This is first song I heard from Metallica back in 1983. I was on leave after USMC boot camp. Remember, this music was brand new and broke new ground. It was exactly what I needed at the time!!
This album was the birth of Thrash music (1983) and the point where Metallica began their 40 + year and currently ongoing journey of taking over the music scene.

From their very first album in 1983. James Hetfield was all of 19 when they recorded this album in the studio. This was the album that turned me into a metal head at the tender young age of 12.

"Seek and Destroy" was on "Kill 'em All", their 1st album that came out in mid 1983. I turned 8 yo that summer, but I grew up listening to Metallica. I can remember that this was one of my Mom's favorite songs off Kill. She's passed now but thinkin back, I had a pretty cool mama! Thank you Metallica!! And Brad & Lex as well for helping me relive those memories. 💕🤟
This is indeed their first album. Still a staple of their live set (I've seen them live 7 times). A fan favorite that they demand everyone sing along with. Usually played during the end of the show/encore. Nothing like hearing 20,000 people singing "Seek and Destroy"!
The first song I loved. MetallicA started here and now are the biggest touring band and best selling band recorded to date. Most ticket sales and album sales beating out stones, beatles, jackson, ozzy, abba, aerosmith... etc. There is nothing bigger than MetallicA.
Cliffs bass in this song is so good. From the Wah power chords after each first "Seek and Destroy" to the fillers after each subsequent. Also keeping the speed during the solo
It is interesting how each of you listen to the music. Brad seems to be more into the lyrics, message, etc where as Lex gets into the overall sound and feel of it. Thanks for sharing.

I have been listening to metal since a very young age and I honestly wish I would’ve gotten into it later so when I heard it for the first time I could really enjoy everything it has to offer
Check out the first lyrics in the song "Scanning the scene in the city tonight / We're looking for you to start up a fight." It's a song about the metal scene of those years. Back then, hair-metal was popular, with dudes who wore makeup and sang about girls. And Metallica was representative of the nascent thrash metal scene, which was much more influenced by hardcore punk, more aggressive, singing about violence, war, apocalypse and other dark stuff. Glamers thought of thrashers as punks and bums. They weren't allowed to play in many of the clubs where hair metal bands played. And thrashers thought glamers were posers and you could really get beat up for spandex pants and big hair. Patches with words like "Kill the poser" were popular at the time. That's what the song is about I think - Metallica felt like conquerors who went to war to destroy their competitors and dominate the metal scene.
I enjoy the range of music you both react to. The 80s being one of my favorite decades. But fan of all music and get a kick out of how new a lot of this is to you guys and getting your take on it. I appreciate the genuine reactions. 🤘🤘
Great song. Lex you've got a metal soul.🤘 If you haven't already reacted to it give Master of Puppets a go, it's one of the most loved Metallica songs.
The album was supposed to be called Metal Up Your Ass and had a picture of a dagger sticking up out of a toilet but the record company wouldn't allow such a thing in 1983 so they had to settle for this. Kill 'Em All refers to the record execs that squashed their album title. CLASSIC! Thanks for this one.
When I was very little(like two or three years old) I was fascinated by the vert ramp for skateboarding that my neighbor had built in his back yard for his two teenage sons.. They used to let me sit o backnpatio and watch them skate and they would play this whole album on a boom box. Its one of my oldest memories I still retain. They taught me how to skate as I got a little older but their Dad tore it down after they left for college.

So cool seeing her groove to this.
My favorite song by them.
long intro and old metallica.. Lex.. i love it when you have your hair up like that.. so cool... Brad.. you have a handful to deal with
Lex is something else. When the solo begins she goes amuck while brad is just sitting there
Their first album. Still my favorite. Kill em All. Says it all. Very raw
That beasty bass will not be denied.
Still have this Chrome tape somewhere. Thank you for the react. Bought this a very long time ago. Not gonna lie it was an acquired taste for me. Master of Puppets, And Justice for All hit the spot. This one took a bit to sink in.
