Lex, you're spot on with the classical element of Metallica's music. Metal as a genre is heavily influenced by Classical music. The drummer Lars composes their music and pieces the guitar riffs, solos and drums much like a Classical composer does. That's one big reason why Metallica is very unique. Plus, they are the band that started the genre of Thrash Metal.

The purists hate it but you've got to check out some of the songs from their S&M live concert. Truly amazing (Some orchestral stuff in there for you Lex)
Check out Yngwie Malmsteen's, "Far Beyond the Sun". Studio version from original album. This dude is a master of combining classical with metal. Heavily influenced by classical violin.
Lex you’re just a metalhead now. Your smile in this and many other songs simply reflects what is going on in your head for funfair. I just love it. Greetings from a metalhead from good old Germany
This a song about being at a metal concert. Imagine playing music this fast for 2 hours per concert and being in your late 30's and early 40's. The guys from Metallica are now in their late 50's approaching 60's. Just saying.
euh, in this live version they were far from late 30's or early 40 's it was the Seattle version in 1989, Hetfield for exemple was 26 years old.. they were all in their absolute prime.
Back in the day-- Metallica was known as speed metal. Battery is a club metal bands play at-- and it is also their sheer, powerful, energetic performance style.
Wow, I just noticed I didn't subscribe yet. Forgive me for the error of my ways. I like seeing Lex being converted into a metalhead and love how Brad is being so openminded and also slowly warming up to metal. Can't wait until you guys discover Slayer, that will be a ride and a half :D
Lex really has incredible music instincts, especially considering ( as far as known) she’s not a trained musician or lifelong fan of metal. A lot of metal is basically partly classical music but with abrasive and distorted textures and timbre
From what I remember they said this sound was about the crowd and the energy that is shared between them and the band that fuels the performance and overalls experience of everyone there
You guys should react to the late great Wayne static and his band static X. A song called 'the only' by static X would be a good place to start.. Wayne static was really unique with his voice and had one of the best looks in metal ever. I've been missing him and playing a lot of static lately. Come on guys the only by static X...🤘🤘😎🤘🤘
At the end of the song, its like my ears always automatically expect to instantly hear the beginning of Master of Puppets because that was the order of the songs on the album. Love the live reaction.
"Battery" is the name of a street that Metallica first started doing shows. This song is about the roots of Metallica. Cannot kill the family, battery is found in me.
Double meaning. The street where they played in the beginning was battery street. Then add in us- the fans- feeding their energy and the band feeding the fans. Circle of destruction- the mosh pit. Cannot kill the family- you can’t kill the Metallica/ metal family. To this day at their concerts they welcome “first time Metallica concert goers” to the Metallica family.
Whenever Lex starts talking about classical music, I really want to see you guys listen to Yngwie. Just avoid any of the live videos because they all suck (especially with an orchestra because you really need to know the source material before you dive into his + orchestra performances), best to just stick to the studio stuff with him. As for what song, anything off the first album (Rising Force).
back in 89/90, when i was about 14/15, I used to dj my school discos and the youth club discos. I started this song one night, right after playing a 3 song slow-set (for the couples), anywho... all hell broke loose when the mosh started. after it was over a friend of mine told me he nearly had his leg broke in the mosh after falling on the floor in the middle of it. it is still hailed as the greatest mosh ever at a school disco in our town cool Respect & Peace
I am so loving these thrash reaction videos. My middle-aged white ass gets transported back to the mid to late 80's where I locked myself in my room with a boombox, a bunch of metal cassettes, a Peavey half stack & a metal'd out Stratocaster for a few hours of 6 string therapy. So great to see a new generation eating this shit up.
God this CD....all these years I've heard it and it NEVER GETS OLD! It's raw...aggressive...it's a fucking semi driving right through your living room METAL UP YOUR ASS METAL POWER!!!
Kirk (the guitar player you love so much for his solos) was taken from a band called Exodus. Exodus is famous for a song called "The Toxic Waltz" which was a song about Mosh Pits. I was listening to that when I was 16.... so roughly 1988

If you're going to do another double react to Metallica, the live in Moscow performance is a must. It's like watching metal gods play an anthem of violence in the middle of a battlefield.
Guys I love that your doing the studio/live duo reaction. Super unique. Not a lot of channels do that!
I don’t want to pat myself on the back or anything, but this song was always the most satisfying song to get a flawless on in rock band 😂
Oh yeah I just purchased rb2 and I’m in love with playing this song
Recently discovered this channel. I love Lexs passion
ill be patiently waiting for a Brad headbang.
The purists hate it but you've got to check out some of the songs from their S&M live concert. Truly amazing (Some orchestral stuff in there for you Lex)
The purists hate anything post ...AJFA.
Ty you for this awesome reaction. I really appreciate that aspect of this video.
Guys please react to metallica S&M. It is a collaboration with the San Francisco symphony and it's one of the best musical outcomes ever
one of the best bands live ever
1981 -1998 Best
1998 - Present. Worst live band ever. A total joke.
This dual reaction idea is really, really good. Studio version, then a great live version. Awesome
Lex really has incredible music instincts, especially considering ( as far as known) she’s not a trained musician or lifelong fan of metal. A lot of metal is basically partly classical music but with abrasive and distorted textures and timbre
I loooove Lex reaction!! The energy in this concert is amazing
Doing the studio and live versions is literally the best idea
Liked this format, back-to-back reaction on studio and live versions 👏
Lex needs some Nightwish in her life. I'd start with the "The Greatest Show on Earth" live video. Dive right into the deep end.
Definitely need to do Nightwish...GLS, Poet and the Pendulum as well...
I’d start with something less proggy like « storytime » or « i wish i had an angel » before those epic songs
Yes this
She is musically inclined. I would bet she can easily learn to play an instrument. Not everyone has the gift of musicianship, she does.
This is great guys ! Perfect reaction especially with Metallica songs doing lyrics then live versions is perfect keep it up
I wonder what you would think of a song like *"Opeth - Reverie/Harlequin Forest"*
“I dont remember it was so long ago” haha Metallica has famously long songs, brads comment made me laugh so much
I just love watching Lex she is a true metal head.
We used to listen to this and damage inc in the locker room b4 our college hockey games. It lead to a lot of early game penalty minutes!
I’m 53, grew up on this … Never been referred to as an antique… hahahaha I kinda like that better than “Old” 🔥🤘😎
I'm 52...still, when Rona ain't about go to as many metal gigs as possible..
I'm going out kicking and screaming..😁🤘😎
@@antonytheolddog8626 Same here... 55 and still up front in the mosh pit. It seems I'm not going to grow out of it. ;)
@@antonytheolddog8626 🤘🤣 Gonna slide into that coffin like home plate, screaming Damn, what a ride!!! 😆😎🤘🔥
They feel antique bc they are rare and one of a kind......i like how you picked up on that feeling you get when you hear their music
Corrosion of Conformity
Great choice! So glad you did the studio version. Thanks
I am geeking out on the 2nd listening - the live version too! 😍🤘🏽😍
Y’all are the best.
back in 89/90, when i was about 14/15, I used to dj my school discos and the youth club discos.
Definitely one of my favorite songs from them! Great reaction! Brad being stone faced and Lex lighting up during a kick ass solo will never get old
Greatest band in history!
