Pashmina is basically Kashmir made in Kashmir Valley..they are damn expensive and used to be worn by the Mugal emperors of India,most Kashmiris don’t try to sell Pashmina to local Indians because we cannot even buy the cheapest ones.
They charged you a lot for the houseboats, the fair and general price is and should have been around $100. And the Pashmina shawl was way too overpriced and you had no way to tell if it was real or not. On real pashmina, there is a tag of the Indian Government which certifies that it is real and handmade. It should have been around $100 max. You should really be careful next time and not trust the guides as they have already talked with the sellers and have taken their margin. I really felt bad for you so please before purchasing anything ask the locals and not the guides. Love from Kashmir.
