant aholes that only likes to talk shit about technical advancement nobody is allowed to like new stuff because that's bad
      the only one selling dlss right now is you because with nis dlss lost a lot of its value
      but at least i can say thanks for letting me know magpie exists it gets added to my compatibility and game enhancement folder
      anyway hope one day you realize that fanboying doesn't get you anywhere and see it from the perspective of a gamer that just wants to game that doesn't give a shite what brand or manufacturer and then you realize mmm yes even if moneymaking was the reason the feature exists it still is free performance :)

    DO NOT SET NIS ON YOUR NATIVE DESKTOP! You may choose to use overlay on NIS under Nvidia Geforce Experience. NIS scaling resolution appears in your 'game' video settings for selection. Green NIS will appear at top left corner of screen when you play games with resolution change. Blue NIS for sharpening only. Sharpening does not affect your framerate - for best results use 15% to 25% for sharpen. Best returns for framerate is at 85% scaling - any lower you start to have diminishing returns because of lower resolution.

Wonder if someone purposely fucked them over like this to make them look stupid. You don't change your desktop resolution at all. Just change in game to a lower res and it'll upscale. This does the same thing FSR and DLSS already does but now you can manually choose things. It performs better than both of those depending on which version of DLSS and FSR is implemented. in terms of visual quality it looks to be on par with FSR performance if you go down to 77% to get the most benefit.

    This was Bad Explained! DLSS use AI and Neural Network to combine information from multiple frames to fill the gaps for every frame (he obtain every particular frame enhanced at higher resolution from multiple lower resolution frames, those multiple input data frames being at different moments in time). So DLSS is TEMPORAL because get info from multiple frames and use AI while NIS is SPATIAL because use information from one single frame at a time and apply an algorithm to increase resolution of that particular frame!

      Try CapFrameX and capture the Frames for at least 10 to 15 Minutes so your Card gets heated up enough during Gameplay.
      Also, depending on which Game you use it for, try to get into Heavy Scenes (Lots of Gunshot, Explosions etc...) to see how low your FPS and high your Frame Times go in those Scenes.
      You usually get the smoothest Experience if your lowest FPS stays above 60 FPS as anything below that will feel really stuttery, even on higher HZ Monitors.
