    Its been mentioned about who the four horsemen are. James Hetfield, the lead singer, and Dave Mustaine, were raised Christian. Many of Metallica's songs are based upon Bible stories. Not always entirely accurate and not pushing his faith, or lack of, upon the listener. They seem to gravitate towards the darker Bible stories. Their best Biblical song is "Creeping Death". That is the story of the Jewish Passover.

    Pestilence would be swarms of locusts/plant eating bugs “coming out of nowhere” and eating all the crops and oxygen producing plants. This song is about the biblical apocalypse.
    And if you want Metallica’s vocals to grow on you check out something from the S&M show in 99. Preferably “Bleeding Me” or “Hero Of the Day” for a much different (but just as badass & awesome) side of Metallica.

    • @nicedreams6010
      @nicedreams6010 3 года назад +2

      Pestilence means plague, disease, or sickness. You might be confused because of the common idiom "Plagues of Locusts", as in being plagued by swarming locusts. But pestilence itself means disease.

    Man, Lex looks so happy when she's listening to Metallica. I never really noticed before Lex pointed out the riff, but it kind of sounds like it's imitating horses galloping. You two should try out some Megadeth too. Dave Mustaine, the lead singer used to be in Metallica and played on this song. My favorite is "Sweating Bullets".

    A lot of metal uses biblical and religious literature.
    The four horsemen of the apocalypse from the book of revelation, the 4 riders appear on the earth to bring about the "end times".
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Horsemen_of_the_Apocalypse
    There are varying interpretations of the names of the riders, in the song Metallica chose:
    Rider 1: Time, Taking it's toll on you...
    Rider 2: Famine (Hunger)
    Rider 3: Pestilence (Means Plague or Sickness)
    Rider 4: Death (X)
    Also just for fun, Metallica has often referred to themselves as the 4 horsemen (at least in the early days), or been referred to by fans/media.

      I went to this show In Oakland, CA in 92 (Sept IIRC). G&R was an hour late showing up on stage by the time they got there, the crowd had revolted, and tore up the entire lawn/outfield and a dirt clod war ensued. I was up in the stands and saw the fracas, it was like watching bats swarming over the crowd there was so much dirt clods flying.
      The city of Oakland sued G&R because they had to replace the entire outfield.
      Lead singer of Metallica James Hetfield suffered a bad burn injury on his arms during a show on that tour - he mistimed where he was, or the wrong fire jet burst but he was in the blast of it. They postponed the concert several months but James still didn't play guitar due to his injuries - they had a stand in for his rhythm guitar piece though I cannot remember now who it was. After an encore James came out strapping and played guitar on Enter Sandman to finish his set. Then after getting our asses kicked for 2 hours by those awesome songs, the crowd had to stand for over an hour while amped and tweeking waiting for Axl. Also, the third (opening band) was supposed to be Faith No More, but after the postponement, Faith No More was replaced by Ice T's metal band Body Count. I would have preferred Faith No More.

      Yep, James got burned in St Louis I believe, and Axel, for whatever reason, refused to come on stage. It turned into a riot. James got treated and only missed a few shows. His Guitar Tech filled in for him, and allowed James to perform the Vocals.
